This is an awesome year for the IchiRuki fandom.

I've stopped bothering about the opposite camp, Bleach is not about them, and so is the core of Bleach that does not have anything to do with them.

The fandom is exploding from what I can see. Sketchy, Mel, thank you very, very much.

A bit late but I just want to comment on Kubo's interview.

The interview is typical Kubo style. It reminded me of the "Do you plan to make Ichigo and Rukia a couple?" question. A relationship that is ambiguous but have the highest chance and potential to develop further.(cuz it's already developed into a 'precious nakama' )

Even if it does not have a romantic ending at the end,it's ok for me. At least Kubo recognizes the fact that they have a relationship like no other in Bleach.

High school student Kurosaki Ichigo and shinigami Kuchiki Rukia---TV Anime [BLEACH] started with the meeting of these two. This series that has been going more than 4 years, really, even if we said it's a track Ichigo and Rukia are walking on together, it's fine isn't it? Soon the new movie is going to be released. It's becoming a story that is returning back to the beginning.

Hmmm.

QUESTION: "What's Bleach about?"
ANSWER: "ICHIGO and RUKIA."

Ichigo has been overcoming many ordeals, but everything is because of the existence of Rukia.

For Ichigo, he no longer could think about a life without his meeting with Rukia.

But this time, even from that Ichigo's memories, the said woman's memories is one-sidedly disappearing.

The truth about Rukia's existence is disappearing, fading into white. ---fear and impatience are stimulating Ichigo.

Um, I don't know about SOME PEOPLE but, if there was someone in my life whom I couldn't bear the thought of never having met, and the mere notion of her disappearing from my life and existence itself, forever, fills me with absolute dread and fear, and all I can think about is what I can do to get her back RIGHT NOW... yah, if that's not LOVE, then I don't know WHAT it is!

Swearing on Rukia's existence, what is the future of Ichigo's battle that turns everything into enemy? The two's bond that is intertwining, a deeply moving story, please make sure about it in the theater.

Ichigo desperately running around Soul Society, searching for Rukia. Believing that only Rukia, she must be the only one who remembers him.

Third * Completely changed Rukia

In the middle of chaos in Seireitei, Ichigo is searching for Rukia's reiatsu. Barely alive, he finally reach Rukia's place, only the one he's facing is the completely changed Rukia. She's not wearing shihakushou but a white clothings instead. With a scythe in her hands, she attacked Ichigo mercilessly. Will she remember Ichigo? And will Ichigo able to bring Rukia back? What their fate will become?

OMG!

This entire scene breaks my heart! All broken and barely alive, only to find that his Rukia has become Dark!Rukia, who then attacks him mercilessly?!


I SWEAR, THAT FACE-CUPPING SCENE HAD BETTER LAST LONGER THAN 30 SECONDS, AND THAT LAST SCENE HAD BETTER HAVE TONS OF EYESMEX TO MAKE UP FOR ALL THE ANGST!!

Lol, what a great article! ♥ You're right, the way it was written was, indeed, squee-worthy! And re the journalist, he/she probably *is* neutral, which makes it all the more awesome! It only goes to show that, even any normal Bleach fan, who reads the manga, can SEE the "close bond" that Ichigo and Rukia have, as well as the "love" that exists between them (no matter how it defines their relationship at this stage). The point is that they're both the most IMPORTANT person in each other's lives.

The interactions between Ichigo & Rukia have only affected them in positive ways, and their influences on each other have only helped them to GROW, both individually and together. Ever since they met, and became a part of each other's lives, they have both become MUCH happier. ♥ And the things that they have both done for one another are not things that just anyone can provide. This kind of Ichigo was the first. Why he became like that, because the subject is Rukia. "Right, it's Rukia! I will said it 100 or even 200 more times so remember!" something like that. That kind of romantic speech, Ichigo is saying that, it was very important to me. "Wonderful! Ichigo, what happened? You're so young! (a statement Japanese said to a person in love)" something like that (laugh)

There, you see? FAIL!ICHIGO became that way because of RUKIA. Because Rukia had forgotten him. But then, KUBO-SAMA wrote ROMANTIC SPEECH for Ichigo to say to her so that he could bring her back, and so that she'd remember him!

NOW QUIT TELLING ME THAT ICHIGO WANTS TO KEEP SHOUTING LOVEY-DOVEY WORDS TO SOMEONE HE THINKS OF AS A SISTER!!!

HAHA, as expected, Oririn is more controlled than Morita is. Then again, it's also very much in-character, since they're mostly voicing their thoughts in a way that closely fits the characters they play. Ichigo has always been more direct and obvious with his feelings while, like Oririn mentions in her part of the interview, Rukia tended to hide her feelings so that they never showed on the outside.

It was their first time that they were not aiming at the same purpose

In this year’s movie we are able to see a different Rukia?

Usually Rukia is supporting Ichigo while standing one step behind him, and even if they were separated Rukia and Ichigo always aimed for the same goal. But because in this year’s movie, because Rukia lost her memory (and her heart) she was not looking at the same direction as Ichigo. They were both separated.

I really love that Oririn mentions how Rukia has always been a support for Ichigo, which goes well with Morita's mention of how Rukia is Ichigo's emotional supporter, and that, simply because she always has his back, he's able to find confidence in himself. So sweet! <3 Also loved that bit about them always going in the "same direction". Again, Morita & Oririn appear to be on the same wavelength as each other, and us fans! ♥

This year’s movie “BLEACH”, I think it is a work where it is made after many piles of work. In the beginning Ichigo and Rukia met each other and because they both walked a lot of histories it was able to be connected to here.

What is the highlight to this year’s movie?

The part where Rukia turns into dark Rukia and battles Ichigo. For the fans I believe it is a very thrilling event. It was the first time where Rukia and Ichigo turned their blades on each other. And also the bit where Rukia’s feminine side is shown, where as before, it was not portrayed too much. The mother like feeling she had towards the sibling is also another highlight for the movie.

LOL, AGAIN?! HOW MANY MORE TIMES ARE THEY GOING TO ASK THIS??? AS IF THE ANSWER WASN'T ALREADY AS OBVIOUS AS MORITA'S FANBOY LOVE FOR RUKIA!

Still. Glad to know that the Ichigo vs. Rukia fight is what everyone's most looking forward to! IT'S GOING TO BE SOOOOOO EPIC!!!!!

Any other character Fumiko-san recommends?

In the movie its Byakuya (laughs). In this year’s movie he is shown heavily and it also shows how much he cares for Rukia. Also Kon. Finally he steals the performance in the 3rd movie. In this years movie I was very glad Kon was there.

More Nii-sama! <33 I want see how he expresses his care for Rukia in the movie. ♥ Lol, you know, since, from what we saw in the spoiler summary, he was all but ready to "end" the havoc that Dark!Rukia was apparently causing! Luckily, Ichigo was quick to jump in with his objections!

And Kon, gotta love that lil' plushie! ♥ I'm glad he was there with Ichigo too, and temporarily taking over Rukia's duties (sort of) of keeping FAIL!ICHIGO in check! Plus, his being there really makes it feel more like the KK-arc days. <3

Yes it is. As I was voicing her I felt the change. Usually Rukia is not the sort of person to show her emotions on the outside, so when I was voicing her I made sure I was hiding my emotions. But this year’s Rukia, there was no lid to hold her emotions and so I think a different part of Rukia is portrayed.

Hopefully, Ichigo will be there to see them...

Okay due to the fact that the power went out at my place, and I was busy all day at work, I couldn't make a post about the KT interview

Forgive me if I'm just summarizing what everyone else is saying, I just felt the need to add my two cents.

First of all, I would like to celebrate. It's always good to see another nail in the coffin for their ship, and the interview provided plenty to sink their ship, not because of what was said, because they weren't ever acknowledged.

I have no idea what the other faction is celebrating, because the interview only emphasized how KT knows that the most important bond in the story is the IchiRuki bond. Whether romantic, platonic, in-between, it is the BOND that will receive development. And as an IchiRuki fan this makes me giddy as possible to have the IchiRuki bond be highlighted as the most special and the main one of the manga. Origo, RenRuki...any other potential rivals will not matter in the end because Kubo knows which bond is crucial to his manga. As an IchiRuki fan it vindicates my ship and makes sense within the context of the manga.

Orihime was jealous of the IchiRuki bond, remember chapter 199, and the look in 213, because she understood that no matter what, her relationship with Ichigo would never ever compare to that one of Ichigo and Rukia. The HM arc showed that Ichigo solely thinks of Orihime as a simple nakama, and not one that he vowed to his soul to protect...he only saved that for Rukia.

So, yes, people this is a good thing that KT is talking about Ichigo and Rukia, and not even acknowledging any other rival pair for this ship. I am happy with this interview. The other faction for so long has kept demanding that IchiHimeRuki is a love triangle, and that IchiHime is being developed as a romantic relationship that rivals IchiRuki. But but but...if this was really true why hasn't Kubo ever mentioned them in an interview as a romantic possibility? Why hasn't KT ever drawn them as a potential pair in color spreads or covers? Why hasn't KT given Ichigo dialogue and inner monologue that shows he cares deeply for Orihime. He hasn't because KT knows that there's no future for IchiHime and it's not significant enough to talk about. Nobody really asks about it either so what's the point.

As for the quote "More than friends, less than lovers". It's true, they're not dating. They haven't confessed. They haven't acted lovey dovey. He didn't say anything denying the possibility of them becoming lovers. And he didn't say anything about possible romantic feelings they have for each other...which 213/270 can definitely be interpreted as. Besides the line between deep bond and romance isn't a clear-cut one, it's easy to cross-over. I don't think KT is sitting there thinking to himself, "I must make sure to present IchiRuki as more than friends, less than lovers all the time". It's definitely romantic to swear to your soul to save a girl. It''s definitely romantic to save a girl from her imminent death by appearing right in front of her and saying "yo." The situations are romantic, the characters have uttered romantic things, but they are not lovers yet.

Besides, KT himself refused to confirm or deny whether he was going to make Ichigo and Rukia a couple in a previous interview. If IchiRuki isn't romantic, he could have just denied it, but he refused to...so obviously it's a possibility.

In the end, I'm just glad KT is thinking about IchiRuki so much. It shows how much he loves them together.

Also Navi, your banner is wonderful. Sketchy your IchiRuki drawing is great, I love the colors and the intensity. Thank you Sketchy and Melody for the translations you've been doing. You're really valuable to this fc.

Because this hasn't been brought up yet, I'll mention it:

You know, when I read Kubo's interview, the "infamous line" isn't what struck me the most initially. It was when he said something like, "I was reminded once again on how unique/deep of a bond Ichigo and Rukia have". And I thought to myself... "Reminded? Did he forget or something?" But how I ended up interpreting it is this:

As I am also a writer/artist, sometimes you set your characters up together from the beginning as if they're destined () to be together. Well, if you have that mindset from the get go, you kind of get used to the ideas in your head and may not feel as much excitement about it, especially if there's been an absence of said couple in your work. So I think, when Kubo got to see this IchiRuki movie in production, and the finished product, it may have sparked up his IchiRuki spirit and made him realize, once again, just how special they are to each other.

And as I result of that, I think we may get more inspired scenes in the manga.

That's what I was talking about when I once said, some versions ago, that this movie and the positive reaction from the public to it could have some influence on the manga. He's damn lucky I don't know Japanese, or he would learn about my long sentences and romantic fits by force, eheheh ^^

Aww, that's all Ichigo needs. As long as Rukia remembers him, everything's fine. That reminds me so much of Ichigo's song, where he says "The name behind the tears, if you could remember it then nothing else would matter." And then when he realizes that she doesn't remember him

Okay, I have never cried during a movie. I'm really not one for that. I've been touched by a lot of scenes, but have NEVER cried. This, however, might be the moment that changes that. At the very least, I'll come close. This entire time, Ichigo is searching for Rukia certain that she'll remember him and having faith in their bond. And he's barely alive, . Seeing Rukia like that's gonna break his heart. His reaction to this is gonna kill me.

Oh, and that face cupping scene better be EPIC!! That's all I need to say about that.

AHHHH, I just want to see it. I don't have to speak Japanese to understand what's going on. It will still be very touching.

Right, now, all I have to say is that I'm happy that the Japaneses fans have the same interpretation as us; I mean, I had a discussion with spacecat yesterday over that bit of interview (actually, it started randomly more than anything ), but he told me that Kubo was being really ambiguous. Basically, Japanese is always vague, but when it comes to relationship, love and dating, they close up even more, so the language cannot be translated word by word.
