appearance: His distinguishing features are the halo-like collar on his uniform jacket and his oversize zanpakuto in the shape of two connected crescents. He is also one of the tallest characters in Bleach. His Hollow hole is through his left eye socket; he customarily covers it with an eyepatch. His mask fragment consists of upper and lower jawbones surrounding his Hollow hole and across his forehead.
personality: While termed a "beast" by characters within the series, his flashbacks indicate that there is more to him than first appearances.

聖哭螳螂 (サンタテレサ): “Santa Teresa”
聖 (sei): holy, sacred, saint
哭 (nageku): weep, lament, wail, sorrow
蟷 (to): mantis
螂 (ru): mantis

The last two kanji are read together as “kamakiri” (lit. “scythe-cut” but also “praying mantis”).

Hence, why Nnoitra is wielding a scythe that Sensei refers to as a guillotine in ch 286 ("Guillotine You Standing"). Guillotines behead their targets. Female praying mantises behead their male partners. If this is Nnoitra's personality, his Hollow form is a female mantis.

In one of Sensei's previous manga (Zombie Powder), there's a character who bears a certain resemblance to Nnoitra: Ulrika Wismar. She's the only other character of his whose hair permanently covers the left eye. She also has similar colouring and body structure to Nnoitra.

Her weapon of choice: a scythe.

It's great to see all the dubbed stuff together in one place. (Thanks, Silver Fang!) At least he doesn't sound like Dean Venture anymore! I hope it keeps up while Nnoitra is fighting Zaraki, it's only a few more episodes with Nnoitra speaking. Who knows when Nnoitra might show up again in the manga after that, so we'd better enjoy seeing him while we can.

What do you guys think of the possibility of Nnoitra ending up in SS? If Nnoitra's last bit in the manga is like Starrk figuring out about Lilynette, there's a high chance that Nnoitra got his heart back. If he's not Hollow, he shouldn't be in HM, right?

How the hell do you plan on him being "not quite dead" (yeah, his being deadwas apparently Jossed by Kubo himself not too long ago) when there's no apparent opportunity coming up in which to reintroduce the remaining Espada?

Yeah. He's doing a great job as Nnoitra. He wasn't too good in episodes 145, 150 and 158-159, but, thank goodness, he is perfect now. His voice is nice and deep, and he really captures Nnoitra's rude side, especially in episode 194.

I mean, I was kind of ambivalent about it initially, like "it'll probably still be fun to watch but his voice is going to seriously bug me," but the fact that he bothered to change up his approach just makes it so much better. I don't think I've been this irrationally happy about a character's voice changing since Funimation redubbed One Piece. xP

Yeah. Nnoitra's voice is perfect not He sounds young to me though. I mean, looking at Nnoitra, he seems to be in his mid-twenties to early thirties. But, he sounds like he's 19 to early twenties.

Only problem I have is I just wish his Nnoitra laugh was a bit crazier. I'm a sucker for a villain with a crazy laugh.

^ Don't get me wrong. He's doing a great job as Nnoitra. He doesn't overact, and the laugh is good. It's just got nothing on Nobutoshi Kanna's Nnoitra laugh.
