Well it could simply be talking about the strength stat.

I mean, we know those are higher for hollows than shinigami anyways, cause vastarodes, by default, are high captain level.

So maybe the idea is to just allow shinigami to reach that higher reiatsu area, while the rest stays the same?

I think it should be discussed in a thread of its own. Please compare, discuss, rate, give your opinions and so on of the captains and their stats. First off, what do we all think? Do you feel they are fair assessments(given by Kubo himself of course) or do you feel some are overrated/ underrated by what we've seen from them? Yes it's a technical potential chart and although we can't take all of it to heart it's interesting to see how certain characters with greater stats can be felled by those with lower. Another factor ( although not centric, needs to be addressed) is Ichigo. Where do you all feel his stats lie? Has he peaked at any of his stats, yet not realized his potential entirely, or does he remain oblivious to it and is just progressing with the story with Kubo's pace?

Potential doesn't matter. Willpower is everything in this manga. If Yamamoto turned to "the Dark Side", his noob VC would defeat his ass upon realising that "it's not Cpt Yamamoto anymore".

Agreed, I don't think this chart would come any handy for anything at all.

This chart isn't that useful because there are several other factors which you've to take into account such as the nature of their zanpakutos' spirit (Aizen could have 10 everywhere, he could still pawn his enemies because of KS in my opinion).
Moreover, I don't think it's precise enough. For example, what does Kidou mean ? Raw power ? Skill ? Knowledge ? The three of them ?
And with the appearance of hybrids, these stats are no longer up-to-date. Komamura has 100 in strength and offensive power but Tousen was able to block his attackes when using his hollow powers.

Just before people start the ordinary "OMG, I've added the numbers together and have the official captain strongest-to-weakest list and OMG-OMG, my cute lil' Shirou-chan is stronger than Ukitake and most of the other captains, WAAAHHH *fangurl scream*" I must write it down:

These stats are NOT (I say again: NOT) the clear potential numbers compared to the other captains. They are simply saying which areas are the actual ones where xy taichou can develop his/her strengths. So, Byakuya's 90 ATK point is not equal to Shunsui's, etc. Oh, and the zanpakutou abilities are totally missing, so just be careful with the "strongest-to-weakest based on this" lists...

I agree, that this list is due for an update. I would like to see the espada's power levels as well. And some of these category are inconsistent IMO. For example when someone says strength when it comes to fighting I assume we are talking about if some one was to cut or punch a foe or any kind of physical attack, how much damage would be infllcted. They should have just named it fitness instead of strength. instead of putting fitness in ( ). But then you have offensive power which could be damage from a zanpaktou attack, a sword slash, a punch, or kidou. But then Kidou has its own category which doesnt clearly state rather its how much kidou you know or how much damage it can inflict. i think this is the exact reason why kubo writes the way he does because if you went by these levels half the captains would be dead. He even knows its inconsistent.

I dont understand this chat at all. If one has got 90 in kido then that means he has achieved 90% of his potential or this scale is universal rather than individual based? I mean is 100 a benchmark for everyone?

Not exact. For example: Hitsugaya has 80 DEF points as well as Unohana, so that would mean their def powers are the same which is bullcrap. So, technically yeah, 100 is the maximum for everyone, but xy's 100 are not the same as yz's.
