Is it possible that Hadou 96 was also not perfect? (Im pretty sure Yama being half-dead cant do kidou effectively)

Most likely it was... Which means Hadou 99 (or 100) would be Ryuujin Jakka lvl kidou in max power... No wonder they dont use it!

it never said he did die nor is it stating he's dead its basically saying HE's ON THE BRINK/VERGE OF DEATH because he took the fulll force of his own power

Nobody fires Hadou 96 when they're about to die.

Also the spell is Ittou Kasou (One Stroke Cremation) if anyone's interested. The spoiler was confused about blade or spell but it's because the name of the spell involves the kanji for katana in Ittou.

Plus the power level of the spell doesn't entirely rest on the number but also on the power of the wielder. Think of Byakuya's byakurai. Would you want to meet that at close range? It's a combination of both things, just more powerful shinigami can raise more powerful spells.

And yeesh, Yama released that without an incantation, too.

If he is dead now it's because he immolated himself in his spell. But hopefully aizen will stop being smug and actually fight some now.

It's not that he got critically injured but his face is clearly wounded and there was wounds in his chest and probably all over his body as his clothes are all damaged aswell.

The matter is that Aizen has finally got an injure which is not a trival lucky made one, he got definately off balance this time.

Aizen clothing wasn't even damage at all; I guess he fireproof his own clothes too. But he somewhat has burn marks on his face, as he came out distorted and manage to pick himself up quickly and fighting stance while Ichigo was just merely above him dawning his Hollow mask. I can see Ichigo getting another fighting advice from Aizen again... ORZ

The point is not the nature of the injure Aizen received, the point is that he was finally caught off guard this time and trown out of balance.

He is finally bleeding like a mortal does and showing emotions that go past the always calm sunofabitch that owns people easily.

In other words Aizen is now vulnerable and will have to use a serious amount of his being to fullfil his goals further rather than playing around.

Aizen this time didn't see Ichigo coming for him whereas last time he had a kidou barrier set to cover his blindspot.

I hope this opening finally worth our reading because it was really hard to get it.
