Human Trafficers and Sexual Offenders. Should they be put to death?

This came from the horrible and tragic death of 5 year old Shaniya Davis

Her mother was a crack, heroin, and meth addict. She sold her daughter for sex. Because of that that little girl is dead. She was sexually assaulted and then murdered. She suffered for at least a week.

This "carrier" (she's NOT a mother) may get five years probation and I forgot but maybe 5 years or less.

In my opinion she's just as guilty as the bastards who did it. In my opinion people like that can't be reformed. I don't think it's fair they should have any sort of life when they have destroyed so many others.

I believe human traffickers are just as bad as the scum they pedal to. A lot of those children and women are murdered.

So I believe that every last one of them should die. It could be because I would rather die than to hurt my children. I would kill any of you if it meant saving my child. I am not trying to hear that "she was victim. She was sick from drugs" that is no excuse.

I think the laws should be changed. She should also be charged with murder.
She sold her to people who killed her. In my eyes she's just as guilty and she should get the death penalty.

Child molesters are sometimes physically castrated. Yet it doesn't stop their depraved urges. It makes it worse because then they use objects--

Why should filth like that live. Do you think they should be imprisoned for life. Or should we do this world a favor and kill them all?

I've read this story too, and it just made me feel so angry and sick, this a Mother who basically betrayed her own flesh and blood which was embodied in her daughter.

Thus in that moment of anger, I would have agreed with you OD, that she deserves the 'Death Penalty.'

However, in my more relaxed and rational state, Im not really sure if that would be correct.

I feel this argument is similar to a Drug Dealers Debate that was here on the BA before, about them too deserving the Death Penalty for being Indirectly/Directly (thats up in the Air in both these situations) responsible, for the Deaths of Drug Addicts.

There was no consesus reached, and people seemed to be arguing from extreme ends of the spectrum, so it got nowhere in the End.

I dont know..I think the Woman is scum, and should be Die of some accident or natural cause, I'd laugh at her Fate..but the Death Penalty..hhmmm

If I am with you and you kill someone. BOTH of us are on trial for murder in MOST states (one or two don't enforce this law)

Why should she be any diffrent. She was a accessory to murder. Her actions set events in motion that ended with a depraved and senseless slaughtering of a helpless little girl. If she could do that to her own flesh. Who says she won't kidnap a child and do it again

She is just as guilty as the person who actually killed her.

I read that too, and it made me literally sick to my stomach. Shaniya didn't deserve any of this. At all.

Personally, I think her mother should be put to death. The fact that she sold her daughter for prostitution and left that little girl in the arms of some jackoff..she deserves no sympathy. She deserves the ultimate price, as well as the person who murdered that little girl.

But from what I hear here thats just sick.
For me she is just as guilty as the sick bastards who did it. She knew what she was doing and fully willingly sold her.
I'm not saying she was aware the child would die - thats a tragic coincidence but she should've known that such things can happen and how those people were and I doubt that she gave a f*ck about the girl.
All that obviously mattered to her was the money to buy more drugs.

Dunno how it is with the law in other countries but in germany it's one big joke.
You rape kids and get a few years or non and get a (nonsense) rehab just to be out on the streets again and then he goes on with the raping again.
But if you copy CD's or so you sit longer in jail than when you abuse children - sounds horrible but it's true.

But what should I say about a country where we have offender protection and not victim protection.

Anyway I'm pro death penalty - ever was, ever will be.

Those who take others life are a danger for the society and no rehab or such will do.

Personally I disagree with "when we kil lthem we aren't better than them" or "we don't have the right to judge over his life" -> did he has the right to judge over his victims lives? Why should we treat him better than he treated his victims?

I'm sick of seeing them free within a few years - the dead child, husband or sister will never return to their family yet he can still live his life + todays prisions aren't that bad (even though you are the lowest of the low as a child abuser)

I'm not buying this "such behaving isn't civilized" -> so what?
I don't see anything wrong with punishing them the same way as they did with their victims.

My opinion might be influenced from personal experiences but that how I feel.

There was also video footage of a man carrying Shaniya to an elevator in a motel. Like is said it pisses me off that a child was suffering because the stupid bitch wanted to get her rocks off.

She deserves to die just as much as the POS bastard that killed Shaniya.

Azley I think you raise a good point about the spectrum of punishment for different offenses, but you in your post you raised my hidden thought about why I dont think the Death Penalty should be handed to the Woman, when you said.....

There was NO INTENT from the Woman, to kill the Girl, but simple, shameful and sickingly abuse the Child for her own gain.

I think your right that those that Kill based on intent, deserve to be killed in turn by a process of the Law, and this is what that pitiful Woman lacks in order to be even eligiable for the Death Penalty I think.

Im not saying that Sex Offenders arent a threat or Child Abuse is a minor crime, not at all, but I dont really think sentencing them to Death is correct.

That's so sickening. Shaniya looked like such a sweet girl, and to die like that while being tortured for a week... That's disgusting! It's wrong to hate people, and it's probably wrong to say this, but I hate the 'guardian' slightly more than I hate the murderer.

A mother is supposed to make a child feel safe, secure, and loved. This woman...ugh! There are no words to describe such a vile, atrocious person. There's a lot of karmic debt piling up for her, I'm happy to say...

She knew what she was doing! She may not have known her daughter would DIE, but she did know she was subjecting her daughter to emotional trauma, abuse, and so many things NO ONE should have to go through, let alone a FIVE YEAR OLD! I hate the 'guardian'. I wish she would be charged for murder because her actions led up to it. Her stupid, selfish desires led to the death of a child. Inexcusable.

However, I don't like the Death Penalty, but I think she should get 15 to life in prison, maybe a possibility for parole. I'm only saying this because I don't know if she can change, or if she really regrets her actions, whether she is mentally stable...

She obviously has nothing positive to contribute to society, except money to drug dealers. Even if she does get 5 years probation, I hope children's services will be watching her very carefully.

Sometimes, I think the world is so messed up. Things can get better, and will long after I'm gone, but hearing stuff like this... Things look good until you see and hear stuff like this. Then you see how badly things are. It'll take a lot to improve. Our justice system, for one.

I really don't think that human traffickers should be put to death, no more than I think drug dealers should be. The death penalty should be reserved for people who actually kill others with their own hands IMO, if it is to be used at all (which is debatable). If we start using the death penalty for this, where will it end? Will we start killing thieves, drug dealers, pimps? It's a very slippery slope. That being said, I think this person should get a much harsher sentence than 5 years. 20 years to life seems appropriate to me.

Well I do think she is definitely as guilty as the people who killed her themselves.

Um but probably I have with this question is that I dont think that anybody should be put to death, for anything. I dont like the death penalty....

what good does it do? the little girl cant be brought back, nothing good comes out of killing the mother. I think she gets more of a punishment sitting in jail for the rest of her life eating crap and being tortured by her inmates than anything else.

Death is an easy way out imo : D
