Kurosaki Ichigo. With the meeting with this human, my destiny changed. Ichigo claims I was the one who changed his destiny. But, my destiny also changed due to coming across Ichigo. Ichigo’s way of thinking, which is not affected by what other people think, changed the old custom of Soul Society. And because of that my relationship with Nii-sama (Byakuya) changed as well. I was also able to talk with Renji like the old times.

Listening to the whole drama CD, it's obvious the IchiRuki one had the most deep full meaning to it. While other just explained Rukia's life along the way in the Ichigo's one Rukia emphasizes how her life changed and it basically sums up her whole life.

I personally don't know how to take in chapter 270 but for me I think Ichigo just thought rashly so whatever came into his mind, he did it at that stage. I would have been satisfied if he went to Rukia however one of the reason why I think he decided to stay was, before they separated Rukia told him that she doesn't need his protection. Another reason is because their main mission was to rescue Orihime. Also Ulq was right in front of him and because he developed more reason to take him down he just fought him there.
Also with Rukia he still had hope. He is not the only one there in HM. 2 other people are there (Renji and Ishida since Chad is down) so the odds were, while someone else could have rescued Rukia, knowing more information on Orihime, and taking down Ulq was only then and there.
If he just went for Rukia then and there, the consequence would have been he didn't take down someone who was the reason behind one of his friend in HM. That would mean his purpose into achieving his power is no longer because he wishes to protect his family and friends but for something else. Ulq gave a hint about knowing someone about Orihime but mentioning her name. And since their main mission is to rescue Orihime it did make more sense that he went for Ulq right then and there.
To me that scene didn't nail IchiRuki but it didn't nail IchiOri either. Ichigo could have asked more question about her whereabouts, then leave Ulq to rescue Rukia but Ichigo's mind when he heard Rukia is dead was just full of Rukia.
