You seems to love the idea of 10 new, completely undeveloped characters showing up without any kind of introduction, defeating the good guys, looking cool and making every chapter with the previous Espada pointless.

I mean, it's bad enough when the Espada we all grew fond of managed nothing on their combats. But if now some random, half recycled guys show up and kick ass, it's even worse. Grimmjow, Noitora, Ulquiorra, Barragan, Hallibel, would be less than trash.
Kubo would be giving us the deserved Arrancar glory, but on the wrong dish.

That's also true, there's always some leeway for the powers of Vasto lordes to fluctuate, but I hope we can agree that if a Vasto lorde would be arrancarized, it can take nothing less than one of the top 3 shinigami or even them combined to take such a hybrid down

Or of course a hybrid from the opposite end aka Vizard.

I will give an example of a manga which knows very well how to build suspense and not make the villians seem like fodder. You all should do very well to remember this: D-gray man. No way in that manga would you see the villians reduced to fodder status like in Bleach. And that manga is also a shonen one. Good guys die there all the time.

The main Villain in Bleach is Aizen (Gin and Tousen)

The Arrancar are pawns. It isn't D-Grayman. Can't we like or dislike without the comparisons?

Aizen said once he completed Espada with VL no one would stand on their way. Since Aizen began the war he found VL. Ulquiorra and Yammy probably were wrong thinking Aizen has 10 arrancar in Espada, they didn't know he has some additional VL reinforcements which would have another name. That's bad cause actually I sense arrancar -1, -2.. "plot twist". Then Yammy is Zero and most probably the last Adjuchas. If Top-3 are not VL, ot even Starrk is the only VL, the weakest one, I guess this scenario is confirmed.

I hope we got new spoilers soon to clarify what's in the chapter..

you have a point there deidara senpai, i read on another thread that maybe there could be a negative espada number , which would make sense following the yammy riyalgo revalation i mean after 0, you can only go -1 -2 etc..., that would work for me.

when aizen said that comment about the about VL.

it could mean two things
1 - he doesn't have any and is still looking for 10 to perfect the espada then know one will stand in his way.

OR

2- he has 1 or 2, and still needs 8 more to finally perfect the espada.

back on topic, i can't wait for the summary and pics to come out, i can't believe bleach has become awesome again, i mean during pein Vs naruto fight bleach was kinda dull in a way.

Hmmmm, to clear up the 20 brothers and sisters thing. You have to remember that all of Grimmjow's fraccion were at that meeting, that's 15 people right there. Then there's fat guy and leaf-head, so now we're up to 17. That means that there were only 3 people at that meeting that were never confirmed. They were either more fraccion, or more nameless arrancar that will never be seen again.

Then why have Aizen make that particular statement, at that moment in time, with such numerical specificity?

Since the "20 brothers" comment followed right on the heels of Toshiro saying that SS would be doomed if Aizen ever gathered a mere 10 VLs together, I've always suspected that there had to be at least a few VLs waiting in the shadows.

Whenever I've brought this up (seriously, I've made about a dozen posts on this) I have been politely shot down with the argument that Aizen was DEFINITELY referring to fraccions as well as Espada. But let's face it -- the math doesn't work. We needed only TEN unknowns to fill out the ranks that Aizen referred to, right? Well....

For those who've pointed out Aizen was only referring to the Espadas' fraccion, thank you for your input, it was most appreciated. But I can count. I am STILL of the belief that because of the ominous timing of both Toshiro's statement of "10 VLs = SS Doom" and Aizen's "20 brothers" statement being back-to-back, the author did some in-your-face foreshadowing here. Foreshadowing which just might be leading to The Shadow lurking in this week's chapter.

I'm personally hoping the ominous Shadow will be Barragan. I'd love to see him pissed off and primed and ready to laugh in the face of Stinger missile action, BUT!... I won't cry "PLOTKAI!" if The Shadow turns out to be a VL waiting in the wings. I won't necessarily like having a new face appear like Hogwarts-magic in the FKT battle, but I can't say it wasn't set up in the chapters beforehand. What's more, if there are VLs ready to be revealed, this would really make total sense of Aizen's icily confident comment of not even having to lift a finger to win this particular battle.

No matter what the Shadow proves to be, I'm looking forward to seeing what new levels of badassery there is to be achieved from "The Shadow."

Well the point of the comparison is to show that even the pawns kick good guy ass in the aforementioned manga. And thus because they kick good guy ass there is actual tension in the storyline

Good guys there don't nearly have it as easy as in this manga
