It sucks because what I read, is that people think she's happy/emotionless of everything that is going on at the moment. Hello!? Did you not see her reaction to Chad and Rukia's 'death'??? Orihime is DEEPLY hurting that this is happening to her friends. That's what I think... If Ichigo wins this fight. [ HE BETER or I'll die ] Orihime will probably bring up Chad and Rukia to Ichigo. It's not going to be a easy thing to do. The SS arc was alot easier then this. I mean, Ichigo did had the help of Yoriuchi [ helped to gain bankai ] and then had Renji [ who turned against SS orders ] and then had 10th and the 11th Divisions helping them [ Am I missing people? ] @-@;

That is, reccing all those fanfics, fanarts, avatars, banners, wallpapers, music videos, etc that revolve around Orihime here, in the thread, so we may then compile it on the first thread. Since the current chapters involve Orihime greatly, I was wondering if people can insert a little reccommendation in their post despite their discussion of Orihime as a character. Does this make more sense? :)

Lastly, the part about pairigs: I meant that while I'd rather see Orihime-centric fanworks, pairing fanworks would work too, if it involved some insight into Orihime somehow. Hope this is better worded!

Really, what's not to like? Oh right... she's "annoying", "stupid", and a "klutz". -_-;

These anti-Hime arguments are getting old. I suppose the "old" Orihime could be annoying to some, but her growth since since has been amazing. Stupid? Orihime is one of the smartest in her class. A klutz? She could be sometimes, but she's also shown maturity and her caring nature is what we love about her. She has a tendency to rush into situations without thinking, sometimes leading to embarrassing consequences. But what does it matter? All of her traits make Orihime who she is.

Some say she depends on Ichigo too much.

Recently? I beg to differ.

We have been shown that Orihime no longer wants to depend on Ichigo, but rather, walk side by side with him. She desires recognition, and will stop at nothing until she is able to obtain it. Kubo stated Orihime would become an important character, and I think it's been evident she has. [Healing the dead? Aizen interested in her?]

She is friendly, sensitive, beautiful, and kind. She can come off rather clueless, but shows understanding later on. Orihime has become a more complex character than her earlier archetype suggested. Where Orihime was more happy and goofy at the start of the series, later arcs deal with her feelings of inadequacy and inner turmoils. [For the record, I loved how she was put on the front cover with all the other female leads that time on the Week Shounen Jump. If anyone remembers that. They were at the beach. <3] In the latest chapters, she was able to stand up to Ulquiorra, while still demonstrating that she does indeed believe in Ichigo. All in all, I'd say that it's pretty evident Orihime is not a pushover.

So yeah... In sum: Orihime is win. :) Sorry for my ranting. o.o;

Yeah, I don't get why some people are disliking the new Orihime. She's strong. I love her development. I mean, she can't be cute and klutzy all the time and this is a very serious time for Orihime. So of course she's not going to be her 'old' self. She also standed up against Grimmjow, not once... but two times. n_n;

Indeed. One thing about Orihime that stands out IS her development. I think Kubo made her a klutz and weak in the beginning on purpose. He probably planned to expand her growth and show us later on how much she changed. And for the better. Who ever does not see Orihime's development must be blind.

I wouldn't mind if she stayed there. If she gets involved [like, trying to stop Grimm and Ichigo from fighting], then I would be a bit disappointed. I have a feeling that she knows it's their fight and that she shouldn't stop them. Right now, I'd say watching him fight is best. Later on, however, I would very much like to see her fight side by side with him, just like she vowed. ^^

Indeed. Orihime isn't JUST Ichigo-centric. But, he is a very important part of her character. People who just assume he doesn't matter or is the only thing that matters don't understand her character. Her character focuses on improving, and growing in more ways than one.

Agreed. Ichigo and Grimmjow's fight is their's and their's alone. I don't think she'll get involved; fighting wise. Right now, she's watching and believing in Ichigo from the side lines. That's good enough for me. :)

As for Orihime, I don't think she'll get involved or interrupt Ichigo and Grimmjow's fight. She knows this is something between them. As for her feelings about being a burden, that's what she felt in chapter 228. However, I believe she is working on her way to overcoming that and it started with her resolve to destroy the hougyoku. Aizen' hasn't been making it easy for her though as he's trying his best to break her. I think what's she's gone through will only make her stronger though.

Hmm, let me find something I wrote about it... lol. Found it! This is what I had posted in the IchiHime thread... I edited out the "What Ichigo thinks" so it's just Inoue. :)

And I just saw the raw and I take back what I said about her being scared. I don't see it as fear, but more like shock/surprise, maybe a little fear but the shock and surprise take the cake. I mean, who wouldn't be shocked? Ichigo has a Hollow mask, can take bullets (whatever those things Grimmjow threw) and not winse, talk strangely hot. For a few seconds, he's super human, almost like if he was an Espada! I definitely think Rukia would react the same way, just like Ishida and Chad, heck even Isshin! I've said something similiar like this back in FLOL. Orihime is the first one of Ichigo's friends to see him in tihs form. I think it's stupid how people say they're bond will break... Um... No? Seriously, do you think someone who's gone through a lot with Ichigo and loves him so much will 'run' away? I don't think so. I agree with Nocture about the whole building up thing. Chapter 237 should have just been thrown out the window if Orihime was/is going to turn away and break the bond and fall out of love. There's a difference between wanting and what's happening. Kubo is the writer, not us.

Right now, she's just standing there saying his surname without moving and he's probably wondering if she'll think of him as a monster or something. But I don't think Orihime would EVER think that of a friend, ESPECIALLY Ichigo, whom she feels more than a friend. The look Orihime gives in the last panel is proof (at least to me) that she KNOWS what Ichigo is thinking (If Ichigo is thinking what I said up there, about her being scared and her reaction.) and feels bad for just looking like she was looking or something along the lines like that.


That's what I think! :D

Well I don't think she's fearful of his mask the way some people are fearful of... spiders for example. Her 'fear' is mostly, I think, in regards to him and what that mask is doing to him and how it could potential harm him in the future.

Ichigo appeared to take on a different personality then what we're used to seeing; he's enjoying this fight. Ichigo rarely fights for the sake of fighting and for the adrenaline rush. I'm sure Orihime noticed the change before it was even shown to us and that's what bothered her. She's frightened for Ichigo, not of Ichigo.

I like this song and thought it kind of fit well with Orihime. When I went to the Anime Expo, Chiaki Ishikawa (she was there and I got to see her! :D) explained how the song was about how when we're born in our genes, we're already installed with feelings. Nell is supposed to do that for Orihime, whom was still caught up in the fear. :> As far as i'm concerned, her hesitation was somewhat justified after all Ichigo in vaizard mode is a pretty scary dude. She wanted to believe it was Ichigo fighting and not some other power she detected, and Nell's speech cemented her beliefs that it was him. However, everyone would rather see it as Orihime wanting nothing to do with him even though she was the one that originally supported him, saying he'd win no matter what, and such.

As for the title...

I think it's referring to both of her and Ichigo.

We know Orihime has major guilt trips (and I think her looking down at Ichigo in the last chapter was a sign of her feeling like a horrible person for making Ichigo look so sad), so I really think she was hurting on the inside (for not believing in and supporting Ichigo the way she should be), and Ichigo of course has always been a bit more gentler with Orihime, so I'm assuming that he was "hurting" inside as well, due to the fact that he was scaring her.

As for the title...
I think it's referring to both of her and Ichigo.

We know Orihime has major guilt trips (and I think her looking down at Ichigo in the last chapter was a sign of her feeling like a horrible person for making Ichigo look so sad), so I really think she was hurting on the inside (for not believing in and supporting Ichigo the way she should be), and Ichigo of course has always been a bit more gentler with Orihime, so I'm assuming that he was "hurting" inside as well, due to the fact that he was scaring her.


That's exactly what I was thinking. The whole Orihime being scared of him last chapter hurt them both--we only had an eyeball with Ichigo, but he couldn't have been happy to see fear in her eyes. And yes, that looking down on Orihime's part did look like guilt. The last chapter ended with sadness as far as I interpreted it.

So this chapter is a bright sweep up from th darkness. Nell, cheering. Inoue, reassurred, and Ichigo fighting stronger than ever. I just hope that it DOES end with Ichigo's last hit (this fight is too dern long) and then we can have some actual convo or more insight into Orihime. One of the reasons people have been frustrated with her is that Kubo hasn't been giving her thought bubbles, inner monologue or anything else to tell us what's going on inside her. I REALLY hope the next chapter doesn't leave Orihime--just as her emotions have turned.

And the thing I'm hoping for the most is that she lives up to the vow she made to herself that next time she saw Kurosaki-kun, she wasn't going to need him to protect her. *crosses fingers* Maybe her self-confidence will skyrocket? Maybe we'll have more insight into her powers?

I find it very strange as well that we haven't gotten any thoughts from her (she's usually the main character we DO see the most thoughts from), but I can also understand why KT hasn't done it. There's only so much room and so much you can fit into 19 pages of manga at a time, so there hasn't been much room left over for her thoughts. (and her not showing thoughts might be KT's "writer's secret" kind of thing for some reason that actually has significance other than the fact that he hasn't much room left over for her...if that makes any sense) But I still think it's weird. ^^

Gosh, YES. I want to see her use her offensive powers sooooooo BADLY. She's the only character who hasn't been allowed to strut her stuff yet in this arc (and healing doesn't count in this equasion) and it's darn frustrating! The only thing that keeps me from kerploding is the thought that when she DOES finally use her powers, I'm sure KT will make it simply awesome:D

And since it looks like she'll be needing to help out Ichigo in the next chapter (if, God forbid, KT makes Ichigo's "final blow" too weak **head on desk**), what could be a better opportunity than that? XD

That makes her attitude a little more tenative insofar as cheering goes. The last line T__T I've been waiting for her to say that about her rescuers. Orihime does guilt trip a lot--and this has to be huge.

I now think the title refers to Ichigo---because he's no longer feeling rejected for that ugly mask and he heard the girls cheer him. I think Orihime is still hurting, though.

@debbie I agree completely with what you said. Orihime is easily put into a guilt trip. Rukia understood that feeling and I really want to see more from Orihime next chapter. I think she will want to get to her other friends as soon as possible. She doesn't want anyone hurt and I think it was completely in character for her to just stand there in shock. Glad she was snapped out of it by Nell.

@Eternal Dream I can understand why you wanted Orihime to bust out and show some fighting moves but I still think she has a long way to go before she can do this.

Her character is progressing, I'm glad of it. She lost faith in her friends, which is why she went to HM under the false promise that Ulquiorra and the other Espada wouldn't hurt her friends. Now she is getting over that fear of failure and it's a good sign for her character.

Go Orihime, get that faith back!

Good point--to do anything in life, one has to get over the fear of failure. For most of this arc, Hime's insecurities have been in the forefront. Lack of faith in herself, lack of faith in her friends for not being able to fight for themselves (and so she went with Ulquiorra for fear that they couldn't hold their own against the Arrancar they were fighting) and a lack of faith in Ichigo when she was afraid of (and afraid for) him.

I also think it's nice how Nell snapped her out of her shock sooner, so she'd be able to give Ichigo the encouragement he needed to finish the fight.

I agree manfan, she didn't even care about him wining or him even trying. She just didn't want him to get hurt for her sake anymore. Orihime was just scared of Ichigo because she didn't recognize his eyes and his mask reminded her of Sora. She didn't want what happened to Sora to Ichigo.

I think I said my original opinion before I read the chapter, but I can't remember.:p It doesn't take much to make me change my opinion, or at least ponder one different from my own. I like that you pointed that out, cuz after giving the chapter a few good, slow reads, I think that's a very plausible conclusion to come to. ^____^

Oh, and I've been wondering something. A lot of ppl think she's been OOC lately, and I wonder if it has anything to do with the psychological cage she's in. My original thoughts on it were that Orihime wouldn't be affected by it, but ever since the last(?) chapter where Grimm mentions Orihime being physically okay, but messed up on the inside, I've been re-evaluating that psychological cage and it's importance. I wonder if it's been slowly working it's way into her thoughts, getting her to feel more "emo" then she normally is, making her doubt people she normally wouldn't and whatnot. **shrugs** It's a bit of a stretch, I'll admit, since it's clear that Orihime was scared of the fact that Ichigo was becoming like her brother, but I dunno. The psych cage keeps on popping up in the back of my mind.

I'm one of those people who think Orihime's behavior has been drastically different, but not altogether different for someone in her situation. I do believe that Kubo is emphasizing her "weakness" and fear so that it will be even more dramatic when she flies out of it.

The doubting her friends thing was already there--when Orihime left with Ulquiorra, it was partly because she doubted that her friends would win their battles and she didn't have the foresight to see that they would have to fight eventually anyway so why give up her powers to Aizen (for a smart girl, Hime can make some dumb choices).

The doubting her friends thing seems pathological in HM, though--I mean, she honestly, honestly was wondering if they'd come for her or for some other reason (but hey, there's a war going on--their arrival could have something to do with that, so Orihime wouldn't be totally off the money in considering that). I do agree with you that the psychological cage is doing its job--what would've been an error in judgement before on Orihime's part becomes a great misunderstanding. What would have been a hesitation becomes a conviction.

I agree with you that she doubts her friends more here than she usually would--but that doubt is also coupled with extreme self-doubt. As in--why would they WANT to come for me, they don't care about me, I don't make a difference, I never did....

which is why 283 is so important--Orihime saw that she did make a difference.
I don't know if she's convinced, though. Future chapters will tell.

Like Manfan, I don't think she gave Ichigo authentic encouragement (go, Ichigo go! You're the greatest!). It was an apology of sorts for having been afraid, a message that she didn't want him to get hurt anymore for his sake. Nell was the real cheerleader.

Orihime realized that Ichigo needed her, so that may make her stronger or it may make the fact of her imprisonment worse or the fact that she plans to stay (if that's the case) to destroy the hougyoku even more emotionally painful for her.


Ichigo, too, for the first time, realized that he needed Orihime and this may be the breakthrough that gets him back to acknowledging all those other friends he's mistrusted (Tatsuki, Chad...) because he thinks he can save the world by himself and doesn't want to put anyone in danger.

I LOVED this chapter, it's not a favorite, but I loved it. We got to see Orihime's feelings, her fear and her small 'failure'. Failure being her fear and her whole "minna is saving me again!" (I seriously don't know why I called it a failure... xD but yeah) and gosh, she was just so beautiful in this chapter. Right now, I have my Orihime goggles on. Smile She was drawn so beautifully when she had the tears in her eyes and gosh, I love her even more now. It's shows how human she is and that she is NOT turning into some evil Arrancar!Orihime, she was just scared. I'm soooooo happy.

I hope we get to see more in the next chapter, I'm very happy we're getting to know more about Orihime and her heart and all.

For fanfiction I love reading Orihime becoming evil but it actually happening in cannon makes me waver. I don't want Orihime to change too much from the carefree, happy girl she is. (Though not currently...darn angst.>_<)

But I agree I never expected 100 chapters ago that Orihime would be in HM dressed in the bad guys uniform. She has already been mislead into going there and if they continue the mental manipulation and keep her there of her own will it would be an interesting plot development. It would lead to a lot of angst for her friends who risked everything to enter Heuco Mundo and take her back. I think it's possible that she might renew her resolve and stay to destroy the hougyoku but time will be running out. The hougyoku will be fully awakened soon and then what will she do?

Orihime turning evil is something that I think would forever change the whole of Bleach into something much darker and I prefer the lighter comedy side that comes out in between the shounen battles.

Yeah... I'm alittle annoyed that KT keeps making her helpless.. but I don't blame her. There's nothing she can do during the Ichigo and Grimmjow fight

In this chapter, it showed that she was willing to help Ichigo out, but Telsa showed up.. D:!

She has a chance to prove something, now. Alot of people in the manga thread WANTS Orihime to fight Telsa, which is totally great!

As for me? I don't know. I would like to see something like that... but I have my own doubts. Oh well. x___x;
