A Child Called "It" ..
as much as the story is painful, about a child being abused and treated like an object by his mother. I really want to see how a director would capture the same feeling as the book did.
Samurai Girl ..
I really liked the story, and found that the spoiled main character slowly depends on her self. And solves most of her problems till she finds an answer in the end.

Don't Say A Word by a writer who's name I forgot:(
I know people, I know! this book was poorly made into a movie. I think some might have seen it and when you have not read the book you might think like: well...that was a good film.
Now..as you've read the book and seen the film, like myself (first read the book) then all you wanna do is sharpen your pitchforks, light those torches and meet with the director and screenplay writer. Man...the only thing that was correct were the names (some of them) and that the leading man was a Psychiatrist...
please..read the book and you'll know what I mean!

I kinda agree and don't agree with the child called IT. I think some people might find it a bit off putting.
Fortunately for me, my wish came somehow true a few months ago when HBO and Martin announced that A Song of Ice and Fire was going to be made in a serie. I hope it'll be good <3
I'd also like to see another book of his adapted; Tuf Voyaging. It'd be good XD

I read a book called "Daddy" that was set just after WW2 and this kid genius had all these Nazi bank accounts memorised so people were hunting him. It would make the best movie, I couldn't put the book down. I forget the author I must find out @_@
Also, and I heard rumours it may be, "The Secret History" by Donna Tarte, great story, would make a very good film if they got the right cast.

You read his books? Awesome. I found A Feast for Crows disappointing, though; I'm hoping A Dance With Dragons will be better.
I'd like to see Ender's Game as a movie...and I think it's getting adapted. The Malazan Book of the Fallen series, by Steven Erikson, caught my attention about two years ago, and I think it'd be cool to see that series on the big screen.

"The Sight" by David Clement-Davies is practically made to be a movie! its an amazing book and would make an amazing film if someone wanted to pick it up and do it. id like to see it done in traditional cell animation since that would be most appealing to the eye (at least for me).
"Memory Boy" by Will Weaver is a really good book that could be easily made into a movie since i doubt itd require too many stunts or special effects to pull off. its an interesting story and i love the characters in it. i found it to be really unique.
"Touching Spirit Bear" by Ben Mikalsen (sp?) would make an interesting movie.
theres so many great books dying to be made into a movie D: but all movie makers seem to want to work on are those dumb sequels >.<

The Slave Dancer by Paula Fox. It's a book about a caucasian boy who is kidnapped and forced to work on a slave ship, witnessing the horrors of the slave trade. (I don't know how this is a children's book...)
Beggars' Ride by Theresa Nelson. About a child who runs away from home and lives on the streets of Atlantic City.

I'd like to see something by Agatha Christie made into a film, like an actual, hollywood style movie or something... It's basically crime solving stuff but it keeps you guessing right until the end.
I'd also like to see the "Midnighters" series by Scott Westerfield made into a film. That's just about teenagers with midnight related special powers.

But oh well, I would like to see Foucalt's Pendulum into a series. Because it's a really big book [ <3 ] and every detail is very important - at least for me.

Ender's Game. Although word on the street is that it's already in production. Hopefully they do it well. It's such a beast of a story. World's smartest kids in outerspace having little wars in a box.
Although, of course, the story has more substance than that. :p

Well, I've been waiting for Philip Pullman's "The Golden Compass" for quite a bit of time now, just a couple more months before December...
I'd really like to see Neil Gaiman's "Neverworld" done in film properly. The BBC TV series was kind of flat; it was ambitious but really lacked production values. A pity really.
I'm still waiting for Terry Pratchett-Neil Gaiman's "Good Omens" to happen; it's been "in development" for years. Terry Gilliam's supposed to direct but nothing's happening.

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
The Sandman Series by Neil Gaiman or Death: the Hight Cost of Living, by Neil Gaiman....Anything he wrote about the Endless would make a damn good movie
Stephen King: Dark Tower series, along with the marvel prequel The Gunslinger Born
Ruffy GEAR 2

"The Silmarillion" by Tolkien
my specific the story about "Beren and Luthien" or "The story of the children Hurins"
the first one is every dirctors dream: a forbidden love that survives even dead, adventure and battle and setting to die for. the second one is a drama, there is no happy end but the plot is so deep and the charas. are very complex.

Poison Ivy: No one would ever make this into a book, but it's REALLY good. It's about how a bullied girl gets a "trial" in her Government Class. Three bullies are prosecuted for the cruel "crimes" *bullying, just cruel stuff in general*. A great insight on how life REALLY is, Justice doesn't always win. :/

Meh a couple sci fi mini series would be good enough for babbo. It's just a bit too quirky and long to be made into a movie (or even a series of movies) if you ask babbo.
I would say Illuminati by Dan Brown, they made a movie about the Da Vinci code...and it was...ok...but i want to see illuminati as a movie too^^
Dan brown doesn't deserve to have a movie made out of any of his books. The fact that a poorly written attention whore psuedo researched book like The Davinci Code was ever made into a movie just says so many bad things about the world today. Sure Hollywood is just out to make a buck, but it's the idiots that bought into the book that even made it a profitable idea >.>
Babbo wants a Rainbow six movie. Imdb says there's supposed to be one in the making but there has been jack info about it. Same with the Wishsong of Shannara personally babbo would've preferred The First King of Shannara or the The Sword of Shannara but anything will be fine with babbo. The Knight of the word series would better than any of those though >.>

There are millions of cheap thrillers that are just as suspenseful. The Da Vinci code caught the public eye because it sounded like it was controversial. Babbo would be highly surprised if the guy could write a worthwhile book seeing as he was actually fine with writing the da vinci code. Additionally though babbo has yet to bother reading the illuminati (that's another title for angels and emons right?) most people babbo has spoken to say it actually follows a similar formula compared to the da vinci code >.>
Has anyone read the Abhorson Trilogy by Garth Nix? Sorry if this one was posted already but i think that this would do really well in the theaters! That's another one babbo wouldn't mind seeing. Garth Nix is one of those guilty little pleasures that babbo keeps on coming back to. The keys to kingdom series is a a pretty fun read too (if a bit formulaic in it's progression). Could prolly be made into a semi decent children's/teens television series.

Trust me, the Warcraft books are great. If you ever played warcraft (the strategy one, since that is where you understand the history better) it explains it very detailed aswell as the personality of the main characters. If you ever want to read it up, I'd recommend Lord of the Clans and The Last Guardian, I loved them hard.

Dunno, I've only read two so far and their history is great. One speaks about Thrall's whole life from baby to when he united the orcs (which isn't shown in wC3) and the other speaks of Khadgar, Medivh's apprentice (Medivh is the guy who reached there and say: hey orcs and humans, be friends -_-)

I'd say Eragon and Eldest but it has been done so already, even that Eragon sucked big time, the animation was week and they cut lots of parts. (Including my favorite character: Orik, he saved Eragon and they cut off that part). Hope they do it WAY better on Eldest.
About the Portuguese team, I'm more a making-fun-of-the-guys-from-Oporto rather than being on Benfica, but oh well xD.

I loved the book, but the movie really sucked.
The only thing I didn't liked on the book (more on Eldest than Eragon) is that Paolini went too detailled like describing the food, enviorment and such. That should and is good to be done but he exaggerated and made way too much making some pages hell boring, but other than that it is a great and so far my favorite book.
Ahahaha it was a joke revan, you will be great in the story, trust me.

Well, sort of... it's got a story of the quest for the truth about Vlad the Impaler (so yes, it's about Dracula, and by extention vampires).

grey, yup it shd be an interesting movie if the book is going to be made into one ^^ there's 'The Fly' though (lol, AFF), and both Fly I and II are my fav. but with more advance tech in movie making in hollywood, 'metamorphosis' shd be really awesome (i can barely imagine it now~).
oo, and talking about dracula, i wish they can make 'Queen of the Damned' based on the real plot in Anne Rice's novel. the movie with aaliyah in it is awesome (watched it more than 5 times), but it'd be great if they focus on lestat and louis gay relationship, and Makare and Mahareth's flashbacks.

While I'd love to see this made into a movie, I doubt they could do it justice without making it 4+ hours long to get the character development right, but my vote has to be Without Remorse by Tom Clancy. A most excellent character study that blurs the lines between a good adn bad. It's a story about loss, redemption, more loss, revenge, a rescue attempt, adn a faked death that leads to a new identity adn a new life... definitely should check it out.

What of House of Leaves (Mark Z. Danielewski)? I'd like someone to make that a film, but to also utilize the medium (film) just as well as Danielewski utilized the medium he wrote in (literature). "Cloud of Sparrows" and "Autumn Bridge" by Matsuoka Takashi, hands down. Two of the most beautiful books I've ever read. The characters are so rich and well done and have such deep character that you feel almost like you know them.
Also, the Sano Ichiro series of detective stories by Laura Joh Rowland. She takes the Tokugawa period, combines a little fact and fiction to spin an awesome tale about the adventures of Sano Ichiro, a samurai detective. In particular, I'd love to see the books "The Red Chrysanthemum" and "The Concubine's Tattoo" in film. Jet Li as Sano Ichiro would be awesome!

We, alone, stand between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. We are the Guardians.
The Soulless Keepers.
Our souls were cast out so that we would not forewarn the Daimons we pursue. By the time they see us coming, it's too late.
The Daimons and Apollites know us. They fear us. We are death to all those who prey upon the humans.
Neither Human, nor Apollite, we exist beyond the realm of the Living, beyond the realm of the Dead.
We are the Dark-Hunters.
And we are eternal.
I would like Zarek's story made first.

Genesis of the were-hunters
Our Gennisi (Beginning)
Come with me, modern traveler, back to a time that has been shrouded by mystery. Back to an ancient legend that has been mostly forgotten. Or at the very least...
Distorted.
We see remnants of it in our advanced world. What present-day mortal doesn’t know to fear the light of the full moon? To fear the howl of a wolf? The cry of a hawk? To look with caution into the darkest alleys. Not in fear of human predators, but in fear of something else.
Something dark. Dangerous. Something even deadlier than our human counterparts.
But mankind didn’t always hold this fear. Indeed, there was a time once, long ago, when humans were humans and animals were animals.
Until the day of the Allagi. They say the birth of the Were-Hunters, like most great evils, started out with only the best of intentions.
King Lycaon of Arcadia had no idea that when he wed, his precious, beloved queen wasn’t human. His wife held within her a dark secret. She was born to the cursed Apollite race and was destined to die in the heart of her youth... at age twenty-seven.
It wasn’t until her last birthday when Lycaon watched his beloved die horribly of old age that he realized the two sons she had born him would follow her to an early grave.
Grief-stricken, he had sought out his priests who all told him there was nothing he could do. Fate was fate.
But Lycaon refused to heed their wisdom. He was a sorcerer and he was determined that no one would steal his sons away from him. Not even the Fates themselves.
And so he set about using his magick to elongate the lives of his wife’s people. Capturing them, he magically spliced their essence with various animals who were known for their strength: Bears, panthers, leopards, hawks, lions, tigers, jackals, wolves and even dragons.
As he blended the animal with the psychically enhanced Apollites, two creatures were created. One that held a human heart. One that held the animal’s. Each one possessed traits of the other. No longer human, no longer animal, it was a bastard hybrid of the two species.
He spent years perfecting his new race, until at last he was sure he’d found the cure for his sons. Blending them with a dragon and a wolf, the strongest of the animals he had experimented with, he imbued them with more strength and magic than any of the others. In truth, he gave of his own power to them.
In the end, he received more than even he had bargained for. Not only did his sons have longer lives than his wife, they had longer lives than any known species.
With their magical abilities and animal strength, they now lived ten to twelve times longer than any human.
The Fates looked down and saw what the proud king had done. Angry at his interference into their domain, the Fates decreed that he must kill his sons and all like them.
Lycaon refused.
It was then the Fates sought out their own form of punishment for his hubris. His children and all like them were cursed anew.
“There will never be peace among your children,” Clotho, the Fate who spins the threads of life, proclaimed. “They will spend eternity hating and fighting until the day when the last of them breathes no more.”
And so it was. Whenever Lycaon blended an animal with a human, he, in fact, made two beings. One being who held an animal’s heart and one who held a human heart.
Those who walked as men and who held human hearts were termed Arcadians after their Lycaon’s people. Those who held animal hearts were termed Katagaria.
The Katagaria were born as animals and lived as animals, yet once they reached puberty, when the magical powers were unlocked by their hormones, they would be able to become human– at least externally. Their animal hearts would always govern their actions.
Likewise, the Arcadians were born as humans and lived as humans until their puberty brought with it their magic and their ability to shift into animal form.
Two sides of a single coin, the two species should have been at peace. Instead, the goddesses sent Discordia to plant mistrust between them. The Arcadians felt themselves superior to their animal cousins. After all, they were humans with human rationale while the Katagaria were only animals who could take human form.
The Katagaria learned quickly that the Arcadians weren’t honest about their intentions and would say one thing, then do another.
All throughout time, the two groups have preyed upon each other while each side took the moral high ground. The animals believe the Arcadians are the real threat while the Arcadians believe the Katagaria must be controlled or put down.
It is an endless war.
And as with all wars, there has never been a true victor. There have only been casualties who still suffer from the prejudice and unfounded hatred
DREAM HUNTERS
Sired by the gods of sleep, nightmares and dreams, we are the children of Mist (and at times human mothers).
Traditionally called the Oneroi, we are what protect the humans, Apollites, and immortals while they slumber. We are the Dream Warriors. The ones who battle the Skoti Daimons who drain the energy, dreams and life from sleepers, as well as provide highly erotic dreams to those who catch their fancy.
During the light of day, we walk among the humans as either humans or as unknown phantoms. And whenever human eyes happen upon us, they immediately glance away without registering our presence (unless we will it otherwise).
Most of us are devoid of emotions (except for pain). Those who have been cursed to no emotions can only feel while in a dream state with a human or immortal host. But therein lies the danger--some of us come to crave emotions like a drug.
Instead of being observers and protectors, they become dream instigators- controllers of the host. Should the evil Skotos continue to drain his victim, madness will descend and threaten us all. Hence the creation of a Dream-Hunter. Certain members of the Oneroi have been chosen to patrol the Skoti and Renegades, and ensure they do not prey upon those who sleep.
We are also helpers to the Dark-Hunters and Were-Hunters working as a go-between when they need help from the gods or healing.
Other breeds connected to them
Dark-Hunter: An ancient warrior who sold his/her soul to the Greek goddess Artemis for a single act of vengeance. Now they protect mankind from the Daimons who want to claim our souls.
Apollite: A member of a race cursed by the god Apollo. They cannot be out in daylight and they must live on the blood of each other. At age 27, they die a slow and painful death unless they decide to turn Daimon and prey on human souls.
Daimon: An Apollite who refuses to docilely die over a curse s/he had no part in creating. They feed on human souls and fight the Dark-Hunters.
Were-Hunter: Originally part of the Apollite race, their DNA was magically spliced with animals. Now they are shape-shifters who are embroiled in a war against each other.
Dream-Hunter: They are the gods of sleep who were cursed by the Greek gods to feel no emotion whatsoever. But they carry within them a dark secret that could completely shake the world in which they live. The Oneroi branch are often helpers to the Dark-Hunters.
Charonte: A race of demons who are extremely violent and amoral. They have a very interesting code of ethics.
Squire: A human who is employed by a Dark-Hunter or a human who has skills that make a Dark-Hunter's life a bit easier. They have an entire organization set up and are willing to die or kill to protect the secret of the DH world.
Oracle: One who speaks with the gods. They tend to be really crusty/cranky people.
Chthonian: A race of... well that would be the question. There are only a handful of them left and they are a CRANKY bunch.
Savitar: Yeah... in a class by himself ;) Ditto on Acheron.

Wow many of you had great ideas. However, I have a book which noone has read here. It is like an underground book, but those who read it are changed. The book is worth about 1 dollar(http://www.amazon.com/Juggler-John-Morressy/dp/0064471748) yet tons of Libraries do not have this book. I had to tear through a library near my hometown to find this book. It was such an intense book by John Morressy and a movie like this would Rival great movies and would be borderline Faust(idk if you know it) story line.
Review is here if u wanna see

I'd love to see being made into a movie Norwegian wood by Haruki Murakami and Gods of Aberdeen by Micah Nathan.
Norwegian wood is a book that made me feel strange... I don't know, for some reason I want to see it in cinema even though I think it can't be a good film xD
But, on the other hand, Gods of Aberdeen seems that was done to become a movie. If necessary, they can change some things or even eliminate, it doesn't mind because I'm sure the main story won't change... I know, is really strange, sorry I don't know how to explain it ^^U

American Gods by Neil Gaiman, it'd be incredible.
For those who are wondering, he wrote the book that was made into Stardust, and he also wrote a book called Coraline which is currently being made into a movie and should be out next year I think. His comic about the personification of Death called Death: The High Cost of Living is currently being made I think. Anyways American gods is great and needs to be made :)

Cleopatra Selene...I can't remember the author's name, but it was a great book and very historically accurate, but told from the point of view of Cleopatra's daughter. I'm such a :fangirl when it comes to anything Egyptian, to the point that I've actually studied hieroglyphics and can do a passable job of deciphering them. Yeah, that's right, I'm a dorkle!!
