you know, due to the recent turn of the manga, I would love to see Renji or Ishida pop up and interrupt the fight. Or rather, I'd like to Ishida interrupt the fight and take on Noitoria so that Hime can watch her Prince in action. Renji could see about Chad and leave Ichigo to find Rukia. :P

But anyway, I just realized something......


Inoue was scared to death of Ichigo's appearance when she saw him in his viazord form even though he acted the same. She was just so afraid of him, but you know what? She wasn't afraid of Ishida when he changed his attitude when he fought against the "wind sithe" dude in SS. In fact, she wondered on it and how he had changed even his bow. She didn't seem afraid of him. I would post up some comparision panels, but my computer is acting up again. -_- I can't catch a break.

So there's to that. She wasn't afraid of Ishida even though he became more powerful, had a bow change, and attitude change. (he grew serious) But she was scared of Ichigo who also changed his appearance and had a power boost, but still was the same old Ichigo.

Wonder what that has to say. See, there is hope yet that she'll come around and see her Knight in White armor. ^_^

OO...metaphor rocks! She is just like that with Ichigo. She acts like she depends on him when we all know she's a fierce independent woman. Everyone is always saying how independent Rukia is from Ichigo even though they can work as a team. With Inoue, she can't be independent from Ichigo or even think for herself. The differences are surprising.

With Ishida, she wanted to stay and fight. That shinigami dude had to knock her out to get her to cooperate. She could even think a little bit on her own. It was brilliant of her to think to dress themselves up as the enemy in SS and I was even more surprised at how well she could handle herself when speaking to the other shinigami to get themselves out of a jam and even kicked their butts. I really liked that Inoue. The independent Inoue who could think and kick butt. The Inoue who wanted to fight with Ishida and win. That's the Inoue who I saw was living by herself and took care of herself.

What I didn't like, and what made me start to really dislike her character, was her falling prey to the damsel in distress. When she's with Ichigo, well you know (insert Debbie's metaphore). She can't think up brilliant plans like she did that one time in SS and she gets scared, as if she can't fight. Ichigo has to tell her what to do. She's become so subservant to him. I don't think Ichigo or Inoue would like that and it would get old fast. She would be too busy trying to please him and only dig herself deeper into dispair.

With Ishida, she's herself through and through. Sure she can be a space case, and honestly, who isn't even Rukia has her moments, but we have all seen how independent and intelligent she can be. Ishida brings that out. I don't really want to dislike Inoue, but the way she's going is not good. She needs her Prince to come for her. She needs to see him in action.

I truly believe that Ishida is the only person who will be able to make Inoue whole again and bring her back from the brink of destruction. I just wish that Ishida would work a little harder at it. I know he's waiting for her to come to terms with reality and her crush on Ichigo, but it doesn't mean he's got to sit on his caboose. He should be wooing her. Dang it! He should be sending her flowers and some real food!

So, yeah, Ishida will be the one to save Inoue and Inoue will probably surprise us all when she finally turns around and realizes that she was meant to stand by Ishida's side and not Ichigo's.

Besides, they would fit perfectly together. Doctor Ishida would become famous if he had a nurse that could heal people that fast. :p

You know, I see that Ishida's nobleness and gentlemanliness could stall this relationship more than Orihime's ignoring him for Ichigo. To be fair to Ishida, he hasn't had much time to do much with Hime yet--he was powerless and training with his dad (for her, I believe--that awful look after he couldn't defend her from Shinji when he had been the first in line to do so in SS! He chose to accept his father's terms for her!). Now he's been busy fighting one Hollow, the S & M privaron with a whip and now Mayuri version Espada. All for her, of course. I really wonder what he's going to do for her next? If it's "step aside for Ichigo," I'll hammer the boy--but I'm betting he's going to be perceptive enough to notice that Ichigo isn't interested and that Hime's one fingernail breaking away from a nervous breakdown. He help give her back the confidence she needs--I just know it.

He better not step aside for Ichigo cause then I'll be standing there right beside you with my hands on my hip ready to some serious damage. But then again, he is a Quincy, and Quincy pride forbades him from losing to a Shinigami. :p

I could see Ishida not making any kind of move beyond friendship for a long, long time. More than any of the other characters, he seems to understand the difference between personal and important, and has the ability to set personal thing aside in favor of doing what needs to be done. (Well, he does now, anyway; he was such a dumb goober with that first contest versus Ichigo! I'm glad he's grown up a bit since then.)

On one hand, this could be good for letting Orihime grow before crowding her with the issue of new romance. On the other...sure is frustrating if we want to see it in canon! Though I'm certain he'll be a friend to her as best he can if he ever gets the chance to interact with her again. Me, I'm torn...I tend to think that it'd be best if Orihime got to build her strength and get with Ishida later, maybe toward college time. On the other hand...they'd be so damn cute, I do want to see it. -_- Oh well, that's what fic is for! Though I'm somewhat hopeless at writing Orihime. Curses.

"I'm here to fight you, Grimmjow! To fight you, and him, and him, yes, and then if I have time I will save all of them, and I suppose Inoue, too, if she behaves."

"Gosh, Inoue, I'm so happy you're not hurt. *grabs* Let's GTFO now, because I don't really trust in your walking abilities."


...then enter Ishida, and sure enough, there it is:

"Abarai, let's get going, why should we wait for that n00b? We're here to save Inoue!"

When I saw the spoiler I was like: uh, Ishida is here for Inoue (unlike Ichigo) and knows how to prioritize (wanting to save Chad and Rukia).
I thought it was really due. It's been a long time since Kubo let us slip in Ishida's thoughts (and they're always good!). XD

Those artz are so pretty -^^- And yes, for some reason...well...let me explain...

I keep getting the feeling that something bad is going to happen to Ichigo...and that it will be up to Ishida to get Orihime out of Las Noches...I just keep getting that vibe every time Ichigo confronts another enemy...Something like...either...

1) Ishida and Renji are able to defeat Szayel, and they go looking for Rukia and Chad, who they bring to Orihime. Ichigo is stuck fighting Noitora, whom Grimmjow saved Ichigo from because he 'owed' Ichigo from saving him. Then another Espada arrives, and Ichigo tells Ishida and Renji to get out as fast as possible. Since Rukia and Chad are still injured, they have no choice but to get them out or else they'll be killed...and they're forced to leave Ichigo to an unknown fate...while Ishida is pulling Orihime away with all his might...because he doesn't want her to get hurt...

2.) Ishida and Renji lose to Szayel, but are still alive. Then they are taken to a cell where an injured Rukia and Chad are. Ichigo manages to get away from Noitora with Orihime, and they break the others out. Then Noitora catches up and Ichigo stays to fight and that continues on with the same ending.

I just keep getting the feeling that something bad will happen to Ichigo and it will be up to Ishida to rescue Orihime...Those aren't exactly predictions, more like possible conditions that could occur.

I'm going to deviate from the current chapter discussion for a while but I've been reading some of the stuff said earlier about Ishida and Orihime.

Personally, I think they fit very well together. The only time we see Ishida not being sullen or serious is when he is around Orihime. Ishida is typically a grave charcter and doesn't know when to lighten up. But with Orihime, he can do that and in the SS arc it was mentioned that she was rubbing off on him. Orihime on the other hand can be her normaly nutty self with Ishida, unlike the nervous girl she is around with Ichigo.

Now on with the program:

My gut tells me that Renji and Ishida will be victorious and will arrive just in time to save Ichigo from exhaustion. They will save Orihime but I think Chad and Rukia will be left behind. At this point, I think leaving Chad and Rukia will build on the gravity of the upcoming war or will even pre-empt it.

The loss of two team mates will also knock some sense into Orihime and perhaps strengthen her character. Looking back her actions were not really admirable, she needs to grow beyond the Ichigo cheerleader. Orihime will need someone to lean on at this time and I hope that Ishida will be the man to do it. Personally, I think Ichigo will go in his angsting mode once Rukia and Chad are gone and will be of little help to Orihime.

But for something to happen between Ishida and Orihime, Ishida has to make the first move.

Jhaxe: Actually, that first "gut-feeling" you have would make some pretty good sense. I can see that happening. Everything is already set up for Nell and Inoue to go ahead and leave Ichigo to fight. I can also see Ichigo losing to big mouth, shiny teeth and getting takin hostage by Aizen. I mean, what better way to learn to control your hollow than by being surrounded by them? But then, I kinda don't want this to happen. Ichigo needs to go back and train with the vaizords....

Of course, the fan girl in me is loving Yahoosoda's feeling as well. Ohhhh...I would love to see an angsty Ichigo and then Orihime could live up to what Matsumoto said about her helping Ichigo and getting him out of his depression and then finding out that she's stronger in that area than she is in fighting. And then realization will hit her and she'll be all like, Kurosaki-kun loves Kuchiki-san...and then she'll turn from Ichigo to look behind her and see Ishida standing there smiling softly....:rolleyes: Okay, I can see it all in my head playing like a movie scene. Inoue finally realizing that Ishida has always been her man, always been behind her looking out for her. So sweet.

Who said Quincy arrows couldn't be Cupid's arrows?

And how did I end up going from one extreme to the next? :headscratch Wow, I really need to learn to organize my thoughts.

Um, well I could go on... but whether he said "we're here to save Inoue-san" or whether he said "I'm here to save Inoue-san" the point is that Ishida is not there to fight Espada. He's so different from the man he was in the SS arc who (claimed) to want to show up Kurosaki. Unlike Ichigo, Ishida seems resolved. From the moment he rode like the Silver Surfer on the board of reiatsu and snarked at Ichigo early in the arc, he's been the MAN. He's the hero of this arc.

Well, the spoilers for this week's chapter have caught my interest. My plan was to continue actually reading Bleach once Rukia returned to the plot (this is going to be around Chapter 300), but some IshiHime hints might be enough to draw me back.

As I said in Deb's Bleach Livejournal, that drawing is sweet. Nice job, artist I don't know.

Also, I totally called Ishida being able to interrupt Ichigo's fight with a fight of his own. Shounen knowledge for the win!

Anyway... Rukia just staying behind isn't likely >__> ORIHIME will stay behind, she has a Hougyoku to reject, remember? Chad might stay too, he needs to become Espada No. 5. xD

So no. My predictions as far as IshiHime is concerned is that Ishida will Save Inoue, and then she will explain to him that she has 'things to do' in Hueco Mundo, and Ishida will understand. Because that's what we need here, *someone* to wonder about what she wants, and there is no doubt in my mind Uryuu will be the one.

Yes, because this whole arc is a parallel to SS, and we need a good parallel to 181, too. :love

But really, I said this from the start, even before Rukia vs. Aaro. If Kubo is indeed (xD) planning on Orihime to reject/try-to-reject the Hyogyoku, then Ishida will be the Final Saviour (tm). Ichigo let Rukia stay in Soul Society because he acknowledged it was her home and that she was safe, so if she wanted to stay, it would have been selfish to ask her not to; but do you think he'd understand if Orihime told him 'Lol, no, Kurosaki-kun, I'm staying here. I have some seriuz biznizz to attend to. >__>' ?

On the other hand, Ishida knows her, they have spent days camping around SS, working as a team. He actually seems to understand what kind of a person she is, and has trust in her. So if anyone will understand and trust that she knows what she's doing, it's going to be him. ^__^

I just read your wonderful essay, debbie and kudos!

Since a part of the essay's topics deal with culture and the nature of unrequited love, it made me realize that Ishida and Orihime are perhaps the most realistic characters in Bleach as opposed to Ichigo and Rukia. While I am not sure what this actually means for IshiHime, I do believe that pairing off Orihime to a 'fantastical' character will not solve her issues. You have always said that Orihime has to solve these things for herself and I wholeheartedly agree with that.

Both Ishida and Orihime have issues but I think that they have a lot to gain in growing together rather than being paired with someone who is 'beyond' what they are going through.

Anyway, do you guys think there is some reason why Kubo made Uryuu and Tatsuki, two people who we saw spend time with Orihime in the manga (Rukia did too, later on) both be named 'Dragon' (or 'Rain dragon' in Uryuu's case)? There was also that cute little sketch in 'Princess and Dragon' chapters where Orihime was shown in a princess-like outfit, protecting a fallen dragon (depicting Tatsuki) with her body. Was so cute.

But that sketch combined with Debbie's essay made me wonder... Kubo made the 'princess' protect the 'dragon'. That's some fairytale twisting right there. :D

Really, if Kubo wanted to keep her static, he could've, dunno, put her in the damned negacion box or something. Seeing her getting dragged around Las Noches crying and shouting is simply insulting to me as an Orihime fan. >__>

And yes, the princess will protect the dragon. If he had wanted it to be a fairy tale or a myth, Kubo could've made his dragon-characters to signify Orochi and Orihime could've very well be Kushinada and get with the hero. But he named her Orihime, and made her sympathize with the rain; he made her the princess who protects dragons instead of whimpering behind the hero's back while he fights them.

So let's see what being around Ishida and being around Ichigo does to Hime's personality, shall we? <3

Meanwhile, Ishida's been frustrated by a crazy battle. Where do you think he'll go from here and what's likely to happen? Orihime's recapture? Ishida and Renji joining the fray with Ichigo et al?

Or will Renji insist they help Rukia and Chad first? (I can just hear Uryuu's logic--first, Inoue-san because she can heal them!)

hoo, yeah, puchiko2 I am COUNTING on Ishida seeing Orihime again. It's built into the storyline. ^__^ The storyline is just moving slow as molasses, though. It's been forever since we last saw them together but not that long in manga-time.

And importance difference, I see, Adam, in how Ichi and Ruki were separated in SS arc was that Ruki was aware that Ichigo was there for here as soon as Renji told her. Orihime, to the best of our knowledge doesn't know boo about Ishida's defying his father, stealing weapons, and she hasn't had an eye-opening moment about his recovering his powers (for her sake, I still believe). She knows Ishida's there because Ichigo included him in his list of people he was going to bring back safely (I somehow think that Ishida wouldn't appreciate Kurosaki's offer as necessary!) I still think Orihime has to have an "ah HA!" MOMENT of realizing how much Ishida cares for her. Where she goes from there, of course, is up to Kubo but she can't stay eternally clueless of that fact anymore than 1) she can stay eternally emo and self-doubting 2) we will never see tsubaki again 3) she will or will not be accepted by Ichigo romantically.

Plots require resolution.

It'll all happen. It's got a couple years to go in the manga at least---and yes, there HAS to be an IshiHime HM reunion of some sort.

Reflecting though, rereading the data books and seeing the INEVITABLE IchiRuki-ness that Kubo has set up, I know that I want Orihime to realize what Uryuu is going through for her. It's a rough week for Ishida fans who are manga-readers.

They didn't show those two amazing panels, they only showed one close up before Urahara told him about Inoue. They showed only how he looked on Kisuke guessing that something have happened. And then they put down the part when Urahara told him and started from when Uryuu-kun reasked Urahara and... NO CLOSE TO HIS EYES MOMENTS!

I. Hate. Animators. Very. Very. Much.

Yeah, they showed determined look, at least. But it didn't look like it must have because of the missing previous two.

They left out such a good piece for the clip-making...

You know what's funny? In the beginning of the anime, I was pissed because they left out so many cute Orihime scenes (and most of those had to do with her crushing on Ichigo) but the anime was pretty faithful so I liked it. I put up with the filler arc because it had an actual plot and so much Ishida.... the second filler I missed... now this....

Waaaaah. The music has just been getting worse and worse. I swear I crack up laughing everytime that Spanish guitar comes on for an Arrancar and the animation of Ulquiorra has made me cry. There was no amount of Handsome!Ryuuken or SilverSurfer!Uryuu that could make up for the editing of Uryuu's scene, though.

I think I'm done with the anime.

You guys, the anime is now just something to point-and-laugh at, no big deal. XD XD Okay so I liked the UlquiOri Abduction scene, but that's as far as it went for me. The Spanish guitar music is lolage, pure and simple; the animation sucks; throughout the filler miniarc, Ulquiorra looked like a piggie with complexion troubles; and now they take what little IshiHime bits-and-pieces we had in the last two arcs away from us. Why? It wouldn't take much time. They could've cut on the 'Brother-want-no-diner' scene... we've had enough of the Kurosaki Family Love for a few centuries.

But Ryuuken is HOT.

And for what the animators ship recently - I'm torn between GrimmIchi, IchiIshi, UlquiOri, RukiHime, and Tatsuki x Keigo. :rotflmao IshiHime is way too... normal... of a pairing to find its way on that list, I'm afraid.

Anyway... about what really matters, the manga; I think the future developments largely depend on where Kubo goes with Ishida's current situation. I'm hoping that he finishes the fight the way it's been all this time (aka, pure, pure crack) and has Ishida fix the doll with his mad sewing skills as Debbie suggested somewhere; but what comes afterwards? Really, this is the only thing that has me biting my nails about Bleach now.

Ishida will be FINE. FINE. Seriously, this is one of Kubo's big old scares. Remember when Ishida was paralyzed on the ground with Mayuri having a stabby-fest with him? He got up from that! His spiritron manipulation should be able to tie up the pieces of his stomach, at least temporarily, until Renji does a kidou spell to heal him? Whatever--ISHIDA'S OKAY. He's just hitting the stride of what's going to be his moment. All our sympathies are with him. I'm sure Dondo and Pesh will help him too!

I'm not sure why some people (by some people, I just mean Debbie) are getting so excited by a caption underneath a fanart. Like, what would Ishida do after he saves Orihime five times ('cuz we know he would save her five times)? "Sorry, Orihime, you're just more work than it's worth so I'm not going to save you anymore. Go to another castle; maybe Mario will rescue you." Ishida is better than that, better than five (lifetimes), and I think he could come up with a better line when he re-enacts the scene in that fanart in the real deal.

With all the attention Uryuu's getting on the sidelines, I feel like his time to really shine will be somewhere around the corner (which means like, 50 chapters later in Kubo time i'm sure XD). Like Debbie mentioned before, I get this gut feeling (no pun intended) that Uryuu's wounds are meant to scare. Ishida, up until this point, really did not seem to hold any major cuts or bruises (maybe some grit, but you have to give him credit to wiping down previous arrancar previous to this battle.) so I think he's done pretty darn well for all the fighting he's done!

All the suffering he's doing for Orihime! I feel like what Kubo has shown of Uryuu is helping to strengthen the arc (in terms of how much Uryuu has done for Orihime so far).

I feel like that moment won't be too far away... maybe after his battle (or at least I will hope so!)

awwww, just the fact that you're participating is GREAT, WONDERFUL, APPRECIATED! And I bet you're a better writer than you think you are. I haven't known a good writer yet who would confess to being "very good" but I HAVE known terrible writers who think they're hot stuff. :D

And really, I love chapter 00. I'm glad Syn put it up because I hadn't looked at it in a while and Ishida's handsome eyeball never fails to impress me. The tidbits we were given of the other characters were beautiful. Renji's character has come the farthest in my estimation-he's UNLIKABLE (at least to me) no matter how "hawt" he is and then as the plot develops we see how much he cares for Rukia. This chapter puts another little extra gloss on his character.

And I think its funny how in this chapter Ishida says nothing but that one eyeball says "I know what's going on." If he was supposed to be showing interest in Kurosaki, the panel that features Orihime in the foreground would have showed Kurosaki instead. Kubo's too careful about how he composes panels. And all the talking in the previous panels was done by Orihime. I see Ishida as seeing what we (the audience) sees and what Kurosaki doesn't--that Orihime has a crush on him.

The fact that Kubo put that in this prequel chapters shows that the Ishida--> notices-->all things Orihime dynamic will continue to be part of the storyline.

Ahh! I am SO joining this FC! Uryuu and Orihime are adorable together.
She's so whimsical, and he's straight-laced, and it's fun seeing them together. :yay

Their interactions and thoughts of each other during the SS arc were priceless, and it's a shame that they haven't interacted much with each other since then. :o

I think Ishida fits Orihime's expectation of "Prince Charming" so much better than Ichigo ever will (IMO he's a bit damaged and has got a few issues that she couldn't even begin to comprehend, let alone help him with), and that he understands her very well. Plus it's cute watching him get dopey around her. :p And they're both in the sewing club!

For fic recommendations, I suggest reading/adding to the C2 list Essence (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3206172/1/Essence) by Alaena Night. The characterization is very good, there are a lot of plots addressed from the manga, and the relationships are developed at a believable pace.

Oh yea, and I think that the new color spread with the pairs in their matching outfits is very nice. :D

Actually,it's not that I didn't have faith anymore,it's just that I ended up forgetting about the pairing (I had so much passion for it during SS arc and I was really angry that a pairing with such potential had been cast away by kubo...).
But hey!ishihime was my first OTP in bleach and I'll be always fond of it :) (even if I support/ed other pairings like ulquihime or ichihime.

GOSH, KUBO's KEPT ISHI AND HIM APART FOR SO LONG. Yeah, during the worst of that IshiHime drought (for a long while Ishida himself was MIA) I sustained myself writing fanfiction. I've read everything that there is about the pair over a zillion times so I can't wait for more canon interaction (MORE SHIPPY SPREADS WOULD BE NICE! :D) to encourage IshiHime. I know! I found it reassurring--much like the "Happy People" song during the darkest of the SS arc in the anime. I like that Kubo threw such a warm hopeful image out there. The fact that IN JAPANESE (right Jenni?) the text Kubo used for "you" is familiar and used for boys speaking romantically towards girls just adds to the intentional shippiness of it. It's not a friendship spread--or else Chad would be there. It's not an eye candy AU spread--or else Renji or Hitsugaya would be there showing off their stuff. It's a shippy spread, and there are MORE IchiRuki and IshiHime signs there than IchiIshi, IchiOri, or IshiRuki! :D

haha,I understand your feelings:glomp.When there is a lack of interaction I try to read fanfiction and to draw fanarts to maintain my love for the pairing (but it's not always that easy:D)
I believe the popularity of ishihime has increased thanks to the spread and I'm sure it'll increase even more in the future (or so,I hope but it has always been popular so I'm not worried too much,it stayed in the top 10 even after 100 chap with no ishihime ;))

The fact that IN JAPANESE (right Jenni?) the text Kubo used for "you" is familiar and used for boys speaking romantically towards girls just adds to the intentional shippiness of it. It's not a friendship spread--or else Chad would be there. It's not an eye candy AU spread--or else Renji or Hitsugaya would be there showing off their stuff. It's a shippy spread, and there are MORE IchiRuki and IshiHime signs there than IchiIshi, IchiOri, or IshiRuki!
yes it's so obviously an ichiruki and ishihime spread. I mean could you imagine ishida using such a familiar noun with rukia? And with such a sweet face? lol
