For me, I still have to finish..

Currently I'm reading "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyer. It's an interesting read, if you liked the Anita Blake style books by Laurell K Hamilton. But I think this book is better than the AB series (except for Obsidian Butterfly) and will start the next book, "New Moon", after I finish this one. :)
Edit: Oh yes, also almost finished re-reading "Over Sea, Under Stone" by Susan Cooper. It's book 1 of the 'Dark is Rising' series. Can't wait for the movie! ^^

"Shogun" by James Clavell
I'm hoping to pick my way through the books that come after it like King Rat, Whirlwind, etc. So far, the characters are very well written and I love how a character you feel you can come to know and love can be snatched away and die so quickly and suddenly. But then again, that flows with the theme of the book that life is fleeting. A fantastic read so far!

Demon Child everytime more of it get translated ^^'
For a normal book it might actually be my all time favorit, it's just Wow.
As said by his teacher his the eye of the huricane(he is kind & helpsome but everything around him is a mess)
Red Dragon, by Thomas Harris. I'd probably be finished it by now if it had more Hannibal Lecter in it or if I hadn't seen the movie.
Gardens of the Moon, by Steven Erikson. It's a good book, but it's harder to finish the second time around.
And I plan on buying Night of Knives by Ian Cameron Esslemont soon, so I figured I would include it here as I should be reading it not long from now.

Since it took two years for the new book to come out, I am rereading the Symphony of the Ages series by Elizabeth Haydon so I can read the new book, Assassin King and remember what they are talking about, lol. I am currently on the second book, Prophecy.
I might also reread Wicked soon too because it is such an amazing story and I love Elphaba so much ^^ Plus, I have been listening to the musical soundtrack all week.
And I am with NightMare, the Drizzt books are good, I have not read them all, but so far it is a great series...and I have a weakness for the descriptions of Drizzt's purple Drow eyes ^^

Agh! That is my favorite romance! Even though it is not the most ideal romantic storyline, ever. All the main characters are pretty childish, huh? It is interesting how, in order for Bronte to give her characters unbridled passion (emotional passion, I mean strong unchecked emotions), they end up being perceived as irrational and immature. Alas, they are bickering little children throwing fits until the very end. That, being the whole point of the practically incestuous tale.
The Kate Bush song is much more tame.
I am rereading The Black Cauldron and all those books! Because sometimes, oracular pigs are awesome.

LOL Revan, then why don't you stop it?
I was going to start reading The Da Vinci Code (Dunno if it's written like this in english) this holidays but on holidays I don't have much time to do something that isn't without friends :E. And at school time I can't conciliate having one more thing, as I already have to conciliate a lot. Ohh my life sucks -_-. But I'll read it as soon as I can.

I'm currently reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I just finished reading Eclipse, the third book. It's an 'okay' story. I'm over the addiction. I realized it's another sloppy romance story, if it weren't for Edward being a vampire and being so drop-dead gorgeous! :D
I hate Isabella Swan. I hate female weakling 'save-me! save-me!' protagonists.
Why? Because I'm used to Sidney Sheldon's tough and smart gals. I've read Tell me Your Dreams, the Sands of Time, Best Laid Plans, the Stars Shine Down, Morning, Noon and Night, If Tomorrow Comes, The Doomsday Conspiracy, The Other Side of Midnight, Rage of Angels, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Memories of Midnight, Windmill of the Gods, and Bloodline. Man, he's a genius! Shame he's dead. Her protagonists are always women (with attitude). I loved all his books and I'm only missing a few to finish off the collection.
I also love Robert Ludlum, especially the Bourne trilogy and The Hades Factor.
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
JK's Harry Potter.
Judith McNaught's Romance eaters! :)
Twilight looks like a piece of shit next to these books. But I still appreciated the series and collected it. I'm an open-minded reader.

Hehe are we allowed to rate the last book we read? Well here goes anyways.
Next by Micheal Crichton. 9.5/10
Summary: Is a loved one missing some body parts? Are blondes becoming extinct? Is everyone at your dinner table of the same species? Humans and chimpanzees differ in only 400 genes; is that why a chimp fetus resembles a human being? And should that worry us? There's a new genetic cure for drug addiction--is it worse than the disease?
As you can see the book focuses primarily on the issue of genetics, but does have its fair share of corrupt greed and legal interventions. Its brings up the issue of genetics and just how important they are in our rapidly changing world. You learn about the issues of cloning and exploitation of the human genome. But it isn't something as boring as reading a textbook. The book is set at a movie like pace, as you switch from different scenes and view points that constantly has you turning the page to find out what happens next. But as you read and enjoy the thrill of suspense and action, there are many major questions brought up along the way:
- Do you own your own genes?
- If you don't should the owner be allowed to harvest genes from you anytime they want?
- Should you, as the originator of a gene with rare qualities be allowed to share in any profit raised from the use of your genes?
All these questions just make you think and get your brain working as you continue to read to find out what happens in the plot, but also realize that these issues exist in our time. The gap between reality/fantasy is as close as you can put them. It truly lives up to Crichton's style of writing intellectual techno-thrillers.
What I also found interesting was the extensive bibliography at the end of the book that proved his merit of the real life facts included in a work of fiction. The author's note at the end was really compelling, and after finishing the novel I found myself agreeing with his statements.
1) Stop patenting genes.
2) Establish clear guidelines for the use of human tissues.
3) Pass laws to ensure that data about gene testing is made public.
4) Avoid bans on research.
5) Rescind the Bayh-Dole Act.
Overall a great novel and I enjoyed it. Despite not being as far fetched as Jurassic Park with creating dinosaurs from genetic material found in amber, I did find myself not as thrilled reading the book as I did with Jurassic Park. It was an intelligent read yes, but not as exciting as it could have been.
