View Full Version : recommend me an anime
i feel like watching a completed series so...if anyone out there has good animes for me, recommend away and thanks ;)
Right now i want to watch a mecha or scifi series. Shows could be mixed or more than one genre as well
some mecha's i've watched: Gundam Wing, Fullmetal Panic, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, and Gunparade March.
Some scifi i've watched: Serial Experiments Lain, Tactical Roar, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Saikano and Trigun.
i woulda posted in the other thread but it's sort of 'dead' and only about romance/high school type animes ;/

Scifi:
Armitage (very Ghost in the shell-like)
Chobits (fun slice of life story)
DearS (copy, paste Chobits),
Both:
Kiddy Grade (mediocre. at best, but ok.)
Mai HiME (one of my personal favorites)
Idolmaster (ongoing, but good)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (good, but a little out there)
Rahxephon (great show, at least I thought so)
Gurren Lagann (number one recommendation for mech/scifi, ongoing)
Eureka Seven (great sereis)
Jinki Extend (fun, but confusing, short)
Science-Fiction is rarely ever that on it's own. It's almsot always mixed with slice of life, action, mecha, whatever. Mecha will almost always have elements of Scifi.

I would recommend
DUAL! (great giant robot action and great characters)
Or the uncut version of Yu Yu Hakusho (If it isnt uncut, its just bad...)
I know for a fact you can watch every episode uncut online....
I'd also recommend Betterman or Soultaker
Thanks Velius ;) Gonna give Jinki Extend and Armitage a try. The rest I've already seen at some point or am currently watching
@Shadoblak: gonna check out Betterman. Already seen the others you recommended. Thanks for the input ;)

Yeah i only Mentioned Yu Yu Hakusho because most people had only seen the edited version and never saw the end :p
I too shall recomend YYH, if only because of it's awesomeness.
For what you're looking for I recomend Ghost ion the Shell. There's this OVA called Dead Leaves, it's hilarious and great but it might make you go crazy (read it's review on ANN). The scifi/mecha genres are the least I know about, so I'm not of much help.
Ghost in the shell :o I never got around to watching the entire series, although i've loved each episode i've seen on adult swim.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Noein. I heard about it on another forum, it's a very good scifi anime. It has quantum physics! xD

I would recommend the first two series of Tenchi for the scifi and outrageous humor.
Geneshaft is another series that is scifi and Mecha that has an intersting concept on dealing with aggression that has to do with the male to female ratio in the show.
Godannar and Gun-Sword are two other animes that deal with both scifi and mecha, and since Betterman was already recommended you can recognize some of the character designs are familiar in the three shows.
Elemental Gelade deals with just the scifi but has a an interesting story to it.
I recommend Code Geass. I just finished and wow, it was amazing.
