Ever since I heard that the Claymore manga is apparently supposed to go for about twenty-five volumes, I didn't think the animators would wait about five or six years for the manga to finish and that they would make up an ending.

Actually, Byakuya, it's not *that* bad. I was afraid to watch it too, but curiosity made me do it. :) The Raki part is getting sort of lame and doesn't make much sense (up to last week it was still okay) but the fighting bits still make up for it.

Now I'm just wondering how they're going to wrap the whole thing up in just four more episodes. My guess is they'll leave a lot of loose ends (Riful, the organization, et cetera.) What do you guys think?

As much as I'd love to see grown up Raki in some sort of Claymore-style armor, in my opinion that's going to happen, because (under spoiler tag, just in case)

a) he's with Isley, and hence against the organization, though I still have to see how manga-Raki reacted to knowing that both Priscilla and Isley are awakened beings that eat humans like him for breakfast;

b) if the organization isn't going to turn him into a Claymore, I doubt Isley will, that is, if he and Priscilla truly care about the boy. They wouldn't want him to go through the same thing they did, I think;

c) the only reason so far Raki was important as a character is that he represents the humanity that Claymores and awakened beings have lost. If he becomes a Claymore, there will be no-one to fulfill that role (the guys at the organization obviously don't count.)

Besides, if he were to become a Claymore, being a guy, he would become a awakened being in no time. :p

On a different note, thank you for the Priscilla cover, Spacecat! I'm hoping the extra scene will be about how she rose to number #2 or about whatever's happened to Isley, Raki and her in the meantime.

I can tell you whats happening in the Isley vs. Priscilla fight.

This is what Annie translated from the spoiler about the fight.

anyway, he attacked her and when he impaled her
she cried 'it's hurt, why are you doing this to me? daddy, mommy...help me....'
that surprised isley and he said 'that...broken part (?) on her horn, is it...'
but at that moment she attacked him back and his upper part was gone, more so, she healed herself
then she changed to a girl again and cried 'daddy, mommy, brother, sister...i want to see you...' and this confused Isley a lot
and he bowed in front of her 'as a proof for my defeat, i swear to be loyal to you'
'what you wish for, I shall give it to you'
she said: can you help me find daddy and mommy?

it was a great epi imo: Raki sees Claire again, Claire fights against Rigardo, her legs awaken, Raki fears for Claire, because he doesn´t want that she also awakens, Priscilla senses Teresa´s spirit pressure in Claire, Rigardo says that he once fought against Isley, but then had only boring fights (=> hello? The fight against Priscilla, when he was defeated immediately xD), Rigardo is killed by Claire without Claire letting her arms awaken (IIRK her arms also awakend in the manga?) the preview for the next episode shows Galatea! ^_^

I believe a lot of it has to do with his gender. He has a role (the mostly helpless sidekick) that's typically fulfilled by girls, and I think many guys resent males being portrayed as Raki is. Not to mention characters in his role are often unpopular in general, too. Then, throw in a lack of good looks (being male and attractive is always certain to win over female fans, no matter how much of a douche a guy is), and you've got an unpopular character.

I've got nothing against him, though.

Dunno about you, but to me it somehow seems like the series just flew by me, all its awesomeness included. :( I just started warming up to characters and it's already ending! Not fair!

Well, that might be because I watched all of it in the course of one week, but I did the same thing with, say, FMA, and nonetheless it seemed more whole to me. Maybe I should read the manga for the superior flow? IDK, I thought it would go on for a long time. Maybe reading bigass shounen series is getting me spoiled. >__>

Nonetheless, I'd like to join. Claymore enchanted me with the first episode, and while it's not really innovative (at least IMO) it's still one of the best anime series I've watched this far. I'll probably start the manga soon... :D Teresa is just plain old awesome, and I also sort of like Galatea and Miria. Never cared much for Jeane, though, but I guess her hairstyle and her clingyness threw me off (it was sort of cute when Clare and Raki did it, but Jeane is a grown woman, albeit a manly one...).

Miata doesn't have bangs, more like hair covering all her face :p I was kind of expecting a Helen/Deneve chapter, but it should be interesting to see Claire getting acquainted with the organization and being poor little number 47. Maybe there will be more of an insight into the nature of her powers, with her being only 1/4 yoma and all that.

Agatha claims the end.

When the guardians of Rabona was pierced, Clarice yells "Run away, quick."
Then Miata changes her target to Agatha. Agatha says, "So you are trying to slash me now. It wasn't that I wasn't reflecting on your eyes, huh"

When Miata pulls the tentacles, Agatha says "Stop kidding me, child..." (and something else, but I don't understand)
Then Galatea gets pinned to the wall. Clarice mumbles in fear, "Why...Miata...Galatea too...both were defeated, only me left...how could I possibly slash the former No.2..."
Agatha threats her to kill her, so Clarice starts to ran.
Clarice"I don't want to die, someone help--"
Agatha"There's no way you could run away."

Then Miata is crying "Mama, don't go."
Clarice still turns her back, apologising to Miata.
On next page, some comment about Clarice by Agatha seems to anger Miata.

After Clarice has rescued Miata by surprise attacking Agatha, she cries out "whaaaa."
Clarice"Why...why do I have to meet such a situation? So dark, so hopeless, and yet impossible to run away...I still don't want to die..."
Miata"Mama..."
Clarice"To me, you're scary, too! How come!? You're so little and you're so much stronger than me!! Battling against such a powerful awakened being! If you two had cooperated from the start, you might not have gotten injured this much!!"(*I am not sure about this part...)
Miata"Sorry...I'm sorry...mama..."

Agatha intends to kill everyone, so galatea alarms Clarice to run away.
Then suddenly parts of Agatha was cut. Galatea is surprised,"What? Part of Agatha's body has gone away!? What's happening?"
Agatha asks something similar to "Who are you?"
The reply was "There's no need to tell to somebody who is going to be killed."

Oh, I see. I only recently got into the series, but I remember reading that there was going to be a 2 month break before the next chapter, but I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the dates. Nice. That means the next chapter will be out a month sooner than I expected. :)

Off-topic for a sec, but something I noticed that seems odd. None of the Claymores call themselves that... except for Galatea. She uses the term to refer to herself and others without adding "so-called" or anything like other Claymores do.

Probably a meaningless detail, but it's interesting. Maybe it's already been discussed here, haven't read all the pages or anything.
