The drama is based on the popular manga of the same name by Nakajo Hisaya, which has already been dramatized in Taiwan. Horikita plays the protagonist Ashiya Mizuki, a Japanese girl in the U.S. who one day sees the young athlete Sano Izumi (Oguri) compete in the high jump on television. She begins to idolize him, and decides to move to Japan to attend the same school as him. @Rain: The live action is pretty good. I prefer the Japanese one over the Taiwanese due to the fact that it's hard for me to get used to listening to Mandarin, but they're both good.

The japanese series is just starting out, though.

I've read the manga too, and the jdrama is pretty different than the manga storyline.

EDIT: It said that the people who played Sano and Nakatsu had to kiss 12 times during the course of the series. :rofl

Yeah I like Horikita Maki I don’t like the Taiwanese actress she isn’t cute enough also the production budget for the Taiwanese one is low and it shows clearly. In addition, I like the feel of this show it very entertaining and leaves you wanting for more

Ashiya is a strong well-rounded character my respect grew for her after the marathon. She tolerated all that pain just for a smile Ashiya Chwaaan :love

d that the people who played Sano and Nakatsu had to kiss 12 times during the course of the series. :rofl

I have a freind who well lurves Nakatsu I hope Nakatsu doesnt turn into Hikaru of this show :yell

I'm a huge fan of the manga (it's my favorite shoujo series, to be honest), and so when I saw the jdrama go up I had to pick up the first episode.

And I put it down immediately after. The bullying aspect that they added really turned me off to it. /sigh

That’s just there in the initial scenes after that Sano makes an appearance and Sano/Nakatsu rivalry chiding takes over . The bullying only happens at the start there is no repetition after that .

It does take long before Ashiya to become one of the guys

Hmmm, maybe I'll go pick it up again then. I really want to like it, so maybe another episode will be enough to get me interested again.

Episode 4 is out and Ep 5 is up on Crunchy Roll . I hope the ending of this Lv.A differs from the manga

Neh, what bullying aspect? I don't remember-- maybe that was just in the first episode. I really like the series though-- because Nakatsu can't get any more funnier. And then he gets those heart breaking faces... :cry

Hana-kimi is one of the jdrama I anticipated.
It's nice to see Maki, Tohma (oh my!) and Shun again. (I last saw Shun in and Tohma in HYD and Maki in Kurosagi).

Well, even if some might say that the Taiwan version is better, I still prefer this Japanese version (I'm biased, yeah). I just don't like Taiwanese actors/actress (no offense). And Shun is guy-kissy :D Tohma is totally funny, and the whole series is more of a comedy than a romance. (well, I prefer a love comedy rather than those mushy, sappy series that gets me sleepy).

So far, the episodes are well presented, and I just can't get enough of the series. :D
