I honestly can't tell if Vega is a he or a she. Sometimes s/he looks like a she, and sometimes s/he looks like a he.

S/He reminds me of Apache without heavy eye-liner or whatever it is :XD

... he seemed to be similar to Lilinette. I just thought then he was Lilinette's brother. I still can see some similarities between them, but looks like Sabertooth has change a bit since that time.

Or he will be a smilodon which would also fit with the teeth but at same time he will probably look like a bear mixed with a mountain lion in a sense.

Those two species of the toothed tiger are only ones he can really be the others don't have teeth of that length. I'm only saying this because seems kubo is going for a certain type of the spices for the fraccion lately.

I find it funny how Barragan's largest and smallest Fraccion are the only one of Barragan's boy's fighting a captain. Well since soifon Had already went shikai and it proved rather useless against the speed and power right now of Vega. This is also great time to show off her bankai since Vega is releasing.

But something also tells me vega gave away the way to beat him with telling soifon what to do if she was he. That line just really stuck out.

Some peeps say Matsumoto is no match for Halibel's Fracciónes, and as we can see Ggio is fighting a captain (not a very strong captain, but captain), so it isn't too hard for me imagine Ggio getting into a tight corner, so can any of you imagine Sun-Sun (or her comrades) helping Ggio against Soi Fong?

I know we have not seen any Fracción helping her/his comrades, but who knows, anything could happen in Bleach,ne?:p

Same here. The whole "SS parallel" theme has been beaten to death with the Arrancar--it comes off as unoriginal to me. Plus, it means that they can't escape SS's shadow no matter how strong they are.

I think it's a result of A) Kubo having a limited range of personality traits to pull from and B) the fanbase taking over the series. That'd explain why there were only Top 25 poll rankers at the pillars, while half the Vice Captains still haven't fought yet. :/

I've never seen a raw chapter in which he appears, but I hear his androgyny was helped in part by the fact that he refers to himself with "Watashi"- a trait more common with girls in Bleach (as the guys prefer the more rugged "Ore" or "Boku") but actually just the formal and proper way of referring to one's self.

Personally, he's always looked male to me. He has a very masculine frame, whereas even flat-chested girls like Soi and Rukia have feminine curves.

Yeah, I agree; Ggio is male. Kubo has created androgynous characters before - see: Luppi (<3) and Rin (from 12th Division). I wouldn't be surprised when Kubo does an Arrancar guidebook (hopefully!) and does a statement - "Ggio is male" (lol, like he did with Rin in the Shinigami guide book).

My Prediction for this week:

Soifon tells Oomaeda to step back, and enters Shunko.

Ggio is knocked around a bit, but still manages to avoid a double-hit. He’s using an elaborate cross between ballet and capoeira—dancing gracefully around Soifon’s attacks, while using the unique reiatsu of the blades on his arms to distort the Shunko’s path. Taking advantage of Soi’s inexperience (and overconfidence) with the technique, Ggio finds an opening, and uses one of the blades to break Soi's arm when she blocks. The arm wielding Suzumebachi.

Oomaeda frantically runs after them, aiming to protect Soi. Ggio shoots off one of the blades like a boomerang; Oomaeda barely dodges, but Ggio Sonido’s behind him and smashes the side of his head with it, knocking him unconscious.

A pissed Soifon lunges at Ggio—then sees Elephant Man leap towards Oomaeda’s falling body, ready to gore him on his remaining tusk. Just as Soifon realizes she won’t make it in time, SASAKIBE MOTHERFUCKING CHOUJIROU Shunpo’s in and slices off Mamut’s tusk with Gonryoumaru. He then slits Mamut’s throat before he has time to cry out in pain.

He manages to catch Oomaeda in time, and lowers him gently onto one of the rooftops. It’s then that Sasakibe realizes Oomaeda’s neck is broken. (End)

Hmm.. Nice prediction! I love how it's taking 2 Vice Captains and a captain to beat these two fraccion. If they're giving them this much trouble, I can't imagine the Espada fights.

My, my, it sure got quiet here.

Alright guys, as you all know it looks like we'll be seeing the last of Ggio this week - though we don't know if he's killed or KO'd like his fellow fraccion, Snufflelafacar. Regardless of which happens, will love for Ggio live on in you? And how?

I, personally, am already planning at least two fics for him - one being a chronicle of his life from his time as a human, to his death and Hollow transformation, becoming an Arrancar, up to his battle with Soifon. Afterwards, another fic will focus on him and whichever Arrancar I choose to survive, and life after this battle between SS and Aizen. I'll have to do some research, but I plan on turning Ggio into a shinigami. I already have his name and zanpakuto written in kanji. His personality is just wonderful and a great addition to the kiddies of SS (Toushiro, Yachiru, and an original character whom my username stems from).

Besides that, Ggio gives me... lots of naughty ideas. :flirt

What about you all? D: I'd hate to see his fans cease to exist just because he's not arond anymore. (Grimmjow still has a strong following and he's been in a giant puddle of blood for how long now?)

Well I like Ggio for all the reasons you stated: appearence, release, attitude. :fangirl I also find him rather unique amongst Barrgan's fraccion, seeing as out of the six, he is apparently the youngest looking, plus he was stood right beside Barragan along with Pō when the arrancar first entered Karakura Town, leading me to believe he might be one of his most important fraccion, supported by him and Pō being the only two of the six to fight a captain. :)

And you think Cuuhlhourne's interesting? :glomp Me too. He has the best release ever after Ggio's. :D But what exactly is it you find interesting? For me it's definately the prospect of an arrancar drssing in drag. :cool:

By historical fact I'm wanting to confirm whether or not there could have been Chinese immigrants in Japan just prior to WWII (doubtful considering Japan invaded China) due to the opium trade. I... I know, sounds weird, but I swear it's relevant. Sort of.

I'm going on a few things - for one, Ggio's name. -ggio is commonly added onto the end of Italian names, the 'o' denoting a male, but by itself it holds no meaning (like the Japanese -maru). Otherwise, Ggio > Gio > Giovanni > John, which is a name I hate. SO. Going by the spelling in katakana, for Jio written in kanji I chose the ones in my sig, which mean 'child' and 'king'; symbolising his youth and how tigers are the Eastern 'kings of the jungle', his future promise as a great or mighty person.

Vega - and this name surprised me - is linked to the star that the legend of Qi Xi, better known as Tanabata. (Now, all of the Tanabata symbolsim revolves around Orihime and maybe Ichigo, so the fact that Kubo chose 'vega' as Ggio's surname made me think that Ggio is not going to be put up with the likes of the other fodder Arrancar. He stands out, just like the Coolhorn, which may be why they got their own chapter pages.) Ggio's role as the weaver will be symbolised with opium if I get my facts straight.

Also, the reason why I chose this particular time in history for a backstory is because it just so happens to fit right in with what I had planned for with my OC, Kinuaki, whom I created about two years ago and whose story is inspired by Memoirs of a Geisha, Lone Wolf and Cub and general crack. xD

...Eh, yeah, Ggio's appearance stirred up a lot of ideas in me, there's a quite a bit more where that comes from, bit I'll save that for the story. 8)


Oh, and I love the Coolhorn because after weeks of every chapter of Bleach being pretty "meh" with only a few cool moments (the surprise and Division 9 antics of the Pendulum arc, Kira's moment of badassedness and Shuuhei's release), he made me sit up and go "WTF - ? WHOA. AWESOME."

So Ggio's real power was turning into Toguro? It looked like Kubo just put his head on Toguro's 30% strength body, and gave him claws. The design was repulsive. And then Soifon killed him before we got a chance to see what it does--adding him to the smorgasbord of dead Arrancar who've added nothing to the story except borrowed time. Not that I expected much.

Apologists for SS say it's great to see all this development. Fuck that, I say--this cookie-cutter approach is the worst possible framework for developing anything. In the first place, it doesn't make sense that the war is so rigid, or that the Hogyoku has been churning out weaklings and uninspired SS-clones.

*sigh* I wanted to take another break the series, but I doubt that'll make a difference. The series has been terrible for more than two years, and hasn't matched the SS Arc in three. Given that, my taking two breaks already, and the way Kubo has set everything up, I don't see it getting any better.

I'm thinking of giving up on the series altogether. Maybe I'll wait until it ends and read the rest in one go. At this point, I get more out of complaining about the series than reading it--I can devote the time to stuff that's, you know, good.

For me, it wasn't so much that his release was 'OMG Do Not Want D:' so much as three chapters established Ggio as a speed-centric melee fighter with a confidant, cool demeanor, and suddenly he loses his temper, throws a tantrum and has this huge hulking form that screams "Hit me!"? >:|

Even if the fraccion were mostly fodder, the Cuuhlhourne didn't have a totally disgraceful end. Most of Barragan's men had pretty interesting personalities - well, save for Po I suppose. Even Snufflelafacar had some sense of humor pulling Omaeda's nose.

The past two chapters had been so great, the first in a long time, and this sudden slap-in-the-face fail hurt me, deep. Dx

I actually wrote yuri first, simply because there's so little of it in comparison. But my friend there is doing such a good job with Grimmjow that I... couldn't resist. xD God, I would LOVE to see omake involving the Arrancar. I just know Ggio and Grimmjow got along horribly awesomely.


And for those not into slash, there's also a crazy encounter going on between Ggio and gen-bend!Gavin.

Okay, seeing as Ggio was written out horribly, before we could learn more about, have any of you come up with your own perception of his canon? As in, his personality, past as a Menos, relationships with fellow Arrancars (gen, romantic, whatever floats your boat)?

I'd like to see everyone's thoughts before I share mine because it's hella tl:dr.

I was thinking about that as well, and I was wondering how he got along with Barragan's other Fraccion. I don't think that him and Abirama got along well, but I can see him and Findor as friendly rivals.

Well! For my long analysis of Ggio:

Now, I dearly love the boy, but I wouldn't heap tons of traits on his for the sake of fangirling. After some research (along with what I already know), I generally outlined Ggio's character as this:

I believe of Barragan's fraccion he was one the best - really because he is cunning and level-headed (for the most part, for those who consider his outburst at Soifon IC). We didn't get to see much of him but I think Po may have been the other who was most reliable, but we'll never know.

As for how he got along with his fellow fraccion; well, I think Charlotte totally acted like a big sister/mother in a way; Avirama the idiot older frat-boy brother; Findor... eh, I don't have much of an opinion on him; and either Po or Snufflelafacar likely helped to reign him in when his temper gets out of hand.

However, I had unintentionally made Ggio's past before becoming an Arrancar very similar to a certain Espada's; but the difference being that Ggio chose the path of servitude for his own identity, while the other became his own king.

Which is why I believe interactions between Grimmjow and Ggio could have been amazing.

Looking at the other Espada and arrancar I had the feeling that Ggio, while loyal and grateful for his position as a Fraccion under one of the top three Espada, is also someone who had the chance to become more - but can't since he's bound to his duty. N-no, that had nothing to do with how he could've made a great addition to the cast but was killed off in a stupid manner.

Ah, I also came to the personal conclusion that Ggio's Hollow hole was just beneath his sternum - oddly enough, after looking back and reading some chapters today I think it's in the same place as Wonderweiss'. I chose the spot considering the chakra point it's associated with - nothing to do with Naruto, look it up on wikipedia.

I even decided an exact birthdate for him - but that's for another day X3

Interesting analysis LoneCub! I'm hoping we'll get some flashbacks from Barragan or something...anything to bring Ggio back in the manga for a short bit. It'd be awesome to see some back story for him :XD

Considering the rate the anime is moving, it might not be too long before we see him arriving in the fake Karakura along with the rest of team Aizen :yay

Heh, thanks you guys. XP Considering Luppi looked MUCH more girly/androgynous than Ggio but had a very masculine voice, I'm hoping Ggio doesn't sound younger than him; physically they look the same age, though Ggio is more developed that Luppi (in a masculine sense, of course).

I'm also curious as to what his official colors will be. XD I really hope it's close to what I illustrate him with (though I'd trust a manga color scan more than the anime, considering how Orihime's eyes changed colors). I just couldn't see him with a cool palette like Apache or crazy bright colors like Lillinette.

When Ggio's fight is animated I hope it's drawn out a bit as we don't get hand-to-hand combat often in Bleach; come to think of it, it's debatable whether or not the Pedulum arc will be animated, so if we HAD to have fillers, I want some Arrancar ones!


...If only to see Charlotte chasing Ggio around, trying to pretty up his hair or something XD


No matter the case, Ggio lives on through me every day! I can honestly say he's my favorite Bleach character. It's a bit weird, considering I've loved Bleach for years and have plenty of characters I like and love, but I never had a definite favorite until now. X3

I didn't really think Luppi's voice is that masculine. :lmao I've always imagined Ggio sounding pretty young though.

I'm sure we'll get the Pendulum arc (considering they're gonna badly need all the material they can get to keep away from getting too close to the manga). We may see chapter 315 animated soon, but then I can foresee it going to the Pendulum arc, and then to fillers again :noworry So I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be awhile before we see Ggio's actual fight.
