The only movies which were scary to me were: Grave Encounters (the first one - the second was good but not as scary) & the tunnel (not to the be mistaken with Hollywood's shitty "Creep" adaption...).
Paranormal Activity also has it's moments.
I've seen a ton of horror movies over the years but those are the only ones I really consider horror. So many which are labled horror are simply gorefest's - nothing scary about it imho. I much prefer things I can't see or jumpscares.

Insidious. One of the very few 5/5 horror flicks.

I watched Sinister a while ago. Not anything I'd call "Scary", but still a good suspenseful thriller I think. I thought it was pretty good, a bit humorous at times.
Another good set of movies is the Silent Hill movies. There are two of them out now, "Silent Hill" and "Silent Hill: Revelations", both good movies and worth watching at least once I think.

I've seen so many of them but one when I was younger that freaked me out was the House on Haunted Hill. PG-13 movie but to me, more freaky than the R rated ones I've seen.

I've seen lots of Scary movies. Here's some of them:
Grudge (first one)
The Ring (first one)
The Rite
Paranormal Activity I-III
Halloween series (the originals--1980s)
White Noise (first one)
The only two horror movies that ever scared me was Paranormal Activity I and White Noise.

Same here - saw this movie once when I was little and I ran out of my house terrified, afraid to go back inside to where the tv was. It is truly a horrifying movie.
I've been watching plenty of scary movies lately; Cloverfield, The Thing, Chernobyl Diaries, the Final Destination movies, etc. Out of them all, I would recommend the Descent, Chernobyl Diaries, and the Final Destination movies, all of which are incredibly creepy and scary. The Descent made my anxiety jump straight through the roof, while Final Destination has such a truly terrifying premise it's built on.
