I like Senna as well.I know she is only in the movie but still.She had very interesting and bittersweet story and she reminds me of myself in some moments XD.I wish she could replace Orihime in the manga (unfortunately,Senna will never return in the anime because she's a filler character)I don't hate because she loved Ichigo.The movie has nothing to do with the manga and it's not even placed between some episodes or written by Kubo.I still dislike IchiSenna,but Senna is one of my favourite girls.Making leaves is cool too ^_^

I usually pretty much despise female characters in anime/manga because I don't like the way they are portrayed in shonen series. There are usually two types of them. Those sweet innocent ones and those tough chicks who always beat the guys around. Or then they serve no other purpose but to show around their boobs which are as big as their head.

BUT Rukia is one of those characters who makes an exception and I kind of like Yoruichi and Soifon too.
Rukia is strong AND believable female character. She does not even need a sword to appear strong. Her character design is also pretty original. At least when compared to the other female lead character in other anime/manga series.

Heh, I can't believe Nell isn't on here. She is definitely my favorite, mainly because of how she connects the entire race of Arrancar to human emotions as well as logic/reason. She bridges the gaps and show that Arrancar can act with love and feelings, just like humans and Shinigami can.

Neliel, Orihime, Halibel... Heh.

I like Neliel because she seems like a reasonable fighter, which is a breath of fresh air into a world of bloodthirsty warriors. Her emotional side and her displayed "I'm a cold bitch" attitude (when speaking to Nnoitora) makes her slightly deeper than other characters.

Orihime; I favor her because of her unique powers (not a lot of people have "event rejection", usually it's time reversal or granting wishes). Her personality is also interesting, she's a very typical 15-year-old girl, and that's just it, she doesn't suddenly turn into a badass female fighter like often happens in such stories, she keeps her doubts, her fears, and her first love, and she still has to deal with saving the world.

Halibel... I have a hunch she might be Neliel V2.

Also, I am intrigued by Unohana. She's feared by many, is a senior captain and has interesting powers. And yet, she seems to be such a motherly figure and a quiet person. It's highly interesting.

Matsumoto is my favorite female character, and not because of her assets.

I love the fact that she can be quite the ditz, especially around Hitsugaya. My favorite moment with her, though, is in the anime when Ichigo tells her that she can't stay at his place, and she starts to unbutton her shirt/lift up her skirt for him, causing him to freak out. <- LOL.

Orihime is definitely my second favorite, as I love her personality...basically everything Undying said.

Nel and Yachiru are tied for third, being Bleach's cutest and most random midgets.

Truthfully, Kubo has many more characters to develop that adding more to the mix than necessary wouldn't be that good. Even if Tatsuki got powers, she would be relatively weak, and a focus on this would detract from Urahara, Yoruichi, Isshin, Ryuuken, Yamamoto, Ukitake, Shunsui, Vaizards, etc.

Unohana Retsu for three reasons.

1) One of the few females who have obtained Captain status, and has been there since the very beginning. She has a lot of experience and is looked upon as a role model.

2) Her personality is kind and warm, yet you know she is very powerful and strong. A great combination in a character which makes her very unique. She has a soft appearance, but underneath you know there is something more.

3) The fact that she leads Squad 4 which specializes in healing which is something looked down upon or considered below the other squads who mainly focus on fighting. How we see other strong characters fear and respect easily makes her a great character. Remembering when Rudubon and his squad ran away when she told them she was a Captain during the HM arc sealed the deal for me. She's just freaking awesome and I can't wait to see her fight.

Also I remember reading it somewhere long ago on NMR or NF that always makes me chuckle.

Bufff... difficult choice. Bleach is full of awesome female characters.

I voted for Rukia, Orihime, Unohana (has way less votes than she deserves), Matsumoto, Momo and Nanao. But there are lots who are incredible, too. I just didn't want to vote for everyone. By the way, I miss adult Neliel BADLY.

I must agree with all the people who said that Kubo is incredible in his wide arrange of female characters. He has LOTS of female characters with defined personalities. That's so great. As a general rule, the girl in a group of boys was just "the girl", and she didn't have a full personality. She was just there so there were some tits around the guys. Kubo has created LOTS of interesting and believable female characters.

Reasons:

-Rukia: she's completely different from anyone we've seen before. She's tomboyish and elegant, strong and fragile, funny but can be serious, mature and with a charming drawing hobby. Plus, her sword kicks ass and she has three shikais. My favourite in the Hueco Mundo arc. I wish she was my older sister. It's impossible not to love Rukia, because she's one of the coolest female characters ever to grace papers and screens. The best perfumes come in small packages.

-Orihime Inoue: She was my favourite at the beginning of the series. Her ditzy, imaginative personality rang a bell inside me. I very much identified with her (alas, I'm not that gorgeous). I wanted to hug her. I want a little sister like her. There's nothing not to love in Orihime. Besides, in my opinion she's the most beautiful girl in Bleach. I find Matsumoto exaggeratedly endowed, but I find Orihime perfect.

When Rukia regained her powers, I started liking her more. And Orihime hasn't been herself lately. But hey, I don't blame her for that. I mean, it's logical that she's not the upbeat, ditzy, imaginative, talkative darling we knew. She's been kidnapped, for goodness' sake. If she wasn't a little bit depressed, worried and angsty, she'd be either crazy or idiot. She's human, and as any human, gets upset when kidnapped. It's just normalcy. Problem with Bleach is that we are so used to people surviving lethal wounds, that when someone gets logically depressed, it seems "weak", when it's only a normal reaction. However, we MUST forgive her angsty side at Hueco mundo because Orihime gave one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL love declarations ever. If you don't love Orihime after her declaration to unconscious Ichigo, you kick kittens to death.

-Matsumoto Rangiku. Kubo f***s the blonde bombshell cliché with her. She's a blonde bombshell and a loyal friend, and thinks, and has flaws. She's good enough to be great, and human enough not to be perfect. Her only flaw as a character is that she makes us think Gin is gay. Hey, if you leave Matsumoto just to go to the dark side, you are GAY, Gin Ichimaru.

-Tatsuki: Why, oh Kubo, why? Why didn't you wake up Tatsuki's reiatsu too, and added her to the group of Ryokas? Whyyyyy? I'll never forgive you for creating such a kickass female and leaving her out of the action!

Well, thinking twice, I will forgive you, because even your secondary female characters have depth and are kick ass. And you deserve Aizen's throne for that. Still, give us more Tatsuki pleeeeease!

-Unohana: Boy, what's there not to love in Unohana. She's kickass and tender and calm. She can heal mortal wounds and scare the hell out of the 11th division berserks. She needs more voting, yo! After all what happened with Aizen, when the three renegades went to Hueco Mundo, she was just drinking tea and saying "I'ts been quite a day". She's the warmest person with the coolest temper. When I grow up, I want to be Unohana. If you don't like Unohana, you don't love your mother.

-Momo Hinamori. I must say that if Momo Hinamori wasn't one in this vast array of female awesomeness, I'd be sad that Kubo had made a female character this naive. But as she's not the only one, and considering her circumstances (pwned just like everyone else in Soul Society), I can't help but like her. Hey, it wasn't her fault to put her trust in someone like Aizen (if the traitor had been Unohana, Isane would have been in the same predicament, I think). Everyone thought Aizen was trustworthy. Momo had worse luck than everyone else. Otherwise, she's loyal and courageous. Doesn't control her feelings, though. It will do her good to be taken care of by über-awesome Unohana. But she has something I like very much... She acknowledges her mistakes. I mean, the first thing she did after waking up from the coma was apologize to Hitsugaya. Very first thing. Hey, she may be wrong sometimes, but at least recognizes it and apologizes for it.

I'll finish with one character who has the highest awesomeness ratio, as compared to her "screen time".

Neliel: When this little girl appeared in Hueco Mundo, I was somewhat disappointed. She seemed an unnecessary comic relief, and said things unproper of such a little child. When I discovered the truth, I was royally impressed by her. Adult Nel has about two conversations, and she's given a defined personality with just that. I LOVED her conversations with Nnoitra. I loved how she was grateful to Aizen because he had given her intelligence and consciousness back. I love her desire to be a warrior to help Aizen and to protect those who are weaker than her. Plus, her arrancar transformation is amazingly beautiful, and her looks impressive. I bow to Tite Kubo for being able to create such a GREAT character in about two or three scenes. By the way, I wish she met Momo. They have very similar personalities.

Yoruichi kicks ass too, of course, and her uninhibited easygoing personality rocks. But I can't write a treatise about why every character is awesome, and probably no one's going to read it anyway.

Soi fon rocks. Nanao rocks. Karin rocks. Yuzu doesn't rock, but I want to hug her sooo much. And the best of it all is that, if you don't like a few of them, you MUST like some others. There's room for everyone's tastes here. And as a woman, I find it SO difficult to find good female characters! And Kubo gives LOTS, with varied personalities and great loads of coolness, awesomeness, tenderness, kindness, emotions, calm... whatever.

Yachiru Kusajishi is funny and cute, but she's all the better because she's paired with Kenpachi Zaraki. It would have been so easy to make Kenpachi the typical brute warrior that lives only for a good fight. And somehow, Yachiru and his way of treating his subordinates, make him a totally unique brute warrior... Hey, Kubo is a master creating characters.

I love this mangaka, really. I hope he hires other illustrators and starts producing spin-offs (text by him, drawings by someone else), so we have more bleach with which to endure our withdrawals symptoms.

I voted for Tatsuki because, although she doesn't have any amazing powers like the "competition", she has a really interesting and conflicted character. She has seen so much of Ichigo's world, and struggles because she is helpless to do anything about it, and can no longer protect orihime since she has no powers. I feel great sympathy for her character, and she seems like the person I would talk to in real life. I was really touched during the part when she punched Ichigo in the face as tears poured down her face, demanding to know what was going on, why he was so secrative, and what had happened to all her friendships. Her world is changing around her and there is nothing she can do about it.
