Devil May Cry

I haven't played any of the games or read any of the manga or novels. Just wondering if any of you that might have read/played it think it could be a nice anime?! I've downloaded first episode but haven't seen it yet.

Not asking for spoilers. Just wondering if it could have a future :rolleyes:

I'm not really a follower in games, but undoubtly he's the videogame character with the most uber style..

I saw the first episode (only raw) and liked it.
The animation is great (madhouse? the same animators that are responsible for Death Note).
I´m curious about the story and I want to see Trish and Lady.

I played the whole DMC series and I especially loved DMC and DMC 0/3.

I just browsed a little on anidb the other day and just rememberd seeing the name in gaming a lot. It's only 1 episode out so far I think.

edit: Well, watched the episode now and I enjoyed it. Seemed like a decent series from what I could see. Of course it's only first episode.

Yup, the first episode is out! I think there's going to be 25 in total? Maybe less; I'm not sure. But the animation is great! I just have a problem with the fight scenes, since in the game he does a lot of acrobatics/jumping/martial arts/etc. Here he pretty much just stands around and shoots. XD But it's only the first episode so we'll see. :)

BTW Lady appears in episode 2, so I can't wait for that! Oh, and I played DMC3 and some of DMC1. I read the manga too (but I'd only recommend it for DMC fans; anyone else probably won't like it). Big fan of the games and waiting for DMC4 to come out. ^^

Saw the first couple of episodes were for download. Might check it out. Played all the games, they were fun as hell. If the story is going to be based off them, might kinda ruin the fun for me.

Hmm, nah, the anime is set post-DMC3 but pre-DMC1 so no worries about game spoilers! We get to see Lady and Trish too. ^^ However they never mentioned a voice actor for Vergil, so it looks like he won't be in it (but it's also possible that he could be a surprise character later on).

The anime is only gonna be 12 episodes long.

Anyways, the first episode was okay. Story was a bit boring and predicting, nothing interesting about it, IMO. I just see this as the "filler" portion of the DMC series. The animation is sweet though.

I dont see how this is pre-DMC1, I think it's post-DMC1. Both Trish and Lady are gonna appear on this anime. If I remember correctly, the first concept art that was released of DMC4 had both of them on it. So what Im thinking is that this anime will eventually lead up to DMC4.

I am yet to see probably catch it during this weekend . Being a fan of the series have high hopes pinned on this show .

When you convert video games into an anime there always is an obstacle to overcome .Please the video game fans . Also does it measure unto the GunGrave which is most definitely the measuring stick

I was expecting Devil May cry to be much more violent but unfortunately it is not . The BGM was good the animation was excellent I did find something lacking in the story . Maybe less talk more action would have been better . Also I did not quite like Dante’s personality I had imagined something different

If this anime was not based on the franchise Devil May Cry just maybe I would not have a reason to be a bit disappointed but as it is I am . You cant judge a book by its cover same applies for one episode . Just may be I was expecting it to be awesome like GunGrave but its too early.

Yeah, I agree. I didn't really like how they portrayed Dante in this, but I think they took his personality from more than just the games. The strawberry sundae thing was supposedly from the DMC novella, so the animators probably read some of the extra stuff out there.

But you're right; it's still the first episode so there's definitely room for improvement.

The DMC4 producer confirmed an old character is coming back, but wouldn't say who it was. The concept art was just them messing around a little before DMC4 was really developed yet, so the fans aren't sure whether both the girls are coming back, or just one.

The show despite its mediocre first two episodes has been licensed finding torrents wont be that easy anymore . Every month ADVFilms gives me new reasons for hating it

I´m afraid we won´t see Vergil in the anime.
Afaik the anime takes place after DMC 0/3 and DMC 1.
That´s why we get to see Trish and Lady/ Mary (but not Lucia p.e.).
In DMC Dante met Nelo Angelo => Vergil decided to stay in the underworld at the end of DMC 3; that´s where he met Mundus who made him into Nelo Angelo.
That´s what I remember; if it´s wrong, please correct me.

And yeah: the little blond girl also freaks me out....

I´d have enjoyed it if he appeared in the anime.
He is one of my favourite characters in the game (obviously; he´s Dante´s twin brother after all and I like him being bad-ass :3).

This episode was better than the last one DMC got its own version of Lara Croft Lily Croft The BGM was rocking and reached a crescendo during fight scenes Dante character development especially personality needs some tweaking he has to have shades of Black and White . Dante is just too mice

After reading one of the heterochromatic threads Lily qualifies as one. The pacing of this episode was better than the last one the bike sequence was the highlight of this episode. Dante should be teamed up with lily more she brings out a different person in Dante. I like that personality

Thus episode was better than episode 1 actually a lot better got high hopes on episode 3 as it is supposedly the best out of lot . I would have preferred major arcs to one episode mini arcs

As I had heard this episode was up to the mark. I was happy to see a cold Dante the one I am longing for but I was not disappointed seeing a caring Dante. I liked the them it was love that too forbidden love. I was expecting a sad ending to that love but luckily, for me it was not so

Also this arc has a good story the tale was combined into DMC format pretty well. Kudos to the writers and the director for executing this episode. This kind of episode leaves you wanting for more unlike Episode 1 and 2

I just saw the episode where Trish appeared. Seems I was right about the anime being post-DMC. Now Im hoping it really ties up to DMC4 by the final episode, like I said. :P

Ep 4 was good but lacking in comparision with ep 3 . DMC needs to step up if it wants to live up to its franchise

Meh, I'm not a big fan of this series. I don't mind the quality of the animation and all. Just these episodes are too random. I need more story. Often I feel everything is "done" by first half of the episode and second half is just stretched out to fill the time. Not saying it's BAD...but for me it all feels like one big filler.
