Bleach 284 - Historia de Pantera y su Sombras

From Ichigo's attack he injured GJ and GJ fall. However GJ grapped Tensa Zangetsu said 'Did you think...you can win...with something like this?' Then he attacked Ichigo with Orihime screaming 'Kurosaki Kun!!!'

Then it was about how menos are born. We understand that Gillains were born from hundreds of hollows that pile and mix together. They ate other hollows instead of human souls.

However, gillians who were born this way sometime one might not really lose itself. This gillian would eat other gillians and if it eaten enough it would become 'adjucha'. The problem is if they don't continue to eat, they would return to gillian form. And once that happen, they would lose their conscious and could never return to adjucha ever again.


Then we have GJ's flasback where GJ in his original form attacked a hollow. Suddenly he was surrouded by four hollows (his fraccions but all of them were in their original form except one who still looked like a gillian)

Shawlong complimented GJ and asked for his name 'Impressive. What is your name, Adjucha?' He replied and then Shawlong asked him to join them. Then they bowed to GJ. Shawlong said 'We don't plan to be only either Gillian or Adjucha. We plan to be vastlord one day. And for that, strengths are important. Strengths that could push us to that point and you are the one who have them.' And continued 'Come with us GJ. From now on you are our king.'

Back to the fight, GJ's attack injured Ichigo's stomach. He jumped back a little but still staring at GJ which have him all angry again 'You're always like this. No matter how many time I beat you, you still think you could win. Still think you're stronger!! This is pissing me off!!!'

Ichigo laughed and replied 'Piss off about what? That a mere human like me could be at your level?' Which earned Ichigo another punch in the stomach then a kick from GJ.

"No! Either you're a human or a shinigami or arrancar it doesn't matter. Whoever dare look at me that way I'll kill them all!'

Gj re-appeared behind Ichigo 'You're the first one did this, Kurosaki Ichigo!' then all his nails were glowing and said 'take this.'

I'm pretty sure I made some mistakes since I'm sick right now so I apologies. But someone might come and correct them later.

Good question, I know zenkai means full throttle but I dunno if it was used especially cos it resembles the word bankai. Maybe it is @_@ I don't think they mentioned it before?

And I was a person that had said a second release would be unlogical because Espadas are only very strong Numeros after all, not another entity.

Unless Hougyoku creates that difference, it's going to be illogical. If Hougyoku shatters the barier between Hollow part and Shinigami part of Arrancar even more, thus allowing a second release, it's going to be absolutely illogical. Fallen Espada didn't have a second release after all. The thing is, they weren't arrancarized by Hougyoku.

But current Espada surely can't be the only ones to be arrancarized by Hougyoku, why didn't some Numeros we had seen have second releases too? Or may be Hougyoku really can't be used that much, hence why he needs Orihime. After all, Wonderwyce was espada level but wasn't an espada, and he was arrancarized by Hougyoku too.

Anyways, I'm waiting in silence till we get some more information. (Silence? This? Someone stop me.)

I'm going to take the risk by saying that it is possible Kubo is heading towards the concept, 'it's not necessarily the Hongyouku factor that will make you an Espada'.

Of course I'm going along with the spoiler lines.

Unless we see the whole RAWs....it's possible that Kubo makes Grimmjaw to be Renji/Ikkaku alike.....training consistently to achieve 'full throttle' mode

If it's true....no need Hongyouku ball to reach that greatest height.....Ichigo may have that little lingering hope to go power-up without 'false' steroid (Hongyouku).

So, Grimmjow is used to lording over his little pride of hollows like a degenerate Lion King. It's no wonder he shirks Aizen's control.

His purely animal form is interesting, though. The other hollows we've seen have been monsters with clown masks. I wonder whether it's coincidence or power that gave Grimm the only naturally occurring form we've thus far seen.

It would seem appropriate that gillians and lesser hollows would have the form of hybrid monsters, adjuchas would have an animal form, and espada, human form. We've been told that increased power in hollows equates to an increased appearance of humanity, so this might work if you consider purely natural forms to be closer to human than unnatural monster ones. Whatever the case is, this cat seems like it's trying to tell us something.

Haha, even though it'd be completely OOC, I'd like to see that. We haven't had much humor in the latest chapters.

Just the other day I was comparing SS arc to the HM arc and thought that, besides the plot twists, flashbacks were another thing that was highly present in SS and none at all in HM (if I recall correctly). So then I thought this would be an excellent time for a GJ flashback -- and I admit I then thought that would be the end of this fight. But now with the ZENKAI! I'm not so sure anymore.

Still, flashbacks are a nice distraction from pure fighting and I like character development, so I'm not complaining. ***waits for full summary and the raw***

Well, Zenkai could be a "new" release. Resurreccion brings the zanpaktou out in form of their former hollow attack form. (Ie. Arrancar becoming more hollow and less human).

But every resurreccion-release that we have seen,the arrancar only partly become hollow, like most Numeros had their upper body turned hollow like Volcanus and the bull-numeros.

Perhaps Zenkai is not a half change, but a full change back to a full hollow form. So the panther might be his true hollow form, to which he can return to (but keeping all the arrancarized power) with the Zenkai release.

Or it might simply be that he wants to run over the plains in full speed (full throttle), hunting prey down:)

No the kamakaze attack is just speculation i think. He doesn't want to lose no matter what so is going all out. I took that as he might be gonna kill himself just to make sure he wins the fight but it's just a guess.

I didn't get the feeling that grimmy is going to croak on us any time soon. if anything, I think the creepy parallel to renji during SS (including the 1-hit KO followed by a flashback to the past) bodes well for grimmy's survival and possibly changing sides down the line.

It's interesting if all of Grimmjaw and his faccion were the original incomplete arrancars that were in HM before Aizen came. If that's the case then Grimmjaw has a right to be slightly upset about his place as King of Hollows being disrubted by Aizen.

I wonder if he'll burn himself up with this last chance attack? It's an interesting development and one I wasn't expecting.

With a rebel yell, we cried more, more, more, Grimmjow!!! Yey, Grimmjow lives! Well at least for another chapter! Getting a flashback is always good (well unless your Dordonie), but Grimm as a panther totally rocks! The line from Himajin's summary is interesting though, "Even though Grim has lost, he still has the spirit of a rebel!" I really hope that means he's going to live and rebel even more against Aizen (he is a shinigami after all). I'd rather that then for it to mean it's Grimm's way of going out with a bang (i.e. suicide).

I'm probably the only one who's thinking this, but the title "King of Dominion" (if that's the real thing) just reminds me so much of the King's Dominion amusement park in Virginia:

This chapter seems really interesting. I'm glad Grimmjow doesn't die in this chapter. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, yet I'm also preparing for the worst. :/

It seems I'm one of the few who actually took a liking to the Arrancars that invaded the real world with Grimmjow. It's nice to see at least one of them in a flashback, and it's not too surprising that Shawlong had respect for Grimmjow. I wish he had lived longer, though.

I was thinking exactly that XD They have a lot of animosity (XP) between themselves and a former fight could be the reason. Unresolved conflict and such, but because of their status as fellow Espada, much like with SS captains, they can't just duke it out because they want to.

Anyway, the summary sounds very interesting. The 'Ichigo laughing' part sounds soooo weird and out of character, but we'll see what's up with that when more pics or summaries come out.

KittyGrim is awesome~ XD And so fitting, imagining GJ prowling HM looking for hollows to kill.

I made a prediction long ago that post-was Hueco Mundo would have Grimmjow as its king.... so that was a little thrilling to hear him referred to as king.
But... too many suspicious things in that spoiler script that people have pointed out. And whenever I hear any mention of "vastolorde" I suspect some fan imagination has been at work.

You know....if it's really true that Grimm fights a vastorode, it would have been finished for Soul Society. Aizen would have probably completed his vasteroide collections, changing them all into negative ten Espadas(the superior types) and attack Soul Society.

That does beg the question about what does Ichigo have after this. I really thought his strike in the last chapter was it. But apparently not. I don't mind as we get another Grimm chapter. Ichigo already powered up in the last few chapters (maintain his mask longer), what else can he show? Isn't it one upgrade per boss fight? I'd be surprised if he gets another move to his bankai or even Cero now. Though, not so sure how effective his Cero will be against Grimm going all out.

Sadly, I can't think of any other way for Grimm to stay alive. Joining the good guys is out of the question, that would just sever Grimm's pride as an arrancar. He takes a lot of pride in his 'Sexta' Espada seat.

...But would Ichigo leave kitty-cat Grimm to bleed to death like Bya/Ulqui did to Ichigo? I Doubt it, Ichigo hates Grimm like he hates Shirosaki. I just hope Grimmjow puts one hell of a good show on before he leaves us.

All I want is Rukia!!! I miss her, Bleach doesn't seem to progress without her.

I like GJ but I don't want his death to be prolonged because I think it would make it seem cheap, very cheap. Kubo would just be using him to delay the thing he is trying to avoid - the end of bleach. This chapter does seem needed though, the flashback which everyone seems to get (well Renji did, even though he didn't die). Hopefully for the sake of GJ's character he dies next chapter or two.

On topic, the pictures we have don't give us much to go on, and Himajin's spoilers are always nearly impossible to understand. I just decided to skip the fake script. Not much to actually talk about until we see either better pictures or the real script, preferably both.

It would be cool if his battle cry is a call to arms and hundreds, no thousands of other hollows start coming to help their king. This is certainly an incredible fight and it appears that we are set for at least another chapter of fighting. Yea, Griffith, Kubo has given us a mega marathon of Ichigo pwnage. (and getting pwned). It's great for action, but you can only go so many weeks without any actual story progression. We are now in week 14 of almost constant Ichigo fighting. There was a little bit of the Szayel fight in there, but it was always back to Ichigo. It's fun, for a couple of chaters, but I think we are ready for something more.

Shawlong is the oldest Arrancar out of the Numeros. Perhaps an Espada may be older than Shawlong, but since that person is in the Espada, it doesn't count.

Also I'd like to mention that Shawlong doesn't look like a typical Gillian... you know... the huge body with the pointy noses. Kinda odd if you ask me.

On topic, the pictures we have don't give us much to go on, and Himajin's spoilers are always nearly impossible to understand. I just decided to skip the fake script. Not much to actually talk about until we see either better pictures or the real script, preferably both.

this fight between ichi and grimm has been pretty cool to me, it hasn't dragged on that much, each chapter they did something new in the fight. chapter 285 will probably end the fight, after all they've shown all they can do, plus it's shown flashbacks and ichigo seems to be at his limit and they say they want to end it. when this fight is animated this fight should be really cool.

Yea Slev is right, that is what Aizen said, so that makes him gillian. An arrancarized gillian. Then after Aizen he was a hougyokuized arrancar. It's almost for sure that his looked changed from step to step.

This very much implies that all five of them were Gillian. Shawlong was one of those five. For all we know the Shawlong in the spoiler pic is an arrancarized gillian, like Velius said. That could be before Aizen did something to him with the hougyoku.

I think this fight is getting a little long. The way I see it, since Grimmjow is going all out at the end of this chapter, Ichigo may need another boost, thus making this chapter end around 286/287. IMO, Vaizard!Ichigo didn't quite have a walk in the park with GJ and for Grimm to go full power would mean Ichigo might lose if he doesn't power up, too.

But then again, who knows, still speculation right now about the chap, anyway. Can't wait for more info.

true, I think that move that grimmjow did was pretty much a super powered strike of what he's been doing all the while.

I find it fascinating though, that grimmjow and shawlong are both small hollows. Also, grimmjow was fighting vastarodes (implying he, himself, is an ajuuca, but quite possibly the strongest one, or one of them).

I think this means that vastarode, ajuuca, and gillian are three classes of menos, while menos grande is a class which is made of giant gillians (basically, hollows who merged with other hollows to gain their size).

It also explains how you can have a gillian be a brother to an ajuuca.

I for one, and VERY happy with this change. Not that I don't want to see this fight end, because I do, desparately even, but it's still nice to see something different. It's been a while since we've had a flashback, and since this is from Grimmjow, it's very significant and interesting.

I have no idea now if he's going to die or not, but I'm prepared for either outcome. No matter what happens, I know it'll be great cuz KT hasn't ever let me down so far^^

Anyway, this GJ vs Ichigo fights, seem to parallel the Renji vs Ichigo fight during the SS arc. The similarities is just glaring, imo. Renji is the VC of the 6th division. GJ is the 6th espada. Both are hard-headed and rebel-type characters. Both have a grudge against Ichigo. Both have animal-like qualities to their powers. Both fights have 2 spectators - Ganju & Hanatarou during the SS arc, Orihime & Nell during this arc. Ah, got to love Kubo and his parallels ;)

If this fight is supposed to be similar to the Renji fight then in Ichigo's next fight Hollow Ichigo/Zangetsu should appear and give his full power to Ichigo. I think it will be Ulquiorra, he stabs Ichigo then some inner world stuff happens, he gains the power and rapid regenerates his wounds and proceeds to beat Ulquiorra in a tough battle where Ulquiorra goes all out.

This chapter looks great and only highlights why we love Grimmjow.

Also, I was recently discussing with a buddy if there were any implications to GJ's fraccion all apparently being the senior non-Espada arrancar. I was thinking it was simply a brain-fart on KT's side, but its good to see that there was/is rhyme & reason to it all.

Finally, more insight into the world Bleach! Thanks KT and thanks, guys, for bringing it to us!

I would say that this fight has way too many elements from a variety of fights in Soul Society to be a parallel.

Ichigo's fighting someone he's faced twice before. The only time that happened in ANY form in the SS arc was him vs Byakuya.

The opposition has a flashback DURING the fight.
... never happened before o.O Renji, and Zaraki had one after though.

Ichigo having to protect someone WHILE fighting.
... never happened in the Soul Society arc. (Let's be honest, the aizen fight just doesn't count)

The opposition is disobeying direct orders in order to fight Ichigo
Again, never happened. All his opponents were ordered to fight him.

Ichigo powers up (mask), enemy powers up (release), Ichigo shows new strength (keeping the mask on), enemy shows new power (giant claw attack).

The only thing comparable is the zaraki fight, which is "Ichigo outclassed, enemy nearly kills Ichigo, Ichigo shows new strength, enemy shows new strength (removing eyepatch)"

Really, this fight has no parallel

I totally agree with you! :) there are lots of parallels between the SS arc and the HM arc. Of course there are differences between the 2 and it is these differences that separates the 2 arcs and makes it exciting for us readers.

My thought is that KT is just setting us up for something by misleading us into thinking that this arc will end in similar fashion to the SS arc... just my 2 cents worth... :)

Oh, I noticed the other similarities too. I'm sure other readers has also noticed these parallels as well, and I never said in my post that the outcome will be the same. I was just referring to some of the similarities of this fight with the Renji vs Ichigo one during the SS arc :cool:

Eh? Renji and GJ have a lot in common even there "suicide/last ditch" attacks, flashbacks, previous fights (yes remember he fought when Rukia was taken) also pre-main arc. All we need now is for ichigo to survive cause of his mask, and were complete, oh and lest we forget Grim must survive, actually his flashback makes him seem an anti-aizen so maybe he has some plot left in him? ^_^

Grimmjow might resemble renji's character (at least, the renji we saw in SS) but not the renji fight. There was no "Last ditch effort" in the renji/Ichigo fight by Renji. Contrary, it was Ichigo who did a last ditch effort, when he was barely able to stand.

Secondly, Renji sought Ichigo out, fought him, then asked Ichigo to save Rukia in his stead. Don't see Grimmjow doing anything of the sort here. We also saw Renji COMPLETELY dominate Ichigo during their fight, until the very end. In this fight, it's been dead on the whole time.

The Ichigo/Renji FIGHT doesn't resemble this one much.

Grimmjow might resemble a younger Renji though (since the SS arc, Renji's moved to a more adult, captain-like personality)

Seems to be an interesting chapter as GJ is one of my favorite characters. Yet, I'm worried as flashbacks often appear just before a character's death.
I'm a bit surprised by hollow-GJ's looks. I thought that, since he is at least an adjucca, he would have looked more human (but not completely) and then looked human after becoming an hybrid. Anyway, I really like how he looked before becoming an arrancar.
I also like the fact that some arrancars as Shawlong are not following stronger arrancars just because they are weaker than them but also because they respect or admire them.

Maybe it's caused by him using his hollow powers. During the fight against Byakuya, when Shirosaki took over, he acted as if he unhurt although Ichigo had taken a White Lightning and other attacks. Perhaps using hollow powers grants the vizard a kind of steel skin like the arrancars. Yet, it would use the hollow's reiatsu, hence making the mast break faster.

Grimmjow having fought a Vastroode? That script sounds more like Grimmjow fanfiction based on the small spoilers and pictures we got.

Regardless, it's nice how we're getting some more backstory on Grimmjow, and it does make me hope he survives this battle with Ichigo and continues to play a prominent role in the storyline. (turning against Aizen does seem possible to me)

On the other hand, Ichigo needs to fully win and show that he does have the fighting power and killing intent necessary to beat the other Espada, and eventually Aizen himself.

I liked this chapter. Completely. Sure there is no progress, but the art was beyond acceptable (this outweighing lack of progress by itself) and the flashback was cool. Who knew Shawlong was so respectable? And GJ's hollow form was so much win. Not to mention the new attack is looking tight.

All in all, I see nothing wrong with this chapter, 8/10.

Btw, is Shawlong the Rukia to Grimmjow's Renji? Kikoeru ka? The shippers...they are coming to kill me.

If Grimmy has all the of oldest Arrancar (Though, confusingly, only odd numbers I believe e.g. 11, 13, 15.... Okay, D-roy was 16 and Nakim was never stated, but being as they are the least interesting off the 5, they dont count :rolleyes:) then this must imply that at a very minimum he was around at the begining to be able to choose these arrancar. As Buu said, its not just coincidence, but actually mean something thanks to this chapter.

Possibly. Im only working by what Szyael said, when he said that one of the priviliages of being an espada was chosing their own fraccion. However, that doesnt mean that both of our ideas are mutually exclusive. It could just be 6 of one, and half a dozen of the other.

Well..I don't think that's necessarily true..they all have their distinct Reiatsu so they know who is who..imho..whether they 'evolve' or not, the 'scent' or something like that will still be the same.
