HERE ARE THE RULES FOR THE FC: PLEASE READ THEM AND BEHAVE ACCORDINGLY

*If you do not like a pairing DO NOT post in that pairing FC. If you read the fanclub and want to discuss something that was said then sort it out via PM or elsewhere, do NOT go into that fanclub and start a war. Anyone posting in a pairing fanclub that isn't a fan will almost automatically recieve a ban.

*You can discuss other pairings but when others discuss your pairing negatively and you don't like it sort it out through pm, if you break the above rule to start a flame war it's an instant ban.

*Neg reps to rival pairing fc posts over such things won't be tolerated. I consider this being in an FC of a pairing you don't like therefore breaking a rule.

*I'd suggest just totally not reading the fc of the pairing you don't like but I know that is never gonna happen. You all wanna be able to talk about other pairings so much well fine but just be prepared for others to do it about your favourite pairing also. These rules were changed as per YOUR wishes so don't come complaining to me when you decide you don't like the change.

Ch52: Rukia is running away, and remembers the lunch she had with the girls. Slight Rukia --> Ichigo.

Volume 7:
Ch53: Ichigo worries, and find her with Renji and Byakuya.
Ch54: Ichigo-Renji first fight. Renji explaining how Rukia protected him by going out.
Ch55: Rukia understanding Ichigo's reaction, and still wanting him safe, helps him out. He freaks out, and is about to defeat Renji when Byakuya helps his VC.
Ch56: Rukia wanting to be by Ichigo's side, who is deeply injured. Ending up helping him and saving him. Is taken away, leaving Ichigo in despair.
Ch57: Ichigo's despair (not wanting to live anymore) and resolution to go and save Rukia, to become stronger for her.
Ch58: Ichigo's sad when he understands that no one reminds of Rukia, and left pondering when he realises that the world still continue to live without her.

Ch79: feel the life coming back to Rukia when Renji told her about Ichigo barging in.

Ch81: Ichigo's talking with Ganjuu about Rukia, slight Ichigo --> Rukia.

Volume 11:
Ch94: pure IchiRuki goodness, brought by Hanatarou and Ichigo reminding Rukia.

-Rukia then spends most of the time looking out for Ichigo and worrying for him [a few days, ch214 to 228]
-When she learns that he's ok, she goes back to SS with Inoue to train for a month [ch228 to 231]
-She comes back, saves Ichigo, is nearly killed and saved, and has to look out for Ichigo during the night.
-Next time we know, they're being separated (again) [separation: more than a month; reunion: a day or so reunion: ch235-238; time separated: ch213 to 235]
-Only to be reunited again in HM [separation: two days or so; reunion: an hour at most, probably less than that! reunion: ch246-248, separation: ch239 to 246]

I like the fact there are many members because IchiRuki can be seen in many ways. It's nice to see so many views on the pairing.
Yes, I agree popularity is not that important but it kind of plays a role. Hardly but it does.
Not in which pairing will Kubo choose but what fans do. Because popularity is result of the manga. Why is IchiRuki more popular than some pairings? Because it's more interesting and people are more convinced in it.
Of course you can believe a pairing will happen and still not ship it(and the opposite). But I think if IchiRuki was not so unique, so many people wouldn't ship it.
Likeness of a pairing to become canon is not the only thing that attracts audience, yes, take UlquiOri for instance. It's so loved because it's very very interesting. I think same goes for IchiRuki.

I missed the canon ichigo ang rukia but I still thank the fillers because both of them had a good exposure in that particular arc. I will be waiting for the anime battle of nel and also the fight of byakuya which rukia was controlled by the espada 7. And the turn back the pendulum and chapter 317 to be in series. YEY

Now, to veer the discussion back to the canonosity of Ichigo's intention's in SS vis-a-vis HM and whatnot, I be bringing a few questions. You can answer them all or you can pick what you want, its up to you. Also, please be sure to not bash Inoue or anything related to her 'excessive' feelings or otherwise, if you know what I mean. :learn

Alright, enough dillydallying, onward to the questions!

1. Much talk has been made about Ichigo's intentions in SS. Much talk has been made about how he uses the dreaded 'debt' word in referring to his determination in saving Rukia. Now what do you honestly think? Do you truly believe that Ichigo was only there for a debt? Do you believe that the word 'debt' itself can have a deep connotation and significance with respect to Ichigo's actions in SS? If so, please feel free to quote from the manga.

2. I do not honestly think that a comparison has been made, solely with Ichigo's intentions in SS and his intentions in HM: before he left, during and after. For all cross purposes we will not deal with post SS, because post HM hasn't happened yet in the manga. So please feel free to compare Ichigo's intentions and feelings right before, and through both the rescue missions. Do you feel they are the same? Why or why not?

1. Much talk has been made about Ichigo's intentions in SS. Much talk has been made about how he uses the dreaded 'debt' word in referring to his determination in saving Rukia. Now what do you honestly think? Do you truly believe that Ichigo was only there for a debt? Do you believe that the word 'debt' itself can have a deep connotation and significance with respect to Ichigo's actions in SS? If so, please feel free to quote from the manga.

I think he hasn't gone to SS to pay Rukia a debt, in the begining. On chapter 57, Urahara tells him that there's a way to save her, if Ichigo truly desires to save Rukia: 'A Strong will is stronger than steel. If your determination is anything less than whole-hearted throw it away. Can you be seriously determined to fight?' With this I think Urahara wasn't refering to Ichigo's debt or anything. And the way Ichigo's eye looked when Urahara told him there could be a way to save Rukia, it didn't look to me that he was thinking of paying her a debt. Then, in the end of the chapter when his hope has returned he 'feels as if the rain has stopped...'
But we can also see that debt thing when he talks with Hanatarou in chapter 94. Hanatarou told him Rukia was very sad because she thought she has made Ichigo suffer a lot of pain and that she could never make it up to him. Then he says that those are his lines and that he won't let her die no matter what. Debt thing again, they think they have destroyed each others life by meeting. The story of destiny begins because of their meeting, of course things have to be changed and theirselves have to change.
But we can't forget that Ichigo has become stronger for Rukia, to save her. He has become a shinigami again, he has discovered his zanpakutous name, he has achieved Bankai all because of the petite woman. He really did a lot for just a 'debt'.
Okay, if we want to talk about a debt, we have to put a deep connotation and significance. It's not a simple thing of being even: you saved me once, now it's my turn. Kubo wouldn't be doing all of that 'the rain has stopped' and his growing strength just because of a simple debt thing. 'Finally the rain as stopped' - this has to mean something else than 'our debt is paid' or 'we're even'. There are feelings 'hidden' on his resolve to save her.
The question in my opinion is if he realizes his reasons to save her. And I think he realizes he's paying her a debt but something more.

2. I do not honestly think that a comparison has been made, solely with Ichigo's intentions in SS and his intentions in HM: before he left, during and after. For all cross purposes we will not deal with post SS, because post HM hasn't happened yet in the manga. So please feel free to compare Ichigo's intentions and feelings right before, and through both the rescue missions. Do you feel they are the same? Why or why not?

Before he left to HM, he wanted to save Inoue because she was their nakama. No debt, nothing more then a simple rescue thing.
Before he left to SS, he wanted to save Rukia because he wanted to repay her and because he wanted to save her. He truly wanted to save Rukia. He was determined to save her. And he didn't refer to her as a nakama, but to the one that changed his life and made him a better person.
During SS, his resolve to save Rukia has never changed and he even got stronger because of her. Okay, Ichigo is strong, strong as captains or even more, but he couldn't defeat Zaraki or Byakuya if he wasn't really 'inspired' to do it; I mean, he wanted to fight them for the solely purpose of saving Rukia.
During HM, he is always saying 'we're here to save Inoue - our nakama'. But when he fights with Grimmjow, he does it to himself and for his urge to fight (instinct), and not for Inoue's pride, like when he fought with Byakuya. Grimmjow wouldn't harm Inoue, he wasn't interested in that. But Byakuya could harm Rukia. When he thinks Karakua Town is being invaded by Aizen, he forgets about Inoue and wants to run to there and save them all. Great resolve to save her. On the other hand, he didn't rest until he was sure Rukia was safe and sound.

Okay, I'm sorry if this looks I am completely against Inoue, but I'm not. It's simply what I understand of what I read. I'm sorry again if I have made any mistakes relating to the subject and that if my understanding is wrong.

tsuki-chan, I agree with what you said. I think he may have done that because he wanted to pay her a debt, but definetly not only because of that and also not the you-saved-me-now-it-is-my-turn debt. He has already said it clearly, he is very thankfull to her. She changed his world. That is something extremely important to him, since she gave him the power he wanted so much, she made it possible for him to change his destiny, she introduced him to a whole new world, she made all his wishes (shown in ch00) - or at least a major part of them - come true. Even if it is a debt, it's not a simple one. It's just as deep as the bond they share. Their foundation is pretty much the same, as well. But when I think about this debt thing, it always come to my mind the world "excuse". When you guys read it, do you also have the feeling that the "I owe her" is some kind of excuse that he is not only telling others, but himself as well, as if he wanted to convince himself that it was the reason why he wanted to save Rukia so bad? It may just be my imagination, but it sounds so much like he's telling himself that to hide some other reason he has to save her, some other reason he might not even understand or accept. That urge to save her, that determination, that strength that came out of nowhere when he just thought of her... I'm not saying it's love - not at that point, I think. But some other feeling, that annoys him for not knowing what it is and he doesn't want to accept(not love, but maybe the that's the beggining of it, right? :D). As if "a lie repeated a thousand times becames truth"... (I don't know if this makes sense in English, but it makes in Portuguese xD). Have you guys ever done that? Repeat to yourself something as to convince yourself that's true... well, I know I have xDD And I think Ichigo has done that as well ;)

Ah, that reminds me of something! I was reading the brazilian version of Bleach (you know, the one they publish here) and comparing it to the English translation I read... and in English it sounds way more romantic :cry It's basically the same idea, but the way it's written... I think it's very clear on the talk Ichi has with Ganju (I'm lazy now, so I won't quote from the manga) where he says that it's not a debt like money or anything...
even Ganju notices that it is too important for Ichigo to save Rukia: he's risking his life, even after she said he shouldn't go after her.
he nearly dies after Bya stabs him, and he almost looks disappointed when he realizes he isn't dead: he doesn't want to be alive and doing nothing while Rukia is going to be executed (because of him, he believes. oh, the angst)
both of them feel guilty about what happened, and they don't think about themselves, they blame themselves.
it's not a simple debt, like, one life for the other.
he runs around yelling 'I will save Rukia, I need to, no matter what!' a hundred times...he rescues her and he expected her to go back with him.
a little too obvious.

not the same at all. the similarities: a girl is taken away, Ichi goes get her back.
however, he does not yell 'I will save Inoue no matter what! Inoue, wait for me!' not once, as far as I can recall.
as said before, he fights Grimm for personal purposes, he goes after Ulquiorra to beat him for personal purposes...
after Inoue is safe, he doesn't take her back immediately. he almost forgets about it, and Kenpachi, who isn't exactly the kindest person in the world, tells him to get her and go or smth
really, I think Kubo states the difference very clearly ^_^

What is it with this whole "debt" business? He said that to Ganju and Hanatarou, two guys that he just met. Was he supposed to go and expose his innermost thoughts to them? Especially about how he feels for the person that changed his world? I don't think so.... I mean, lets face it, Ichigo doesn't talk about feelings, not even to those closest to him, let alone strangers.
Besides, "I owe her" is a phrase that goes far deeper than that IMO. Personally, I 'owe' my parents my life; does that mean that I can ever 'repay' them? nope. It's the same here. He 'owes' her for giving him the power to crush destiny and shape it the way he wants to. He isn't trying to repay her. He just doesn't want to lose the centre of his world again, since now he does have the power to protect.
I'm not sure I made much sense but I hope so. All that cause of a single word. I don't know how english speakers interpret it, but "debt" isn't just about money or favours and whatnot(at least the way I see it, since I'm translating it). Or maybe I'm just wearing Ichiruki gogles.

I know i don't really post alot... you can tell. But i do read about every post i can and i do read the manga.

So I'm going to answer these question below and make them as short, sweet, and smiple...

While filping the manga again and taking Ichigo personilty in thought. I think he did not know in the beginning why he wanted to save her. I mean think about it 1) he's a innocent boy (refence when Yorichi was undress) 2) He's not really intune with his feeling. Those might be the best reasons for me. Through out the SS arc i think he was trying to find that reason why he wanted to save her from himself. There was always a lot of tense when it came to his feeling with Rukia and what not. He always shout or say its for a debt but that was just a excuse for the moment. I don't think he was trying to convince himself that it was a debt. But after the SS arc he found why he wanted to save her, and that he realize something about those feeling. I don't know what they're because Kubo hasn't said anything yet. But as you can tell it was a bittersweet parting but the promise to see each other again. And thats all i can really say.
