Bleach 323

Continues from the last chapter Kira simply said, “Iron wings? That is a strong name. But wings are just wings.” He then threw his sword up in the air and used Hadou #53 Tenrun which created a windy storm. Arivama lost his balance but managed to stop the storm. Once he turned back to Kira he already broke into a building. Arivama used his features as bullets and shoot them into the building. Kia ran out of a building and destroyed the poles on the street as shields. He realized that the features could re grow. Arivama yelled he wouldn’t let Kira do whatever he’s planning then scratched his chest to draw blood. Suddenly another set of wings appeared on his back. He flew and used his left wing to hit Kira.

Arivama was surprised to see saw Kira laying down on the same spot he had attacked. When Arivama was getting smug over it Kira thanked him.

“You’re a long-range fighter. I was thinking how could I lure you to be near me...my zampakutou couldn’t affect the distanced objects.” Arivama was about to yell how could a weird looking sword do anything when his body fell.

His left wing is pulling him down until the floor break and he fell down to another floor. Kira then explained how Wabisuke could double the weight of the objects. Since Arivama’s wings are as heavy as rock, it is impossible for him fly anymore. Arivama accused Kira of cheating. Kira asked back that didn’t Arivama asked him to cheer before the fight.

“If that action is of a warrior’s then it is beyond my understanding. The 3rd division flower is Mary’s Gold. It means hopeless and it is the pride of the 3rd Division.”

“Battles are not the way to become a hero. It is not a joy that bring pleasure. Battles bring hopelessness, fear, and dark side and gruesomeness. Because of this people fears battles and choose the way to avoid them.” Kira slowly walking toward Arivama.

“I believe my Wabisuke is the best suited with the 3rd Division way of thinking out of all the zampakutous. More you cut, more you have carry the weights. Once you couldn’t carry them any longer you will bow down to the floor. As if you’re apologizing. That is Wabisuke.”

“You just asked how could a weird sword like this cut a person?” Asked Kira while rising his hand up. Arivama tried to protest when Kira simply said,

“A warrior wouldn’t beg for his life”

And he brought his blade down.

A note: There is no chapter title for this chapter. At least Drake couldn’t find it anywhere.

Looks like there will a voting for favorite zampakutou to celebrate Bleach 7th Anniversary.

The color features looks to be nothing different. Just when I think I could potentially see character who generally get the shaft in that area and the new fodder fraccion, we get Ichigo. I know he's the hero and all, but I'd like some variety. The cover is kinda that same thing as well, but you can't really get creative with the cover, especially when you're promoting a movie.

As for the chapter, so predictable. I generally don't say that, because no matter how "predictable" people say some events are, no one really predicted it. But the idea that wabisuke would play directly against Avirama's flying was pretty much the general consensus around here. The details could make this a better chapter (as they usually do), but I'm pretty dubious.

Oh well, to me the only feature of these fights I'm looking forward to is finally seeing Shuuhei's shikai. Maybe we'll get it in a week (or two :sweat).

The cover looks a little blah to me but I can't see it very well--maybe I'm already getting tired of that "unhappy Rukia" face. She looks pretty, though.
Movie promos keep showing me her and Ichigo looking so angsty. :(

COLOR PAGE--GORGEOUS. Ichigo looks butch and troubled all at once--and I love his Hollow decoration there. It's really a nice drawing--I love it. I was hoping for more characters but this is apropos. Ichigo! Wonder how long it will be before the story gets back to him. Ulqui's had enough time to shiskabob him three ways by now.

Well, despite how pointless and predictable all those fights are (I am already start to not wanting Oomaeda to have his own 1-1 anymore, even if it makes him look badass), I have to say this chapter can be good due to Kira showing a different view about the battles.
Usually, we only get the view o the bloodlust characters in this subject (normally, the 11th Division), so it is good to see another view (in this case, opposite).

And I actually liked Kira reading the summary. I can't stop thinking his speach is like a slap in the face of the 11th division (and Avirama is exactly like them... but cute <3).

So, Águila = weaker Golondrina + Santa Teresa? :D ok, I think he will look great with 2 pairs of wings.

Happy Seventh Anniversary Jump. The cover with the weird-angled Ichigo and the poopy-faced Rukia is growing on me. It's awfully soon for a movie tie-in cover but I guess that's what it is. I expect they'll be another in December. I just wish Rukia were cheerier--the pose is almost identical to a chapter spread they had once in SS with Rukia being damsel in distress.

On the other hand, I'm loving the Ichigo color page more. He looks ominous. That skull over his heart is just whispering Shirosaki to me.

I think I'm going to really get into this chapter. I just love learning about what all the various squads stand for, so I'm eating up Kira's little speech with a spoon! :) Up till now, I had a certain disdain for Squad Three, thanks in part to Gin, but I've got a new respect for it now. Good job, KT, as always! :thumbs

Another thing that I'm happy about -- no wasted time on these side-fights. They have to get done, obviously; the fraccion were introduced, so they've got to be dealt with, but KT seems to recognize that devoting about 2 chappies per "dragon" is all that's needed.

I just have a question -- where have all the hollow holes gone? None on Coolhorn (http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/322/02/), nor on Findor (http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/322/11/), and I can't see any on Abirama (http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/322/18/). I was totally buying the theory that the more evolved the arrancar, the smaller/less distinguishable the hollow hole, but that doesn't fit (Ulquiorra has one, after all). And Abirama seems even less evolved than Coolhorn, not to mention he's kind of a birdbrain (<--ooh, a pun! Funny, right? No? Ah well, I'll try harder:rolleyes: )

I guess I'm saying I just miss hollows looking like hollows. :(

Even with suspension of disbelief at its maximum level... I'm having an increasingly hard time swallowing the incredible luck all the shinigami (captains as well as lieutenants) have had with running into the one exact arrancar against whom their abilities and expertise is the most effective. >.<

I see the zanpakuto poll results being fairly close to the pop poll results. Obviously, there will be differences with the non-shinigami characters not being eligible, but I wouldn't be surprised if the top 3 stay the same. Personally, I'd vote for Mayuri at this point, but I'd have to wait for Shuuhei's (then still probably vote for Mayuri's :-_-)

They were around the oldest. 11-99 were given numbers based on the order they were born. This would make you assume that as time went on, the quality of fraccion generally went up as Aizen was able to recruit more Hollows and things of that nature. That being said, while the number does represent age, I think there could be a chance that the younger fraccion may have a chance at being stronger than the older fraccion.

At this point though, Kubo has totally dropped the idea of the Arrancar # other than the Espada since it is meaningless.

Also, Kubo has totally forgotten about the Hollow hole. Check out Findor, who still has an excuse for not having a hole, and then Coolhorn and Abirama. Nell and Szayel don't have holes either. I would say there could be a purpose to this, like Nell maybe filling her hole with love if she was the only one, but at this point there are just too many inconsistencies for me to assume that this isn't anything but carelessness.

Man, after everything, I am pretty sure the same would have happened to Avirama and Cuuhlhourne if Kira and Yumichika had released as fast as Rukia did.
They just got luck that their enemies for one reason or another decided didn't released just after the fights began, or they would be defeated long before they could do anything :/


At first I was pretty angry how all the Sexta Fracción were killed, but now I am happy. As time goes by, the Números are becoming more and more fodder.
If Jalibell's Fracción wait too long to fight, I bet Ganjuu will be able take the 3 of them at the same time :D

But is still better than the anime, where Rukia and Ashido oneshoted Gillians and Adjuchas with sealed swords like they were just regulars Hollow.

Thank for the spoilers everyone. I bet some days Kubo mentally kicks himself for making it take so long for normal characters to make any kind of power progression. Then we get powerups that consist of putting both hands on your sword and chapters like these were we don't get anything at all. It's good that Kubo realizes that is exactly the situation and won't drag it out. One chapter fights = good. Izuru looked cool and got cool lines, so it's all good. Another cool chapter.

Exactly Shdo. I know once I start something, be it a manga, book or tv show, I have to see how it ends if I care at all about the characters.

Although I think we all saw the whole steel feathers/Wabisuke thing a mile away, it was still satisfying to see a harder side to Kira, who can sometimes come off as a bit of a wuss (I said SOMEtimes!). His whole explanation about war was epic. Also, it was cool to see some more kido, which we don't see nearly enough of in my opinion.

Now we're on to the Hisagi and Ikkaku fights! I'm not so sure that Ikkaku will win this time. I'm not basing that on any particular observation, I'm just thinking that it's about time for some good guys to start dying. And Hisagi's fight is sure to be good, as we'll finally get to see his zanpakuto.

I've just read the chapter, and while my complaint from earlier still stands strong I will say this much for it:

Thank you, Kira! It's about time SOMEONE realized that these weren't (supposedly) a bunch of exhibition matches, but, in fact, a WAR.

It's ridiculous how this battle starts with everyone standing in a gentlemanly fashion, waiting for one-on-one duels to pass, then couple this with the fact that some of the shinigami care more about foolish pride and saving face than they do keeping their life and defending their piller (*cough* yumichika *cough.*)

his response to the question "Is this how a warrior should fight?" was dead-on. They're not fighting for honor or pride. They're fighing to win, which means anything they do to secure that victory is correct. It's like Roy Mustang said in FMA: "In war, there's no such thing as a 'cheap shot'"

*laughing* Let the wild imaginings begin! Gin isn't evil, he's fickle... Gin is actually a rampaging pacifist, devoted to staying with Aizen until he's shown his old taichou the error of his ways... Gin's secretly working for the King of SS, and has been since he was a child (the slaying of his fellow Shinigami at that time was merely a ruse to gain Aizen's trust -- the dead guy got better :smug).

Or, it could be that Third Division and Gin were simply a bad fit. ;)


On another note, did Kira activate his Shikai without calling its name, or did I miss it? I thought the ability to silently achieve Shikai was indicative that that Shinigami had reached the level of Bankai. At least, that was what Byakuya hinted at in chapter 140, "Bite At The Moon", IIRC.

I did like his speech about war though--even though it was rather, well, obvious. War+chaos=both sides are not having a great day.

Still, good chapter...I loved the explanation of the Third Division's philosophy, but I feel it can be applied to Gin without having to assume he might be good (even though that's a theory I wish would happen because it'd be fun >.>). Bringing an end to the war by making enemies bow their head, as Kira said, can also be done by backstabbing/being damn sneaky (Urahara anyone?), and Gin could end up being harmful yet at the same time useful for both sides...for the sake of ending the war.

But eh, late night theories usually turn to senseless ramble...so I end here.

For one, I like seeing Kira decapitating people with Wabisuke. Not because I'm an S -_- But because it would be a waste not to, as the zanpakutou's design was specifically for that ability. I mean, if you give your character a head-chopping device, there's got to be some head-chopping. Of course, he couldn't have done it to Hinamori or Rangiku, so poor fraccion gets the cut instead.

I wonder if Kira gets into arguments with the 11th division often... wait, when Renji was in 11th division, maybe they had arguments on that that leads to sparring sessions with Hinamori scolding the two of them? *imagination wanders*

Abirama's fate was pretty much sealed when we found out about the release, but still this actually was surprisingly interesting for a chapter.

I liked Kira's philosophy on war and battles, it's a real nice counterpoint (and the utter truth) to the "I love battle" nonsense coming out of so many of the other characters mouths. It's refreshing to see him cut through that crud. It's kind of funny. The Privaron Espada of all the Arrancar seemed to have grasped the real nature of war. Cirucchi and Dordonni got it at least.

@ smacharia8 - Lol I was wondering the same. He's still got hierro so it could take a little sawing action to get through . . . hmmm that's a little too gruesome.

Well this was a pretty awesome chapter, better than I expected....man for some reason I think not getting spoilers early anymore helps with it as well. Anyway I think Kira was pretty cool with his Darkness, and Despair speech concluding with Abirama's decapitation:D.

The color pages. Kira's adaptability. The environment's prominent role. Kira stepping on Abirama's childish view of battle. The use of Wabisuke as a guillotine. The chapter feeling whole, thanks to the great pacing. It's been a while since Kubo did so many things right in one chapter.

Yes, the speech was tacky. But I see it as a ray of hope. Kubo may be foreshadowing that the War won't be treated like a runthrough of Street Fighter anymore. And to be honest, I got used to the speeches being corny as shit years ago--they haven't moved me since Volume 11 or so. Plus it's not like this is the only shonen series you see it in. :p

This is my favorite post-Gaiden chapter so far.

This chapter was ok, I liked Abirama's color scheme. He sort of reminded me of Vincent from Ergo Proxy with that color scheme. Still, I like his design, he deffinately has an Aztec eagle look. Frankly this is a really well done chapter. If it had been a stand alone everyone would be happy. It was action packed yet had an interesting dose of philosophy, it let us know a little more about a character that everyone has been wondering about and the art was superb as always. It major problem is, as many other people have stated, there's no suspense. We all know who's going to win. On the other hand, everyone would freak out if KT killed one of these VCs - so wadda ya want him to do?

It's true though, some shinigami need to lose once in a while.

I think Shuuhei will be saved for last, for the simple fact that he's the one we know least about, so the anticipation will be built up. I think Ikkaku will be the next one up.

This is an interesting chapter though. Its nice to get a little background on Kira's Zanpakuto and why it is how it is since all Zanpakuto seem to be a reflection of a users personality.

The hybirds of high birds are definitely in the question, but it reaches the point where Szayel Aporro's return much more epic than it may seem. Fraccions are basically vice-captains and/or lieutenants; they are pretty much the same as Shinigami but everything is reflected released (white, relfect colours) where Shinigami are inverted release (black, absorbs colour). :devil

For me, the only part that was remotely interesting was the short Kira speech. It was... different. KT's no longer spouting the "Nakama Will Save The World If Only We Believe" stuff, and starting to get a tad realistic. Now, if he would only go the distance and start with the plot proper again, that would be nice. I wanna see what Aizen has up his sleeve again... Never thought I'd be saying this, but the fights are getting boring. Wanna see more. :)

LOL I fully agree with this--and Shdo's comment on victories being given on a silver plate. While I feel that Kubo did a much, much better job here than he did with Yumichika, that didn't make the fight any less of a giveaway. But like Ceria, my hope is that Kira's speech and subsequent decapitation belies a less whimsical approach to the fights. Shuuhei dying would be especially subversive to Kubo's current MO.

That's not exactly a mistake. If Aizen would have said 20 brothers and we ended up having something like a total of 10 arrancars in the whole of HM, that would be a mistake. Given there are even more than 20, in between espadas, privaron espadas and fraccions, not to mention whatever else roams the land that we don't yet know about, it's just an unrevealed guest list, meaning we know he had a gathering with 20 individuals, most likely arrancars, but we don't know who was present and who wasn't.

If Sabertooth ends up being Coolhorn's early design, then it's a mistake alright.

Miyo since the captains showed up in HM the story has been going down hill up tell then it was omg what is going to happen then its just been death after death after death :-_-

Now issue 315 was a diamond in the rough so to say with the all the bad issues I thought OMG there going to destroy the shinigami finally some vengeance. But instead we get what seems at this point to be two defeats and the kira's win made no bloody since I mean how come none of the debre hit him or he did not fall or did not get hit at all it made no since I mean he could have at least made it look like he got wounded I mean at least the coolhorn battle someone broke an arm before there plotkai win.

This issue has been about the penicale of terrible issues in my opinion. I really hope it goes up hill I mean this issue to me makes me think it hit the bottom of the mountain. This issue could have easily been a turn around epically at the end
since we knew basically nothing about Hawkman. Who is to say he could not lift the weight and was just tricking him into a false sine of security and flapped his feathers to hit him or shoot a feather upward to attack kira. That could have easily been a win for the arrancar right there more then any thing. He really does not seem like the type who would cower from what we saw.

If KT doesn't kill VC's, people complain, if KT would kill VC's, people would also complain. KT set up the matches so that VCs could show off their shikais in all glory, people complain. If KT would make matches be decided by amount of power alone, people would also complain. Bottom line, there will be people complaining, no matter what KT does. As there will be people enjoying whatever KT does.

I'm not even a Kira fan, but if I were, I would have enjoyed this chapter even more, given KT made him shine in it. The heroes are supposed to shine. And it's not like the arrancar are shown as weaklings, in terms of raw power alone, all of them are shown to be massive, if this was a punch fight, the VCs would probably be rendered mash potatoe. But it's not a punch fight, it's Bleach. And Bleach says that if your opponent is stronger than you, you can have an ability that turns the table. And if you don't, your strength of will into victory will close the gap in power. And if it doesn't, your friends will come to help you. This is Bleach. Or at least, it's how I've seen it so far, and a big part of whatever made me enjoy it so much.
