Remember that band way back when that had only a few hits and disappeared off the radar? Then one day, your favorite radio station plays the song and you find yourself tapping your foot and grooving, just in an awesome mood because you heard that song again?

Or alternatively, experienced blinding rage at hearing "MMMBOP!" again after 10 years in the grave and wanting to hunt down those blond bums and open up a keg of whoopass?

Yeah.

Post them songs here and discuss!

For me: I heard Sugar Ray on the radio today and I'd totally forgotten they existed! Credits to Sugar Ray for inspiring the thread.

"When Its Over" - Sugar Ray

i am looking for a song, i dont remember the name of the band or the name of the song. i barely remember words (and most likely will think that the song is stupid when ill find it)

it had the words hoochi mama in it, it wasnt rap, and the video had alot of people exchanging body fluids and the band were in those fluids. in the end everyone who got hit by body fluids started to behave...free? and it affected machines as well...and by body fluids i mean sweat and spit, you sick people.

..... The only one I can think of is "Hooch" by Everything but I have NEVER seen that music video.

shdo, you can try youtubing "Hoochi Mama" maybe there's luck ;)

i missed Sugar Ray as well, why have they been absent all this while? T_T

and as for an old songs that got me excited when i listened to the radio are Wonderwall by Oasis, Lift Me Up by Jars of Clay and Till I Hear It From You by Gin Blossom. There's a radio station here that often plays retro songs so i got hyped most of the time lol.

Oh man.... Gin Blossoms! I forgot about them. "Breakfast At Tiffany's" was such a good song too. What about "Counting blue Cars" - Dishwalla?

They were a one hit wonder but still, the song was so catchy and rockin' all at once. Le sigh~

What about "Fifteen Stories (Live Through This)" by Mighty Joe Plum.

Just listened to "Gangster's Paradise" by Coolio on the radio. Haven't heard that in a while. (Though oddly enough, I've heard "Amish Paradise" by Weird Al several times quite recently. :p)

A song that always makes me feel warm and fuzzy is "I Love You Always Forever" by Donna Lewis, and "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls.

Gangster's Paradise is a classic one:p. I heard Kiss From A Rose by Seal on the radio in some shop yesterday:p. That some truly is timeless! It will never ever die!

"Gangsta's Paradise", wow, everyone knows that one! Even if you don't listen to rap or hip hop, everyone knows it. Just like everyone knows "Baby Got back" by Sir Mixalot.

I like big butts and I cannot lie~

One hit wonder and the lead singer killed himself later but damn, that song is still getting rotation 10 years or so later.

It was her one hit wonder but I still love that song. <3 So popular in the 90s :p

Hahah, I remember that song! That was one of the best powerchick songs that came out from the 90's. Good song, good song!

"6 Underground" - Sneaker Pimps

Smash hit and the band asked the lead singer to leave the band afterwards. Pfft! No matter. Kelli Ali still has a hypnotic voice.

Was at a fair over the weekend watching the 'Superdogs', and one of the songs they used for the show was "Macarena" ... hated that song when it was played to death when it came out, still can't stand it now >.<''''

Other one hit wonders that came to mind :
"Mambo No.5" by Lou Bega
"Who let the dogs out" by Baha Men
"I'm too Sexy" by Right Said Fred
"Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice

The scary part is that I actually like "Ice Ice Baby" ^^'

Yeah! I was about to say the Macarena too..... I feel like bitch-slapping the singer every time.

Another song from the nineties that I still hear once in a while is the Asereje by Las Ketchup, I love this song though. <3

Live is badass. You should listen to "Lakini's Juice", "The Dolphin's Cry", and "Heaven". Very good music and an excellent choice! :)

"Who let the dogs out" by Baha Men

*groan* I had the unfortunate circumstance of going to a high school whose mascot was the Bulldogs. And we had a great athletics program so whenever any of our teams were announced, we were announced to the strains "Who let the dogs out?". Football, basketball, track, boys and girls lacrosse, you name it. And they did this right up until my senior year. :zomg

Most everyone remembers that song. Granted, even after all these years, it's still a sexy pretty song.

The video was great too, classic track.

Anyone remembers Tears for Fears? In the 80s they were pretty popular. I'm a big fan since I have the CD cover of "The Seeds of Love" as my avatar.

Wiki on Sugar Ray! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Ray)

They said that they are going to be working on a new album so we should hear something soon! It's about time! "When Its Over" is such a funky fun song. It makes me all happy and bouncy. Why can't people make music like this anymore? It's always about heartbreak or the love of your life or the club. Then again, I suppose that the times influence the music and these are some sad and angry times.

'The Bad Touch' by the Bloodhound Gang. I hear it at least once a month, and I can never decided if I love it or loathe it. Funny thing is, I can still sing half the words. That said one of my friends can sing it from beginning to end without skipping a beat.

'All The Small Things' by Blink 182, that was the song of my primary school days. God I love that song, it's still so awesome so many years later. I was shocked and dismayed to find that a girl I know had never heard this song.

'The Middle' by Jimmy Eat World. Seriously who doesn't love this song?

EDIT: Also, you say Sugar Ray, I hear 'Every Morning'. I still remember the clip for that and everything.

As a matter of fact, I can't STAND that song! My rock station Planet Radio 107.3 plays it often and damn, I just turn down the radio. And I'm tired of hearing "The Middle" in teen movies too.

As for Blink 182, I like the song "What's My Age Again?". I rock out to that whenever it comes on the radio.

And I have not heard "The Bad Touch" in a really long time. Man, that was a catchy song. It came out when I was a freshman in highschool and everyone was singing it.

Come to think of it, anyone remember "You Get What You Give" - New Radicals? They used it during the end credits of Click, that Adam Sandler movie. Damn, such a sad but good song.

That was an awesome song. They had another one, Someday We'll Know, that was pretty nice.

The radio seems to love Ironic by Alanis Morisette. I like the song but I think it needs to be retired.

My favourite Blink song is Aliens Exist, but it's not hugely popular I don't think.

Oooh! Oooh! "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Nirvana~

Though I admit, Nirvana isn't exactly forgotten, you know? My usual rock station still has about 3 or 4 of their song on a daily rotation.

Same here. The radio wont stop playing "Smells like Teen Spirit", it's the most played retro song, sometimes I wish that they will just stop :lmao I;d love to hear "The Man Who Sold The World" tho, a nice cover they've made :)

Another 90's song that I've listened to lately >.> Thank You by Alanis. Such a haunting song!

If ever there was a western song that should have been played in an anime... it's this one and they should have used it with Trigun.

"Cherub Rock" and "1979" by Smashing Pumpkins are songs I'd not heard in a very long time, I can recall listening to 1979 back when I was only 9 or so years old, I always thought of that song as a creepy Halloween tune...

Superunknown
09-28-2008, 07:22 PM
The Pumpkins are one of my favorite bands of all time. They also made it big in the 90s with "Disarm" and "Tonight, Tonight". You should buy either Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream to have a taste at the very best of 90s alt-rock.

Oh yeah, Smashing Pumpkins ! "Eva Adore" and "1979" were my favs. Ever since they separated (did they?) and form another band, I've lost track of their musics.

Saint; Vertical Horizon does need a comeback! "Everything You Want", "You're A God", "The Best I've Ever Had" >.> missed those kind of songs from them..
