why do we perceive nature as beautiful?
-an innate connection with all living things, we are a part of them after all and were all birthed in the stars originally.
-because we've been conditioned to think that way. we grow up around people telling us that nature is beautiful, so eventually we also fall to believe that.
-nature is something that man could not explain, and the combined awe and mystery of it constitutes as beautiful for us.
anymore ideas? i personally believe it is the third one.
green and lushful nature is healthy, our genes tell us that when its healthy than we can live there and prosper.
its like when you look at a cow, what you think? stake.

not all nature is green and lushful.
i find the antarctic wastelands beautiful...but i sure as hell know i wouldn't prosper there.
you find the arctic beautiful cuz they are so different and alien to your normal enviorment.
this is admiration for something new and exotic.

So basically, he's alright unless he doesn't agree with you.
And, why does it matter? Some people don't see nature as beautiful at all. I fail to see how this will ever be a debate. I can argue just about anything, but even I can't come up with a defense for any of these.

Guys, this is the Debate section, not Spammage or Social General. We expect the posts in here to have some thought and maturity to it. Smarten up or ship out.

it was a joke fyrefox, hence the high five.
why does it matter? why do a lot of these damn topics matter?
it's curiosity.
this is more in the realm of philosophy, in case you haven't noticed yet.

I don't really think its any of these, lol
I don't think it really has anything to do with conditioning. I mean a person can grow up to be told anythign is beautiful, but that doesn't mean they will think the same.
And it isn't the awe and myserty that does it for me, its the serenity
Do people in genral find swamps beautiful, no. Large cities, no. But a crystal clear lake on a early morning where the air is fresh and crisp and there isn't a sound to be heard for miles
Or climbing to the top of a mountain, and looking out for 20+ miles, not seeing anything except for the land and the sky
So amazingly relaxing, among the most beautiful sites you may ever see

serenity would fall under what i meant by awe.
awe sounds more like it is just suprising, as if it leaves you speechless from shock
I wouldn't classify it as the suprise or wonder meant or anything of the sort
anything that gives a sense of calm and peace will always seem more beautiful
its the same with people
