Wow, we got onto a new win when I wasn't looking :) The ancient legends are true; the Win starts moving faster the second Shi shows up.

So I went on a cross-country adventure across Scotland today :)

It was absolutely dead in work and, as there often is, the powers that be decided there would be a half-day lottery. I'm one of the few people that have holiday hours left in my department (I booked my summer holidays in the middle of last year, using last year's holiday allowance. In effect, I've got two more weeks of holiday allowance this year than I normally would), so I didn't have much competition and won the lottery.

So homeward I go, get my nice walk into the city centre and see a train going to Ayr (the trains I can catch to get home are usually either Ayr or Largs). I jump on the train and find myself a seat...unbeknownst to me, Scotrail have recently changed some of their scheduling so that some trains no longer stop at Paisley. In ignorance, I sat until I saw some familiar scenery from the window and got up...only for the train to fly right through the station and just carry on going.

"Oh," I said to myself (not out-loud, as I didn't want everyone to think I was schizophrenic), "I must have gotten on the wrong train....I'll get off at the next stop, and head back into Glasgow."

But on and on the train went, flying past station after station. I was starting to wonder if I had managed to get on a train heading down for England, as it was really taking a hell of a long time to get anywhere. Eventually it stopped at a place called Kilwinning and I was fortunate enough that a train bound back to Glasgow (which was stopping at Paisley on the way in), was just pulling in at the other platform.

I thought I might have to buy a new ticket, but the conductor waived it when I explained what had happened.

Anyway, an extra hour and a bit was added to my journey, and I got a nice view of some rugged Scottish countryside on my expedition into the unknown :)

Movies are not real life so if you're sick of being single the best thing to do is hit the pavement and start trying. Then you can move on to studying if you're doing something wrong or not.

So outside of the usual aspects of selectiveness of who you might want to interact or how to go on about the relationship, which I think it's predicated on everyone's personal experience and interactions, I would strongly recommend online dating locally. I guess it's a bit counter-intuitive because it is online, but in the end you will eventually need the relationship to be tangible and to avoid disappointment you want to make sure from the get go that you will be able to take it there.

All the weddings Ive been to have had some sort of food. Some were buffets and some were seated. I just think seated seems more formal, and that's what I like. Cro Cop's legs ended up pretty much screwed thanks to all his surgeries he had to go through. He couldn't really exercise his legs, and he spent three years being unable to properly do his signature kicks. Cro Crop really came from another time though...every fighter these days really needs to have a more complete game in order to compete and - as much as Cro Cop is my favourite fighter - his ground game wasn't really what it could be.

In Cro Crop's time, you got a lot of people who were stand-out strikers, or stand-out grapplers....in the modern sport (certainly in the UFC, which is just a totally different beast), you really have to be a stand-out everything. Things have moved on a little from when Cro Cop was the best fighter in the world.

Agreed. Even when I first started watching the UFC I remember things were so different than they are now and it's not like I caught on to it when it was still brand new, I've only been watching it since around '06.

Hrmm....apparently, that fight I just posted was Cro Cop's return match to MMA. It was just December last year. I thought he retired after his send off in Pride. Oh well, shows what I know.

I feel a little sorry for all the old fighters. If Cro Cop was in his twenties, then I'm sure he could adapt to the way the UFC is these days, and he would be a solid champion. Unfortunately, he's not in his twenties anymore. It's a young man's game, and he's well into the twilight years of his fighting career.

The UFC sure has come a long way from where it started; when the promoters didn't know enough about fighting to make it mandatory to wear hand protection, and it was perfectly legal to punch your opponent in the crotch. When you think of people who used to be big names, like Tank Abbot....he couldn't hold a candle to the athletes of today.
