School Days

Genre : Drama / Romance

Despite the original material already resembling an anime, there is an anime adaptation, produced by TNK, that began airing in Japan on July 3, 2007.

Makoto Ito rides the train to and from school every day. However, at the beginning of his second term, he falls in love with a beautiful girl that also rides the train. Unfortunately, she barely knows of his existence. Her name is Kotonoha Katsura, and though they attend the same school, they are not in the same class. In an attempt to catch her eye, Makoto enlists the aid of a close female friend of his: Sekai Saionji. She helps him, despite the fact that she--unbeknownst to Makoto--is in love with him. Thus the three are bound in a love triangle of life changing proportions.

Yes, it just started and is pretty good. I don't know about the rest of you, but I could see the ending from the first episode coming a mile away. She was too obvoius about that. :D

As its from a video game also hope it follows arc format with diffrent endings . The game has 24 endings hope the best three or four are used

Sometimes an anime based on a game with surprise you with it's ending. (Canvas 2 anyone?!) I don't know how well they can use ending during the story, but it should give them plenty of ideas on where to go. Sometimes though they make it to easy to guess where it goes. :D

IMO:
I... must... kill... Makoto! I vote for the "我が子へ" ending, where Makoto is stabbed, because I really dislike him.

I wonder if this will end up to be a slasher-type anime or stay with the slice of life-genre?

Makoto is blinded by love Hopefully that would take High School romances into whole a new direction I am totally for the slasher type idea . The best part of school days is wondering how the arc will end

Ep 2 is Out

Just saw the last episode. It was awesome. I knew Makoto would get it in the end, but the other person was VERY unexpected IMO...so was what Kotohana revealed.

Nice Boat

Was anyone else a little disturbed by the ending, I mean I watched the last episode out of interest after all the commotion about the ending, and I was just disturbed by the ending, this coming from someone who loved series such as Elfen Lied and Gantz. I have to admit this isn't my genre, and I didn't see the other episodes, I did read the blog posts on Random Curiosity, but god this was just sick, and really not that much fun.

Beautiful animations, the eyes were pretty, but I didn't like the story. The start was okay, but when he became a freak, the story was kinda boring...

But to say the truth, love and such are not my kind of genre. The only reason I watched the anime, was because I saw a clip of the killing part ^^" xD

the ''worst anime you watch'' thread has been deleted so i'll post here:
i didn't think school days was the worse series. i was attracted to it due to a controversy regarding the last episode. in japan, a teenager killed his parents with an axe so the final episode of school days was delayed. also on youtube, you can find all the endings of the game, some are even more gross than the one in the anime.
makoto is the kind of character you love to hate hehe

thats true...some of those were so horriable (which is funny because there are many good ones as well.

i still have the show on my comp but for some reason i dont have the time or attention to finish it.

i think there were 3 gruesome endings and 12 good endings. the dance at the festival was one of the endings in the game and was featured in the anime in episode 7 i think.

in the other thread, people said they hated it because of the ending. but you can't judge a series just by an ending. like evangelion, poor ending but excellent series and nobody is listing evangelion as the ''worst anime series''. it's the opposite actually.

exactly, the question is if you enjoyed the show itself! if during the episodes you had laughs and found the story amazing.

for example if bleach would end up with ichigo and lesbian girl together, that would upset the diffrent shipers but would that mean that the show was bad? you wont always love the ending but the ending is just a small fraction of the story.

i also read that some people hated it because they thought the main character despicable, which is fine. but the guy dies in the end, so isn't that what most people wished for?

well shdo, if you know/seen the ending, i understand why you don't want to finish it.
for bleach though, i don't think there are any endings that will satisfy everyone.

I truly understand why people hated School Days. I didnīt liked the anime too, and by this Iīm not talking about the ending.

In the end Makoto died for being selfish and ignorant, which was exactly what he was from the beginning.
In any event, it's not bad enough that Makoto has been having his way with Sekai, and that Setsuna has tentatively joined in the race, and that Kotonoha has basically promised to let him do what he likes with her. No, that's not enough for our boy Makoto...

Drama... oh the drama...

I dont think I hated an anime as much as this one...even though I dont watch too many animes.

The girls were so stupid in this anime, I hate when they make girls like that..fighting over some stupid guy like that. Its like the girls had no minds at all...

He got what he deserved in the last episode!

watched the series ..

This is my impression

The underlying theme IMO of School days in Selfishness. Everyone in the show without exception prolly is one way or another selfish.

Makato: he pretty much stated he was selfish. his selfishness backed the way from any chance of possible commitment to any of the 2 girls.
He simply chooses the girl thats "convenient" for him at the time. Kotonoha is "tiring" so he goes and find comfort in Seki, Seki is pregnant and is demanding of commitment so he goes and find comfort in Kotonoha(who is willing to forgive for his constant horniness). The fact that he has so many girls' numbers in his cellphone and he started complaining that no one is answering just shows how degenerate his selfishness had led him to become.

Seki:

Well, Seki might appear genuinely selfless at first, offering her beloved help
to match him with Kotonoha. She might appear she is doing solely for his sake alone. but that was never the case. Her intentions of helping Kotonoha were never pure in the first place. It was appeared she begged her best friends to switch places so she can sit beside him,she took the matching making thing as a chance to get closer. She goes kissing him in the first or 2nd episode only to appear later and play the "friends" cards. She presented herself as charming and easy going, its no wonder why he fell for her at first.
She keeps helping him, and when he is attracted to her she goes "we're only friends", then comes and help him again and gets all mopey when he and Kotonha share some moments. She dropped her so called "friendship" to Kotonoha at the drop of the hat when she and Makato became a steady couple.

Yes, Seiki is selfish.

Kotonoha:

Yep, she isn't any exception. The fact that she retained her image of being "Makato's girlfriend" even after seeing and witnessing his travesties and constant betrayal speaks volumes about her mental state and selfishness.
She is obviously obsessed about being "loved" or "wanted", so much to the point she is willing to let Makato off the hook despite everything he has done to her(not to forget, ignoring her outright and even rejecting her verbally). even at the end, when they met and hugged. Makato apologized but he could never even say that he loved her..he said Kotonoha I....I...and he never uttered the words..

honorable mentions:

Kato: well, the whole thing about wanting Makato to see her as a "women".good thing, Seki's pregnancy was a wakeup call and she dumped him.

I am not so sure what to say about Setsuna, lets just say her selfless devotion to Seiki caused her to to do some pretty wrong things. I wish she just just focused her energy to tell her best friend to stay away of Makato (horny bastard).Oh well..., there would be no show though if that happened.
