View Full Version : Bleach Character Rating: Rukia Kuchiki

Well she is practically the lead female of bleach. Remember this has nothing to do with how strong a character is, just how you like their overall character. I will calculate the ratings once we have 3 ratings done so far.

SO HOW MUCH DO YOU LIKE RUKIA?

She's got one of the best personalities in any anime, and the dichotomy between her professionalism and her comic relief moments is a welcome relief from the Sakuras and Bulmas of anime.

Only reason I don't give her a ten is because we really haven't seen her develop or anything...she's been pretty much the same all this time.

Shes been my fav character through the whole series and probably about 80% of the reason I still read Bleach ^^;
Props to Kubo for making such an interesting female character in a shounen manga.
Actually shes probably my favourite female anime character out of any series I've watched/read so far :D

She was a "meh" character for me for the first, oh, 200 chapters. Then she released Sodeno Shirayuki and suddenly she kicked ass.

Gave her a 9 for being emo longer than 50 chapters. :p

But of course 10/10! She's the awesomest and uniquest character ever. She's very intriguing and we've not been privy yet of her backstory which I know would be triple exciting...

Hopefully we'll see hers in the winter war.

A perfect 10!!!
Rukia love!!!
As far as female characters in shounen go, rukia is by far the most unique and all-around awesome character! She is not only significant, but absolutely vital, to Bleach. I love how rukia serves an actual purpose for our main character, instead of being the generic, "calls-his-name-desperately-while-he-fights-instead-of-actively-helping-him"
now, i dont mean to bash (i hadn't realized how misconstrued my post could be) another bleach character, i was thinking of inuyasha actually XP

YAY!!! for Rukia and chappy!

My favourite character in Bleach.

Rukia is a unique and fascinating character, especially for a shounen-style manga, which usually deal heavily in archetypes. I started reading the manga expecting by her no-nonsense attitude and manly speech that she'd end up being the butch 'tsundere' type but...she's not. While she can be oddly shy and sometimes socially and emotionally retarded at times, she's actually a really loving and just person. Oddly feminine for somebody who talks like a old geezer. XD

But oh...when she gets flaws boy, she gets flaws. She will forgive herself nothing if she thinks she's trespassed, holds her own feelings for naught and when she does admit to feeling anything, tries to dismiss her feelings as superfluous and needless.

It's been fascinating watching her counterbalance between these two sides of her personality in the manga, and I hope we get some more development on her soon as Kubo couldn't be arsed to explain her mysterious backstory/lack of name up to this point because he is a sadist.

<3 Rukia

Stop being such a hater, open up a little bit. She's a sweet, modest character with an amazing stand-up game, what's not too like? ;P I voted 6 for jokes people, she's really a 8.69 in my heart, but the option wasn't avaliable :[

My favourite Anime/Manga Character ever! :love To think I started reading Bleach cause I think Strawberry looks hot, then slam bang some seriously cool little shinigami appeared and by the time she finished showing off her chappy drawing I was a goner. 10/ 10

She´s the reason I started reading Bleach again (chapter 262; appearance of Arroniero).
I´m already getting tired of Bleach again without Rukia.

For me she´s like a breath of fresh air in shounen manga,
because there´s more to her than just being sweet, nice and cute.

4/10 Don't like her XD Well she has some good points, and a lot bad points.
Good: Small /me like small girl/, Black hair, Blue Eye :D I think she wuz prettier in the early manga Chapters.. after the big change, she became a bugeye cat-creature like the Powerpuff girls XD But it was a pleasure to color that page, when Aroniro Stabbed het, with that awesome Zanpakuto of his :D
Her character.. well I don't like that. Too.. rough, but try to be a noble.. When she's acting like a girl, she's fine..
Anyways I think she dead allready /well with Orihimes abilities nothing is certain / -now I ask all of the Rukiafanatics, to plz don't pm me, I know you hate me :P-

10/10 My all-time favorite heroine out of any manga or anime and I do love a lot of heroines. No other leading lady epitomizes the strength and the grace of Kuchiki Rukia. I loved her when she was powerless for 200 chapters and I loved her even more when she took an active role and became a fighter. She is complex, has deep flaws, but also a wonderful ability to grow and make herself into a stronger person. She is my reason to read bleach. :love

8/10

The first 2 volumes of Bleach bored me on first reading and one of the reasons is because Ichigo and Rukia as the most prominent characters then didn't appeal to me immediately. The character design was generic and so was the character interaction, I was really thinking this was another monster-of-the-week stuff.

Upon second read-through, Rukia becomes more interesting, but somehow still remains neutral-likeable to me. I would fangirl about Chad and Orihime and sometimes Ichigo, but not Rukia.

Then I read through SS arc so fast, though I love Bleach from that but Rukia, despite showing some of her most important moments, is still bubbling under my radar while I fangirl Renji, Zaraki and Yoruichi. In retrospect, some of her flaws, like self-loathing, make me relate to some things in my life that I don't enjoy being reminded of, so she was not too enjoyable as a character.

I only recently fell in love with Rukia in the Hueco Mundo arc, during the Aaroniero fight. I've always liked her many faces (cute, kickass, gentle, stern, reserved, batshit) throughout the story but the uneasiness felt as explained in the previous paragraph sort of stopped me from having her as a favourite. But it was the way she overcame her Kaien issue and her determination and empathy that finally won me over and hand over her get-out-of-jail-free card: you're still painful to see sometimes, Rukia, but it's okay and I love you (T_T)

One of the more Strongminded woman in Bleach. I'll give her a 8/10, though she's not my favourite female character (still waiting for yoruichi rating contest^^). I liked her more in the SS arc, but she's still a loved char of me.

Agmaster
07-16-2007, 02:10 PM
I like her, just not when she's in the spotlight. She's well fleshed out, realistic (as one can be in this kind of world), and has enough persona and history to interact with just about anyone. Despite this, she comes up flat unless it's dealing with Ichigo, Renji, Byakuya, and Orihime. I'm a harsh critic, so 2 out of 10. In retrospect I should have gone with four.

How short-sighted to rate a character based on her looks. When in Bleach, everyone, including Ichigo sees her as a girl and completely feminine. But that's your opinion.

I give her a big 8/10
I would have given her a 5 before but now I really like her.

First,I always loved her design:she has a unique hairstyle (seriously,I'd have never believed this kind of hairstyle could look good on a girl :D).
She is very small and fragile, which I like very much.It makes her look pretty and unlike a lot of people I have always found her very feminine. (except on the color page where she is dressed as a boy in the library -___-')

as for now,I don't only like her design but her personality. She can be pretty bossy, but she knows when to be nice (fortunately she didn't hit hime like she does with ichigo to confort her :rotflmao)and I loved how she behaves during her fight with "Aro-thing":),she was very touching...

so,I'm still not her biggest fan but I give her more love than before :D

Just wondering...but...would Rukia qualify as tsundere? I was introduced to the term rather recently, so I'm not too sure about it yet...XD
Sometimes, maybe, but generally, not really.

She is pretty difficult to categorize. Something like tsundere + "無口(look it up in the Chinese wiki if you understand Chinese, can't find the other translation: basically the quiet, pragamtic girl that's not used to human interaction)" would be more like it. She's more like Asuka + Rei (or Saber + Rin from FSN, etc.) than either one of them. Basically you can't put her in an anime stereotype (or moe) basically she'll fit many of the opposite stereotypes (you will be surprised at the greatly varying degree of lolicon people draw her with, from not at all to "that's so not right...she looks about 10+ years older").

I love her character and she's one of the primary reasons why I love this series and have continued on with it so closely. I love the complexity of her character, how she balances the abrasive side of her personality with her gentle side. I also love her strength yet there is also a relatable vulnerability about her character that draws me to her.

08-17-2007, 09:40 PM
Before, I didn't really like Rukia. I always thought she was useless, though still rather entertaining as far as interactions with other characters went, but the way she moped around in Soul Society annoyed me beyond belief.

However, after that was all explained (killing your mentor has to be some traumatizing stuff), I definitely started to appreciate her character more. Once she got her powers back, she became more of a tomboyish, badass female lead than the damsel in distress (*coughORIHIMEcough*). I like her more as a character now, and she's become my 2nd favorite female Bleach character behind Yoruichi. ...Granted, this isn't say THAT much, considering I hate most of the other female character in Bleach, but I still think Rukia's become a pretty amazing character.

After all that, I gave her a rating of 8/10.

Starwing
09-20-2007, 01:30 AM
A perfect 10/10! If she has flaws, then there's not much hope for the rest of us. *shameless, shameless worshipping*

But on a more serious note. I've rarely seen any character, be they male or female, show the same range of emotions and complexity Rukia does. She is as vulnerable as she is headstrong. She is as clueless as she is intelligent. She is as harsh as she is kind. She is as powerful as she is weak. She has shown true, unmatched courage, and we've also seen her cowardice. Heck, she's even pessimistic and optimistic in equal measures. And everything about her is spontaneous and alive and genuine. She has so many masks, but none of them are shallow or pretentious; Rukia may try to hide her own troubles, but she never, never, never pretends to be anything she isn't.

I've also never seen any character come so close to being Mary Sue, yet be so fundamentally different. Put any other female into Rukia's spot, I would label her cliche and dislike her. See... the things she DOES are often cliche, but the way she pulls them off are pure genius, and never fails to touch me. She's one of the few that can be used as such an obvious plot device (as during SS) without losing herself, in fact, she exposed more of herself during that arc than I would've thought possible.

With so many characteristics, it's a wonder Rukia has any personality left, but she has one of the strongest characters I've ever observed. So many different sides of her is melded together. Ironically, while this is what I love about her, I think this is also the part of her that throws people off.

I think a lot of people who grew to like her only recently likes only one side of her personality. And whew... Rukia has more of them than I can possibly count.

And yes, she is the one reason I love Bleach as much as I do. Otherwise, I'd still think it's a well crafted story with striking characters. But I think Kubo's genius really shows through in Rukia. She is his potential, what he is capable of creating. That, I think, is a thoroughly frightening thought.

10/10 like syn said earlier, she amazes me everytime kubo brings her into the picture. I like this character mostly for her resolve, her grace (maybe not so much around Ichigo), theres more to her then what is lead on, plus...so far she kicked 2 espada butt and slowed down Grimm..any girl whos willing to put herself before others without thinking gets my vote.

Ok, enough. This is not the manor, if there even is one, or the place for this discussion. This thread is for rating Rukia not discussing how much you do or do not like her or if she is still alive or not. Everyone is free to rate how they want and not be attacked for whatever that rating may be. No further comments about how you may or may not feel about Rukia, her current situation, or anything else that doesn't deal with rating her, are really necessary.

Ano... I gave her a 10, she's definitely among the most complex chars in manga ever. Not every char shows this variety of actions and expressions.
+ 1 point for being a bad-ass with dignity, which many ppl did never believe
before her actually pwning D-Roy...
+ 1 point for her clumsy, not-being-sociable side with her crappy drawings and bunny-love... this all complements her sense for justice, friendship and humanity.
I miss her really much, I only hope KT will come up with more awesomeness
on her side again, as he did the last time with Aaroniiro :-D. (and I really
miss Ileenka's analysis on her blog nowadays - I deeply fell for Bleach when
I read her highlighting all the delicate emo parts)

I only regret that Rukia is slowly transforming into a UFO in design, I liked
her proportions 100 chaps earlier far better...

I'd gone for 9, even though yes, she is the best female character in Bleach, being almost perfect. 'Perfect' here meaning that she is a wholesome, 3-D person, who had all the qualities one would love to have for themselves: courageous, strong, likable, seemingly-endearingly-dense at times, loyal to those she holds dear, sensitive, etc. But I'd said 'almost'. There are times when I wish Rukia wouldn't do the stuff she does, like being dense. Yup, I'd said that one of her good points is that she's dense, but it does get on my nerves at times.

So, if I were to rate, taking into consideration Rukia's flaws and all, it would be a 9.3. The 0.7 goes to her being dense, doubting her own feelings and... Well. I can't think of anymore. And why am I still not giving Rukia a 10? Uh. Well, my reasoning: If I don't give Ichigo a 10, Rukia can't get a 10, either. Ichigo would be... 9.01? 'Cause this boy had made too many mistakes already, for my to hold him in the 10-point-perfect regard.

A 10, without a shadow of doubt.

I find myself a lot like her in real life. Strong and determined, rarely showing her soft side to others.

She has been through a lot from since she was a little - growing up in one of the most violent, becoming a shinigami to escape the cruel fate and instead of a warm family she thought she'd get by being adopted by the Kuchiki family she only realized that her adoptive brother has no feelings for her whatsoever (until we get the idea on why she treated her so coldly after 179).

Also, there is whole situation with Renji, Kaien and then Ichigo. And execution. I admire her very much for being able to bear with all of this so silently. Very selfless, but still more realistic than Orihime, at least from my point of view.

Also has more personality layers - we know how different people around her infulence her, how much they mean to her, but she is not so obvious in showing what she feels to others, which makes her more interesting. She doesn't carry her heart on the platter and I LOVE that. hard to figure out sometimes.

And with some bias, she Is Byakuya's sister. :P

Now I was sure I had voted on this one... can't believe I didn't. Anyways, I'm giving her a 10, since she's the main reason I read Bleach. I could try to explain why, but some people here have already done an excellent job at that. Let's just say she's not the strongest or the funniest or the prettiest, but she's the most well-rounded character and can be appealing in many ways.

Yes, I do like her the most, even more than Ichigo. *le gasp*

Depending on how much manga u read, when u find such an original and refreshing character u appreciate them more.

i gave a 7.5/10 because.... well thats what i really felt. She cool! What makes me cringe about her is that she is deathly skinny (lol well yea i know shes already dead) but just looking at her reminds me of the noise of a twig snapping. ouch! Also the stubborn/bossiness would really aggravate me----although Ichigo sometimes deserves to be hit in the head a couple of times....not over the top though. :P overall, shes important to the manga and i love her chappy-ness :P

I'd give her a 6.5 but there isn't such rating so i rounded it up to 7.

She's alright, but not that interesting. Aside from the first 6-7 first volumes, I have to say she doesn't do much at all. In the SS arc, she's a prisonner and can't do much and in the HM arc, she got a "double KO" and is about to die. Not such a bad character but IMO, she doesn't do that much aside from pep talks and creepy drawings. She's also OVERRATED. :p

I gave her 1 (one).

I don't necessarily hate Rukia. Hate is too much, she doesn't even deserve it. Plain dislike is 'nuff. I think Rukia is toooo angsty, fairly useless (reminds me of Sakura when she was younger), and boring to quote. I dislike her.

I can't believe I haven't voted on this poll yet :headscratch ...Strange, I thought I did already :p ...Oh well *shrug*

Anyway, I gave Rukia a 10. I really like her character very much. I applaud Kubo for creating such a complex and interesting character. I have seen a lot of anime & read tons of manga. But I have never encountered a female lead like Rukia until I started reading Bleach. As much as some people might think that she's too angsty, useless, or boring , I don't find her as such at all. Her character brings so much depth to the story of Bleach, imo. She's not afraid to speak her mind, she's strong-willed, and she made the rain in Ichigo's heart disappeared. She may not have huge boobs like the other females in the story, but her overall personalities & qualities makes up for it BIG TIME! Plus, how could anyone not like her chappy drawings? They're too cute not to like :p

A nice, big, sparkling "10" from me *.* Rukia-chan should rule the world!!!

A well developed, strong and awesome character... She's like an angel without wings!!! (uhm well... she can still fly... kinda.. LoL)

Her relationship (don't get dirty thoughts on your mind poeple XD our Rukia-chan is an honourable character ^^) with Kaien and how it has made her develop her character... look at it! How can an emotion-based (I cannot say "romantic in a non-friendly way" really ^^') relationship effect a person in such a positive way?? You must have a very strong character base ( don't know if I can explain what I mean here) and Rukia definitely has it! I don't know if we're allowed to give spoilers in tags here but since that I'm not sure, I cannot go into details much for now. Let's just say, she remains strong no matter how her past with Kaien hurts her. She also carries the responsibility of what happened with Kaien very well even though nothing was her fault; she did what she had to do there without hesitating! How many of us can act like that?? Let's just say, that's one of the things what makes her unique, awesome and a goddess-like character ^^

Her logic... what can I say to that? She knows what to do and when to do a thing very well. She acts pretty coolly and her decisions are pretty fast. She can make right choices in a very short time! She never lets her emotions and feelings effect her decisions! Go girl! Your gonna change the world!!! WOOOHOOO *gets carried over here XD) (sorry guys LoL)

She knows how to make people feel better! She's an awesome friend. She's the type of a friend that lots of people want to have! A dreamy style, I'm telling you =D

Her zanpakutou is awesome!!! Sode no Shirayuki perfectly emphasizes how pure her soul is and whan an awesome power she has! I'm dying to see her zanpakutou's true form. <3<3<3

Just an idea of me: A lot of anime have a character as a symbol of purity! Ex: Sakura in TRC and CCS! Don't you think that same goes for Rukia in Bleach?? She's the symbol of purity in Bleach =D Don't you think so?? ;)

Hmmm, I love Rukia's character, but she has her traits that irk me abit...I don't like it when she yells soemtimes, I mean...it's funny when she and Ichigo are going at it, but there are sometimes when it's just her over reacting. I love her sense of selflessness, but when she offered her life to the fake Kaien, I wanted to smack her. She should have known all along that one) Kaien would never ask her to sacrifice herself to appease his death and two) her dying isn't going to improve anything! She is a capable warrior who can hold her own and has friends that care about her. Sacrificing herself so easily would have been pointless and would have hurt all those close to her.

Aside from that, Rukia is a great character, if not a bit stereotypical in some ways, but if she existed in the real world, she would be someone I could trust to watch my back and not betray me...which is not that common. She doesn't let people walk all over her and she is not afraid of those she knows are more powerful than herself, though she is more rational about chosing her battles. Very caring and has become more and more sensitive to others like with Ichigo and his mother's anniversary, Renji in the Shinigami academy, Kaien after his wife died, and Inoue when Urahara said he didn't want her to fight. She hates to be a burden and will always defend her place on the battle field when others doubt her. I think she is one of Kubo's better characters in the series and deserves an 8/10

I remember saying before I gave her a seven because she was a lukewarm character to me....I'm not sure whether to take her zanpakuto into account here.....

I would disagree that Rukia is a symbol of purity. She's definitely admirable in many ways, but one of the things I like about her is that she's still a very human character, with all the failings and foibles that any of us have. She's not perfect or angelic. That just makes me like her more.

I'd have to disagree actually...Yeah it looks pretty cool, but the question of its power comes under scrutiny for me....Its hard to tell how strong it is, we already know its weaker than Hitsugaya's, I believe they said his is the strongest ice type....The dances also seem a bit unnecessary but thats just me...If I had taken her zanpakuto into consideration I'm not sure what her rating would have been

Hitsugaya's zanpakutou being the strongest in the ice-type zanpakutou doesn't mean that Rukia's zanpakutou is weak. She defeated an espada with just her Shikai. That must mean something. Also a pure white zanpakutou means the purity of the soul! Her zanpakutou is awesome in many ways I think.
KT still has some things in his hands for Rukia I think. Let's wait and see :)

I'm going to call Hyourinmaru(SP) stronger simply because Hitsugaya has bankai and Rukia doesn't. But as of this moment Hyourinmaru has no worthy feats in Shikai to call it powerfull. Bankai is the same problem. It needed a chapter or so of recovery time just to take out Grimmjows replacement.

But to me the Zanpakutoh made her a competitor and not just someone who stands and looks. I don't like seeing people do that.

It doesnt necessarily, but it does make it hard to gauge....Hitsugaya had trouble with Luppi...If Luppi were smarter, he would have killed Hitsu before the ice regenerated, but thats a different tale......It should mean something but again its hard to gauge...Aaroneiro was a Gillian, and she killed him with a surprise headshot....Haha, by that logic Ichigo Kurosaki would be the king of all evil no?
KT has some things for everyone....It would just help is we could see certain characters weren't dead.....:hm

Her dances are unnecessary:confused:; is this flowing out of the whole "her third dance is such a convenience" because if that's the case ppl should get over it. There are a characters who have that "convenience" (and no I'm not talking about Orihime) to finish a fight. Keep in mind that she had her zanpakuto before she meet Ichigo (oh let's not get into the whole she didn't use it in her first meeting b/c things had to go that way to get the story -_-), and we are barely finding out her powers. Also, there is the fact that some see her as she was when Rukia was in SS arc and have trouble seeing her as she is now: a shinigami.

Anyways, that's my two cents.

Hitsugaya's is ice/water, Rukia's is ice/snow. So yeah, Hitsugaya's is the strongest ice/water type. Rukia's is a bit different from his.

Her dances? If this were Guilty Gear or something, I'd be calling hax. Her very first move in her skill set is a possible OHKO move! Come on! >_<;; It's as bad as I-No's stereo speaker move. >_<;;;;;;;;;;;

The fact that we are barely findign out her powers could cause problems if it is revealed that a power barrier is not true (If she passes Hitsugaya). Yes she's a Shinigami, and as such has a zanpakuto but unlike renji or Byakuya, it is much more difficult to come to a conclusion. She killed Deiroy swiftly *Mumbles* but he was a weakling according to his teammates (Who also turned out to be not so strong) then she beat a gillian Espada with a headshot while impaled on his trident....I personally can't think of a battle history with more grey areas..

EDIT: Guild: That seems kind of like a writing cop out but I guess if thats the case I have to accept it :hm..

Also Hitsugaya had some hardships even in his released form while he was fighting against Shawlong. And Shawlong wasn't even an espada. Ichigo's bankai was ineffective against GJ but Rukia's second dance was strong enough to freeze GJ to spare some time for saving Ichigo. And the regeneration of her sword... without needing any element :) that was pretty cool.

Everyone had trouble before the limit was lifted, afterwards it was pretty mucha chapter of pwnage (Except for Ikkaku who was figting with his pwoer fromt he start) and Hitsu also had a bit of trouble against Gin and Luppi, that was my point as I took them both to be ice types..If Hitsu has trouble, Rukia should be even weaker than that..Haha, I'm not gonna get into Ichigo effectiveness or lack thereof especially concerning Grimmjow...But Rukia's freeze didnt really stall for time as much as it was ineffective and slightly annoyed the catman :p Thats how I saw it, like Ichigo's getsuga against Ulqs, It distracted him for a few seconds but after all that it just tore his shirt for the fangirls :p Besides, if Rukia hadnt been there something would have happened to save Ichi. It detracts from the "Cool" when a battle ends like that to me but, meh...

Used the same criteria for Rukia as I did for Orihime, except I rounded up.

My score for Rukia was actually 7.5, but I rounded up to 8 because it doesn't allow for half-points so Rukia got a break. :)

More biased reasoning and commentary and all that stuff.

Point scale:
Yes = 1 pt
No = 0 pt
Yes and no = 0.5 pt

1. On gut level, do I like character? (1 pt)
Yes. Rukia is still my number 1 favorite heroine in Bleach. I like her even more because she is one of the few Bleach heroines whose appeal is not based on her physical allure. Rukia is who she is and that’s it.

2. Do I have an emotional (good or bad) reaction to character? (1 pt)
Yes. I have the strongest reactions for Rukia, good and bad.

3. Do I spend time discussing/justifying/ranting/thinking about character's behaviors, motivations, etc? (1 pt)
Yes, I’ve spent quite a bit of time discussing her and enjoyed it most of the time.

4. Do I care about the character's fate? (1 pt)
Yes.

5. If the character died, would I miss him or her? (1 pt)
Yes. If Rukia died, I’d be accepting but upset at her loss.

6. Whether I like character or not, is character important to story? (0.5 pt)
Yes and no. In the intro and SS arcs, Rukia was key to the story. In the HM arc, Rukia is in a supporting role so while she adds interest, she’s not the focus.

7. Whether I like character or not, is character's role in story compelling (past story, current situation, personal growth, etc)? (0.5 pt)
Yes and no. Rukia had a great past story that still has questions that need to be answered. However, I am not impressed with her presentation since her reappearance in 196 to her fight with Arroniro. That doesn’t make me a bad Rukia fan. I just think that Kubo has been as weak on Rukia’s characterization in this arc as he is with Orihime.

8. Whether I like character or not, is character playing an impact on story? (0.5 pt)
Yes and no. SS was all about Rukia. HM is all about Orihime. She’s still an impact player but not as much as before.

9. Whether I like character or not, do I feel that the character is being used well to forward the story? (0.5 pt)
Yes and no. As far as writing, pacing and art, SS just worked on many levels and Rukia benefited even if she had no badass action scenes. Still, her character and presence was used well to forward other characters and the overall story. In post-SS, I just don’t know. I like Rukia but just as with Orihime’s characterization, I feel like something is lacking.

10. Whether I like character or not, if character dropped out of the story, would the overall story be negatively impacted? (0.5 pt)
Yes and no. Fact is that any character, save Ichigo, could be dropped out of the story because as long as Ichigo is “alive” and has something to protect, the story could conceivably go on. But my personal observation is that a lot of people have dropped out of Bleach and quite a few cite the fact that Rukia is not in the story. Like her or hate her, Rukia brings an intangible energy to the story that no other female character is capable of so when she is not actively in the story, there is a spark that is missing.

I hate to admit this but this is kind of fun. Probably most likely because I should be working but if it keeps me happy at work, then it is a good thing. :p
