View Full Version : Double Arts
Double Arts (ダブルアーツ, Daburu Ātsu?) is a manga series by Naoshi Komi (直志古味, Naoshi Komi?). It began serialization in the April 7th, 2008 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump. The story begins with the female protagonist Sister Elraine Figarette (エルレイン・フィガレット, erurein figaretto?) describing a plague that has troubled her world for hundreds of years, and explaining her job as a Sister. The plague is spread by physical contact. "Sisters" are women with high resistance to the plague, who travel to treat its victims by absorbing the poison it creates (called Troi/Troy (トロイ, toroi?) ). The plague proceeds in stages through the infected, eventually causing them to become transparent and disappear, with only their clothes remaining. Sisters can slow this process but in turn speed up the progress of the plague in themselves, and can still spread the Troi by physical contact, even if it is just a strand of connected hair. However, it is non transmissible through clothing.
Later in chapter one, she meets up with the male protagonist Kiri Luchile (キリ・ルチレ, kiri ruchire?) , a normal boy with artistic skills and seems to have an immunity to the Troi virus.
New SJ series that I have found pretty fun to read. I've seen some sigs/avatars around here so I know some of you have to be reading it also. :>

Yay for making this thread, Slev. :D
I started reading Double Arts after I heard that it's done surprisingly well for a new Jump series (ranked in the top 5 for several weeks straight), and got hooked immediately. I hope it survives the year.
@Miyona: I love Sui too! Her bawling face after she lost a fight for the first time was so very LOL + Awww.

Yeah, the Heine arc was a little slow, but Chap 19 (Lesson One) was awesomesauce. The manga's name plays a direct role in it, and the humor was kickass too. Sui was so ROFL this chapter, especially her attitude towards Fallan.

Double Arts looks like a pretty promising shonen.

How the heck is it supposed to keep up with Bleach and stuff thats been out so long!
They shouldve given it a chance...at least 50 chapters or something >_>
they should make two shonen jump magazines to keep more mangas in :lmao

Exactly! is too difficult for the new manga to stay in Jump nowadays...One Piece,Bleach,Gintama,Naruto,Eyeshield(sp?) I mean c'mon!
Sket Dance is another one that is having problems and what about Psyren? is it going well?
I agree Double Arts it should have 50 more chapters...if it's going to finish at least it has to be properly :(

I haven't been following rankings - was Double Arts really doing that badly? It launched within the top 5 and seemed pretty popular.
Don't really like the way the story's cutting off, especially since they *just* invented their neato dance-based fighting style. I will definitely miss Sui and Fallen. :cry
The last chapter is out. D:
Looks like he did the best he could with 21 pages.

I really liked it, but seeing it end so abruptly was so sad, because it really was an interesting manga.:cry I loved the idea and the characters for a shounen... if only it went on further.
