For me, it´s a obvious relationship of love / hate.. You know, the more you hit, the more I like :fu Also, they look good together, because both has style :wha
both are tall :wha and I think that somewhat, Yama´s personality has something that is missed in Goku´s personality.
And Yama is always worried about Goku, though even if Goku denies, the truth is that he also worries about Yama. And maybe Yama, due to his calm personality is able to help Goku in surpassing his past. Who knows?

I think that somewhat, Yama´s personality has something that is missed in Goku´s personality.

i think that being almost always drawn together, they dont only show that there existed equal magnitude of importance to Tsuna, but also because they are complimentary. I think the chapter where Tsuna got pseudo-kidnapped said a lot. Goku asked the yakuza member to "spill it" while Yama will go "please tell me where he is". Not the exact foil, but really, when you look at it - they do compliment one another's attribute.

Yama's family was something that Goku never had [that's why he always goes to his sushi shop]; and also while Yama is someone gifted with good reflexes, Goku is the one with brains. Their friendship do begin with Tsuna, but the development doesnt depend on him. You see, while Yama could have invited anyone to his house for sushi, he almost always goes for Goku. :love

It's hardship for Goku because he was how he shaped himself, even though the biggest mentor figure was Dr Shamal. I think with his sister, it's a matter on how he wanted to depend on her. That's how i think the stability in Yamamoto's background will help Goku. After all, he did took care of her after he passed out in the chapter where Lambo got missing.

That chapter sorta tell me that there are many moments where they spent their time together behind Tsuna's back :love

I think that Yama has a good influence in Goku. I mean, you can see that he is almost able to forget his past when he is with Yama, because like I said, Yama has the warm ambience of his house in his side, and somehow, this helps a lot someone who has grew in "pain". It´s something that Goku doesn´t had in his whole life. No wonder he feels good when he goes to the sushi shop.

Rivalry love is so irresistible - as i said to Rain before, it reminded me of SasuNaru, where both claim to not acknowledge each other, deep under they are the best of friends.

However, one aspect that was different here is that the rivalry for me, seemed one-sided. Yamamoto, while effortlessly being the most talented Vongola - he unintentionally draw the attention of Goku. We can say that Goku hated him at first, but we cant say the same thing for Yama. He obviously likes him as his friend, and possibly also empathized with him. I think that he acted that way to him because how friendless Goku seemed and even in the Gamma fight, he mentioned that Tsuna told him how much of a lone wolf he seemed to be before meeting Tsuna. Too much, to the fact that it was like a painful affection to him - again, Gamma fight :cookie.

IMO, I think that there is no signs of rivalry in Yama´s side. You can make a comparison between them and you if you pay attention, you´ll see that the rivalry is almost always "started" by Goku, don´t know why though. Probably due to his wild personality - and he have good reasons to be how he is.
And then you see how his wild nature is slowly decreasing when he is near Yama. He only has that kind of reactions just to pick with him, or when they are in danger or when he knows that someone will be hurt, like in the fight against Gamma - the way Goku :yell to Yama.

I don´t know, just my 2 cents

Yamamoto has some long range techniques, but overall he is a close range fighter, which excellent offense and defense, but neiother is effective further away. Goku is a mid-range fighter who can't defend himself as easily (without hurting himself) when hes close, but he can from a distance

So their styles help to make up for the others weakness:yay

I think Goku is the one relying on tactics, and using power as his weapon; and from what i can see, Yama is not all on tactics, he's more on the reaction speed, or natural assassin instincts. Like the Squalo fight, he just devised his techniques on the spot, while Goku used the hooks to link his bombs to Belphegor. Anyhow, they work well together :D

Well, me and you are relatively new to the Reborn fandom after all :p I'm yet to memorize the panel counts and sizes..so it's alright. I'm doing my best in memorizing all the chapter they are in though :D

I dunno about Yama yelling to Goku, but from what he normally seemed to do, he had no qualms of making him :yell. Yama is a nice guy, thus you know, it seemed weird that he is particularly fond of making Goku mad. I remember this chapter where after Goku's fight with Bel, Hibari came in outta sudden and Yama was so freaking out that he's making him mad. And let's not forget that he's one who always prevents Tsuna and Goku from yelling more at people. Why oh why is he so fond of making him mad? :love That's definitely OOC for him :D

and I had read the first 100 or so chapters, and i had seen some good 8059 moments, but not too many that really really stood out as 8059 moments (but maybe it was because i hadn't though too much about 8059 before that;)). But that panel was different, and after I saw that, i thought, maybe it is panels like this one that they were referring to. xD

Well i have to say that before the Gamma fight (where are you, Rain? :yell) There was nothing much tangible in 8059 other than the constant fightings, the arguments, the USTs, the panels of them appearing together...but you know, it's little things like this that makes you think of things which may matter in their relationship.

Kinda makes me think of SasuNaru in a way because i reread the earlier chapters after the Valley of the End fight when it oozes SasuNaru to no end, and you realize that some little things do matter :D

Yama is a nice guy, thus you know, it seemed weird that he is particularly fond of making Goku mad.

And this is the big contrast between them. While Yama has always a nice word to everybody, Goku is more agressive. I think that the fact of Goku is always :yell to Yama is something that is already taken as natural for them, and to be honest I like them how they are. I think that I would find weird if they suddenly changed the way they treat each other.

For me, Goku's aggressiveness compliments Yama's good-naturedness fine, so to have them both harmonizing. Part of why i think they are cute was that because they on the surface dont seem to get along ..and yet, they actually understand each other more than they ever would like to admit :heehee

That´s why I say that they understand each other in terms of personality. One is someone who is almost always ready to burst, while the other is more pacific and they get along well with each other, even with all these differences. That´s why I think that Yama is able to help Goku with the burden of his past.

Poor Yama, not enough with having to getting yelled at, being called as someone who isnt his friend.....he had to worry about Goku as well. How did I become a 8059 fan?

The true is that I was one even before realized it!!!! XD I just loved to watch Gokudera and Yamamoto together, how Yamamoto could bring out all Gokudera's personalities, and how he could take them all (mainly the upset Gokudera's one :D!!!)...

I just came to think one day: hey... Gokudera and Yamamoto spend more time together than being with Tsuna!! and besides, I think that Gokudera might be always thankful to Tsuna and all that stuff, but... I mean.. if Tsuna tells Gokudera (in a altern universe): "Hey Gokudera-Kun... I want you to jump in front of a car, get two ribs broken and then I want you win a swim competition..." HE WOULD DO IT, FOR SURE!!! I DON'T KNOW HOW, BUT HE WOULD!!! And that's because he really apreciates him... but... if Yamamoto would ask something to Gokudera, unless Gokudera REALLY REALLY want to do it to please Yamamoto (or maybe he could be drunk... but that's not the case), he would do it... in less words: to me, 8059 is more pure than 5927...

The soft contours, which usually were hidden from view, were brazen and intense. Time was frozen, or close to it, the chasm between us closing second by slow-moving second, the smell of sweat staining the thin, lifeless air.

This is all out of pure need and nothing more.

These fake words made my heart stop. I knew the truth. I knew what this really was and the truth never had shaken me so hard. And I finally realized that we were one in each other. That we were both the same.

From the standpoint of a fanfiction writer, i could imagine that Goku will be a more tangibly fun persona to write from because of those denials. He would never ever admit that he actually liked Yama but he might wonder why would he actually spend so much time with him. Of course he would always say that it was all for Tsuna, but he would also wonder why he never actually pushed him away, and even give in towards his invitations :heehee

LOL, I dunno for others, but for me, i would say that Yamamoto's character would be harder to be on track because he is so consistent, it is easier to go OOC for him. Goku however, because he had so many dimensions in his personality, it's more effortless to understand him. Yamamoto rarely showed negative emotions, and this is how it would be a challenge to write him. And you, who had been exposed to my works would know immediately how fail i am as a comedy writer :lmao

I love how their relationship is developing ^^ At first Gokudera hated Yamamoto but as the story developed they started working better as partners. Their interaction with each other is pretty unique and they are such an opposite attract (Yamamoto is a carefree guy while Gokudera seems more arrogant). Its also very cute to know how the audience can tell that even though Gokudera acts like he hates Yamamoto, we can tell he really cares for him :XD

Unfortunetly, everybody saw in the last chapter, Yama fell knock out after crashing himself against the hidden wall... (I HATE THAT B*TCH BY DOING THAT TO YAMA!!!!! ;____; ) So, I don't think Yama will stand up again to keep fighting...

Again, I have the feeling, the one saving Yamamoto will be Lal MIrch, since she's the only one around... but I'm afraid something pretty bad will happen to her, and that will affect Yama *cofcofcofI'mafraidshe'sgoingtodiecofcof*...

What I would want to see if that's the case, maybe a deppressed and angry Yama, and when Gokudera and the others find him, Hayato will be so shocked and concerned about Yamamoto's new attitude... after some chapters, they'll fight against the other, as they discuss too, Gokudera telling him it wasn't his fault what happened and saying he wants to see the Yamamoto he knew, adnt the other yelling at him he doesn't know anything... and finally after more hits and chat, Yamamoto finally brokes down, and we'll have a pure, cute and comfort 8059 scene friendship scene...

Then you see that after Yama's speech in Gamma's fight, he was so happy to have the Goku who yells at him because he knew that he didnt really hate him. Now that you talk about it, i never noticed that. But at the same time, I think that Goku should keep yelling to Yama, because that is when their interactions are really great. Also, one of the reasons why I like this pair, is the passivity of Yama in contrast to the impulsivity of Goku. I think that they should keep their old relationship but obviously, with differences. Goku can care more about Yama, like the scene in the hospital showed us, and he can talk with him, without arguing sometimes. Doesn´t mean that they didn´t developed this kind of love/hate in the future. I bet that in the future, their relationship is more mature - cannot be like when they was 15 years, of course.
