Syzael would be royally fucked if Renji got his bankai. As of right now though, all he can do is recover reiatsu to get back to full HP shikai, and conceivably hold of Syzael for a bit longer >_> Heck they could just try getting out of the room instead of waiting for death. It's not like Renji's shikai is incapable of making huge ass holes

I've grown to love Renji so much since the HM arc. He was like a movie-star before and so popular and I resisted him but since I started getting more into the RenIshi pairing (I've been into it for three years, lol) and writing the character, I'm just in love now.

Here's a Renji plushie I got for my birthday a couple months ago. He's getting very friendly with my Ishida plushie. Isn't his little kimono cute? :)

Okay, well the contest will simply feature anybody's artwork of Renji -- NOT art they made themselves, but whatever pictures, screenshots, fan art, official art, etc. you could possibly have!!!

We'll just vote on the ONE that is the SMEXIEST, get it narrowed down, and it can be very popular to something no one has seen before. Just make sure when you enter something, you have the proper credit for it, like the artist, or that it's from a DVD cover, or it's Kubo Tite's because it's from the manga, etc... Depending on how many people plan on entering their most favorite sexy Renji pics, we'll have to have a limit on how many you can submit. Like 10 at the most, or less, if only a few people plan on submitting entries, or 5 at the most, or less, if there are many people submitting entries.

I'll draw up some official rules and post them. (One rule should be no nude Renji because those entries would all win, and it wouldn't be fair to the clothed Renji ones...:() Is it okay if we get started soon? I figure this will be easy for everyone, so we can plan on doing the voting soon, like in 2 Sundays, perhaps (Jan. 20th)?

You guys can just PM me with those links/thumbnails, and then, when voting begins, PM with your votes. Give me feedback on this and suggestions, especially about when the voting day should be!!!:D

Here are some simple rules for the Nose-Bleed 2008 Contest:

1. Each member can submit up to FIVE maximum Renji pictures, or less. (This is to keep down the number of entries and make it easier to vote for the winner.)

2. The pictures can be any sort of artwork, professional, fan art, manga, doujinshi, screen captures, DVD covers, CD jacket artwork, etc. from anywhere in the world. Please include your own artwork, if you wish!

3. VERY IMPORTANT! Each submission MUST be properly credited. If it's from a fan artist, that person needs to be named specifically and where their artwork originated, if possible (ex: deviantART.com). If an entry is not credited and its origin is never identified, then it will be omitted from the contest. If a submission is from the anime or manga, then give episode numbers and chapters for reference.

4. No nude or obscene Renji pictures, please. Such images would, obviously, win over clothed Renji images, so any nude Renji artwork will be omitted for fairness. Partially clothed Renji is acceptable, provided the exposed parts of him are not private parts of his body.

5. NO SHIPPING/ROMANTIC PICTURES. Renji can be in the artwork with other characters, but any romantic insinuation between him and any other character(s) in the picture will be omitted from the contest. Although we thought he was a bad guy and were a little reserved in our thoughts about him, there was an undeniably something about him that made us think 'hm, not bad..." hehe...I don't mean to be mean, but up to now, I only thought Ichigo was the most *ahem*...yeah.

Anyhhhooo, my first impression was hey, 'evil dude, but cute evil dude'...and lol, I was just recently revisiting the old eps where Renji is first introduced...such a difference from what we see in the Bount arc and in the HM arc. Alot of attitude, but as the series progresses, his defenses break considerably, and now, hes just a sweetheart (maybe cause Rukia is hanging around him alot more XD)

That is an interesting look at Renji though. I was very angry with him for how the entire situation was handled with Rukia. I know he was extremely excited about being very powerful and everything, but the way he just let Rukia go like that...

Anyways, he is redeemed himself after he began to realize his mistake and went through everything and anything to help in saving Rukia. And even now, hes extremely protective, not just to her, but to all of his friends. He was the very last one to join their group, and yet, he fit in with them so perfectly.

The resemblances to Ichigo whose name means one protector are many. Renji's name, though, meaning "second love".... does that doom him or is it an optimistic name?

Lol, I haven't read that part of the manga, but I could definitely see him being concerned so much for Ishida. He has changed quite a bit, and seems to just go into 'overprotective' mode when it concerns people he cares about.

Second love...hhmmm...quite interesting. I'm sure Kubo names his characters for reasons, but who knows...perhaps there is something of Renji that has yet to be really focused on. There may be a very good reason for his name being such, just that Kubo hasn't really taken the time to really go into it. Or it may be his relationship to Rukia? He is, after all, another very important person in her life.

Character Description
Contrasting with Captain Kuchiki, he is a passionate vice-captain who places emotion above all matters. Though he is of low birth, having grown up in Rukongai, he values friendship well and has a brotherly disposition. He and Kuchiki Rukia are related as childhood friends.

Special Information (Top Secret)
His previous goggles has been damaged completely, but he could not afford to buy the latest model. Hence, he is using a hand towel as replacement currently. Nevertheless, he does not cease browsing for the newest model of goggles. His future dream is to wear a pair of goggles that is designed by himself. He likes futsal, and spends quite a bit of effort to assemble a team in the 6th division. The members are: Renji, Rikichi, 4th seat, 8th seat, 13th seat and 20th seat (keeper).

6th division member: Rikichi
New member of the 6th division. Idolises Renji and wants to emulate him. Hence, he has a tattoo on the left side of his forehead as well. During the turmoil caused by the Ryoka, he helped and gave encouragement to the wounded Renji.

The resemblances to Ichigo whose name means one protector are many. Renji's name, though, meaning "second love".... does that doom him or is it an optimistic name?

I think it's optimistic.
"Second love" doesn't seem at all doom-laden to me - "loveless" would be that, or "lost love"
"First love" is innocent and romantic, "second love" is more mature and maybe deeper - not as dramatic, and something arrived at later and after troubles, but still good, even if not what you were looking for. "Second love" is hopeful, and something that's still to come. I think it's a really nice name :)

Apparently, Kubo-sensei has always been drawing and coloring Renji with REAL red eyebrows! :eek: It seems he has the tattoos AND the normal red eyebrows he's always had... check out this close-up from the All Colour But The Black art book:
