Well Griffith made threads for PS3 and Wii news so I might as well do one for the various new handhelds we have on the market today, mainly the DS, PSP and GBA.

Slimmer, lighter and with a decent D-pad. The redesign is long overdue and slightly underdone. There are no major revisions, but simply a series of tweaks: the Wi-Fi switch has been moved to the portable's top and the speakers are above the buttons and the D-pad. The D-pad itself does get a proper rehaul and finally feels like, well, a D-pad. It's incredibly responsive and not mushy like the current iteration. The casing gets spiffed up with a coat of DS Lite style gloss. This is a needed revision — would've been nice to see it months ago.

As for DS, currently playing Children of Mana.

The new PSP doesn't look all the much different from the old one. Maybe you can tell more of a difference if you were to actually hold both at the same time. But it definitely does look like Sony took a cue from Nintendo there.

Kotaku are reporting that due to Japanese fans of the series being up in arms over this change, SE seem to have relented in their change of direction for the series and reverted to the traditional style.

oh and I found some more details on the 'PSP Lite'.

* RAM has been doubled to 64MB, games should load faster
* The new system will support charging over USB
* The 1200mAh battery is rated at 3-6 hours, the same as the original PSP's 1800mAh battery (good news: more efficient, bad news: same overall runtime)
* Original PSP remotes will not work with the new PSP
* The fancy component AV cable will not be included (big surprise)
* The PSP Lite features a TA-085 PCB ... so, uh, yeah ...

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan held the Playstation Premiere 2007 event in Tokyo.

While most of us have already seen the new slimline PSP during E3 last week, this is the first time it was unveiled to the Japanese audience. The new unit will be released in that territory on September 20. In addition to the white, black and silver colors shown earlier, Japan will get 3 extra colors, Rose Pink, Lavender Purple and Felicia Blue.

Furthermore, Japanese gamers can get the slim PSP a week early if they decide to buy the Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: 10th Anniversary Limited bundle which comes with a special silver PSP slim unit (with translucent buttons), game software (with a variant cover) and strap with Cloud's signature Buster Sword. Only 77,777 units are produced so importers better keep an eye on this item.

I've got a DS, PSP looks really cool, but there arent really any games I'd want for it..As opposed to the DS, where I love Metroid, the upcoming zelda, animal crossing, mario cart, etc....

Mariokart is my favorite DS, hell gameboy game ever. XD So much fun, especially in multiplayer. I love Mariokart for any system though, but the DS/SP one takes me back to SNES days.

I only have a psp at the moment...and a DS lite but it's the prize for the refer a member comp so i can't touch it :3 *resists* I only really have the bleach games for psp...it looks awesome but the batteries seem to die real fast >_>

Woah some of these threads are pretty dead some need reviving.

Why you selling your DS are you mad theres like a billion different games for it1??? So much my gamestore has a whole shelf dedicated to it. Wish the Wii section would take a leaf out of the DS book.

Haven't played on the PSP for ages have been busy with the DS and Wii at the minute turning into a right Nintendo shipper lolz.

Pokemon was really boring i found this time round I guess since i remember getting red and playing that til i got like all 150 pokemon as well with Yellow, silver and gold has killed the game series for me. I got it when it first came out with it but I sold it. Can't believe how much i used to love that Series and now i have like none. Very strange to think its still going though and people still love to play on it.

Don't let Pokemon kill the DS for you. I've had a few games that have been dreadful but if you have a Local Gamestation you can forever trade them in. Same with Game but am not fond of trading in with them. Just do that for a while I mean you lose a few £ but thats just like rental price if you think about it.

Anywho I have each one, though I'm not sure where my GameBoy is =/

I love my PSP though, the one thing that I will not borrow out. I own a few games for it, but that's all I need really...Silent Hill 0rigins has kept me entertained since I got it, and probably will do so for a while yet. The one thing that I do not like though, are the memory sticks. They cost to much =/.
I don't have enough money to get new games let alone a bigger memory stick...I have a very small one, not sure on the size though.
I hope to get Crisis Core for my PSP...

My DS Lite is loved as well, though since I beat Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, I haven't really bothered to pick it up.
