I haven't read the manga, but I'm currently up to episode 54 in the anime. ^_^ It's definitely one of the best if not THE best series I've ever seen. Once I catch up on the anime (ugh, who knows how long that will take?!) I'm going to download the manga.

Question: Are the anime fillers worth watching? I think I've just hit a filler arc, and I'm thinking about skipping it completely after the horror I went through thanks to Bleach fillers...

The only OP filler arc worth watching is G8 Steel Fortress, which are eps in the late 190's and early 200's. Skip all the other filler arcs.

OP filler arcs are much more bearable than most. They own Bleach and Naruto fillers easily...but it still doesnt mean they are worth watching when you can go straight to the real story that makes OP great.

Who's your favourite OP char?

Mine is Zoro. A Lazy swordsman who's sleeping most of the time and doing nothing, but when it comes to fights, he's the man. I enjoyed his fights the most, maybe because his Fighting Art (Sword) involved the most acion and heaviest wounds.

I think the first filler arc is the one with Apis and the thousand year dragon or whatever...I got tired of that one reallll quick, I just couldn't stand the little girl saying "Ryuuzaki!" every 10 seconds...

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I already couldn't stand her five minutes in. I thought maybe something was wrong with me. :p I'm definitely skipping it.

My favorite character is Sanji, but I love them all. ^__^ Zoro, Luffy, Nami, Usopp, all of them.

I'm reading only the chapters atm, because the Anime is really really slow paced and boring.

It's like

2:30 minutes Opening
2 minute Gold Roger Intro
5 minutes Flashback from the Last ep and

So there's not much left for the original episode, and they're still stretching it out to the limits.

I was downloading the anime RAWs up until Lucci was beaten for AMV material.

Manga will always be the best option. What we are reading right now will take over a year or so to be animated and I sure as hell am not waiting that long for the story I could have now.

Has someone seen the 8th movie already? I think it's okay, some of the fight scenes were polished and added. Especiall the Luffy Fight was great done. But i hope that the next movie will have an own story again.

Apparently the 8th movie was crap. Like...unless you've seen the Arabasta arc you have absolutely no chance of understanding it. The two things that were well done are apparently Pell's explosion and the Crocodile's finisher. The trailers for the fights look cool...but Ive heard they dont last long.

Anyway I want to see it. Ill dl it first sign of a raw.

My favourites characters are Chopper & Usopp, when they're together they're so funny. I love the way chopper trusts all usopp's lies XD

So toda's question will be: Which Arc did you enjoy the most?

For me that's the Arlong Arc. It's short but just great. It features for the first time the 1vs1 showdowns and with the Nami Story there's a nice Plot around.

Arabasta arc. Is the gold of OP amongst the other gold. Zoro vs Mr 1 and Luffy vs Croc are the best fights of the series. Also featured the first Nami fight and the first time to take Usopp seriously.

Well they dont have a reason to prolong them like Naruto and Bleach because the story is way ahead in the manga and if needed they could do another filler arc after Thriller Bark.

It's not that far away as you think. I think about 20-25 chapters only, but and thats a big BUT, they aren't consuming those chapters like sandwichs. That's the difference between OP and Bleach Anime. The first can continue with 20 chaps ahead, and the others stop at a 50 chapter difference.

Thats because theres nothing in Bleach chapters. I mean Bleach and OP are the same amount of pages, but you just get so much more out of OP. Take for example when Yubashiri was destroyed. The sequence only occupied two frames of manga and there were five other frames on the page. Now if something like that were to happen in Bleach it would take up at least a whole page. Then you would need another page of reaction shots and the character being emo about it. Suddenly you have two pages compared to two frames. Both of which would run for the same amount of time when converted into anime.

I read the manga first...theres lots of moments in the anime that get kinda screwed and arnt nearly as good as the manga. Plus its faster to read than watch =D

Haha actually most of what Im referring to is comedy. A good example would be the famous Usopp/Rooster incident from Enies Lobby. Absolutly priceless in the manga, but the way the anime set it out wasnt too good.

The comedy has a lot to do with using frames that can move instantly from one to another. The anime likes to connect the frames to set out a flow using (one might say) filler material that lessens the impact of a lot of the jokes.

The only thing I say is funnier in the anime is the end of the Foxy fight when he hit himself with the Noro Noro xD!!!

Kaizoku are without a doubt the best, but you will probably reach a point where they havent subbed around 50-100 episodes. Then it will become difficult to track subs as lately OP subbing has passed from group to group.

You can also watch pretty much all of the episodes (subbed by Kaizoku also) on Veoh (http://www.veoh.com), which is kind of like YouTube but better because of the quality and because they don't delete anime. :p Just search for one piece # or one piece episode # if the first one doesn't work. (Replace # with the episode number, of couse.)

Luffy and Moria started their fight ze spoiler for 463 says. Apparantly Moria can actually fight. They are about even atm.

Sanji also started his fight with Absolam. Nothing on the rest of the crew =p

Its called "Episode of the Island of Perpetual Winter"

Its a remake of the Drum island arc -_-

What's up with the remakes for the last two OP movies -_- Maybe they've run out of ideas atm and are waiting to release a grand finale later on.. Hmmm I'd like to think that. :D

Drum wasnt a bad arc. Hiruluk's death speech is one of the best moments in OP...but the flashback is the only thing that makes it a good arc imo.

This chapter was absolutely appetizing, don't you all agree? :D I loved how Luffy literally kicked Gecko's ass. Angry Sanji fighting for Nami's love = WIN. I can't wait to see what the next chapter unveils for us xD!

Yeah Skypiea was somehow different than the other arcs, but still good. It didn't feature the Classic Team 1v1 Fights, but built up a BGM Story between the Shandians and the Godgyus (forgot name).

That's a great arc, fun fights and it has some pretty funny scenes in it.. like when Eneru figured out Luffy was rubber. Facial Expression = PRICELESS.

One year is nothing lainchan. A lot of guys i know watched all the eps in under 2 months, and that are 8 years of content. And i'm sure there are some freaks who can watch all ~300 eps in a few weeks.

Well I used to be able to do that but unfortunately my lifes to busy at the moment for anime marathons. Whats up with that!? Its the frikkin summer holidays! ;___;

Alot of people seem to dislike the Skypia ark but I loved it! It was so pirate-y and had a real adventurous feel too it. Mind you I read it all in one one go so I can imagine it may have gotten boring for people who were reading it as it came out.

My thoughts on the next chapter are I want more Zoro, Luffy, Oz and Robin. My guess is they will all get one chapter finishes with a bit of the next fight at the end though, like Sanji. Well except for Luffy.

Hmmm nah. The villans dont have that edge to them that the really great arcs have. Like Crocodile and Arlong. Moria and his freaks are more like Foxy type people, but actually strong.

I didn't think the Strawhats would have this much trouble on Thriller Bark, I thought this would just be a set up for the Merman Island arc.

Most people had in mind that the whole Florian Triangle arc (now named Thriller Bark =p) would be much like the Davy Back Fight arc. In some ways it is (the emphasis on comedy), but in other ways its very different. With a schichibukai involved you cant expect it to be wrapped up in 30 chapters or so like Davy Back.

The opening is just godly. :love And finally, Sanji with a decent voice instead of that awful Brooklyn accent. I'm definitely going to be watching this dub. :cool:
I haven't seen the whole episode yet, because I don't have the channel in which the dub airs, so thanks for sharing the link - but from the clips I've seen I can say that the dub is very good. I can't wait to hear Ace's voice (and many others', for that matter). ^^

Oh i kinda just read through it, im not up to date but yeah it has usopp telling everyone to withdrawl and oz is attacking or whatever....nami finds the zombies treasure or how to get to it, I'm not sure if Nami is in the same place as Kuma but he asks her about Luffy's brother and is still looking for Moria. Also that ghost chick shows up again, I think fights for a bit and vanishes again...erm can't really make much sense of it cos I'm not up to date and Himajin has a kind of crazy way of writing, I'm sure someone good will trans it soon at ap or somewhere xD

The original Japanese voices are so much better that any dub cannot even dream about getting close to their quality, at least in my opinion. Ace's japanese voice is love :love

Lol, I wasn't serious with the "calm down" statement; I was playing along, and I definitely knew you were joking when you used exclamation marks... :p But I also wanted to clarify what Yoshimi meant, in case she said it too vaguely.

On-topic now, will the next episode be the start of a new filler arc? I'm under that impression. I wouldn't mind that anyway, there's still the manga and the OP fillers aren't too bad, actually.

Planeswalker: I didn't mean to compare the dub to the original Japanese version. Still, I only commented the dub, and I didn't mention the original. Nama explained well what I meant. :] Of course, speaking of all anime, the original Japanese voices are usually the best, including the Japanese voices in One Piece. They are soooo good. :cool:

Just to be different I'll say that funi's voices are better than the original japanese ones:D:cool:

I'd like a few filler episodes to start soon, just because they are usually different, and i don't want there to be too many breaks inbetween the whole thriller bark arc (which may start kind of soon). I don't think a new filler arc is going to start soon, but I haven't read any new epsiode titles lately

Nothing beats the original Japanese voice actors for me. :cool: Funi's VA for Luffy did a decent job, but it will never be as good as Mayumi Tanaka.

If they are real it seems like an interesting chapter. The door door fruit and this travel travel fruit have similar abilities though, but there will have to some overlap with abilities eventually

The new opening is very nice, in my opinion. It was good to see other characters in it including the Strawhats. I don't mind the opening being a bit long too much. I think it's drawn and animated well :)

It's not only for Thriller Bark since first we'll have to survive a bunch of fillers (I think i read somewhere they'll last till 2008).

The Animation of the OP is not that bad but like already mentioned the song is not my thing. I'd rather want them to shorten the OPs back to 1:30 and to reintroduce the Endings instead. I mean who wants to watch everytime those 2:30.

The OP is o.k , and I agree that it would be great to have it back at 1:30, even 1:50 with the ending still there. Looking forward to the Ryuuma vs. Zoro fight animated, and Persona vs Ussopp XD

The new opening is ok, I'm not a big fan of it.

And even if fillers last till 08 thats only like 15 episodes:eek:, its better than having 1 or 2 canon episodes a month (and they'd still be close to the main storyline)

Avi- I don't see Oz vs Luffy happening at all:D The strawhats will beat Oz, then Luffy will destroy Moria (beacsue thats what he does:D)

その隙にチョッパーがゾロを上に飛ばし建物を斬り（大仏斬り）、切断された建物をサンジがオーズに向かって蹴ります
達磨落としの要領で

オーズは飛んでくる建物を弾き返しました

今度はウソップがカブトでフランキーをオーズに飛ばしてフランキーは至近距離から迫撃砲を放ちますがこれもかわされ
逆にフランキーは床に叩きつけられます。トドメをさそうとしたオーズ＆モリア

Summary

Chapter 475 - Forest Pirates
Front Page - Luffy is acting as a DJ. A wild boar next to him laughs (???)

Brooke brings loads of salt, but Moria remains calm.
Moria: I'm not just riding it! I'll show you the worst nightmare!
Brooke, Franky and Usopp start the attack.
Oz falters at Franky and Usopp's combination attack ("Super Size FireBird (Phoenix?) Star"), but Moria returns it in "one roar" (not clear that part).
In that chance, Chopper throws Zoro; Zoro cuts a building (Daibutsukiri) and Sanji kicks that part. It's like "darumaotoshi" (a Japanese game where you take the lower blocks without letting the upper part fall).
Oz jumps and repels the building.
Next, Usopp throws Franky using Kabuto and Franky shoots a mortar (not clear on that, but it means a strong attack) in point-blank range, but that is also dodged.
On the contrary, Franky is thrown into the ground. When Oz and Moria are about to deliver the finishing blow, Nami uses Thunderbolt Tempo.
But that also doesn't damage Oz much. Next Oz uses Gomu Gomu no Pistol. This time his arm really stretches.
Zoro: Moria...what did you do!?
SH's are in the pinch of a fierce attack.
Meanwhile
Luffy is inside a forest. A Pirate group stops him
Pirates: We are the Rolling Pirates, Captain "Marriage Proposal" Lola/Laura and the henchmen Risky brothers!! Then, will you defeat Gecko Moria!? We know the secret of Moria's ability!!! You have an outstanding power!! Please! Defeat him!!
Luffy: What are you saying? Secret? Power?

End.

She tries to seduce Luffy, proposing for the 4444th time

どうやらローラ達はルフィを待っていた様です。
ローラは影の秘密を掴んでしまった様で、一人の影をルフィのお腹にぶち込みます

It seems Laura and her crew have been waiting for Luffy.
Laura seems to the knows the secret behind the shadows, she inserts someone's shadow into Luffy stomach.

ルフィたちまち剣豪に

Luffy will be a skilled swordsman, but only temporarily.

塩で浄化される寸前の影を捕まえて、それをぶち込む事が出来る秘密です。しかも何対も
但し、元々ご主人様の所へ戻ろうとする影を体内に閉じ込めておくのは10分が限界だそうで

The secret lies within' catching a shadow right before it's purified with salt, and being able to use it. You can use many shadows. But there's a time limit of 10 minutes before the shadows return to its master(s).

でも、複数の影を入れれば入れただけパワーアップするそうです
で、ルフィに100体の影がぶち込まれました

It seems an upgraded shadow was inserted, with the power of more than 100 shadows into Luffy.

ルフィは大変な事になりました。そのまま叫んで走り去ってしまいました

Scene is Odz - Moria vs. The Strawhats

How does his arm stretch?

モリアは自在に影の形を変える事が出来るらしいです。でも、本体は影と同じ形でなければならないそうです
モリア自身の影をオーズにつけてあたかも腕を伸ばした様な状態になっとるらしいです

Moria seems to be able to manipulate shadows freely. But it seems that the host body has to be the same shape as the shadow. It seems Moria was able to transform Luffy's shadow and allow Odz to strech.

で、ナミが雷雲を作ってブルックそれに向かって特攻、ブルック感電しながらオーズに突っ込みました
その隙にゾロ以下が反撃

Nami forms a thundercloud and above, and Zoro counters from below. While Brooke thursts forward with attack on Odz stomach, he gets electrified.

最後、鬱陶しいと感じたモリアが攻撃しようとした所でロビンのハナハナで体を縛られた所で終わりです
モリアはまだ不敵な笑いをしてますが

It ends with Robin bounding Moria with her Hana Hana abilities, but Moria's undaunted by this, continuing his attack while laughing fearlessly.

Chapter 477 Spoilers, Bad week for Mugiwaras^^

Chapter 477 - 3/8
Frontpage - Usopp flying in the sky (lol)

Moria is having difficulty with Hana Hana tightly holding him. He sends shadow bats to attack Robin.
Sanji kicks the shadow bats to protect Robin. The fragments of the shadow become Moria's shadow. Robin is surprised, but uses Clutch against Moria's real body, breaking him.
However, Moria reappears behind Robin. He explains that he can switch places anytime with his shadow, therefore, the "Moria" inside Odz is just his shadow.
Then, he pushes Robin's shadow and cuts it with scissors. He keeps it on his hand because there's no corpse around.
Sanji is pissed and attacks Moria. Moria calls bats again. Sanji's kicks fail as Moria teleports back to inside Odz.
Odz is pissed and prepares to attack Robin with Gomu Gomu no Bazooka. Sanji uses Diable Jamble. He narrowly dodges the Bazooka with his kick.
Chopper unnoticed climbs up Odz's right arm. He says he found Odz's cause of death. Chopper asks them to aim at Odz's right arm, because it wasn't Odz's real arm, it was restored by Hogback's hand! It was sewn together, but there are heavy traces of frostbite. Therefore, Chopper concludes he must have died from cold. Even this monster's natural strength is no match for getting lost in a ice country and dying. Because this monster, 500 years ago...was definitely naked! (rofl - this Chopper part is very summed, but that's the gist of it)
Sanji and Zoro say they won't lose to such an idiot.
Odz grabs Chopper but he turns back into a reindeer and eats a rumble ball, then he jumps.
Sanji and Chopper use the Air Force Sakura Shoot and Chopper continues attacking. Odz says it won't work, but Chopper says it will. Odz jumps just above Chopper and Sanji. Odz uses Gomu Gomu no Pistol and takes them down.
Moria laughs and says there are only 3 left.
