Now that it is pretty much confirmed that Barack Obama will be the democratic nominee, i think its time to open the discussion for VP's.

I personally feel that Hilary wouldn't be a good choice after the stunt she pulled last night basically issuing a threat stating that she has 18 mil votes on her side. I don't like her pushing Obama for that recommendation.

So my choice for Barack Obama would be Senator Jim Webb of Virgina because of his work in the Reagen administration, as well as someone who is firm on the belief of not continuing this war in Iraq.

As for John McCain's VP selection..

I think there will be no better selection then the Governor of Louisiana Bobby Jindal. Who would balance the age gap of him and McCain, as well as bring someone to the republican side that is youthful and full of energy and inspiration to what is turning out to be a dull campaign for McCain.

What are your choices?

wouldn't/shouldn't this just go in the politics thread:p

as for VP

im not familiar with too many potential prospects, but I wouldn't be suprsied if either side picks hilary

Either McCain or Obama are likely to try to select her for their VP (it would help them beat the other one), and she did say she would consider being Obama's VP:p

I rather have it as a seperate thread it brings more action :fu

As for Hilary being VP i really don't see it since as much as many people do like her, many dislike her due to under handed tactics through out this campaign.

Not to mention if you get Hilary you get Bill :lmao

Not to mention if you get Hilary you get Bill :lmao

but if Hilary is lets say Obamas running mate i doubt too many people would choose to not vote for him just because of her

and regardless of bill's personal life, he was a fantastic president

the country hadn't been so good off in quite some time, and it hasn't even been close to that since we got good old W;)

Ideally this is how I would like it to work out.

I would like Richardson to become Obama's obvious choice for secretary of state, to me this is the ideal job for him, and I think he would make our best SoS in many years, he's certainly a MAJOR upgrade over Rice

I would like to Hillary be given a key spot in the realm of health, I don't care if this is a position in the administration, or if this means letting her be in control of the issue in the Senate, she deserves to have her key issue be given to her.

For the VP spot, I think a great choice would be Joe Biden, the senator from Delaware. The reason is that Biden represents a choice that has a TON of experience working in the senate, he's been a fighter, he knows he's way around Washington, and he has done a lot of work in the realm of foreign policy. He's also one of the Democrats that didn't cower to the president, he's been for the most part one of the key democratic bulldogs in the senate.

If it isn't Biden, then there are a number of governors that could be given a shot, including multiple women such as the governor from Arizona, Kansas, and Michigan (although I'm not sure if she would be allowed due to her being a Canadian by birth)

Spartan: Have you considered that he may not have agreed for the simple reason he's just resentful of what anybody but democrats say? Could you have some more support. You might be catching onto something.

I think Hillary as VP would be the only way to quickly sew the democratic party back together. Don't forget about the Hillary supporters. But then again, there will still be the Hillary backers that will refuse to vote for a Maoist (Obama).

I in general agree with your reasons for positions in the government, but not your ideal president as these are not ideal times for someone who has not done major work in supporting the US. But this is not the thread to talk about it.
