Just wondering if people have ever seen this series, because I thought it was pretty good myself. :D

Nodame Cantabile.

Summary:
Shinichi Chiaki is the top piano student at the Momogaoka College of Music and an excellent violinist, but Chiaki doesn't care about playing these instruments as much as he dreams of someday being a conductor. Chiaki, however, has several deeply rooted fears about traveling, and so finds himself "trapped" in Japan. Because he's trapped, Chiaki starts to question exactly how far he can possibly go in music, especially when he's passed over again and again by others he believes less worthy of musical scholarship and fame.

Recently dumped by his girlfriend for a "ham" looking fellow, passed over for a chance to go overseas, and removed from his star spot in the piano competition because he walked out on his piano instructor, Chiaki is at his limit. This is when he meets Nodame, or Megumi Noda. Nodame is a free — and filthy — spirit who reminds Chiaki that music can be fun and what drew him to be a conductor in the first place. In learning how to deal with Nodame, Chiaki learns how to deal with others. Chiaki begins to realize what is possible for him, even within the country of Japan.

For Nodame, Chiaki is everything she isn't. Clean, neat, dedicated, studious and inherently arrogant about his accomplishments and capabilities, Chiaki constantly bullies her into being more serious about life. He sees potential in her and her abilities as a pianist that she doesn't care about. She loves Chiaki and wants to be with him, but because she's not serious about her piano studies nor her personal hygiene, Chiaki always denies her affections.

Drawn together in a turbulent relationship, Chiaki's perfectionism and Nodame's untamed nature ends up complementing each other. As the story progresses, they mature as individuals, as musicians and as a couple.

This series was music to my ears. Literally. And it was funny too, seeing how many words Nodame can make up in an episode. The anime series is fairly new, although it just finished. So... anyone watch it? I wonder what people think of this.

Sounds intresting back in the day it would rival BarTender amongst Seinen audience . I will check out the live action first then proceed to watch the anime . I like live actions better ^__^

I loved the anime for its surreal comical relief and the characters are likeable... The live action didn't sit well with me when I downloaded two episodes of it; it made classical musical very enjoyable in a very fun way. Even though classical music may not be for everyone.

The live action is pretty fun, although I love the anime the best. I actually like Chiaki in the live action and anime whereas I don't like him (jerk, jerk, stuck up JERK) in the manga but I follow the manga faithfully because it's wonderful with the music--and it's a lovely, funny world of growing up. The romance isn't great--Nodame's struggles to be an artist are fascinating though.

I only read the manga, but it's one of my favourites =D it's like nothing I've ever read before <3 (though recently, Jump Square's Matsuri Special comes very close!) and I love the romance personally cuz it's not cheesy. It's mature and normal and not over-the-top-unrealistic like I see in shoujo manga ^^;;; also, I love classical music lol and especially piano <3 and of course, nodame is just ridiculously funny lol

I have to agree that this is true. It's believable. A little of the ditzy girl meets implacable guy stereotype but it really does work. I just don't like it (and the romance side stories) as much as the music stories. And Chiaki is growing on me... it's taken over a hundred chapters. :D Nodame is one of my favorite ever characters--she's adorable in the Live Action, btw.

I completely loved this show. The comedy was gold because of the characters. The ending made me happy, though the manga probably keeps going. :XD

i only watched the live action and still have to watch the anime. i heard the anime is closer to the manga but i think the live action works a bit better, you can actually see the instruments being played by the actors' double. Rach 3 on the piano is insanely hard (i tried to learn it, failed miserably hehe). second season is coming in fall, looking forward to it!!!!

The anime is worth it as the live-action... Is those Slice of Life/Comedy watch series like Genshiken on must watch list. Is not all entirely romantic comedy-shoujo stereotype either :lmao

You can't go wrong with a Tampini Alfro Drummer :D
