Has anyone been keeping up with it? Did the voices get "better"? And where exactly is the anime at this point?

Watched one episode during the first arc......hated it but at the time i saw it i'll guess it's somewhere in the SS arc more preferibly in the middle or beginning.

The newest episode is episode 40. Not sure what you mean by if they have gotten "better". Most of the voices have been just fine from the start IMO.
I don't really keep up with it. When I'm watching adult swim I'll watch it if it comes up. X3
Ichigo's voice is good, I think it fits... Ishida is tolerable at the most, Chad's is okay. But, Orihime and Rukia's voices drive me crazy! I don't think the voices suit them at all.

Most of the voices are okay IMO, but I think they ruined poor Kira, he sounds so naff and slightly gay :(, I also don't like Rukias voice and I think that they use the same voice artist for Yuzu and Karin because they sound too similar IMHO. Apart from that I don't think they have done that bad
The only voice I really didn't like was Renji's. It just sounded so... not Renji. I haven't watched any episodes that have him in it since his debut, though, so I don't know if he has gotten better or not.

The other voices are alright i guess but the one i hate is Rukia's it sounds like a man voice:mad: it's just not her and i cant focus on watching the show when i hear that voice.

i saw the end ep 40

It's alright overall, it's just that it ruins some very emotional parts.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Kon's voice yet...
Llama

Well he hardly appears. There's really no point in mentioning him. But my opinion of his dub voice is that it's just fine.

I think Gin's british voice was a pretty cool one but I still can't make myself watch the dubs D:

I think her japanese voice sounds manly too but I think that suits her. She's not really a typical girly-girl afterall. She's more tomboyish and that's what I like about her character, so I don't mind her voice. I actually think her dubbed voice sounds a lot more girly than her japanese counter-part at times.

I am eagerly awaiting tonights episode. (ep. 41) I can't wait to hear the voice of a certain 'god of flash'. XD
I have been keeping up with the dub and i like it. All the voices take some time but they are pretty good, even Renji's. At first i hated it but after his flashback episode i got used to it.
i just saw ep. 41 and Yoruichi's human voice was great.
I also prefer the japanese voices but as far as dub's go it could be much much worse.

07-15-2007, 07:40 PM
the dub and the original voices are just really different from each other :/ i dont think the dub is as much bad as it is just different sounding. well, once you get used to one, the other probably sounds "worse" to you.
Velius
07-15-2007, 11:48 PM
Zelos nailed it right on the head. Neither are really bad, it's just which one you are accustom to. There aren't really any bad dubs. That's actually very rare to come across. The Bleach dub is fine.
I was a little disappointed that Yoruichi was going to be voiced by Wendee Lee. But oh well, it's not that bad. I'm just so used to her voice from so many other shows.
One thing that bothers me about the dub is that almost every actor voices 2,3 or more charcters. Each voice may fit the character but it gets to be a little much hearing the same person voice 3+ people.

The english dub is all right. Personally, it doesn't have as much emotion as the original japanese and doesn't flow as well. At least it's not like the Naruto dub, though. The pronunciations on the english Bleach are pretty tolerable.
Velius
07-16-2007, 06:03 PM
Yea, there are plenty of english dubs that lack the original emotion, but that doesn't make OMGHORRIBLE, just maybe not on par. For bleach, the actors do their best, but sometimes they do fall short. Most of the time, it's ok on emotion and pronouncation. The worst of that I can remember was Kusajishi. Kari Wahlgren butchered that to no end. But it's not her fault really. It's the one that said it was ok for her to say it like that. :)

I don't think the dub is that bad lol, but Gin's voice for the dub is terrible in my opinion thats my only complaint
Velius
07-16-2007, 10:58 PM
I'm just glad they didn't go with a complete southern accent with Gin's voice, like they could have. That's usually what they do with any accent in dubs. At least with this english accent it conveys a lot more Gin's sneacky side.
That brings One Piece's "Robin" dub voice in the 4-Kids dub to mind.
I'm really glad the bleach dub didn't try to bring in any thick accents, they never seem to fit right.
Velius
07-16-2007, 11:11 PM
Yea, they try and make it work but it just doesn't. I'm reminded more of Osaka's dub from Azumanga. It was pure southern accent. Not even close to the original. I think Gin's is somewhat close to the orginal. Just a different take on it. I'm glad I have never watched the OP dub, especially after all the negative things I have heard about it...
heh ... funny that the dubbed version is what got me into Bleach in the first place. Until I got tired of waiting for one episode each week, and started to watch the subbed version ... what a shock it was XD
Honestly, the dubbed version was completely fine by me since I didn't have anything to compare it with. Now that I have seen both versions, the only thing that is 'different' is how the actors/actresses convey emotions. Japanese voice acting convey emotions by exaggerating tone of voice, while the English dubbed is rather monotonous :(
As Velius said, it depends on which version you're used to ... some people actually find the voice exaggeration in Japanese rather irritating.
For me, I prefer watching stuff in their original language ... but I don't have any problems with dubs either.

I don't like dub in general. They always ruin original story...well at least the few that I actually watched. Bleach dub was horrible as well (heard it for 5min and had to close it).

Episode 42 has come and gone. I liked the episode very much. There were quite a few line changes, but it all worked out the same. Yoruichi's voice is starting to sit a little better with me. I also have a new liking for Ukitake's voice. :)
The next 6 episodes are some of my favorites, second only to 54-59. Should be really good. ^.^
Saw ep 42. I'm pleased with it, are the voices are fine.
To anyone who watched it on Adult Swim- did you see the song with Orihime that played after the ep ended? It was cut off in the middle and i don't remember that song/clip from anywhere. What was it?

That was a commercial for the weekday episodes of Bleach. :D About time. Also was a very nice surprise for me too.
Thanks a bunch Velius, I'd never have guessed it was a commercial.
Velius
07-23-2007, 07:07 PM
Yea, at first I was was confused as to what was going on. Then at the end they showed the times for episodes and it all came together. About time they start having weekday showings. Bleach's popularity will increase even more now that the people who can't watch on the weekends, can now catch it on whenever during the week day.

The Bleach dub--compared to others--is actually pretty good. I really like Ichigo's voice, and I like Rukia's too. Ishida's voice fits, Chad's voice is . . . tolerable . . . I really don't like Orihime's voice though >__<
I heard from a friend, who heard from another friend, who's dad works on [adult swim], that Bleach is supposed to be canceled after the end of the SS arc, due to lack of watchers >__< I hope that changes.
Velius
07-24-2007, 07:53 PM
I really doubt that would happen for various reasons. On this weeks episode they had shown the saturday iirc, ratings and Bleach was number 1. Also, AS is the type to finish long series and continue to pump out the episodes of a series they have started.
Yeah I can't imagine AS would stop airing bleach. They can only play so many episodes of FG and Futurama a night:D
Adult Swim may skip the Bounto arc though, or just rerun the whole SS arc, but they always finish the series they start (they took a 2 year break but they still finished YuYu Hakusho)

It is pretty good..the voices are improving to me
The dub gets a lot better a lot faster if you watch more than 1 episode at a time. If you hate the voices then this is useless but if think the voices are just so-so then having more exposure will help (yes, I just answered a question that no one asked).
Velius
07-25-2007, 05:46 PM
Yea, but it's not if you hate the voices, it's if you hate dub voices. ha. I'm all for a skip of the Bount arc, but it's very unlikely.

I was plesantly surprised that one of the breakout performances for the dub was Hinamori's voice actor. She handled the Aizen's murder scene very well IMO
Shadoblak
07-28-2007, 06:17 AM
I agree about Hinamori and Aizen's death......Ichigo's voice is good too although he should be gruffer :p
other than that, i think the voices kinda suck...:(
It especially irks me that Yoruichi's voice keeps subtly changing.........
Dont know if anyone else noticed...

I noticed that too, but I sort of like the way it's changing :p Her voice sounds a little less 'unnatural' with each episode :rotflmao I do hope that it evens out soon though. :headscratch
Do you mean the human or cat voice. Yoruichi has only been voiced (in human form) in 2 episodes so far. It takes a few episodes to really get into the character.
My fav voice is Inoue's. She has the goofy side down and can pull off the serious lines. I'm pleased with almost all of the voices (Kira's hurts my ears, and Gin and most other captains voices aren't great)

I would have prefared Yuri Lowenthal to do Uryu's voice and for Gin i preferred Dave Wittenberg (did Sora from .hack//SIGN). Also I find that Byakuyas voice is a bit to deeep and I would have preferred David Kaye for his voice. But of course that's my opinion.
Velius
07-29-2007, 01:45 AM
Yea, I noticed that about Yoruichi cat's voice, but it seemed to settle for times. lol. The human voice is ok. It fits well, it's just that it is Wendee Lee who has been in like EVERY anime ever, so it's going to take a while to get used to her as Yoruichi, but it's a good fit.
Lady Scaper

I find there is no personality in the human form Yoruichi voice. The Japanese voice actor had soo much personality and lust for life. This Yoruichi seems too serious.

Episode 43 is finished. We got hear a lot more of Mayuri and Nemu. Was all pretty close to the original. As was the lines for this ep. I didn't notice any changing at all. Same good voices by the new and old. Next episode is goodie. :D
I agree with vel. This episode was good, the dubbing was right on and I didn't notice any changes in dialogue. Overall it was a great episode (and the next will be even better).

Still say Byakuya should sound like Yomi from Yu Yu hakusho though..lol

Yea, Byakuya's voice could be better. Him and Renji's got the shaft. Though Byakuya's at least fits better. Not sure who you are talking for his voice Shad. Seen very few episodes of Yu Yu hakusho. :D
Byakuya's is my least favorite, and Renji's has improved but still feels awkward. Yomi's voice would be be better for Byakuya.
vel- you should check out the YuYu dub. It's one of the best ever
Shadoblak
07-29-2007, 11:22 PM
@ Vel, thats a shame...Yomi kinda sounds like.....Eh I cant really explain it :p
YYH owns though
@Rain, YES! IT IS! I found all of the episodes uncut and I've been watching them online...I may sound like a blasphemer lol but i think its better than Bleach...
>.>
<.<
Anyway......Nobody else picture Rukia sounding like Raven from Teen Titans??
Raven sounds a little too goth, but I can totally see the actress handeling the role, although I think her dub voice is fantastic.
Yomi's voice is impossible to describe, and it was perfect for his charcter, but won't really fit any Bleach character:cry

Well not her exact voice, but a variation of it ya know? Rukia's voice is okay, just not what i expected....As for Byakuya, when reading it the only thing i heard in my head was Yomi's voice saying "Scatter. Senbonzakura"
Its because he can sound really smug and angry and never seems to lose the cool in his voice

Hey, hey that's not bad! Pretty close to the original. But all pretty close to what the dub has. It does seem a little bit more natural though. But, it's Byakuya, so yea, probably would have came out the same snobbish way anyway. lol.

Maybe its just that the voice actors havent gotten used to being the characters yet....Alot of them seem so mechanical....Like it isnt natural..eh...Whatever
Shadoblak, do you remember Kido's dub voice. Before JYB got the role for Ichigo I thought that Kido's dub VA would be perfect. JYB is great but I just feel that he doesn't have the egde that Ichigo should have

Yeah Kido would have been good!!!
But our favorite Power Ranger has the edge....He said in an interview they wouldn't let him sound gruffer, which would make him sound exactly like Ichigo :(
So now he at best sounds like angry Vash (Which is btw still good)
Going back to Yoruichi's cat voice (who also does Mayuri). It's suprisies me that the VA can do Mayuri so well, he usually does more monotone or dry personalities (like Aoshi from RK) but he can handle Mayuri and all his craziness so well. As Yoruichi's cat voice I never really payed attention, but after watching some eps over I can see the inconsistancy.
Velius
07-30-2007, 09:29 PM
Yea there was a little inconsistancy, but like you said, most of it wasn't really noticable, especially if you weren't looking for it. Mayuri's voice is pretty close to the original. Dare I say, I think it's one of my favorites. Along with Kenpachi and Ukitake, out of all the captains that it.
Shadoblak
07-30-2007, 09:41 PM

I'm almost in awe of how well Mayuri's VA can do the underlying craziness of Mayuri. Excellent casting right there.

Also dont like Shunsi's voice XD Kind pictured hima nd Ichigo's dad sounding like different variations of Naota's dad from FLCL
I'm not a fan of Shunsui's voice either, but Ichigo's dad is great. I haven't seen FLCL is along time so I can't remember the voice. Urahara does kinda sound like a surfer dude, but his voice is fine.

I agree, his voice sounds kinda depressed, i think it's just because of how deep it is.

Ukitake is one of my favorite voices so far. lol. Depressing.. yea I guess so. Maybe that's why I like it. So close to the original. LOL>

The only voice that I really wanted them to do a good job on was Hollow Ichigos voice. It doesn't sound nearly as crazy and maniacal as the original.
Yeah I hope Hollow Ichigo really amps up the crazy, it'll be fun to see if the VA does.

07-31-2007, 06:29 PM

They did go a different way with Urahara, but the overall effect is still there. It's just more emphasized on the laziness part then they mysterious part. lol.
Does anyone buy the dub DVD's. I do, and the only extra complaint I have with those is that the subtitles are somewhat wrong. We know Inoue always calls Ichigo "kurosaki-Kun" but in the subtitles it has "Ichigo", and it has this for almost every character. This isn't a big problem, but it bugs me just enough to post and complain about it:D
Velius
08-03-2007, 10:24 PM
Well, the subtitles are probably set to the dub, not the sub. Which yea, really doesn't make sense, but that's who most dvds are. I have yet to get any of the Bleach dvds. Not because I don't want to, but because it cost $$$.
Yeah, the dub DVD's are fairly expensive. The also keep falling behind the new episodes, they just released episodes 17-20:eek:
Velius
08-04-2007, 04:58 AM
Yea they will probably be behind forever. lol. I don't think they have too much incentive to rush them out. It's better to pace it and make it worh while for people. What's the point, if they get uber rushed then, then the box sets come out and people will want to buy them again. Yea, not worth it.

Wouldn't know why since Vegeta's voice actor is in Canada and not a part of this dub. Last role I heard Mayuri's voice actor in was Aoshi in Rurouni Kenshin.
I don't really think Mayuri sounds vegeta-ish (maybe a little)

I like Tousen voice. There was lots of talk back at BF how he should have been voiced by Steve Blum (spike from bebop). That would have been really killer. Also because apprently, even though we haven't heard him yet, Komamura is voiced by Beau Billingslea (jet from bebop), who will fit him perfectly and get the two back together in a major show. XD
I think tousen's voice is great, it fits very well. I hope Komamura's voice is good, well know before too long.

I don't think there were any big changes with the script. We're getting close to the climax of the SS arc, so the next few episodes should be pretty good.

i still dont like Gin's voice....
And i also rewatched the episode where yoruichi stopped Byakyua from using his sword on the bridge....I REALLY wanted her to all him"Little Byakuya"...Just ONCE! >_<
I agree with you about Gin's voice, it doesn't flow right, but it could be worse (seriously it could).
It'd be hilarious to hear little-byakuya:rotflmao
One thing I noticed, in the new episode Ishida called Sado and not Chad:eek:. In the original Ishida says Sado and the dub has Chad, so could they be trying to keep with the original a little more?
Shadoblak
08-12-2007, 06:50 PM
Well mostly Ichigo ony calls him Chad so yeah they probably are....i think in the early dub his grandad called him Chad :p
The names the dub uses vary, and it confuses me sometimes. Ishida calls Ichigo both his first and last names.
I know they use first names here instead of last names because of the audience, but other dubs have used last names and it works out fine.
Maybe I'm just being overly picky:headscratch

That is all it is really, is which one you are most used too. If you listen the japanese version constantly and have a following for it, that will be the one you are more likely to like. XD The dub voices are fine, infact good. Try not and let that crazy OMGDUBSSUCK part you take too much over.

I like the dubed voiced. They are doing really good when it comes to Bleach. At first they sound weird but after a while you get use to it. The times when they sound the weirdest is when they go on their mono logs. ut then again im not use to long mono logs in real life.

He said a few things in the scanlations too....but they all had to do with shooting someone or something and to what degree they were to be shot....Where did slay them come from?
Wasn't Gin's command also Impale him, in episode 20 (or whatever the hell that episode is). Well the manga has finally gotten it right (only took 20 volumes) so there's always hope that slay him won't stick either.
DUB episode 46 aired yesterday, and it was good. The voices are of course getting better (or I'm just getting more used to them). I didn't notice any dialogue changes and all the emotion was there, so I'm peased with it.

I'm not following the dub since i don't live in the states. But from what I've seen in some previews the dub didn't seem bad. Atleast not as bad as most of the dubs. I can't give a fair rating since I have the original voices in my mind when I watch the anime, and English is not my native language. But everyone else should support the series by watching the dub in their country and/ or buying the DVD's.
I do my best to not compare the dub to the original (in terms of voices). I just go with how I hear the voice when I read the manga, and what I feel the emotion should be.
I do buy the dub DVD's:cool:
Just FYI to those who watch the dub- There is no DUB episode on TV tonight:cry

@ Alucard: cuz some like it that way! There is nothing wrong to watch the dubbed version..imho...not that I am a fan of it but each his own, right? btw...I am also curious as what they say in the dubbed episodes...not everything is the same y'know.

Riekie
08-25-2007, 07:33 PM
Yeah, something like that;)
Like with FMA I had seen the first 7 or so episodes dubbed, but when i found the original I immediately started switching to that. Ofcourse I was used to the english voices so liked that better in the beginning...but was still curious as to what they would say in english...not that there are major differences..well sometimes...but it's fun to hear and all:D
Alucard- I think that almost all of us who watch the dub have already seen the original, so this is just a new way to watch the same episode.
To me, it is just like wacthing the anime after reading the manga (does this make sense).
Riekie- what is said in this dub is really very close the original and there are rarely any big changes. The biggest thing is the use of the names (for example, the dub uses Orihime instead of Inoue)
Riekie
08-25-2007, 08:12 PM
@ Rain: I know..this dub is very close to the original, as what I've seen that is;)

Sometimes to see the difference in the 'feel' of the episode, and the change in dialog and so forth. Also, just to re-watch it in a new way like Rain stated. (:

We have now just passed episode 47. My favorite ending of any bleach episode, period. I remember how hyped I was, after watching this, in anticipation for the next episode. This was back when I was only watching the anime. Those were some great times. :)
I was actually rather impressed at how well the voices were done in this episode of large amounts of emotional dialog. I think the one I wasn't feeling the most was Gins. But I guess that is what they are going for, given, well, Gin.
We are about a month away from the new opening and ending, of which I can not wait for and the first hour long special episode, which I wonder exactly how they are going to handle....
Akutabi
09-02-2007, 05:22 AM
Most hour specials are divided in the American broadcast.
Can't believe Momo's voice is the one that steals the show. She handles crying wonderfully
Velius
09-02-2007, 05:50 AM
Well, I guess my point was, which is something you probably only know if you have seen bleach episodes as many times as I have, that being the first hour long special wasn't timed to be used to to 30 minute parts, unlike the rest of the hour long specials that were to follow it.
If they try and "make" an ending were the 30 minute cut off point would be, with commercials of course, it will end in a very strange, middle of a sentence, type way. I'm thinking they will air the whole hour.
Nonetheless, it will be awesome. In episodes 1-51 we see a total of 1 Bankai. In episodes 52-53 we see 4 in a whole 2 episodes. Greatness.

i just watched the next episode of the dub tonight. i have to say, Hitsugaya's voice seems really different than in the Japanese version... but i also think he has more personality now xD
i agree with Akutabi about Momo's voice.

maybe thats why he sounds so different in the english dub
Velius
09-07-2007, 04:44 AM
Yes, Pan you are correct, but even then, it's more in the way it's approached with the dub. For example, Paku Romi voices both Alphonse from FMA and Hitsugaya from bleach. Listening to both voices, you can definitely hear the similarities. But in the dubs, the characters were approaced in two completely different ways, neither of which used a female voice. Not that that probably mattered much, but you can tell that Al in the FMA dub, is more like a child then Hitsu.
Episode 48 aired yesterday, overall it was good. Hitsugaya sounded fine, but for some reason it didn't feel right this episode, but it may just be me. The rest of the VA's sounded fine to me.
I'm not a fan of this episode anyway, so hopefully the next episode will be pretty good.

That sucks, and is semi-confusing. He said that it was going to canada, and so is death-note. The company he is referring to generally do VIZ work also (InuYasha) so they aren't selling the license, just moving it. I don't get it
DawnFire
09-21-2007, 03:27 PM
I'm not particularly attached to most of the english voices, I would LOVE for Renji to get a voice change and if they're moving to Canada I would love it if David Kaye could play Byakuya, but then I think JYB is perfect for Ichigo, I don't think they'll get much better than him. I like Ganju and Ukitake's VA's as well.
But I think this is a horrible move on VIZ's part. For one, if they have to do this at all they should have waited until the SS arc was finished. They only have about 10 episodes to go, why not wait until those are finished being dubbed? And fans are NOT going to be happy having to get used to a whole new cast of characters 50 episodes into the series. I think it's going to hurt Bleach (in the U.S.). So yeah, I don't get it at all!

Well Geneon laid off it's marketing staff in preparation for handing over marketing and distribution to ADV. That deal's been canceled and now Geneon has no way to advertise their products. IF Geneon goes down, a good source of jobs and income for the LA actors goes down with them.

Well, there was been no official announcment of any kind of cast replacement for bleach yet, so until there is, this is pretty much all hearsay. I don't see it happening anyways. It would be a horrible decision and Viz knows that. I do hope it is not one of those "we have no choice, or the show stops" somehow, cause then, and only then, would it not be so bad. I emailed Wally Wingert about this (I had emailed him back when the dub first started and he was really kind in his response and willing to answer my questions, so I figured I'd try asking him if he knew anything) and he said that he hasn't heard anything about this. He also said that he just did some on camera stuff for an upcoming Bleach DVD and he also did Renji's part for episode 60 a few days ago.
Plus that video was uploaded over a month ago, which means that con that Johnny was at was even earlier, and I think if the dub was moving we would have heard something about it by now. I'm not sure what Johnny was talking about, maybe since he was disappointed that Canada got Death Note he said maybe they would get Bleach too, making a joke or something like that. He never did say that Bleach was definitely moving to canada.
But yeah I don't think it's moving.

But, I'm still bothered by something that is on the official Adult Swim TV schedule: [img=http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/3369/asscheduleseptoct07cg2.th.jpg] (http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?image=asscheduleseptoct07cg2.jpg)
If you look at Saturday airings of Bleach, it says that they will be showing everything through Episode 52. Then for the next two Saturdays after that, they scratched out Bleach and won't say what they are showing instead. On top of that, they ARE showing Blood+ right afterwards, as always. So, why are they not showing Bleach after Episode 52 on AS?
Maybe it's temporary, or has to do with ratings problems... hey, I don't know. I just have my concerns and I'm confused. We definitely can't watch the dub if it doesn't air on TV...

yeah I'm not sure why adult swim is taking a break. This isn't uncommon though, they put Inuyasha on hiatus a bunch of times before it finished. Maybe they want to give this new anime a chance when it airs (which yeah is likely Death Note). Or maybe they ran out of dubbed episodes and VIZ hasn't sent them anymore.
It seems like a weird place to take a break though, you'd think that since they've come so far they would just wait until the SS arc ended.
off topic: Has it actually been confirmed that it's Death Note that is going to start?
On adult swims website they blocked out the titles after ep 52, but that doesn't mean it can't be on, and the DVD's will still be released, maybe even faster than bi-monthly:eek:

Well, the voice is for sure different, but the voice actor is still listed as the same. Must just be a different take at it, for the better.
Awesome episode of the scale of bleachness. You just know shit is hitting the fan. Soon. Next episode starts the beginning of greatness (ep.52-59) and the beginning of the end (last episodes before fillers).
Lets start the bets on whether we will get a hour ep.
But next week's the last episode before Death Note takes Bleach's place :cry Well sorta since I like Death Note more than Bleach tbh
This is going to be such a crappy place to take a break in the show.
Whoever thought "lets take a break right before the climax of biggest arc in the series so far" is a fool
That rant being said, I liked this episode. Soifon sounded far better, tousen was still great, iba didn't sound as annoying, Komamura could have been better but was till good and even kyoraku sounded better. Overall, i love how the shinigami start souning great right before their main role in the series ends:D

Since 52 and 53 were an hour special and my favorite fight in the series, Tousin vs Kenpachi, is in what would be epp 53 I have no doubt we'll only see a half hour. Especially since the dub is going on hiatus for new eppisodes for who knows how long.
So close... and yet so far :\

Oh, the episodes will be back, no question. It's just a question of time and in what manner. >.> That being with different voices. I'm betting it will before Death Note is done and probably around the time a certain slot opens up.
Last night on adult swim they were "talking" about bleach being replaced by death note. They said that bleach may come back, which means that it probably hasn't even been decided yet, and most likely won't be back until death note has ended, after that i bet it'll be back, but anime on adult swim isn't very popular, so I doubt there will be any kind of push for it to start new episodes.
Velius
10-09-2007, 02:19 AM
If anime really was as not popular as they joke around about, it wouldn't be on the air, epically in it's own block, and they wouldn't still be picking up new shows. I mean, Cowboy Bebop is still freakin on by popular demand.
Bleach will be back, maybe not on CN. We already know (which completely silpped my mind) that the episodes have continued to be dubbed, into season 3, with the same cast, to at least episode 60. So the break much be because they can't keep up with the one week an ep pace for whatever reason.

It's very possible that Viz doesn't have any dubbed episodes to give to Cartoon Network at this time, beyond episode 52. That could explain why they are using that episode to go on hiatus. So, basically, it's not their fault, but the media group who owns the American rights to Bleach. From what I heard very recently, Viz is just now dubbing episodes in the 60's right now, which means they are not ready for TV yet. I think it'll be back on AS once a new time-slot opens up on Saturday night, and, of course, when CN has more dubbed episodes to air. And, it won't necessarily be back only after Death Note is finished.
But, just in case they never do bring it back to CN, as long as we can be a loud enough voice, we can all ban together and sign petitions saying that we want Bleach back! This is America, we can get things done by demand. We are the people watching their network, afterall. If we want it back, they'd be wise to give it back to us...

No, the dub is not canceled. They are having problems (CN that is) with sceduling issues for whatever reason.

Actually, if you go back and read through the thread, that is not that possible. It was confrimed by 2 of the vocie actors, that dubbing has continued into at least episode 60.

That's what I meant by maybe they won't continue on CN, but probably still on YTV. If the episodes are avaible, I don't see why they won't air them.

A couple weeks ago I spoke with a CN representative who stated that Bleach was not scheduled to return before the end of the calendar year, but she gave no indication that it wouldn't return at all. I can't imagine it not returning, as it's been doing quite well. So we don't have anything to worry about there. I think I'm going to pass the time playing the new games until it comes back. :)
Usually Bleach ranks the highest every Saturday that it airs. It's that AS itself doesn't like anime (well AS really likes FLCL though lol), but yeah since anime DOES do so well that is why AS shows it.

They show it because it ranks the highest but what I want to know is why they don't like it when it does so much better then the crap they put on. Are they jealous or something?

Us as fans like to think this way but if you catch their broadcast ratings for the Saturday programming you'll see Futurama(though on a separate block) rates higher than Bleach in most cases but it almost always comes in second. Not liking something you broadcast and fans loving it are different so long as the ratings are concerned. I don't like change either but if it's for Death Note I don't mind.

I will be first to admit how good Death Note is. honestly though, there is no way it's going to be able to come close to how good bleach has done. It just doesn't have as mass appeal to the type of views that watch the anime block. Bluntly, there is no action to keep people watching.

I hate Death Note myself, so it's a double whammy for me. But I agree whole heartedly that it just doesn't have the mass appeal Bleach does. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up moving Death Note if it does poorly ratings wise.

Actually, you need to go back and read my post because you didn't understand what I wrote. You just confirmed what I stated, in that CN probably doesn't have any episodes to air past 52 because they haven't been produced yet, since Viz is just now dubbing episodes in the 60's. It doesn't take only a day to completely produce a dubbed episode, FYI. Of course the dubbing of Bleach continues, only that they are NOT READY FOR TV YET. Does that make sense?
I was on a bleach website and saw a post that said that Ulquiorras eng. voice in the new bleach game was Steven Blum. The site itself isn't a reliable source of information but wikipedia also says its Blum (which means it must be true:p). And if he's the voice in the game he may be the voice in the dub (whenever it gets there)
Thoughts. its probably fake, but it may be true, and either way it'll give us something to talk about.

Did Rukia just say Gin's name in the correct order?
Velius
10-14-2007, 04:31 AM
Yes, correct for the japanese way to say it. Correct for everyone else, is the way they have been saying it in the dub. xD The main reason why it wasn't reveresed, is because it's pretty much impossible to match up lip syncs with how you would say "I chi mar u" compared to "Gin". So yea, it was staying the same.
Btw - Nice job by Viz making an ending there. Looked believable. I wonder which "To be continued" they used....
So we get a preview, but no more episodes for God only knows how long. >.>

Grimmjow's VA for the Bleach Wii game is David Vincent. The only truly notable role he seems to have done in anime before was Van from "Gun x Sword," which, oddly enough, has a ton of VAs from Bleach in it. He sounds pretty good as Van, but not Grimmy-ish. The character he did was very laid-back and sort of out-of-it a lot of the time, so...
The newest episode was pretty good (as Vel said, the to be continued looked great:D), and the voices worked well. I'm used to Renjis and byakuyas voices so they sounded fine to me.

I always liked the English Byakuya's voice. I thought it fits. I mean if he didn't have the deep voice, I don't think his character would have worked.

OMG! That first video of the Bleach Wii game is so awesome! Grimmy's all, "now do you understand how weak you are?" to Ulqui. And, Ulqui kept on calling him a "piece of trash." Those two are totally in character. But, isn't Ulqui's VA the guy who voiced Spike Spiegle from Cowboy Bebop?

I'm okay with that, since I was really hoping Ulqui would be voiced by Crispin Freeeeeman... Yummy...:love I'm not really attached to David Vincent being the anime Grimmjow, but he's pretty good anyway. No one could ever surpass Junichi Suwabe, as far as I'm concerned, so I don't expect much from anyone...

If you have ever seen Blum's list of casting credits, he's done plenty of non-union shows, using an alias. It's very possible that he could be in bleach, maybe even as a big part. But I wouldn't take the fact that he has voiced Ulq in the bleach game, as it's confrimed that he will voice Ulq in the bleach anime. But I'm sure lots will insinuate. It's not completely unfounded, it wouldn't surprise me in the least, but it's far from confirmed from the anime. Like 50 some episodes. Almost a year, just of air time, to make the decision. The CN hiatus isn't helping....

I know, but he said at Narutofan that he's most likely not going to be part of the Bleach anime because it's non-union. Hell, I brought up some of his aliases and it turns out he hasn't used any alias in a while

All you had to do was read a bit of the thread, before asking, to find the answer. The dub has been replaced by Death Note for an unknown amount of time. The dub itself, has continued to be dubbed and I'm sure they will eventually catch up on DVDs if CN waits long enough. This is all CN fault for whatever reason

The reason it's been cancelled from CN, most likely, is because the network got caught up with the dubbing. Kyle Hebert, the guy who voices Gangyu and Aizen in the anime, said this is why he thinks it happened and mentioned it in his own thread here at BA. I also figured this out myself beforehand. So, it's just a problem with timing.
Bleach should come back perhaps after Blood+ is finished with its new Saturday night airings, which is likely to be around March of next year. Hopefully, they won't wait until Death Note runs its course. That would take several more months...:(

I'm loving the Dub. Poor Vic Does like half of the Shinigami including Ikkaku. I can't wait for Aizen's accent and the Arrancar. I would like for Crispin Freeman (Voice of Alucard from Hellsing and Itachi from Naruto) to do an Espada or one of the Arrancar. He'd make a good Grimmjow or Szyle (Forgot how to spell his name, sorry fans)
