The cloak worn by Aizen is the one developed and worn by Urahara in TBTP. Not only does it conceals Reiatsu, it also conceals the person's outline. Hence Isshin couldn't detect them at all. The only thing Isshin was sure was it was an attack from a Zanpakutou, not a hollow.

Also, Isshin did not Bankai because he was injured (why must u deny us, Kubo?).

Masaki arrives on scene. The Chinese spoilers didn't explicitly mention she healed Isshin, but she "destroyed the black hollow at close range"*.

Hm...maybe due to being limited in the world of the living, Isshin's bankai isn't effective enough to do significant damage to the hollow (quite like how Renji and Hitsugaya weren't able to do much with their bankai while they were sealed).

Dude, outside of main characters and favs, bankai = death. The moment any "powerhouse" shows his trump card is the moment they die. I thought you knew how Kubo works: No love interests and no bankai. Both of those equal death with extreme prejudice.:rolleyes:

Thanks for the spoilers. I was only really staying up for them. So it's basically just an extension of the 529... I can do that. Would've love to see what happens to Super Hollow, though. Does someone take it down or does it just make off into the night?

Oh Well, its for the best I suppose. It would be a bit anti climatic to see his bankai used while he was sealed up, I would much rather see the full power of his bankai then a watered down version.

A few people went at me for saying he wouldn't know it was Aizen. That there would be no conversation between the two or a fight. Glad that didn't happen as I said last chapter, it would of threw off the whole chain of future events. Also didn't like that I said Masaki would make short work of this.

I knew Isshin wouldn't know it was Aizen specifically. When he met Masaki a few chapters back he mentioned fighting the hollow. It only seemed plausible that he didn't know who attacked him at that moment. How could he when even Aizeh had trouble detecting Urahara? Isshin's attention was elsewhere while Aizen was simply running his mouth, though. So Aizen had more "time" to really be aware of his surroundings.

Masaki not being killed by masaki is no longer a groundless arguement. We now have a certain amount of proof that there was no possible way masaki was killed by grand fisher. This also leads one to believe that it could possibly be aizen wearing the cloak was the one that slashed masaki and not GF himself.

It actually makes a lot of sense if you think about it, masaki was actually lying face forward on the ground and felt the surge of pain from behind rather afront, a trademark of aizen assaulting style aka backstabbing.
I think aizen for the first time acted out of character; revenge. He probably killed masaki for messing up his arrancar experiments.

I personally feel Aizen all along was only interested in hollow experimentation to achieve his goal of reaching ascendency. Not so much into Quincy and their involvement. Maski's and Isshin's involvement were more of circumstantial than planned. Neither was Ichigo's birth planned directly by Aizen.

I meant he knew of Isshin and Masaki's marriage and their offspring. But it was only after Ichigo and Rukia meeting that he recognised Ichigo's potential and started incorporating him into his plans.

As much as bleach fanatics idolize Aizen for his being crafty, I won't give him so much credit...he is merely opportunistic.

It seems Tite Kubo is coming back to the first chapter of this sub-arc. Therefore I am not surprised that Masaki defeated the black hollow but I am sure, it is an impressive fight. I am very much looking forward to learn more about her powers.

my 2 centsI agree, sure Aizen has this huge street cred for being a psychological villain, but once things didn't go his Kyoka Suigetsu way in the Deicide finale, he just went and threw a tantrum-v-;;. I think most of his cred just comes from Kyoka Suigetsu. Also, if they show Masaki killing that hollow, someone should caption a speech bubble saying, BOOM!, headshot.

That's a large part of what makes Aizen interesting. He doesn't plan everything... but he is flexible and clever enough to turn any new developments to his advantage. :D

I can't wait to see the chapter! I wonder what Aizen is thinking in all this? I don't believe he was only interested in hollow experimentation. That was surely part of it. But I can't believe he wasn't aware of the Quincies and their potential. We don't know that Aizen planned Ichigo's birth... just that he was aware of him since his birth.

And it's great to see Masaki rescuing Isshin! I'm eager to see their interaction. :)

She really is!! haha. no wonder why Ichigo is so strong willed and fearless. He got those traits from both his mother and father! Same with Karin. No idea about Yuzu though because being confused and out of the loop doesn't determine her fighting will.

The chapter sounds like it should be pretty awesome; Masaki fighting hollows certainly sounds exciting.
Just to clarify, Masaki is still in school here right? I assume Isshin didn't drop everything to run off with her then and there so I'm wondering how they managed to develop a relationship? It's not exactly like she lives down the road or that either Soul Society and the Ishidas would be particularly thrilled with the arrangement.

One must look to the Zanpakuto to fall under the hypnosis. Isshin was not looking on Aizen. However, is better to not use your own power when you have devices that can have the same effect.

That's a good point. Maybe he has Isshin under Kyouka Sugetsu but not the hollow or Masaki and he wanted to avoid tipping his hand in regards to his abilities and/or avoid them noticing him?

I personally suspect Aizen was just so pleased to get one over Urahara he's taking every opportunity to play with his ill gotten toys? :confused:

That's a large part of what makes Aizen interesting. He doesn't plan everything... but he is flexible and clever enough to turn any new developments to his advantage. :D

I can't wait to see the chapter! I wonder what Aizen is thinking in all this? I don't believe he was only interested in hollow experimentation. That was surely part of it. But I can't believe he wasn't aware of the Quincies and their potential. We don't know that Aizen planned Ichigo's birth... just that he was aware of him since his birth.

And it's great to see Masaki rescuing Isshin! I'm eager to see their interaction. :)

Regarding the Quincies, i feel he's too arrogant for that. It's almost like Quincies meant nothing to him. I wondered if he witnessed the previous Quincy war and knew of the existence of the Vandenreich...

I wonder what was the reason for Aizen's intervention. Did he think that Isshin would kill his experimental hollow before it completed its mission?

If he used Bankai, he probably could kill it. Most probably Aizen was searching a new guinea pig for his hollowification experiments, and found it in Isshin

Masaki got wounded by the hollow. So that's the origins of Ichigo's fullbring powers as well as probably his "white" inner hollow.

She didn't only shoot him here. She did something that probably turned everything interesting to make Ichigo a perfect hybrid, and Aizen just realized that.

That Chapter made me laugh when i saw Aizen's Rapeface. ;)

At the end i loved how Masaki killed the Hollow. But that doesn't mean it is really dead. Perhaps she just broke the Mask & maybe we will even get the chance to see that Hollow's Face.

Masaki the badass quincy... did not see that ending coming! It was too fast for her to aim, so she lures it in, lets it nom on her shoulder, so she can shoot it no aiming needed - the kind of fighting tactic that we normally see for guys like yama! FTW :cool:

Her arrows kept missing because the hollow was to fast, so she stopped shooting for it to bite her so she could hold onto it, then she made a mini bow with one hand.

I loved the how Kubo drew Aizen when he said "Let's see what happens". The excitement on his face over something happening that he did not plan is apparent.

I wonder if this Hollow was made with a particular Shinigami in mind, or if all that's relevant is that it was based on a Shinigami soul in general.

They said they created the Hollow using the soul of Shinigami. I guess those Shinigami killed earlier in Naruki city had their souls used to create that Hollow.

Tousen sure got peeved when Aizen called Shiro a mere "sample" hollow. Makes me wonder if there's a Tousen connection to the shinigami soul they based Shiro off of or if he's just being anal with Aizen about the terminology and classification.

Masaki is turning out to be awesome. I hope Ichigo picks up some of her tricks somehow. Ryuuken/Ichigo training arc incoming?

Lol, my first thought when I seen that technique: Fireball Jutsu. Glad I'm not the only one who seen that.

Relating to Masaki, she's pretty badass. She just Kenpachi'd the Hollow in order to get a clean shot (referencing his fight against Tousen). I really hope now Kubo ties that bite into how Ichigo got his hollow powers, that'd be a nice way to tie things together. We know his shinigami powers were from his dad, and quincy blood from the mom. Tying in the hollow powers like this explains his hybrid status completely now.

Tousen's explanation of the hollow seemed pretty interesting too. The first Hollow created from a Shinigami's soul, and it also happens to be the very hollow the creates Ichigo's inner hollow (which is also pure white.. much like Tousen said this one was on the inside.). Overall, lots of information and revelation this chapter, going to have to give it a solid 10 I think.

Based on what we've seen so far, she's quickly becoming a favorite for me as well. I would be going out on a limb here but I would say she is/was royalty amongst the Quincy. She made it look ever so simple, while a caption struggled.

What a... morbid, no, demented last scene. It's like she's cradling her inborn. Before killing him i.e Ichigo.

And it was the first time Aizen looked so interested. I bet he didn't predict a Quincy to appear.

Plus this concludes when Masaki was attacked by a Hollow thus inducing Ichi's Fullbring side and her death was with Grand Fisher though I doubt it's that simple.

P/S: Isshin's Shikai lets him control fire and turn his blood as a fuel for attack? Awesomeness!! Though dammit, his Bankai. I guess a certain unfortunate VR member will taste it.

My initial review and thoughts.

Well well, Aizen seems to be a thief as well now. :p Not only was he intrigued by Kisuke's black cloak design, he also modified it with Kido to render him almost invisible. Quite the upgrade if you ask me, Aizen is one damn scientist.

Isshin is also quite smart, he realised instantly that the sword slash was from a Zanpakuto rather than this Hollows. Reminded me of Yammamoto when Aizen stabbed him and he would never mistake the spiritual energy of a Zanpakuto.

Quite to the punch aren't we Isshin.

Gin seems to be amused by Isshin's sightless observations of the skies above and Aizen seems quite burden of this "failure" of an experiment. Aizen also gave us some foreshadow of Isshin's Bankai, Isshin seems to need completely tactful spiritual energy before he can use it, so Aizen was really worried about their little experiment for him to back stab Isshin.

Seems as if this Hollow isn't as powerful as we thought and since we haven't had any comment about Gentei Kaijo, I am assuming the limiter applied to Isshin as well, since any Soul Reaper whom uses the Senkaimon of Captain/Lieutenant level has the block placed on them.

Kaname is interesting, he seems distraught by Aizen's words. "This sample", something based off on the Soul structure of a Soul Reaper - is of their own creation. Aizen really did research many means of creating Hollows and resorted to creating them off the DNA of a Soul Reaper as well.

Kubo gives us a nice reference to what "Bleach" is all about, the cleansing of Hollows and the irony is, the inner whiteness of this Hollow is still tainted by its outward appearance. I enjoyed the metaphorics behind this. Quite elaborate and reflective devices.

Even after being deeply wounded by Aizen, Isshin is still putting up quite the battle against this Hollow. After receiving not only another wound, Isshin manages to parry this Hollow with his feet and sword, great Hakuda skill their - especially when he flicked Aizen through multiple buildings. :cool:

Isshin is quite the trickster as well and I loved him converting his blood into a fire/dragon breathe attack against the Hollow. Very creative and very reflective of Isshin's often impish personality. Great Shikai development and very resourceful of Isshin who wanted to use his Bankai. He looks completely bad ass and collected when he does this as well.

Then we have our school girl hero appear, she first hand witnesses her future lover in battle and combat and Isshin manages to blow off one arm of this Hollow right before Masaki's eyes.

There is a lot of desperation in her eyes, mainly it looks like she wants to be up there assisting Isshin in anyway possible and I quite like that about Masaki so far, she is so much like Ichigo! It is amazing reflection of characterisation.

Masaki's discourages this Hollow from even firing a Cero with an arrow and well, she is no marksmen just yet with her dodgy aim as she is in school training - but she surely does have the heart of a protector. That stance she wields with her spirit bow is quite poetic of a dramatic entrance and bravery, Isshin seems VERY shocked.

Then we have Aizen and that face, it literally looks like a million synapses just exploded in his head. Aizen seems baffled, and awestruck and this face tells me the unfolding future - he really did know (obviously) about Ichigo from his birth and he witnessed the potential from his parents first hand in a battle field.

That was a great cinematic of Aizen's character as well. Kaname's mortification is also quite reflective of his "justice" where he seems compassionate about these creations.

Then the final panels, Masaki is one true brave heart. She let this Hollow have at her - that was quite panicking. I was sure she was going to be done for, but she is just as quick paced as Isshin here. Allowing the Hollow to bite into her shoulder, she literally blows it into nothingness at risk of her own life.

Reminds me so much of an amazon warrior, the stance, the bravery and the sheer dumb luck risk taker girl. Kubo is really elaborating on a character we had no previous knowledge of until now. Excellent work there.

Well done Kubo, again you delivered an effective and amazing chapter that really kept me on my heals.

This is one of my favourites so far and really held close to my heart.

Tosen clearly hates shinigami, knowing a hollow is made from shinigami in it's core just places it against Tosen's ideas of ridding himself from the "taint" that killed his friend.

But having a afro-descendant man openly segregating a hollow in black and white is quite the worst racist joke Kubo pulled in quite some time.

Anyhow, Isshin is a badass to boot, Masaki is crazy awesome and the Hollow is batshit insane. Guess that Ichigo got the best of his three parents.

God damn, what a chapter!!!

Highlights and important points to note:
# Isshin is actually badass; years of goof off Dad is finally peeling away to reveal his real potential. He could tell it was a Zan slash and knew it was the work of a traitor.
# Aizen didn't have everything planned after all. As much as the Light Yagami of Bleach loves to brag about how everything is planned and going according to keikaku, he didn't anticipate a Quincy on the scene (http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3tnv9y/). It would be damning if all his planning was a result of him allowing anomalies into the equation. Plus note the look of excitement in his eyes; he's genuinely intrigued, perhaps even bordering on a Mayuri-esque smile of scientific curiosity.
# Shut up Kaname..Seriously...shut the hell up. :eek:
# Note that White used a Getsuga Tenshou on Isshin.
# "Hollow based on a Shinigami soul" + The resemblance of White to Hichigo/HellKnight mode....Masaka!!! Did Aizen just perform the very first Trials of Shattered Shaft on a poor unnamed shinigami??!
# Masaki is killer. Pure ice cold killer. I take back anything I said about her. Frankly this chapter is all about misleading apperances: White is clothed in Black, a joker captain is badass and a tee-hee Orihime-esque character is showing surprising cunning and bravado (perhaps a little Scrappy Doo?)

I immediately thought of the Fullbringer concept mainly because of Kaname's explanation, despite being a human - they are just regular Souls if they are dead.

-Aizen just committed copyright infringement! He totally stole the cloak from Kisuke. Btw, he didn't modify it to cloak his presence too, he just added some kido on it, like he did when he spied on Urahara and Shinji caught him.

-Aizen's smiles in this chapter were surprising... He kinda reminded me of Mayuri. Especially when Masaki showed up. He was like: "OMG! Another variable to my experiments! This is the best day of my life!"

-Tousen lecturing Aizen on white-hollow (hollows with Shinigami souls placed inside them) discrimination was pretty pathetic. We get it, man, you're into self-righteousness, don't overdo it... I loled when he immediately offered to "eliminate" Masaki... What the hell, man? :mad:

-So, the colors match, the incident matches, it's probably the hollow that made Ichigo a fullbring and gave birth to Hollow Ichigo.

-Isshin is badass (swearing while fighting, using his blood as fuel for the fire, cutting the hollow's arm), but Masaki is more! Seriously, she must be very strong! The last panel was so awesome ("I gooot yoouuu!", :p) And the fact that she's that young means pureblooded Quincies must be super strong! Can't wait to see the Ishidas fight!

-Finally, it seems Aizen didn't arrange Isshin and Masaki to get married. That would be too much, even for him. But of course, when they did, he saw an amazing opportunity and took it.

I wonder if a bite is enough to start a chain reaction from Masaki. Remember, its too toxic for normal souls or gotei division members. I'd bet a pureblood Quincy can withstand it, with unexpected effects. Its a big possibility Kubo can explore, methinks. (Aizen here seems genuinely interested in Quincies all of a sudden.. I think he also agrees :P)

-Aizen just committed copyright infringement! He totally stole the cloak from Kisuke. Btw, he didn't modify it to cloak his presence too, he just added some kido on it, like he did when he spied on Urahara and Shinji caught him.

-Aizen's smiles in this chapter were surprising... He kinda reminded me of Mayuri. Especially when Masaki showed up. He was like: "OMG! Another variable to my experiments! This is the best day of my life!"

-Tousen lecturing Aizen on white-hollow (hollows with Shinigami souls placed inside them) discrimination was pretty pathetic. We get it, man, you're into self-righteousness, don't overdo it... I loled when he immediately offered to "eliminate" Masaki... What the hell, man? :mad:

-So, the colors match, the incident matches, it's probably the hollow that made Ichigo a fullbring and gave birth to Hollow Ichigo.

-Isshin is badass (swearing while fighting, using his blood as fuel for the fire, cutting the hollow's arm), but Masaki is more! Seriously, she must be very strong! The last panel was so awesome ("I gooot yoouuu!", :p) And the fact that she's that young means pureblooded Quincies must be super strong! Can't wait to see the Ishidas fight!

-Finally, it seems Aizen didn't arrange Isshin and Masaki to get married. That would be too much, even for him. But of course, when they did, he saw an amazing opportunity and took it.

Kubo denied us a glimpse into what Isshin's bankai was.

Well, this is a nice way to come back to the world...atleast the chapter is up after I fell asleep waiting for it.

Man, what a chapter. So the hollow was based off a shinigami and Masakii saved Isshin from getting his head blow off by a point blank cero...damn. Aizen...maybe you should listen to Tousen sometime, perhaps if you let him take her out you wouldn't eventually find yourself getting blown in half by a few years later~

Still, damn Masaki you are damn lucky that the stunt you pulled payed off, that could have ended alot worse if that hollow tried somethigng else then simply biting you. But damn, creating a tiny bow at point blank range...that is going to hurt.

I agree with the people who said Aizen didn't use KS with Isshin because he never saw it. I mean, he did say he showed his shikai to all the VC (and captains?) of the gotei, but if Hitsugaya saw it, it was way after these events. And I guess he doesn't spend his days releasing his shikai in front of every passing soul, dunno.

Another good chapter, imo. I was hoping to see Isshin's bankai but I guess it's too soon for that. It's funny to see him fighting this serious after seeing how goofy he can be :lmao
As for Masaki, totally fangirling over her. Who thought the sweet mother from Bleach first chapters would turn out to be this brave and badass. Can't wait to see more of the Kurosaki couple.

What's great about him, is the fact that he turns unexpected events around and goes 5 steps ahead of everyone else. It's coming and I figure it will involve a twist, painting him in another light.

Anyway, it is maybe even better if we don`t get some answers too quickly and can speculate using hints instead. Isshin`s Bankai can`t be used when he is seriously hurt. I don`t think Ichigo had that problem. It makes sense anyway that a Bankai is building on a Shikai – in other words, his Bankai would be fire based as well.

I wonder, have Isshin`s powers changed after he got them back? Or can he access two different kinds of Shikai and Bankai? Maybe such a thing is possible.

But even without his Bankai, I can see that Isshin was a strong fighter and the fight is very intense. Isshin showed his quality as a captain: not only when it comes to fighting but also his intelligence. I very much like him in this sub-arc.

Contrary to Isshin, Aizen knew immediately that the girl entering the fight is a Quincy. I find this interesting. On the other hand, I remember faintly that it was mentioned somewhere that Aizen was a teacher. I can`t find any proof right now but Aizen is definitely an intellectual, someone with a lot of knowledge. That he knows about Quincies makes sense.

Masaki has the bow of a beginner but I can see that she was indeed much more powerful than Uryuu was at her age. She is firing several arrows quickly and with ease. They seem to be fired nearly simultaneously. She is also doing this seemingly effortless and her arrows are very powerful.

But even more amazing is what Masaki is doing next. She grabs this extremely powerful creature, pulls him towards her and fires an arrow one-handed directly into his head. This goes far beyond what Uryuu did – not only at her age but since we have seen him. All of this happens as if it is done with ease. It is a well calculated move, executed with precision and skill. Amazing. :)

And she was telling her “aunt”, she is doing “baby-steps” when it comes to her training. :p

No wonder that Isshin was impressed and fell in love with her. :D

Ah - it seems what others said is right: Masaki let the hollow bite her! Hmmm.... maybe this is why Ichigo developed his hollow side later but I still think, the main reason was because of what Urahara did.

So much happened. Potentials from this couple, they really are a match aren't they? Quite cunning and tenacious! And Aizen, he's like Sylar in Heroes (not in a way that he needs to "eat" the brains of others but his ability which is Intuitive aptitude - the ability to innately understand and manipulate patterns within complex systems, which initially manifests as a talent for repairing timepieces. [wikipedia].
It's like when something is laid in front of him, he immediately knows how this thing could be used to exact his curiosity. Damn guy, cunning indeed!
So does that mean no Ryuken fighting? since it looks like Masaki just gave the final blow against WHITE.

Inner whiteness refers to the Quincies/ External Blackness refers to the Shinigami.

Plus it is also ironic that a White (Quincy---->Ichigo) is a pseudo Black (Faux Shinigami). Inner whiteness, outer blackness.

The way Kubo is developing her so far is coming along so effective and completely shocking from what we originally seen of her personality.

She reminds me so much of Ichigo in a couple of ways, combined with the uniqueness of her character.

No, Aizen meant that initiating and sustaining a Bankai with that wound would be impossible. So Aizen didn't comment on the nature of the bankai, only Isshin's inability to get it up after that injury.

From where does those Aizen had his lab in HM theories come from? Well I rarely read the crack theories thread, but I really dont see a base for those kind of theories..

KS surely would be enough to cut Isshin but the 12th div raars and other machines dont have aby sensed to manipulate and its unlikely that KS works between dimensions.
Still they were in HM without those cloack so ther must be some machine or hacking into the 12th divison system must be involved

Im still not sure about the limiter. No captain would consider going Bnakia in the RW when they at full power. Its insaone.

Really enjoyed this chapter. It confirmed something that most readers had probably suspected for a while now and that's that Masaki at one point in her life came into contact with a hollow before giving birth to Ichigo as Ginjou Kuugo suggested early on in the Substitute arc.

I'm now also starting to think that Masaki was definitely not killed by Grand Fischer. Looks like Mr. Aizen might have had a more direct hand in her death as a way to further stimulate his subject Ichigo Kurosaki. Looks like his final and most successful experiment was Ichigo who in the end was also his undoing.

Masaki is officially a badass Ninja Quincy, she assassinated that hollow like a boss. Aizen looked absolutely delighted when a Quincy showed up, can't wait for next week. Since Ichigo had high speed regeneration I thought this hollow would as well, if it does then maybe his head will grow back next week but I can't see that being possible.

Even though he didn't exactly foresee the events that would ensue he did keep influencing the given situation towards his own goals due to his mounting curiosity (letting Isshin fight white & not getting rid of Masaki).

Ichigo's birth was that of random circumstance and planned malicious deviancy on Aizen's part.

Interesting chapter but whats really interesting is Aizen and Tousen's discussion.

This chapter points out why Ichigo has shinigami power even through Isshin says Ichigo isn't one. This hollow is the origin of Ichigo's hollow (+fullbring) and shinigami power. This hollow was created based on a shinigami soul and must have passed on to Ichigo. Aizen and Co can't create life hence based on a shinigami would mean either -

(a) A shinigami has been converted to this hollow (Aizen did his 110 old experiment again to see if he can produce hybrids like Shinji and Co but wasn't the case since there was no Hog. This explains how Aizen realized without the Hog, Shinji and Co would have become hollows).

(b) A hollow has been fused to a shinigami soul

Their discussion here really alludes to Zangetsu (representing Black) and Hichigo (representing White).

Now I really want to know the identity of this hollow i.e who is the shinigami soul this hollow is based on. Could it really be the Ex-10th Division Captain from tbtp arc?

And second point here is also -

Isshin and Masaki didn't hook up straight away. Chances are Isshin returned to SS and reported the event. Aizen twisted the event to suit his need (saying the Vaizards are behind this) and asked a task force be sent to real world to look for Vaizards. Isshin being already involved in this affair either says he wants to lead it, or Aizen simply recommends Isshin. Only later Isshin finds out Aizen was behind all this when Isshin comes into contact with Urahara.

This chapter sort of explains why no gotei 13 captain could go bankai against Aizen after they got cut by him in FKT, including Yamaji. Aizen must know the shinigami pressure points and simply rendered them unless by distrupting their reaitsu. Hence, one way to look at it would be Aizen never stabs/slices someone blindly but always calculated.

And last of all Isshin using "blood" and Urahara's Benihime-

Could this be alluding to a connection (a blood relation) between the two. Both can use fire ability.

So stoked to see Tousen again, I'm loving the visor. As Bliz mentioned, interestng exchange between Tousen and Aizen. The shinigami this hollow is based on is the mystery. From a few chapters ago, it seems their experiment revolves around a virus that they infect spirits with and it starts the hollowfication process. 'Shiro' as Tousen refers to it was most likely a shinigami whom they infected and he became that thing. This must be the first one that is stable, although there is still a missing piece between what happened here and what created the visored.

In that sense, perhaps 'shiro' was grown from scratch.

Apparently isshin can't go bankai if he is not at full health maybe even full power..... his bankai takes too much toll on his body... hm i wonder what it is......and isshin has some interesting technique were he uses his blood like a gasoline to fire an even larger flame attack.....its kinda like grand ray cero, were the espadas use there blood...... Now we can see how ichigo's hollow traits comes from..... and man masaki is physically strong for a quincy woman.... she was able to stop a rushing "white" using her body like a bait(fishing)..... and then proceeded to blow the hollows head..... is it really dead? i think "white" is still alive.... what's the purpose of ryuken coming to the rescue with his reishi armor if there is no more fight.... and lol at aizen's face when he saw masaki... its as if fate showed her the way to aizen's "just as planned" ichigo birth of the greatest specimen hehe

It could also be TBTP 4th div or 7th div VC. There whereabouts has never been talked about.

Isshin and Masaki didn't hook up straight away. Chances are Isshin returned to SS and reported the event. Aizen twisted the event to suit his need (saying the Vaizards are behind this) and asked a task force be sent to real world to look for Vaizards. Isshin being already involved in this affair either says he wants to lead it, or Aizen simply recommends Isshin. Only later Isshin finds out Aizen was behind all this when Isshin comes into contact with Urahara.

This sound very possible. Since Isshin doesn't know who attacked him. This would reignite the interest to find the vizards with Isshin wanting to lead.

If Masaki had no powers when she died, it'd be perfectly believable for a regular Hollow to have killed her. And there is an established way already for a Quincy to burn out: Letzt Stil.

It would in fact be rather poetic if Maskai loses her powers using this technique at the same time that Isshin uses the FGT and loses his own.

Could Shiro essentially turn out to be Ichigo's equivalent of Asauchi?

In the SS arc its was stated that Aizen showed his KS to VC and Captains. We saw that Toshiro the current captain of 10th div was under KS. To me it looks like Aizen showed his KS to the VC and Captains after Isshin left.

Hmm after re-reading TBTP. It looks like everyone in Gotei 13 was under KS already. Aizen had a bald guy pretend to be him and everyone saw and believed that bald guy was Aizen. Now I am confused.

A.1. Isshin is most likly under KS
A.2 KS can hide Aizen from things that have sensed. The 12 div detectors have no sensed, still it doent explains why this hollow cant be detected or how Aizen anc co. could go to HM without those cloack. I still think that there is some machine involved or Aizen haked the 12th div system.
Also till now everytime Aizen tried to attack someone his ilussion disappeared at the same time so basicaly if Aizen would use onl KS Isshin would know that it was Aizen because even if for a sec. Azens ilusion wold be disrupted. Even if it wouldnt Isshin still would still have an easy job at discovering who hit him since just lke Yama sshin surel knows KS's reiasu.

BTW How can Aizen know about Isshin;s BK. Was there some conflict in the last 100 years and we dont know about it? Was Aizen one of the captain during Isshin's captain exam? Isshin really doent seems to be a guy who just shows his power to random people. Besides Aizen wasnt surprised that Isshin used getsuga in the FKT arc. Did Aizen seen GT from Isshin...maybe the next chapter will answer it.

The Black Getsuga first initiated by hollowfying Ichigo and Blue/white Isshin/Ichigo's original technique,
This hollow is black due a shinigami soul as a base and the Visored's 'whiteness' covered the black when they hollowfied.

Brilliant, I read someone's post about Aizen actually attacking a vital point of the Shinigami especially for the captains. It adds something as to why all of the captains didn't go Bankaifest on him during FKT. So I guess he didn't blindly attack people as he seemed to be making us think.

Isshin feeling the tip of a Zanpakutou reminiscent the scene with Yama grabbing Aizen. Old man should be proud to have him as a captain!

Nice chapter, Mr. I know everything Aizen seemed quite interested in the Quincy. I can see why Aizen let Isshin be, he probably calculated they'd get married and stuff. It was interesting how Aizen basically disabled Isshin. But that pretty much says his zanpakuto is a fire type now. It's sad the the two bankai's for the fire are also dangerous to the user. At least Isshin was cool in figuring out he got attacked by a shinigami.

As for Masaki that was awesome. I loved the way she figured it out right away and how to beat this hollow.

Masaki wasn't fast enough to hit the hollow at a range so she had to bring it close. She released her bow and drew the hollow in, allowing it to bite her. With the hollow at such a close range, she generated a small version of her bow and shot the hollow at point blank range.

I don't think she used Blut or anything, she just took a big gambit and luckily the hollow didn't try to cut her in half. We know that hollows do have the tendency to try and eat their victims and if she used blut, I would have though that her wound would have had less blood.

For those wondering why Aizen didn't use KS. 2 probably explanations

1. It would've hindered the fight with the Hollow and affected experimental results

2. I actually think he (Aizen) simply never got the opportunity to show it to Isshin. Hence he would be immune. It explains why it wasn't used when they both fought in FKT either hence why Isshin was able to spank him (before he went Lady GaGa mode.)

PS. Masaki is awesome tactically and apparently quite durable.

I was also a fan of Masaki's 'pistol' Quincy bow (Imagine that dual wielded)

I suspect with this hollow defeated, although even head-shots seem unreliable in bleach (See Shunsui) Masaki and Isshin will form a relationship, but this will be frowned upon by both Quincy and Shinigami sides (Romeo and Juliet style) both lose thier powers fighting but fake thier deaths? Ryuken has to fight too at some point though, so perhaps the hollow isn't quite dead...

I never said that she didn't have the ability, I just mean that she did not use it. She is very early in her training, she may have simply not unlocked it yet or put into a position where it would be unlocked like Ichigo's was.

(Ichigo's blut was activated by instinct and or by a reaction when Bach suddenly stabbed him, but Masaki took this hollow's attack on purpose meaning that she was fully aware of what was going to happen if the hollow bit her, thats the difference of the two situations)

Anyway, Aizen comments on a 'Captain rank using Shikai'. You'd think if Isshin had his limiter on he would have remarked on that, considering he would be way below Captain level. Thus indicating that Hollow wasn't much to begin with. I'm thinking he may have been at full power.

On another note, I would have like to see Ichigo's inner world after he regained his powers. It seems with Fullbring added on the balance actually tipped in the Hollow's favor, seeing as how Zangetsu changed to match it's arms.

Oh yeah, Isshin using his blood in that attack oddly reminded me of a Gran Rey Cero.

Ikkaku's Bankai can be rather limiting because it requires time to power up and because it is rather brittle. As Mayuri said his bankai wasn't able to recover from the one time he used it in battle that we know of.

Toshiro's Bankai has a limit, or at least it did early on, to the time it takes his flowers to dissolve. Although that was thought to be because it was still immature. In his fight with the arrancar he seemed to take pretty heavy damage when it ran out while he was still using it.

Soifon's bankai is limited in the number of shots she has and it seemed a bit of a liability to use without support as if she misses it leaves her open.

Dogface's bankai takes a toll on his body because any wound it receives his body receives. This could be considered a liability because it is so large and slow it is absolutely going to take at least some damage from any sort of fast captain level opponent.

All bankai with the exception of Ichigo's theoretically drain a lot of energy. His is different because it compresses his stupid amount of energy. Which is why he could stay in bankai for, I don't know, like the entire arrancar arc. His is an oddity as Byakuya pointed out. Most bankai emit lots of energy, Ichigo's compresses it. So, most bankai probably consume a pretty hefty amount of reiatsu to keep up.

From my understanding if you are Bach's bloodline you automatically have blut ability. And if Ichigo can use his blut spontaneously then Masaki should be able to as well (if Masaki is Bach's descendant).

All I am trying to point out is Ichigo had blut ability. He either got it from Bach through Masaki, or directly. If its through Masaki then she should have crazy powerful blut ability and really strong Quincy power. But if its from Bach directly then it would indicate Ichigo is Bach's son.

Pretty epic chapter. Lol Aizen sure loves to nab Urahara's inventions.

I liked the confirmation that bankais are detrimental to shinigami as that further helps explain Yamamoto's defeat and why several shinigami hesitate to use them, in addition to them causing turmoil to the souls around them in the living world and being near unfixable if they are damaged.

I also liked the chapter's title, "White Noise" and Tousen dubbing the hollow "White" referencing it's inner whiteness while its outside was black, as it reflects Bleach's title and hollow Ichigo and could possibly even be an official confirmation of the title's premise within the manga beyond Kubo's words at Jump Fest. Tousen confirmed, as I predicted, that the hollow originated as a shinigami so I wonder whom it could be. Perhaps one of the Shibas or one of the five lieutenants from the second databook that haven't been elaborated on yet.

What I'd like to point out is that while this chapter is a beautiful one, it doesn't necessarily mean that Kubo's writing skills are solidified. I still think the FB was pulled out of thin air as a deux-ex-machina to get Ichigo back in the game for a new set of enemies of the state. All Kubo had to do was have Masaki injured in some way or the other (not necessarily fatally) in order for the criterion of Fullbringer's parentage to be fulfilled.

While I laud Masaki's bravery (I just typed in braveness a second back, lol), it does seem very strange to recklessly throw yourself at an enemy like that. Perhaps she wasn't skilled enough in techniques like Reishi manipulation into Scheele Schneder (or whatever). But still that was a suicide attack and someone like Masaki who cares about the value of life so effortlessly throwing hers away for an individual she is yet to meet seems bizarre. Also, the way she cradled White's head before she single-handedly fired an arrow (how do you manage that??!) was insanely creepy.

I think Ichigo got it from Masaki, so of course she has it.

I am just saying that she hasn't unlocked it yet. How did Ichigo unlock his? By unknowingly using it to block Bach's attacks, something that was done by his subconscious. Masaki though, took the hollow's attack knowingly, meaning that she was well aware of what was happening and what happened to Ichigo did not apply to that situation.

I know that Masaki likely has Blut, I am just saying that its still something she has to unlock it still like any other Quincy ability since she is still training.

I can of course be wrong in this situation and she did use it when the hollow bit her, I am just thinking that after what we have seen from Blut, then there is a likelihood that blood wouldn't have even been drawn from that wound.

Atualy Masaki was really rckless since this hollow could do anything. It bite her buy its could just cut her head. Isshin knew thaat someone is watching so he couldnt use such "strategy"

What I'd like to point out is that while this chapter is a beautiful one, it doesn't necessarily mean that Kubo's writing skills are solidified. I still think the FB was pulled out of thin air as a deux-ex-machina to get Ichigo back in the game for a new set of enemies of the state. All Kubo had to do was have Masaki injured in some way or the other (not necessarily fatally) in order for the criterion of Fullbringer's parentage to be fulfilled.
and to give Ichigo new robe.... and sword.... and stupid bondage colar around his neck.
Shame that he could easly find a better explanation as to why Icigo's BK changed.
IDK why fullbring was needed since Ichigo cant even use it right now since he have just some leftovers of it.

I think Ichigo got it from Masaki, so of course she has it.

I am just saying that she hasn't unlocked it yet. How did Ichigo unlock his? By unknowingly using it to block Bach's attacks, something that was done by his subconscious. Masaki though, took the hollow's attack knowingly, meaning that she was well aware of what was happening and what happened to Ichigo did not apply to that situation.

Or Ichigo is the MC and can use any power he needs at the right time. Blut just like every Quincy attack is just reshi manipulation. The only difference is that the Quincies absorb reshi directly into their bodies when the use blut. Masaki doesnt need to be in any way conected to the VR to use lut.
Besides she is in her body made ok Kish. How could she absorb reshi into a body made of kishi?

Well all information on Masaki aside, Kubo decided not to showcase Isshin's bankai during this fighting sequence (yet again :(). However, he did mention Isshin's bankai puts a lot of stress on his body, which is why Aizen weakened him. Now putting stress on one's body may be something very common for a bankai, but didn't byakuya claim Ichigo's bankai "puts a lot of stress on his body" during their battle at the end of soul society arc? Perhaps Engetsu and Zangetsu share a similar bankai?

EveryBK have some weak point. All of them need a lot of reiatsu. Soifon cant move very well, Byakuya actualy also nover use shunpo in this bankai base for since he would be hit be his little blades, Koma is a big target,.... Hiyorimmaru, Suzumushi and Assoji Jizou dont have any negative efect on the user.....Yes Ichigo have speed beyound his limi so stamina will always be his problem if he will use his high speed too much.
Gin have the biggest weakness, His bankai is damaged evey tme he use his poison= he can use his BK only till the moment ther will be nothing left of his blade.

Blows my mind how Masaki HANDLED that strong ass hollow yet she got killed by Grand Fisher who's a bona-fide scrub. I hope we get to see a flashback of what really happened to Masaki while she tried to protect Ichigo. Maybe Aizen? or maybe she didnt even really die.

I really feel like it will be related to Aizen or Bach. Perhaps she was cut down by one of them. Perhaps it was Ichigo that actually cut down his own mother in one of Aizen's experiments? Obviously, we know Ichi's soul chain was never cut before Urahara's training so it would contradict some things that happened during the first arc but it is a possibility.

So, we continue exactyl when we left off - at the place where Isshin & the Black Armoured Hollow are. I was expecting to see Ryuken calmly analyzing the situation & the would-be opponents reiatsu, but jumping straight to the point where Masaki appears is even better.

Heh, Aizen is really wearing the same type of pressence concealing cloak that Urahara created back then. He just upgraded it a little bit to make the user even harder to detect by making him invisible. That is so in his style - to use everything your enemy has ,or left during previous battles, against him/her. And he knows everything about the abilities of other significant Shinigami and beings gifted with Spiritual Powers - though he didn't expect a Quincy to show up on the battlefield.

Engetsu' s Bankai puts a huge strain on the wielder body. Hmm, where have we heard that before? :p Guess we know another trait of the -getsu Zanpakuto that Ichigo inherited. Then , there's the matter of Isshin's Zan attacks being fire based... Can it be that Isshin's Bankai is similar to Yamamoto's in a way?

It was reckless of Masaki to deal with the Black Hollow in such a way, but apparently it worked and she wasn't harmed badly, cause she was able to heal the young Shiba afterwards.

We, Masaki is so friggin badass! Although I expected her to have a cooler bow, but it was more than enough. I'm pretty sure she lost her powers if she was able to do something like this and not kill Grand Fisher.

The white hollow's bite left it's mark on Masaki. Guess that's how we got Shiro!Ichigo. Hollow's sure love to bite girls on the shoulder. Here's Sora biting Orihime and getting a mouthful.

Aizen is such a great scientist. He let the experiment do as much as it can even without planing to study the results. First the arrival of Isshin that was not anticipated, and now Masaki. He let´s things unfold even if it´s not according to plan so he can learn as much as possible.

Masaki's really grown on me since her first chapter in this arc. I did a double take when she dropped the bow and then her casually blasting through the head was a surprise. Can't wait for her and Isshin's first interaction.

Wondering if that severed arm is just for effect or if it's going to be important.

@ Nocturne: Stop trying to make it look like Kubo is drawing parallels to events of your own preferences, would you? Not everyone shares in your "Kubo is making Masaki so much like Inoue" fantasies. Masaki is not like Inoue, and there is no way in hell Inoue is anything like Masaki.

I would have thought this chapter would have shown that. The similarities are only superficialities, and you trying to relate them to each other ignores the context of the different situations in every sense of the word.

Inoue's situation and its context: trying to calm down her brother who is a monster

Masaki's situation and its context: a pragmatic decision in combat to get close enough to put an arrow through White's head.

Now look at the context and tell me they are in anyway similar before you go all "oh Kubo is making Masaki so much like Inoue". It is degrading to Masaki's character, and I do not appreciate the way you are using it.

You can say that Inoue and Masaki have nothing in common, but its not true. They have some things in common. Of course Masaki have any things in common with many character and Inoue is on of them.

Yeah yeah I know. I amybe expresed myself incorectly. I know the weaknesses. However what Im trying to find is.... How the bankai reduces the user capablities. Like Soi and Bya-kun cant really move also Koma cant use shunpo and Ichigo cant use super speed for to long. Some Bankais have this kind of effect on the user but some dont hae it it seems.

Nowhere in the chapter does he say that. He said IF the Hollow can be defeated with just Shikai then it is a failed sample. He didn't say the Hollow WILL be defeated with Shikai.

This chapter is freaking amazing one, I like how Masaki appeared on the scenes without even care about her well being but just wanted to attack to the white/black hollow. I knew that will be happen to one of Masaki or Isshin that the hollow will surely getting through the vein in one of them. And Kubo decided it in to Masaki. so I know how Ichigo has a hollow power and the black/white hollow remains me of the Ichigo hollow at the Las Noches.
Masaki is so brave, and hope to know the more about the next scenes, how Isshin will treats her, cause he saw the Quincy woman did something dare actions.

Eh, so Inoue sucks so much being compared to her is degrading to that character? Inoue being bitten by her brother actually also popped into my mind when I saw Masaki doing that. But of course it doesn't mean that's what Kubo was aiming at. What doesn't help is that Inoue and Masaki look very much alike; you could mistake them for sisters if you didn't have any context.

But what this chapter showed is that Masaki is, behind that innocent and earnest face, really ruthless, far more than anything Inoue could possibly be. To the point of being cold.

I can agree with you, I saw the coldness in Masaki actions and this is a bit different from Inoue. But this scenes is same (just the Hollow bit on their shoulder) and this this i believe the cause that Ichigo has a hollow power in his blood.

I liked the chapter. I was hoping we would get an explanation about what was with this hollow, and there we have it. White is a hollowfied shiginami, more like the vizards than the arrancar. No wonder he wanted to pit it against the vizards.

No getsuga tenshou from Isshin this time either. But it looks like he had some sort ability where he put blood on his blade to ampliphy his attack. Kinda similar to how arrancar can use blood to create a grand ray cero.

The ending seemed... kinda weird. Why did White bite Masaki? Biting her seems like one of the least effective attacks he could have used. Perhaps there is something more to this attack? :confused:

I see where this is going. So the created hollow (white) is basically very similar to an asauchi and through the process of the hollow biting Masaki, thus passing some reiatsu through her and the following mixing of Quincy and Shinigami blood through the marriage of Masaki and Isshin is why Ichigo didn't need an asauchi and is generally a big badass.

That hollow essentially is what'll become Zangetsu. It was created based off a shinigami soul and it has been mentioned that zangetsu and ichi-thing was once the one and the same entity. This actually explains a lot.

Also, guessing how elated Aizen looked, I'm going out on a limb here and say that Aizen wanted and somehow made the hollow to bite Masaki. Just as planned...

No he didn't say the hollow would be defeated with shikai, he said IF it is defeated, quite a difference.

As to memory alteration, Tsukishima was able to do it with Chad and Orihime. I'll agree about KS, that's hypnosis and has nothing to do with memories, that's all about illusions.

Who cares about basic similarities. Kubo's characters have had same-face syndrome for years. Offering your body to a hollow is like tossing a steak to a starving lion. It will start nomming. Masaki or whoever else getting nommed on by hollows isn't any more meaningful than Kubo cutting off arms every chance he gets.

Far more meaningful is the connection between Ichigo and the hollow Masaki just handled. Girl is beast. Also of note is the use of rain once again and that of Opus in the chapter titles, a combination now done for the third time.

Nope, he stated that if someone who is weakened and only able to use shikai at the moment , like the 10th Div captain , would manage to kill it, then it means their current way of thinking leads nowhere and that it was a waste of time creating and experimenting on the current specimen.

Anyway, onto the next subject at hand - the hand gesture Isshin used to activate the flame breath... It was the same , or very similar to the one he used during his fight with Aizen in FKT. All the members of the Shiba clan seem to have a kind of activator connected to their special abilities - for example, Ganju makes a circle with his hand to turn things into sand. It can be a form of Kido or a inherent ability of the ones of the clan's blood.

Not really an exciting chapter, but at least Masaki finally started to look like a character on her own instead of just a second come of another one Orihime. That last page really delivered it.

Aside from that, I loved seeing how the bad trio interacted. Specially Aizen/Tousen. They all looked like friends, instead of a boss and his minions.

The only thing I don't get is how 1 hour ago (at most) Tousen was saying they didn't had any success in hollowification, but now it turns out they had a full functional Hollowficated Shinigami going around for days already.

I very much doubt Aizen had anything to do with Masaki's death, what would he gain from it? He certainly wouldn't want anything happening to Ichigo and as for Ichigo's inner hollow, if you notice the injury to Masaki is on her back and she was lying on top of Ichigo, the positioning seems to suggest that she threw herself on top of him to protect him.

Does anyone else think that this battle isn't over yet?

When we first came to this flashback, Isshin was on the ground and looked quite worse then his present condition (I mean hell, Isshin can still stand and fight at the moment). Now this could easily just be a change Kubo made, but what if Masaki's 'Arrow to the Head' isn't as effective as some of us think. Masaki obviously looks the part now with her shoulder wound, but what injures Isshin further? Does the Hollow survive the attack or does Isshin get attacked again by the hidden trio and Masaki helps him afterward.

Still, I might be looking far too into this...

Hmm... I have to say, Kubo is kicking ass with this flashback arc. I love Masaki's characterisation and still he keeps up the awesome pacing of the arc. What I really want to see now is Ginjou, I think his 'origin story' as it were, could tie in perfectly with this and would explain the majority of the so far pointless start to the Lost Agent arc.

I'm not sure about that. He was genuinely surprised when he saw Masaki, a Quincy, arrive. It may not be according to his plan, but he definitely had no problem taking credit for what Ichigo became since he kept Kaname getting her out of the picture. I do wonder if the white hollow was drawn to her because her reiatsu is stronger than Isshin's. It would explain why Ichigo has a huge reiatsu as well and why the hollows were drawn to him at the beginning of Bleach.

I think it's the Quincy side of her. I don't even think Ichigo has developed that yet. He still feels for his enemies. But then again, Ishida's that way too. Maybe it's the older generation of Quincies that were more ruthless in their dealings with hollows. I can definitely see Ryuuken do the same thing.
