I'm living in Japan and you can't get good British food here. They think roast potatoes should be done by cutting a raw potato in half and putting it in the oven. >_<

Anyway I was out with the folks down by Bournemoth, and despite the weatherman ominous predictions it did NOT storm *hooray*

I love everything about Britain, all the little oddities that make it worthwhile, like a system of government that is enjoyable to watch (house of commons/lords is friggen hilarious most days) the complete flouting of logic in favor of tradition :P

and the optomistic attitude of all the ppl here, its really nice when 90% of the ppl you see are having a good time, despite the weather

England in a good country....depending on where you live...
I live in SouthWest London and a day doesn't go by where some one doesn't gets hurt on the street.
Places like Peckham, Brixton and Camberwell is full of violence, you feel unsafe walking the streets even during daytime.

I agree with you here, no matter how violent Britain may be (even with the terrorists threats), It is still a great country.
lol the Goverment may be enjoyable to watch, but try learning British Law like i do in College you will not believe how hard it is to control this country!

What do you feel about the Smoke ban?

Ay i've heard "deep south" London is no go area , i'm a Shoreditch lad (born in kenington though)

But ya its violent but everywhere in the world has its hotspots, and "hopefully" this will eventually be sorted out.

The smoking ban: Personally i love it (dont smoke, and am asthmatic), ppl can go outside to smoke, most do, and i dont see many complaints so its all good in my book

The smoking ban started in Scotland in March 2006 but I don't smoke so I wasn't effected. Plus I moved away so I could stop hearing all my friends who smoke complain about it.

They had little areas outside the pubs for them to smoke in and a lot of people went even in the freezing Scottish weather.

The goverment gah it makes me chuckle cause half the time they have not a clue what there doing xD. It does look hard to run but if they hadn't have made mistakes in the past i doubt it would be as hard to run but i aren't gunna say no more i don't study law.

Smoking ban is great. Smoking just makes me cough even just a small tiny smell of it and i have a coughing fit. I dunno if am allergic to something in it you know. Am not asthmatic though i think i should be with the amount of crap in the air. I like it anways cause you can go places and like me not have a coughing fit xD. I love all the little signs everywhere xD they even have them at my Sixth form college even when its been banned to smoke in there for years O_O. I think its just to warn parents you can't bring cigarettes on the site and stuff.

Yeah people will if there that despirate for a smoke they will. Its cause of all the cravings and stuff. WHy its so hard to quit apprently. Never smoked in my life though and don't intend to so no idea how hard it is.

Where i live aint really violent its the citys i find are most in what i say the "Ghetto areas" and stuff. Most of the time its drink driving or just mad drivers. Too much road range round here. Why i am dreading driving >.<

Very nice! I have seen it on tv but never been. I have only lived in and around London. My family moves a lot. I have lived in Spain and America also. I like London the most I think because of the shops but it would be nice to see more of this country.

I wish it was snowing here D:. It's just unbelievably cold, and we get the odd usual rain every now and again lately. I'd much prefer snow than what were having now though, because then the school would close =D

Yeah 'd rather have snow. Everywhere around me is flooded but luckily i aren't and its going to rain in the next few days on constant for me. Which isn't good I'd rather have snow. So much ice though today i should have just brought Ice skates nearly feel over at least 4 times walking >.< Probably wasn't the best idea for me.

Nothing cancels my college NOTHING. Even when we had those really bad gale forces we were still in but got sent home an hour early which meant nothing to me as it was a free lesson for me and i was off home anyways >.<. Tis stupid. Only time it closes if the boiler or pipes break. Think i might pay some kids to go sabotage it for me XD.

Ours hasn't closed even though it's snow all over and everyone who lives way up the dale can't get in...
They tried to send the people who get busses home early yesterday, but they left it too late and the roads were closed, so we couldn't go home until they were cleared and the crashed cars got sorted out << there were chrashes on both the roads up the dale. So basically we went home at the usual time in any case. Our school administration is useless.

Aww, that sucks. Whenever it snows here, basically all the schools in our our just decide to automatically close, even when it's not that heavy. Unless were already at school, then they wait till a certain point in the day and guess weather it's going to get bad enough to leave or not. It's silly really, but no one complains because it usually means a free day off to play in the snow xD
God knows what would happen if it ever snowed really bad though lol, the whole system would properly go crazy for a few days @_@

Wow that sounds so much like my college its actually shocking. Occured the other day was flooding everywhere around me and we were taking exams but there was like 5-6 people missing because they couldn't get here just to floods everywhere and roads closed because of crashes. Admin's rubbish here too could run the place better blind some days. Here is one of the members of the protesting group in my college so much crap we deal with its unbelieveable.
