Yea, same here, best animated fight ever i say :D did anyone else notice, 99.5% of the time, they actually drew the teeth on ichigo's mask? :O the speed of it all was so kickass, hope the rest are this good.

Indeed, they haven't messed up with Ichigo's mask in this episode. This episode probably has the best fighting animation yet shown in Bleach, that new track at the beggining was truly awesome and perfectly fit with the environment, i have to say i'm impressed at Grimmjow's release here in the anime, since i thought it wasn't that big deal in the manga. Next week looks like normal basis episode, the fight will be resumed i guess, and fillers will start. :(

Jaw-Droppingly Epic! This episode was fan freaking tastic! Sure there were a couple of things I thought they could have improved on but that would been nitpicking... Oh when Grimmjow release and that rock music played I couldn't stop smiling XD

The next episode looks good too however I'm concerned that they kept Ichigo's eyes black through the entire fight but they go back white after he is hit with the 1st wave of Desgarron....

EDIT: At 12:43 anyone think the animators made Grimmjow look as if he were prancing? ^_^
Man when Grimmjow 1st got cut and all that blood spilled out I questioned if this was really Bleach anime XD

Easily the best in my opinion. Consistently excellent music choices, animation quality above and beyond Soul Society the whole way through.

No complaints. None.

Not to mention, they used the awesome song from Soul society when Ichigo protects Inoue and Nell from Grimjaw's weird elbow attack.

this was my fave fight in themanga, now it's my fave fight in the anime too.

the animation was amazin and the whole fight just flowed and look amazin too.

sucj fast paced physical fighting is what i like to see, not nergy blasts.

and grimmjow is so cool.

Definitely agree with you here Tari. One of my favorite fights thus far in the Manga and now the Anime.

Hell im gonna go out and say that this is probably the most well done fight in the Anime so far. The flow of it was amazingly well done, fast and to the point. None of the stop and talk or extended reaction scenes. there was a good sense of ACTUAL FIGHTING and choreography to it, none of that EXTREMELY CHEESY sword bashing we always get.
The music was decent mainly because it wasnt entirely comprised of shit we've been hearing on repeat for the last year.

and the Ending was damn good.. Sudden... but Damn GOOD

WOW! this was the best episode in this whole arc the animation was superb it was very well made......Who am I kidding that SH*T WAS EPIC!! I cant wait to watch it one my PS3 later heh I'm going to make an avatar for all the good shots of them. Oh I always thought Mira Rose was gonna have color but it was far better than I expected same goes for all their anime looks except Halibel why did they make her orangish:headscratch? Eh whatever I only got 2 complaints and thats Orihime's face looked weird in the beginning like it was too roundish and they messed up once on Ichigo's mask. With that aside I give this Ep a 10/10 too bad the next episode wont have great animation I was hoping it would ohwell.

Know episodes like these make me wish Bleach was an OVA series kinda like Hellsing Ultimate then we wouldn't have to worry about it catching up with the manga and we'd always get top notch animation*sigh* I can only hope.

Finally, they actually mamaged to outdo the manga in alot of this episode, if only the rest of the anime could had done that.

Only a few poses from the manga i'd like better and the clips from other episodes. But the fighting Wow Nice, was surpirsed to see mira-rose more taned but it suits her, and seeing how love nor gantenbein were darker skined but not in the manga, it should be no surpise.

This one is one to dl when subs are out :-D

Wonderful episode : good music, great animation, beautiful moments between Inoue and Ichigo (not to forget Nel)... It made me love this fight even more (which was hard since it's already one of my favourite fights).
I really love Vizard Ichigo's voice, the two voices overlaying sounds great. Ichigo's mask was well drawn too (it's not always the case).
As both chapter 166 (Shirosaki vs Byakuya) and episode 166 are great, I declare 166 my favourite number !
Easily one of the best episodes, if not the best.

i actually started watching this at home, got to around 11 minutes and had to go to school. saw the rest of it at school in computer class... i was glued to the screen and didn't care i was at school watching anime!

anyway, story aside, color me impressed. they did this justice. i loved the new music and also the old ones they used. the animation was awesome. Orihime's face did look weird at a certain point though, but i was happy with the mask. i need to get the subbed. also, the Orihime part comparing Ichigo to his brother is new/filler, right ? or they added a lot more than they used in the manga.

oh well... didn't like much what i saw in the preview. but i'm happy with 166.

lol MKV's don't have the subs hard-coded to the video; they can be turned on and off.

i personally use winamp coz i've fallen in love with Version 5.xx coz it's just bitchin...but u gotta do some cosmetics before it plays.

1) download and install the Combined Community Codec Pack (http://www.cccp-project.net/)

2) in winamp, go to preferences > plug-ins > input > nullsoft directshow decoder (double click) > add (;MKV) to the end of the list.

3) start > all programs > combined community codec pack > haali media splitter settings > options > compatibility > autoload VS filter (YES)

4) download VSFilter 2.38 (WITHOUT INSTALLER)
Free-Codecs.com :: DirectVobSub 2.38 : DirectVobSub is simply a DirectShow filter which can be used to display subtitle (http://free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm)

5) go to C:\Program Files\Combined Community Codec Pack\Filters\

6) replace the VSFilter.dll that's in there with the one u just donwloaded.

wow...by far one of the best eps in a while...animation wasn't always consistent and some scenes were extended but overall, this was a great ep. the SFX are what did it for me, and the scenes as well. plus that background music in the first three minutes made that much better. and even though ichigo's mask was mediocre in some scenes, there were also areas where IMO they completely nailed it. only thing i didn't like is one of nell's fraccion was made into a macho-looking woman that even looks darker than halibel.

Okay I need to say it in this thread too. I saw the new episode and truly, it's some insanely smooth animation. Very pleasant to watch and really brings out how fast and flexible Grimmjow is. I have been waiting for something like this and was truly afraid that they would ruin this fight but I was very pleasantly surprised. There was some awesome new music too. (Or at least I think they were. Haven't been that active anime watcher all the time.)
In some parts art could have been better but in overall it was good enough for me :D

This episode is amazing XD I echo everyone else's sentiments that every episode should be like this! Flawless fighting, excellent music, fluid animation, and wonderful detail! Even the things that were added in, like flashing back to Sora and little nuances like Ichigo calling out 'Hime's name before protecting her were well placed and certainly added to the episode.

I also thought Orihime looked beautiful throughout the ep. I was touched when she started crying XD

Blahh, too bad we'll probably be stuck with the same quality junk as before again, but at least this one episode had godlike quality.

The brother part wasnt filler...it was in the manga.

The anime added Ichigo saying Inoue's name before he blocked the spikes I think.

Yes, Dattebayo is doing a similar thing with Naruto because TV Tokyo aired the newest Shippuuden episodes in letterbox (wide-screen) format.

I can tell you right now it's a troll. MKV + 1920x1080 video + 7.1 surround sound will be way larger than 170MB, beside the fact that Bleach doesn't even air in 1080p. Most people's computers wouldn't even be able to play such a file properly.

As expected, great episode. Usually after the breaks and on the big fights, they never disappoint. I never expect the quality to say, but it's nice we have theses eps done well. The new music mixed will with the show. Great use of the old music too. Even the good Bount music was used. :D I enjoyed all the new angles used both in and out of the fights. Really nothing that noticeably bad about this ep anywhere.

Like the old saying when it rains, it pours: When it's good, it's great. To bad it doesn't rain more often.

EDIT: Yea, the .mkv version is a troll. Don't download it. Lets not bring it up and anymore k? That's called feeding the trolls and it's exactly what they want. Ignore them.

The HDTV one i can understand, because its the same size as the regular, so how can it be better, better quality takes up more space.... but i dont think the fact its mkv have has anything to do with it, im downloading anyway, see for my self, ill tell u the outcome, wont be too long, its downloading at 350kbps.

Well I finally watched it on my PS3 and it was awesome the animation and the transitions from the manga panels into anime was great. Man I wish all episodes had this level of animation or something similar heh Its more like I dont want to see crappy animation like 163:facepalm. This episode was OVER 9000!!:P(10 out of 10) and I got the anime Version of the avatar I was using actually there are a couple great Vizard Ichigo avatar spots I'll check all tomorrow. It too bad the next episode wont have this same animation I guess we just have to make due with what we get.

I almost did when I saw the troll:p Oh and do you have a fast ISP or is your DL speed that fast because of something else I remember I heard you can open all your ports or something. lol i was actually extreamly suprised at how fast it hit 450 (it hit higher afterwards XD) cause normally my ISP is the shittest ever and throttles my bandwith not to mention my internet should be slow anyway because of the old copper line for the internet in the street that the council wont replace... But i didnt actually farward any ports XD it actually had the red sign saying no or limited connection... fine if it ment, your only getting 450kbps instead of 550 lol.

Ohhh, lovely episode. Totally exceeded my expectation. Especially how they make Ichigo moaned in pain after receiving the Grimmy's Grinding Grenades...and that he actually was in pain. I also loved the parallel done for Ichigo and Orihime's brother. And i loved ........

the music in the ep was amazin. i 4got to mention that.

i've never heard any of those songs b4. it was refreshing hearing brand newsongs, with brand new, amazin animation, for the greatest and most hyped (so far) fight.

it was the bes episode ever for so many reasons.

i don't see why any1 like spacecat wouldn't love it.

Yay, one of best fighting episodes in bleach ever.

there was a lot of blood, que animation was great and the music was perfect.
And I liked Inoue's flashback and the episode finished in great style.

I loved the Shinigami Golden with Yachiru and her nicknames.
I wonder what will be the next Shinigami Golden story.

This episode was just perfect!!!

Released Grimmjow looked absolutely stunning. His release animated FAR exceeded my expectations.

I am impressed, to say the least. The animation was superb, the pacing was great, the soundtrack was outstanding, and the parallel to Inoue's brother was unexpected and an extremely interesting and intriguing add-on. That small change gave the episode the necessary emotional factor.

I truly wish that there was a way for fans to express there gratitude to the animators (and everyone else involved) in a more substantial way, simply to let them know that we would absolutely love to have more episodes just like this one.

P.S. It is just me, or did the previews for the next episode look a lot less quality than 166? Did anyone else feel this way? If so, then that is very unfortunate...They should at least finish out 167 with the same quality before they plunge into Filler in 168.

Yes, the quality for the next episode doesnt look as good as this week's. Which is understandable because different animators work on different episodes. I cant imagine this week's animation team making two episodes in a row. In fact, this episode had some shots where you could clearly see it was done by different animators; look closely and you'll see.

Aah, finally got to see this episode. Everyone's been hyping so much about it, gotta say my expectation had become high for 166... but it's not as awesome as I expected it. Still a good episode of Bleach though. I like the colours of this episode, except for Grimmjow's ears (too green).

Speaking of Grimmjow, the animators must love him, he looks good in almost all his panels and his movement are fluid (though the Pantera in my mind moves more fluid than that, like a male Soifong). Even Ichigo doesn't move that good animated. But as a fighting episode goes, nothing still tops my favourite, Gin vs Hitsugaya.

The best thing about this episode, I think, is the music and sound. It builds the mood in a superb way, especially during Orihime's tearful cheering. I gotta admit I LOLed when Orihime suddenly went glowy, it came out of nowhere, but the music helped me to take it more seriously. Otherwise, ROFLOLglowymaiden. Also LOL at the Pantera Roar of Power™. Soundwave zanpakutou fits Grimmjow just right. If only he had an electric guitar. Right now I want to listen to Suwabe Junichi singing Grimmjow character songs.

Ah yes, the colours. The colours remind me of the episode that had chapter 237, Orihime's goodbye to Ichigo, which had the best art in a Bleach episode so far, as far as I recall. I guess the same team worked on this episode. Or not, because Orihime in this episode looks a bit weird. They don't really get her face expressions as good as they get Ichigo's.

I really like Grimmjow in this episode. Hi hot and sexy release rules. <3 I just hate how his green ears look too vivid and fluffy. It stands out more than in the manga. Still, the episode was epic.

Ichigo's mask was awesome, released grimm was awesome, fight awesome, loved it at 10:43 in the DB download, ichigo was really shown as hichigo in this fight.

9/10 as the animation was a bit off at times, but who cares XD

lol MKV's don't have the subs hard-coded to the video; they can be turned on and off.

i personally use winamp coz i've fallen in love with Version 5.xx coz it's just bitchin...but u gotta do some cosmetics before it plays.

1) download and install the Combined Community Codec Pack (http://www.cccp-project.net/)

2) in winamp, go to preferences > plug-ins > input > nullsoft directshow decoder (double click) > add (;MKV) to the end of the list.

3) start > all programs > combined community codec pack > haali media splitter settings > options > compatibility > autoload VS filter (YES)

4) download VSFilter 2.38 (WITHOUT INSTALLER)
Free-Codecs.com :: DirectVobSub 2.38 : DirectVobSub is simply a DirectShow filter which can be used to display subtitle (http://free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm)

5) go to C:\Program Files\Combined Community Codec Pack\Filters\

There has always been different groups of animators for bleach. It's like they alter through for shifts or just for certain episodes. Some of the animators aren't even japanese. At least the good ones come out for the potentially good episodes.

The second "new" track that plays around the middle of the episode is actually from the second movie's OST. The one playing during Grimm's release is the one that's actually new to BLEACH. :)

they just talk for 15 minutes in a 25 minute ep. the other 10 minutes is a shooting energy blasts, screaming and a tiny amount of combat.

I'm kind of 50-50 on this episode. I loved how some shots were slowed down, and I even liked the angles. The music was even used perfectly. However, I really disliked how the animators drew Grimmjow's released form. It just seemed so... cartoonish and NOT cool. *shrugs*

My favorite part by far was the ending. The gradual fading out after such a quick and surprising scene was BRILLIANT.

And is it just me or was this episode TOTALLY IchiHime? I don't remember it being like that in the manga. xD Then again, that chapter seems like it was released so long ago...

Depends on your POV I guess. I really liked the episode overall. I loved how Inoue finally had it drilled into her head that Ichigo is the same in Hollow form as he is normally. As far as romantic moments go, I'm sure you COULD say it was, but if it was romantic, it wasn't the most romantic in the anime/manga to me. Inoue comparing Ichigo to her brother was, dare I say, weird?

Then again you can't expect such a long running show to have animation quality on the level of TTGL, Cowboy Bebop and Musashi Gundoh.

I don't have huge standards at all. I have high standards yes when it comes to the first timer release of Grimmjow. Remember the Rukia vs Aaro y Niro just a few eps ago? all of the episodes with them fighting/talking/laughing/remembering were plain out gorgeous. Now, when they show Grimmjow (and not just Grimmjow but Doldonnii and all the others releasing, they look like utter crap. Yeah, it's true, Grimmjow looked good the first 20 secs when they showed bits of his newly transformed body but that was it.

Talking about the eye-searching part..too fast, too computer-like, too DBZ, too non-Bleach and definitely too NOT GRIMMJOW-LIKE!

Btw, DBZ isn't all about fighting, look at all the Goku vs Frieza episodes which are about 50 of ' em and they are usually talking etc. too. This episode just felt like DBZ but especially because the way how Grimmjow was drawn/animated in certain scenes. I could see Vegeta in him and that's most likely not possible...and not talking about his personality here.

I dont see whats the problem with that though.. I mean, it's not like Ichigo was flying around at the speed of light and Grimmjow was "eye-searching" him. He was just looking to see where Ichigo was because he couldnt see because of all the dust. There's nothing DBZ about looking for your opponent. Im sorry, I just dont see how thats out of character at all. To me, it just sounds like youre looking TOO much into stuff. -_-
