In responce to Syn's post i think that Byakuya was on some kind of Mission which landed him in the Rukongai area and he saw her defensless in Rukongai and decided to help her by taking her home and healing her up to the extent he could and thus fell in love with her.

Either that or some thieves tried to use her to get over the sort of SS wall barrier as it were and Byakuya was on a mission to stop them or something and he sort of got her out of the mess and felt sorry for her and took her home.

Sadly I don't think we will see him until after this arc...le sigh. Unless he comes to Hueco mundo which I don't really think will happen...but who knows. So many great characters have been left out this round...including ones actually in Hueco mundo ><. Maybe one day they will make a movie or an OVA about how Byakuya met Hisana etc...I doubt it >< but they should XD.

I'd make sure more myself but am lazy, at college and i kinda come on here to die after college xD. I'll see what the weekend brings but with cw no chance with banner etc making.

Anyways back on topic.

I agree i think he will be in the "winter war" which i am persuming will be the next arc (if hes not Kubo will be getting a 1047547957659 hate mail essay). Even Rukia was near death and no sign (le sigh) but i guess he said you can go your choice i am not stopping you and allowing her to spread her wings a bit. I hope he will be involved in some big fight to be quiet honest. Him and Gin fighting would be amazing.

I so wish that would happen i think that story by far needs touching on (because i love it so much). I mean theres not really any mention between the two apart from the fact Hisana was a rouge from Rukongai who was very ill and Byakuya married her. Basically nursed her until her death and thats it. There gotta be more seriously. BYAKUYA AND HISANA the movie. Gah that would make my Bleach life seriously. Even a 1 hour ova would be good too. Just something. Its own side story manga ANYTHING!!!

Bya may be featured in this arc but maybe wishful thinking from Bya Fans ( Moi) . He demonstrated what big of Tsundere he is once again by giving capes to Renji/Rukia . Who knows he maybe pacing wildly in Seireitei worried sick about his Imoto.

If there is a mini arc I am praying out of Taichos Shiro doesn’t feature, he has been already been overused and its time the other Taichos got the limelight

I was thinking that but if he was like that wouldn't he have turned up to save Rukia you see thats what got to me when i thought about it in that light. Then i guess that would have been obvious. He may but i doubt it will be anything but brief his appearence. Though like Yamamoto said they will only get involved in the winter war and Byakuya's got the same inuition as him. Inoue means nothing to Byakuya so why go to the place where she is being held? I think he beleives in Ichigo and Renji enough now after rescuing Rukia to go out there when he can be training for the winter war.

How much i am gagging to see him in the manga (really i am i have had to re read and watch re-runs of epis with him in gawd am mental), i don't think there is any need for him yet until the winter war. I would love him to save Rukia but hes already done that to me from Gin and from Kubos POV that would be so obviously.

Just will have to suffer longer. Least this story is interesting otherwise i probs would have lost it xD

I'm hoping to see more of how Byakuya's relationship with Rukia has changed. From the way he found a loophole so she could go to Hueco Mundo, he's already become less rigid. I'm interested in seeing if he'll actually try to be a good brother--and in seeing what his perception of being a good brother is.

Yeah i totally agree. He will come into it somewhere. I hoped more in this arc but he let her go so i doubt he'll come after her he does have a level of trust for her. I think he does secretly with Ichigo after helping him realise that saving Rukia was more important than obeying the rules.

Yeah he has become less rigid like i said i think he has a higher level of trust and repsect for her now and Hisana he knows would have wanted her to be free like a bird doing what she wanted because Hisana never could do that.

Hmmm i dunno i think he does kinda but in a strange way. It's kinda like its ok for you to protect Rukia kinda way. I think that would be because they grew up in Rukongai together. Though you see him look down on him as well but i think thats because he wanted him to make sure Rukia stayed out of bother which i saw a lot in the first 2 arc's.

I was pleased that he let her go to Hueco Mundo, and not particularly surprised, but MAN was that a gesture of trust. Faith in her abilities (as well as Renji's and Ichigo's) aside, Hueco Mundo is a HUGELY dangerous place where they're vastly outnumbered. For her to let his precious little sister go there, in the face of that danger...well, it's a big step for Byakuya. I would love to hear about his thought processes at home while they're there. (Fic anyone?)

Yes so am i, i think he needed to let her go on this trip and prove to him that shes capable of going and being ok. Though yet were still to hear from her. I doubt he will come though. If he did it would make my week because the brother/sister bonding is so cute!!!! Kinda like what Rukia and Hisana would never have that bonding. I bet he would be worried about her of course and maybe regretting his decision a bit because he swore to Hisana he'd protect her. Though he will want to trust her and he will beleive in Renji and Ichigo (yes even a little for good old Ichi).

I think he was confused in that arc of what to do and needed Ichigo to show him saving Rukia was better than letting her die. I think now he wants to protect Rukia and allow her to do the things she wants to. Hes a little rebel now :P

No I didn't like his cold side. Although it was understandable he was so cold after explaining the circumstances around his marriage and his promise to his parents. But it's like he was so deteremined. Kill his sis by his own hand? WTF? Although I think Ichigo did help him realize that following the rules without thinking about why the rule is in place isn't the best way to go. Although I doubt he will ever admit that that was thanks to Ichigo. OK I like him a little bit better. This is helping coming here.

I was thinking about Byakuya some more, and I realize he wasn't always a cold jerk. I mean first of all he was a rebel for marrying who he wanted (yay!!!) and got a raw deal when she died, and to carry out her last wish. So dealing with his greif for her, the hurt and greif over his parents and the fact he has a mini look alike of his wife running around and keeping it all to himself is what probabaly turned him stone cold. If that was true, Byakuya wouldn't be capable of beating that Pivaron Espada Ichigo fought at the beginning. Byakuya is on the top of high-mid tier captains, meaning there are very few that are above him (such as Yama, Ukitake & Kyouraku). If that comparison was true, Aizen would have sent Ulquiorra alone to Soul Society to eradicate them all unreleased.

The image of Byakuya that Kubo has made will not allow him to loose, no matter who he fights. He is yet to be taken to his full potential.

Personally I think he's more than capable to fight evenly with the strongest Espada(meaning from 6 to 1 ) Proof : According to Kubo Tite Hitsugaya is weaker than Byakuya but he managed to defeat Luppi who was Nr. 6 at that time pretty easly. While I don't think that Luppi was as strong as Grimmjow , I still believe his going to be one of the pivotal players in the winter war . Not to mention he and most likely the rest of Gotei 13 are preparing for the upcoming fight by training so I'm pretty sure we'll see some amazing power-ups. Also my greatest wish is to see the Shinigami surpass that so-called limit that Aizen talked about without the help inner-hollow or such. :D

I don't mind the new Espada and stuff but i agree the lack of Shingami is kinda anoying me just for his sake. I think he could end up with Ulquiorra as well but then again i feel that it may be just too obvious to pin him up with him as a final battle so i will just hold court and see what happens. If they did there would be a great battle between the two.

And what diamondedge and Michsi you said was right everyones looking at the power through Ichigo which is from my eyes so wrong to do because:

1. His power is still unstable and working its way up - so how can you compare someones power that is unstable to Byakuya who cna clearly control it.

2. Haven't they been "training" for this winter war - So obviously there working their power as well now they know the power of the espada is quite high and wouldn't stand a chance if they didn't.

3. If Hitsu can keep up with Luppi and after training more - I mean Luppi wasn't the strongest guy but still if there training and what not am sure they can keep up with the pace of 1-6 surely.

4. Byakuya is one of the top fighters - And i doubt Kubo would make some pansy fight out of it wouldn't be worth the paper its written on.

Besides, Byakuya had that fight with Ichigo won.there is No denying it's the plotkai that saved him. even when Hakkuteiken was shattered ("My sword was shattered by free-spiritedness of yours"), Byakuya had enough strength to flash-step away and later on take a death blow from Shinso, while Ichigo collapsed due to exhaustion.

Byakuya just needs a reason to fight. Not only main characters are allowed to be held back by their inner doubts! :)

I always liked Bleach because of it's drawing style, interesting plot(until now anyways) and brilliant characters, but I'm usually the type that gets hooked on one single character and starts watching a series only for his sake. My unending curse is that I never get attached to the main character, most of the time it's a secondary character which I never see enough of in the story. The same happens here :cry

While Ichigo was determined and had an important goal in front of him that fueled his strenght, Byakuya , because of his promise, was forced to fight for a reason he probably abhorred.


There are plenty of reasons for me to believe that Byakuya will have other roles than just fighting in the winter war:
First of all it's his relationship with Rukia that still has improving to do.(My inner fangirl demands some canon brother/sister fluff)
Secondly, his conflicht with Renji. While his vice-captain may not have the same reasons for wanting to fight him, he still harbors the desire to surpass him. (am I evil if i wish for Renji not to win :D )
And this is something that's been bugging me for a while. The story from Renji's point of view is that Rukia was taken away (and he let her go blah blah) But if you saw that special chapter , that showed Renji's, Kira's and Hinamori's at the academy, there was that scene, where he met Rukia in hallway.Talked to her and then left , before she even got the chance to finish what she had to say. It's that panel where she looks as if she feels abandoned by him that got me thinking . It probably wants to show that they drifted apart because he went to the "special class" and she didn't. SO my point is that he has no right to judge Byakuya, if he started carring only when he couldn't have her anymore.

Thirdly, if you recall Byakuya's fight with Ichigo , when he first brought out Senbonzakura Kageyoshi he said : "I have only shown this senkai to the ones I have sworn to kill with my own hands. You are the second person to see this." And knowing KT he is not the kind of author to leave us in the dark with who that first person is, otherwise I don't hink it would have been necessary to mention that. And maybe that person isn't dead yet:) .....meh alot of hoping and rambling on my part......I might end up beeing so wrong in all of them :D

Hahaha, it's the same with me! :D i can never get really attached to the main character no matter how awesome he is. Mostly, because main protagonists are made so a lot of people like them - simple with friendly and angsty personas, whereas those really deep and interesting characters are always pushed in the background. >_>

Agreed. Until today I have no idea how is he able to hide that enormous emotional burden from everyone day by day. I mean, he was torn between promise to Soul Society and his parents that bore and raise him and the promise to a woman he loved.
I think it was very hard for him and I'm glad he realized that he should follow his heart instead of rules.

If you read the manga:
Isn't that blush on her cheeks absolutely CUTE? (ch 247)When she tells Ichigo that it was Byakuya who gave her the mantles for protection in Hueco Mundo? Not to mention he secretly allowed her to go there to ave Inoue! :) I'm really looking forward to what he is going to do with Ichigo and Renji when he finds out what happened to Rukia there.

He won't, trust me. :) Byakuya's character isn't made for loosing to the likes of Renji. He has shown his superiority to him several times and Renji does not posess characteristics to surpass Byakuya. Reenji dedicated his ENTIRE shinigami career to surpassing Byakuya. He possesses the skills of a captain, yet Byakuya can dominate him so effortlessly.
His fangs will not reach Byakuya.

Yes, Renji thinks that Byakuya took Rukia away from him, the only family he had left. Honestly, I'd think so too. especially when he heard how coldly Byakuya treats her (Chapter 59 - "In over 40 years I was adopted by the Kuchiki family, not once has that person (Byakuya) truly looked at me".).

Renji loves Rukia and of course it was an additional turn off for him. He thought Byakuya would give her a family they never had, but it was painfully obvious that she is not happy there. I don't blame Renji for thinking this way. Honestly, I would have probably done the same.

But seeing Byakuya taking the death blow for Rukia, KNOWING Byakuya was willing to die for her at that moment and hearing his confession probably changed his opinion about Byakuya, that he is not as heartless as he appears.
I still doubt he fully understands why he acted so distantly towards Rukia, I think he knows that Byakuya really cares for her and that she is in good hands.

What Rukia feels for Byakuya is a whole different story though.

While Renji will never stop working towards surpassing Byakuya, I think that deep inside Byakuya has Renji's utmost respect. :)

Of course! i want to know what this was all about SO MUCH! And i also want Senkei taken to it's full potential. While Byakuya had the chance to kill Ichigo in that form, I don't think SSKY has shown much. Especially because it's supposed to be more powerful form of original SKY. :)

Like a lot of the characters could star in their own manga in an alternate universe--like they don't just exist to be supporting characters for this one. (Even if they really do.)

Btw what I forgot to say, about Byakuya not fighting at full strength. although I think it has more to do with pride than anything else, is that he could have used Senkei Senbonzakura Kageyoshi to kill Ichigo by having every sword attack him all at once. He even said it: "Relax ! This thousand sword funeral procession will not attck you all at once." You could clearly see the "oh sh*t" expression on Ichigo's face :D

True, even I thought about that possibility or simply to make the reader understand how strong Ichigo is through Byakuya's statement. But still, I just have a hunch. Like I feel that we will know more about Yoruichi's and Byakuya's tag or about Byakuya's relationship with Hisana. I think that KT is the kind of mangaka that really loves his characters and likes to to give to each of them a detailed background. I think that is one of the reasons he does the omakes.

It could be Isshin or he could be refering to Yamamoto because they do have to show their Bankai to him unless it isn't counted then i think it will have to be Isshin. I think that because Byakuya has shown a more colder side to Ichigo more than anyone else so could just resent the whole family. It makes sence in a way i really can't explain. I could just see Byakuya and Isshin in SS being the pain that never got on. And if he was a captain i think Byakuya could have had something to do with his banishing. Gah its hard to explain but it make sence in the head of mine. If it isn't then it will be quiet a shame. Yeah and it doesn't mean that persoin dead otherwise he'd have clearly stated something like "And they clearly suffered the fate with it" or something along those lines.

And then there's the mini-flashback in Hueco Mundo that Rukia has on how she & Renji were actually allowed/able to go there. And once they get there in the anime...it's...no more Byaku-sama...*bawls at meaningless existence*

Unless they decide to do a couple random SS fillers at some point. Which I actually wouldn't mind, as long as they included all the awesome people like Byakkun ^__^

As a paltry offering of love for my esteemed lord and master, I re-wrote and expanded a vignette I posted on my blog a month ago. In its present state, may it be deemed worthy of notice by the heir of the most noble house of Kuchiki.

Sulky Girl by Laurie Bunter

"Look at me, damn you," the waitress said, exasperated. "You forgot your change again."

"I said you could keep it," the noble said over his shoulder, shrugging the woman off at the soba shop. The shabby place was now his favorite lunch spot -- for reasons he could not tell anyone.

His condescension for her poverty was too much for her pride to bear. She would have nothing of that today, especially when it made her feel worse about herself now that she had no one to care for. Not today, on the anniversary of the night she abandoned her baby sister.

"I don't need your pity!" Hisana hollered. Without thinking, she threw the loose change at him, clouting the stately Shinigami soundly on the head.

The shower of coins clattered to the floor.

The restaurant, usually alive with noise at this lunchtime hour, grew deadly quiet.

"You stupid bitch!" The owner berated Hisana. The old man shoved her from behind. She fell, her knees scraping against the uneven tiles. "You're fired for that. I apologize, esteemed sir..." The man began to babble and grovel at the same time. "Please, Captain, don't..."

Byakuya turned around slowly, an impenetrable look in his deep eyes. "Sorry? The word is inadequate for that offense."

Hisana froze, her toes curling in fear. Now she's done it. The man was going to kill her for her insolence. It was going to be an easy death. He was a Shinigami.

Byakuya faced the girl. It's been a month since he started eating here surreptitiously, dodging both curious underlings and colleagues in order to savor a few fleeting moments of her profile and study her graceful hands and spine. She had taken no more notice of him than any other customer who wandered into this greasy spoon. He felt like a guilty child, caught with his fingers grasping for a precious toy that belonged to another world.

He finally took the courage to look into her luminous face.

The cherry blossoms in the courtyard of his soul fell down in one swoop, made by the wind stirred by her single raised eyebrow.

Byakuya knew then what he had to do. He held out his half-trembling hand and helped her to her feet.

"This place is no good for you,” he declared icily. His murderous tone was not lost on the owner, who shrank and stepped back, staring warily at the Shinigami’s sheathed zapankutou.

“You're coming with me," Byakuya said to her in a low tone.

Mesmerized by his lack of self-control, Hisana began to remove the soiled apron she was wearing. She did not realize she had just given her consent without a word.
