Decorated, infatuated, masquerading
With false pretenses, standing strong
Bandaged wounds, with a heart bleeding

Dauntless, fearless, courageous
His mind racing from his gun's sing-song
His hopes were dashed by the outrageous

Betrayal, dismayal, confused
Crumbling the letter sent from home
Arm to arm with his comrades, mentally abused

Broken, Soft-spoken, concealing
His mind plagued by the words whenever alone
Sitting in the dark, overwhelmed with feeling

Emptiness, avarice, dark
Wrapping his lips around the cold steel
Falling to his knees, hitting his mark

Another dark masterpiece from Luhy :D
here is my interpretation:
John goes to war, forcefully doing his duty although his mind is actually not that strong. His wife marries other man, and send him a letter about that. Wrapping his lips around the cold steel

cold steel=gun? suicide!!!
case closed lol

yup yup Shini XD Mel told me "Dear John" letters aren't a popular term outside the US, so just for clarification~ a "Dear John" is usually a letter a guy gets from his girlfriend or wife ending their relationship for whichever reason ;x he pretended to be strong and stay, and kept serving his usual duty but ended up having to eat a bullet because it was too much x.x

Nice poem - Simple, dark and with a sharp ending.

And I DID get the Dear John message.p --- Dear John letters were the kind of letters one would usually get during war time, saying a lover or waiting wife has fallen to lust and eloped with another man - Let's say it was the "It's not you, it's me" of war time.
