'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' got second seasong coming..

Couldn't find this mentioned anywhere obvious(it better not be hiding in some random thread :p) on this forum so figured I'd post. Looking forward to a second season of this :)



No rumor, this time it’s official — the August issue of Newtype announces that a second season of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) is coming. Kyoto Animation’s got Lucky Star and Clannad (at the least) to finish up before it could start, so the earliest we could expect it would probably be around this time next year. (or maybe not.. MOON PHASE reports that it seems that KyoAni’s schedule has the second season this fall or winter, followed by a light novel work that hasn’t been announced yet, then Clannad the fall of next year). The second season should get into my favorite volume of the novels, Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu, so of course I’m looking forward to it (as a Yuki Nagato fan).



Seems Konata’s quite happy about it as well. Looks like the Haruhi website will be updated on Tanabata (July 7, the day that the Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody chapter in Suzumiya Haruhi no Taikutsu takes place) with the second season announcement.

:P I'm a bit skeptical to believe it firstglance, we've had many "supposed" haruhi second season dates that never went through, and the newtype scans show the haruhi game that was in production so it might also be that. But there's supposed to be official word on the 7th so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Posters on the Japanese 2ch board report that the August issue (officially on sale July 10) of Japan's Newtype magazine has revealed the second season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Sweet. I loved the first season, even though I still haven't finished it. I can't wait to watch more of the SOS Brigade's antics.

BTW, I think the new season will actually come out during the fall of this year.

The second season of Haruhi is no longer labeled as a rumor, it is really going down. To celebrate this event haruhism.com has put up a promotional video. But not an ordinary 10 second teaser showing the main character doing such ambiguous acts like flying naked or standing on top of a very tall tower. No, this is a 22 minute long promotion that will make you question your very existence after sitting through its entirety.

Basically, the video is taken from a bunch of security camera’s as they cycle through Haruhi’s school at night time; on July 7 2007 no less. In some of the shots you see different, live-action versions of the characters supposedly depicting a famous scene that will probably appear in the next season. I’m not really sure what to make of this, but hey its Haruhi; did you really expect a normal trailer? The rest of the video is after the jump.

Or at least thats what I heard. Looks like some kinda game though.

It also seems there was a full page B&W newspaper ad about the 2nd season. People estimated it cost around 39,855,000 yen ($323,000 US) for the ad.

ANN announced that the parent company of this anime will be announcing a second season. It seems logical considering they pushed Clannad back to 2008. If it's all true, I'm going to be a very happy boy.

I wonder if season two will also be broadcast in anachronological order. Season one was so confusing until I actually figured out that the order was "messed up".

I actually went back and watched the series again, in the correct order, a couple of times actually. Doesn't really take away much either way. Both ways work. Always nice to see events in the order then happen. :D I would expect the second season to do something the same. Or maybe they will try and throw us off and do something else entirely...

Wow, this is really exciting! I watched the videos and they were very interesting if you'd read the light novels. But it's going to be good seeing more Haruhi and especially Kyon!:inlove

i read on Anime News Network that they cancelled the second season of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu to make way for a new series entirely with Haruhi as the main character.

please tell me if this is just a disgusting, vicious rumor. :cry
