Okay I hope this is the right section. Title says all. How did you first come across anime/manga and how has it lead to your current addiction....:p
As for me, my very first manga was probably doraemon from a long time ago xDD. But it was just something I read for fun as a kid. My very first anime is sailormoon xDD. Something I looked forward to every week, although I couldn't follow it through and through.
I found out that I really liked anime when they began showing more anime series as well as having an anime marathon on tv. I still remember watching "Ninku" and "You're Under Arrest" as well as "3x3 eyes", "Fatal Fury" and others as well. These are dubs btw, it's amazing now that I think about it how I wasn't turned off at all xDDD. During that time, I started reading some manga like Rurouni Kenshin, 3x3 eyes, Detective Conan, Kindaichi, Ranma 1/2 and some others. Never got to finish them though except Rurouni Kenshin. I then took a short break before getting re-hooked when I started naruto and bleach about somewhere after july 2005.
What about you guys? ^_^

Pokemon was my first anime but Inuyasha really opened my eyes for the genre as it was more serious and emotional.
As for manga, I never really read much of it until Bleach came along.
First animes were... *thinks*
Galaxy Express 1999
Astro the robot
Captain Harlok
UFO Robot Grendizer
I grew up with a lot of animes *never liked Candy Candy though...* as the French loved that. Later on I loved City Hunter (although the dub makes you laugh because it's pathetic). The French dub for Hokuto no Ken is quite known too since they tried to make it pass for a young audience anime XD so it ended up in bad jokes and lots of cuts =)
Hokuto no Ken had been quite a strike though since parents complained and they stopped anime altogether. I got back in the anime vibe with Escaflowne and in mangas with RG Veda and City Hunter. It never really died though and now it's really, really popular.

I suppose it would be 1990 or something like that, where i first saw "Ginga Nagareboshi Gin"(Censored version though)
THough i didn't know it was called anime back then, first discovered that in 2003 when Dbz startet airing and more attention to the area came from friends.
I startet watching anime on the computer out of frustration over the extremly low quallity dubs we get here(yes generally dubed for far less money then the english dubs, so for DBZ i think it was like 5 people voicing the entire show)
Not to forget the reruns, but never finishing the series, how they randomly toy with the sceduels of anime on tv, and how they made series targeted at teens and older into kids series...
This was why i stoped following the shows in Tv, and now I watch like ½hour of Tv a week.(lots of time by the pc though)

The first anime I downloaded was Shaman King its feels very nostalgic. The first anime bought was Robotech back in 03 . The first anime I ever watched would be Speed Racer . I thought it was cartoon back then.
a dutch friend of mine got me into it :3

I used to watch dbz as a kid, first it was dbz, then sailor moon and it just grew from there :)
This thread makes me feel old. The first anime I watched was G-Force or better known as Battle of the Planets. I then had a strange magical girl show which was like Sailor Moon but with flowers and only one girl. It was called Flower Angel.
Then I got to see Akira and was blown away, it was so adult compared to the kiddy style ones I previously watched.
First actual manga I read was Ranma 1/2 my local bookstore was so small it never had any comics so I was so glad to read some. Though I thought the plot and idea was strange I loved it. Been hooked ever since and had to buy videos and books were I could. Put up with all the bad dubs and thought nothing about the cuts or never finishing stories.
Now it's so simple...just download it.

im the only second generation anime fan ive met... my mom came before me and i inherited her anime genes. ive been raised on this stuff so i cant honestly say what my first series was since i dont remember :P soooooo long ago. some of my earliest anime memories were Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999 (it gave me nightmares as a little kid LOL), Mysterious Cities of Gold, Lupin III and several of the early Miyazaki films. when i was in the 5th grade, my mom introduced me to Akira XP and that movie was really weird... i was even a bit creeped out by it XD to this day, i still dont like it, though XP lol. i have images in my head of other anime i remember seeing on VHS back in elementary school or earlier that my mom got from conventions. i cant remember the titles, though. i bet i could find them if i looked through the "anime cabinet" though >.< its a large cabinet full of all my mom's old anime VHS tapes >_>
my mom's version of the sex talk was to show me an anime with a nasty scene in it :P i dont remember what movie it was, but it was weird >.< and i NEVER want to see it again LOL
i dont actually know at what point i started considering myself a real anime fan, though... maybe i still dont >.< it always just seemed like a part of life to me XD like part of the daily routine. it wasnt until after i got out of homeschool and went to a public high school that i realized that maybe my idea of anime wasnt very common. i honestly thought that everyone watched it LOL just like little kids watching Disney movies 8D i was incredibly surprised when i found out my friend's mom was absolutely against anime XP im why my friend got into anime. she used to sleep over at my house every weekend and we had so much anime lying around and she watched loads of it through me XP. the first couple times were really awkward because she was all "WOW" at all the anime/manga at my house and in my head, i thought "what's the big deal?" since i didnt see anything special about it XD its just always been part of my life.
My friend introduced me to DBZ.

I kind of decided I would try to watch anime, I guess because I started hanging out with a lot of Asian kids, and I remembered a friend off handedly mentioning that he downloaded something called Naruto. So I searched for it and became addicted, and that was the first time I stayed up all night catching up to a series.
Pretty much a snowball effect of Naruto to Bleach to One Piece to 20-30 series beyond...
I've always hated DBZ though. It made me swear to never watch anime when I was in 6th grade. Well look at me now... -_-
the first manga I read was way back when I was a little kid and the dragonball mangas were the thrend (not just for manga/anime readers, for everyone lol xD)
From then on I read and read and I became a huge DB fan =D ..at some point, about at 12 years old, I finished reading all the mangas (there was digimon and pokemon also in between but..meh).
At that time, I started spending time in forums and such and heard stuff about mangas and anime and the like, which were popular as well...
Then one day at like maybe 14, I came across a library and there was mucho mangas!! since I had to stay here for awhile, I decided to read a little of manga randomly. So I started reading a random tome of Rurouni Kenshin (because it was one of the titles mentionned in forums, it was pretty familiar ;n_n) and liked much the little I read =D
...Then It kinda went downhill and me ish there now xD
