I am currently working on an ichiruki doujinshi called "Before the rain left off" based on chapter 181 "And the rain left off".

It is still currently in process.
I'm still drawing concept arts and storyboarding now. For the actual ones,I haven't even draw up to the Ichigo and Rukia scene yet. It will be about 80-100 pages? haha. Yah, version 1 has at least 80 pages so...

I actually planned to post it only after I completed it but after much much pondering, I decided to post it now. I actually have abandoned this project before cos at that time, i went through abit of depression and writer's block and decided to give up my dream to be an artist for good.
However during the times without drawing for a few months, it pains me so so much that I made a decision of not giving up my dream anymore. It is possible to follow your heart and dreams and be happy while working hard to make a living.

And the very first thing that come to my mind is to pick this work up again. It is still a little painful to pick up drawing but I hope during the process on working this, it will give me back the courage, the faith and the motivation.:)

And I managed to rewrite the plot and the whole script for version 2 so this work will have a lot of my feelings in it too.

Here's a preview to see my drawing style like(pages not in sequence):
http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/523/p1copypa5.th.jpg (http://img229.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1copypa5.jpg)page1http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/3402/p8sv5.th.jpg (http://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p8sv5.jpg)page 8

I hope you will all enjoy my little baby and please look forward to it!

EDIT(24/2/08):
I have to put it in hiatus as I am planning to make this into a Trilogy with this being the 2nd of the Trilogy. So that's why I have to put this off as I need to do the 1st before I can do this one! By the time I am typing this, I have changed the script and the plot of this for several times.
Don't worry as I will put the 1st in this thread to share.
But I think I would took a long time to update so very VERY sorry. :che

wow!
it looks alot like real bleach you know...

if your supporting the shuuhei x rangiku paring then i'm asupporter btw...
if its kira x rangiku then *meh*...but i dnt hate it.

anyway i'm lovin your drawings. the whole concept seems so much like kubo's style aswell.

kaya
11-15-2007, 04:47 AM
tari101190: haha, thank you so much. I purposely draw it in Kubo sensei 's style, with a little more shoujo elements since this story is written more towards shoujo than shonen. I always change my drawing style depending the kind of genre I'm working on. However, my own drawing style is very similar to Kubo sensei's now cos I keep picking up his drawing techniques. Kubo's sensei drawing is really very good and have improved so much since then. He has one of the more beautiful drawings I saw among the manga I read. One thing I do realise is that Kubo sensei is not good with background, so do I. Landscape drawing is my weak point so I will try my very best to draw my background in great details to show the beauty of Soul Society.

I never really thought of pairing Rangiku with anybody in this work. But I love her partnership with shiro-chan,I mean, Hitsugaya in Bleach. Hitsugaya may not appeared in this work unless I made the drinking party disturbed him while he's still with unconscious momo. I try to squeeze a lot of people in there as much as possible for humor and cameo. I am still thinking who should I add...
As much as I love Renji and Byakuya, I can't really seem to find a role for them in here so most likely they won't appear, unless in flashbacks.(Anyway,I planned another doujinshi with Renji so that's why I thought of not putting them here. They can get their spotlight there.) Same with Squard 11 but I think I may draw Yachiru due to the women shinigami association.

Actually, i didn't draw Shuuhei that much in ver1 but i found his attraction to Rangiku funny and I wanna make a joke on him and Kira so I expanded his part cos I like him alot, esp after reading Bleach official bootleg and watching Bleach Rock Musical.

In term of pairing, I think Rangiku can get paired up with anybody. LOL. But I like her with Gin, although I don't think they will end up tgt. I think they're going to fight each other.
I like her a lot and so does a lot of men in SS. Lol.

Again, thank you so much!!!
And you are the 1st to post! hehehe:)

Woah! It looks awesome! :D Your drawing style is good, and even though I have dial-up and 80-100 pages will have to be looked at at the library, I'm really looking forward to it!!

Oh, and BTW, are you going to put it up for download, just post the pics under spoiler tags, or sell it?

I've seen people to all three.

kaya
11-15-2007, 01:09 PM
CrystalRaindrop: Thank you so much, sweetie! I will work hard.
I am doing this for fun so I'm not going to sell it. I will just post the pic in spoiler tag and when I finished everything,I will put it up as download and will include cover and some coloured pages, concept designs process. Then you don't need to go to library to read it. (:

A BLEACH A DAY KEEPS YOU GAY ALL DAY!

Draw one sketch of Bleach character(s) every day and post.

You can draw a picture of a same character every day, set a theme, or just go about your day drawing one each day.
At the end of the week, gather the pictures and put them in chronological order, and post them together again as one.
At the end of the month, gather the pictures you done gathered for a week and post them together again as one.

Feel free to comment.

"A Bleach A day" is a creative catalyst that encourages people to find beauty in the mundane things we do every day. In the hustle bustle of everyday life, being creative in a limited amount of time can be a daunting prospect. For those moments when you've hit a creative wall and still aren't sure whether you should go around, over or under it, completing--or even just reading---I hope viewing this project can tear you away from the task you've been struggling with and help your creative mind get moving again.

Likewise, this project is a humble tribute and utmost dedication to Kubo Tite.
Thank you, Kubo. You have changed my world.

KAYA! ICHI!!! NO WORDS! Navi has no words! :yell

How could you?! Make him so gorgeous that I cannot express the gorgeousness in words! I cannot compare! :cry

I want MORE...MORE!!!

Ahahah, ok seriously, Kaya, whenever I think you cannot surprise me with more brilliancy then you already displayed with each of your work, you just prove me wrong again and again. Ichigo...is just pure FTW. As someone who has tried and failed miserably at drawing him, I can really appreciate the time and effort it must have taken you to get him to look so gorgeous! And I am ssooo jealous you got his hair right xD

And 15 minutes?! :yell...what tools did you use, btw?

Miyona:
No worries, as I will be drawing and experimenting everyday,so you bound to different characters, even the rare ones we seldom see. Unless I am that obsessed with a particular character or I am doing a theme, most of the time, I would be doing different characters.
Thank you for your comment. :hug

Naviae: Oh, I leave you speechless. HEEHEE :che
Don't explode,my girl.:hm:yell I still need you for me to :hug and make me gay.

I have to thank you again for making a sig from my drawing. That's such a honor, and you made it look so much nicer.
:wtf
SQUEEEEEEEEEE.
I shall steal it then.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA *evil laughters* COUGH*chocked on laughters* :yell

I used Copic pen 0.3(Copic brand is the best!) and Chinese ink. I am accustomed to draw Ichigo so I can just draw it out with the pen without sketching with pencils first.

Thank you for your comments, Navi-chan. :)

Ice-cream is definitely one of the greatest thing in the world!Yum!

We gotta start things in a BANG!
And then Pow!
Here's come the first sketch and the logo to celebrate the birth,
Kurosaki Ichigo, the main character of Bleach.

He has always be the icon to represent Bleach and we know how much Ichigo has endeared Kubo by the amount of drawings and writing he has done for him. Definitely, it is distinctively apparent that Kurosaki Ichigo is Kubo's most favourite.

Certainly, Ichigo is also the Bleach character I drew the most and I am most confident in. I love Ichigo so much, that words enough couldn't describe my adoration for him.

I realized that most people has problems drawing Ichigo's hair. I used to have this problem too, as his hair would be out of proportion and would look extremely hilarious. Another thing would be how to capture Ichigo's expressions correctly before you portrayed him as "Kon" in his body. I gave him a soft look here, not his usual "scowl" or "smirk". I think Ichigo undergoes so much changes that he grows up from a misunderstood teenager to a confident man, thus the softer look.(Okay, that's rubbish. He is still a boy!:yell)
Okay, let just say I wanna see Ichigo smiling like this more. At least I didn't make him "shoujo" so don't complain...:hm

I like doing things when everybody is sleeping.

This is my first time drawing Bya-kun.
Oh, he is such a joy to draw. :love

Slender and gracefully delicate in build, he is bestowed with tender features that would take anyone's breath away like the mind-numbing sight of the first sakura petal that is destined to fall and tear at your throat.
That is my impression of Byakuya when I was putting him down to the paper. I don't like his white headpiece, kenseikan so I didn't put it in, so that his hair would look a little more... wild. :love I have nothing against his white scarf, but I also didn't draw it as I wanna see more of his skin, and his neck and....:love

I would definitely be drawing more of Bya-kun in the future. :love

"Since I am starting this project, mind as well get a sketchbook solely for it."I told myself, so I dug out a old faded sketchbook that I have bought it years ago. I don't know why, but I seem fond to have this mindset that I can never have enough sketchbooks and love to buy paper to dump in my room. So I just buy,buy and buy... and then leave them to rot with the dusts. Boohoohoo.
http://i32.tinypic.com/2rps2v7.jpghttp://i31.tinypic.com/2j43fo3.jpg
So I just do a simple silly sketch on the cover and the cover behind. Woohoo.:love
I did a stuck-up!Ichigo and dorky!Rukia because I like them looking and acting that way. It looks so silly.

Blaaaaaaaaah. I want to play. This is a drawing referencing off an old drawing that referenced off another drawing that referenced off an Elizabeth Taylor perfume ad. :rotflmao This should be recognizable as Orihime. Took almost nine minutes on the tablet.

It may not be noticeable, but I am really a big fan of Chad.
He is the type of guy I wanna marry to in my real life. :che

Anyway, I spent an awful long time at him as I have problem doing his hand and in the end, I still screwed up. HAHAHA. I also made a mess of his hair as it looks like a whole pile of bee hive or.... shit.
I ruined his face before I managed to save it with shading. The font, "DIABLO" looks so ugly as well. Kubo is extraordinarily good with typography as well.
I actually find myself more enjoyable doing characters like Chad, Kenpachi, Mayuri etc better. They have more unique features and grab my attention more to capture them more correctly, and most people can't do those characters well. HEEHEE

I did so many boys. Time to do the girls!

A simple guide:

How to Paint Faster
As an illustrator, the faster you can produce images, the better off you’ll be. It means you can fit more jobs into your schedule, which is more money in your pocket. It will also help you hit your deadlines more easily, which is absolutely necessary in this business. If you find you have trouble with this, here’s a few time-saving tips for you.

Use a bigger brush.

Beginners have a tendency to use paintbrushes that are way too small. Use the biggest brush that you can stand using for whatever phase of the painting you are in. Not only will you cover more area in less time, but it will help the overall look of your image. Small brushstrokes tend to look fussy. A small brush also makes it easier to lose sight of the big, bold areas of color and shape that need to be established first, which leads me to my second tip…

Don’t fuss with the details.

Are you one of those painters that render, render, and render until you can see every minute detail? This is not only unnecessary, but it hurts the overall design of your image. If everything in the painting is rendered to the same degree, you lose variety of shape and texture. Concentrate on putting sharp detail only where you need it, most likely at your focal point.

Use good equipment.

If you’re a digital painter, that means staying up-to-date with hardware and software, which for obvious reasons, will make your work go faster. If you’re a traditional painter, this means spending money on good quality materials. If you use good paint, the colors will come out brighter and will be easier to mix; if you use good brushes, you won’t be spending precious minutes picking out the small bristles that fell out of your brush and onto your painting. It might be hard on the wallet at first, but getting the right stuff in the beginning saves a lot of time (and headaches) in the end, which is worth the price.

Plan ahead.

Taking the time to create color and value studies may seem counterproductive at first, but in the long run it will help immensely to help you paint faster. If you just go into a painting straight on, you’ll most likely spend most of your time “fixing” things as you go (unless you’re one of those people who can put the right stroke of paint in the right place on the first try). Do yourself a favor and solve your problems ahead of time.

Eliminate distractions.

I will admit that I am very bad at following this advice. When I paint on the computer, it’s hard not to get side-tracked by email, internet, music, etc. You have to find your own way of working around this; I find it best to turn off all blog readers, have your email program update by the hour instead of by the minute, and leave other distractions like TV or food for specific break times.

Just sit down and draw already.

43folders.com made a great post recently, highlighting artist Chuck Close. He said, “Inspiration is for amateurs. I just get to work.” So true.

When you get in this business, you have to realize that you’re not always going to be inspired and you’re not always going to feel like painting. However, when you depend on your painting for a living, you have no choice in the matter. If you can acquire the self-discipline to sit at your desk, easel, or drawing table and just get it done, it will be worth more than any other time-saving tip I can give you.

Practice.

Just paint, paint, and paint. As you do, you’ll get better at it. And when you get better at it, it’s easier to do. And when it’s easier to do, you can do it faster. It’s that simple.

I will tell you one thing, kaya-chan...those artworks just left me speechless. I already was at a loss for words when you drew Ashido. I haven't seen many take on the challenge of drawing him, so to see one, and of course from a talented artist as yourself, is such a treat. A beautiful tribute to him. And how can words ever express my absolute LOVE for your version of Inoue and Ishida. Inoue looks stunning and Ishi...well...:inlove

The colors for them are beautiful and compliment one another so wonderfully. And well, I already squealed to you about how much I love Grimmjow xD *pats Kaya-chan's head for screaming in her ear for nearly 3 minutes*

And I was ssooo happy to read your advice for painting. I always have had difficulty in this area, so your tips are very helpful and will definitely be used by me since I'm hoping to get more familiar with this area. So thank you for taking the time and writing it for us. :hug
