yeah, its been pretty much rock bottom the last few weeks, well bobobo-bo was below it but that was ending too =p I think it was only planned for a short run anyway though.

Its fun too see after all this while One Piece still is the most popular in SJ. Quite a contrast to the fandom here

Its too be expected really. The only two mangas of recent times that have had a chance to stand up to it are Naruto and Bleach. Naruto was ruined by the never ending fillers and that did have a huge effect on the manga as it turned people off it completely. Bleach has just had a bad run lately...meanwhile One Piece has just had one of its best arcs ever and is continuing strong at 460+ chapters.

Oh and does 32 have a OP colour spread? Trying to figure out which volume contains chapter 462 accompanied by this spread:

What does "one shot" mean?

It means it's just going to be one chapter long.

yeah, its basically a single chapter thats around 50-60 pages long, its often used by the magazine to trial a story idea or mangaka art to see how the audience reacts to them.

recent examples would be hitomi no catoblepas, which had a one shot in jump a while back before being brought into regularly serialization two months ago.

and the new series that will start next week in jump, sket dance, had a one shot back last year.

basically one shots are often an indication of what might pop up in jump if its by a new author, there was a particularly good one recently called asklepios that I thought was rather interesting so I'm hoping that'll be serialised one day.

Usagi is supposedly a really good manga, though I have no idea what it's about.

samurai usagi has had the most impressive start of a manga in jump for quite a while.

Its about a a 15 yr old character called Udagawa Gosuke who's actually married to the main female character, Utagawa Shino. She makes rabbit masks to try bring them a bit of money whilst Gosuke has inherited his father's dojo after his father was made to commit hara-kiri. He wasn't supposed to get it but his brother also commited hara-kiri so it came to him instead.

He's not got that much confidence but he practices his swordsmanship at a dojo nearby, but the people there are all idiots so he tries to invent a dojo and style of his own for people who just want to enjoy it, he names the style after the rabbit.

I wonder if Bleach will really be good. Last time it was well ranked, the chapter was pretty blah to me.

well the rankings are taken from 8 weeks back, so the chapter currently being ranked should be 274. We'll see what this week brings us though =p

Hitomi no Catoblepas doesn't seem to be doing so well. =/

this was Hitomi's first rating so it doesn't seem like its got off to a particularly good start, will be interested to see how it progresses. Hope it doesn't just slip down like volleyball has, fans of that must be a bit worried right now.

Also, D.Gray-man is in the top 5?! Amazing.

yeah, finally the ratings start reflecting the wind up point of the arc. Its been a long time since DGM was this high, it often has been stuck rather low.

odd that our hero research is getting yet another double chapter, I'm pretty sure that series won't stick around but its getting plugged quite a bit. Reminds me of the amount of hype blue dragon got from jump.

oh and before anyone asks, jaguar is always the last series in jump. That doesn't reflect its popularity at all ^^

Anime announcement for neuro is fairly interesting though speculated on for a while. Pretty similar stage to DGM, it'll be at about 12 vols when the anime presumably starts and ongoing. Might be the popularity boost the series needs, unlikely to do it any harm at least.

(Neuro is about a demon called Nougami Neuro who feeds on mysteries. However he's consumed all the mysteries in his own world so he has to come to the human world to feed himself. As a demon he can't just go around doing whatever so he convinces a high school girl to become a detective and he becomes her assistant. They solve cases etc and Neuro feeds off the mystery)

aye, bleach got listed in the cover spot because it has #1 placing + colour spread and colour page so it was an assumption which turned out to be innacurate.

(#1 placing in the issue is always showcase series that week, they almost always have the cover and they get a spread and colour pages)

Ah? I thought the rankings were based on past chapters. As in, the current chapter is ranked according to how popular a chapter published 2-8 weeks ago was. So what's being ranked sixth is some chapter towards the end of the Grimmjow-Ichigo fight or the very beginning of the Nnoitra one. And I'm wildly optimistic about this week's chapter. Go Nell backstory! Give us some Aizen (or Gin's good too)!

Well, Bleach have been #2 twice in a row the last two weeks. But I believe it's more due to Szayel than the NnoiNel's fight, actually.
And I thought it wouldn't be that interesting (the flashback chapter), but to be ranked #8 is even worse than what I thought it'd be.

HxH should have a true colour spread, given that it just came back after a so long pause.

If Bleach doesn't post them next week with the color spread, that means Bleach gets 3 color spreads in a span of six weeks. I don't think even One Piece gets that many in a few months.

Bleach doing good is nice, Seriously it's insane how oftend OP is no 1, it is it so oftend it seem more like fanboyish

Maybe its just more interesting than everything else on a regular basis. As far as Jump's current big titles (OP, Bleach, Naruto, Reborn, Eyeshield...maybe Gintama) go I think thats the case. The only one I cant speak for is Eyeshield since I dont keep up with that at all. Bleach has been in the red for a while, Reborn is getting boring and exciting stuff seems to be happening for Naruto fans, but from what I see the chapters are just SLOOOOOOOWWWWWWW. I dont want to go on about OP greatness or shit like that, but I think anyone who keeps up with the majority of them can see why it gets top spot consistantly.

Anything else in Jump rarely gets a chance to spring near the top spot, which is where I think the fanboyism would come into play.

Yeah i just don't see a general OP chapter outdoing the better Psyren chapters for instance, i know Psyren is new, but it's lame how OP is no 1 like 70-80% of the time -_-
That is what i call fanboyish, granted i stoped following OP at chapter 411 dur to getting bored of it, i never really entered it's fandom, I had normal respet for it at a time, but seeing how it's getting treated like the manga of the decade -_-

My problem with the Toc is there's few series i don't like.

I suppose were getting to like 1-2 chapters more of the match with the dinos in ES21 now, seeing it that high it must have had importance.

Psyren solid middle spot

S.gray and K.O sad to see em low, but when the series keep trading spots with to love ru and mx0 it should be good for em all.(no one look like a clear loser so less risk of getting drooped)

Maybe it's because the Hueco Mundo-arc was so lame. :headscratch Now, there was a plot twist and the next chapter are going to be very interesting, but all in all the Hueco Mundo-arc was poor enough to push the whole series down.
