I decided to watch it anyway, just played some music so it was like watching a long AMV ^^

Skipped through most of the flashback though, as it doesn't really work if you can't hear what their saying. As predicted the flashback contains a whole bunch of filler.

Rukia looked so sad when she got stabbed :( From when she decides to "fight back" the episode suddenly because beautiful in terms of the art. Aaroniero's explosion looked so cool, and after that it just looked so...perfect really...

And judging from the preview, looks like the next episode will have top class art too, which is GREAT news considering what happens next episode :D

@_@ Looks to be an awesome episode... at least from what I looked, the art and animation seem to be very good. Rukia looks just beautiful in this episode. The preview looks great as well <3 The art is perfect in that one, looking forward to the next episode too. The Espada were all nicely drawn. I'm looking forward to the scene with Stark and Lilinette. xD

But since there's no sound, I'll be waiting for the subs ^^

Yeah, the torrent's good, thanks for that. :D

Wow, what a strange episode this one was, with most of it set in the past, and only a bit of it set in the present. For the most part, it was excellent, and so very emotional. The animation in some of the more meaningful scenes was flat-out gorgeous, Fumiko, once again, did an awesome, awesome job, (gah, the "farewell, Espada" line was so intense) and I really liked the contrast between light and happy with Kaien, vs. somber and dark with Aaroniero.

There were some very, very weird/wacky scenes in the flashbacks though, made even more so by some of the sound effects :nuts; it seems that Rukia was a lot sillier in her younger days (zanpakutou juggling?), either that or Kaien brought out that side of her. XD It was so cute watching her smiling and frolicking happily. :wtf

I guess it does a pretty good job of showing how much she's changed (or hasn't in some ways, since she still sells herself short), and how much she's grown (but definitely not in height :p *gets shot*).

Having the scenes from the manga animated makes things so much more clearer, for instance, I had no idea how a hit could make Rukia's cloak rip apart (she should so get another one to accessorize her Shinigami robes with :p), and now, someone's got to change the entry on Wikipedia on her third dance, Shirafune once again, since now it's clear that the walls, and the Ruffle-car-goo-covered-floor (eww...) didn't start freezing over until after Shirayuki reverted into unreleased/broken state. (But what does it mean? :nuts)

That move of Rukia's was animated beautifully (the ice crystals!), and I wonder if Kubo will ever have her use it again? I also found it interesting that the animators replaced the scene of Rukia remembering Renji telling her that Ichigo broke into Seireitei with the scene of Ichigo actually appearing right before she gets executed.

That last scene though...from the manga, I got the impression that when she fell unconscious, she did it in one fell swoop, not gradually, like how the anime showed it, and I think it made the scene a bit less dramatic... but still, seeing her laid out like that with her broken zanpakutou stretched out in front of her... :cry

but at least she went out on a high note. In the meantime, I hope Kubo does something with her in the manga, before taking a break from the Hueco Mundo arc.

Looks like a great episode. No sound in the stream is really funny to me, being so picky with the music. :D As long as most are some good selections, I should have no problems. I like the old school bleach shading we see, if even for a second. Pretty sure that was some reused footage.

Maybe a little too much re-used footage, but it was very well done on the whole I think.

I especially thought the 'Third Dance' scene was perfect in every aspect... especially when she wakes from her flashback. Her eyes are glazed, there's sweeping piano music as she remembers the running through the fields and Kaien's face while Novena's laugh is heard faintly in the background. And then her hands shaking, whispering the attack and saying 'Goodbye, Espada' contemptuously... great voice-acting.

But I agree UniAniGi that some scenes were a bit on the wacky side... especially the first flashback sound effect @_@ and another thing that made me laugh was when she was flashbacking the people important to her... Chad... Ishida... her brother... then flashback Renji appears with a sort of comedy superhero smile. I think they could have chosen a more serious shot of him... @_@

Heh, oops... I knew I forgot something, I forgot to use spoiler tags in my last post. :o (Or is it no future manga spoilers at all?)

@Shandyla
Welcome to the board! I didn't see that that was your first post. :D Heh, it seems we agree on several points, and yea... that shot of Renji was kinda cheesy, but I guess it's how she remembers/thinks of him? XD
Awesome episode. (watched the one with no sound) Cant wait for the subs. Only thing left to see is if they picked the right music tracks for certain scenes. I was playing some in my mind as I watched this ep. ><
Some of the music selections were very good, the piano solo, and the one with the piano and violin are among my favorites, and they were fitting too. The animation team put a wide range of old tracks to use in this episode (some we haven't heard in a long time), as well as a couple of new ones (at least I think so, since I didn't recognize them, like the one during the recap). I think there were like...6 or more different tracks used in the entire episode, and that's a lot for 20 minutes.

And like I said before, there were also a lot of silly sound effects during the flashbacks as well, like at the part where Kaien smacks Rukia in the head, and she topples over. XD
Censoring makes vaizad0 sad though.
Censoring? There wasn't much, if there was any at all. There was no blood in the stabbing scene, even in the manga (what you see behind her is the sound effect). It's strange though... she bled a lot more from the cut on her face, than the gaping wound in her stomach, and Nejibana went all the way through.

Or are you talking about censoring something other than the amount of blood?
I like the old school bleach shading we see, if even for a second. Pretty sure that was some reused footage.
Yea, a few minutes of the episode are from episode 49, they've been using it quite a bit during the Rukia vs. Aaroniero fight. There are also a couple of scenes used from episodes 54 and 61, but I can't find where the scene with Rukia and the little birdy comes from (aside from the D-Technolife intro by UVERworld).

Even though I know most of what's being said from scanlations of the manga, I still can't wait to see it subbed. :yay

Shinrin
02-13-2008, 10:27 PM
I hope bleach will continue like it's been lately the scene extensions are great, they getting rid of the worst part of old part of rushing scenes to make em completely empty.
I'd like the censorship to go away, but if this keeps up I might one day buy the anime as well as i had originally intended.

But the fillers completely killed that, so good to get some spark again.

Only thing i found overdone was how Rukia killed Aaroeniro She talked way to much, and had far to much power left in her. She's supposed to just stabe it and it breaking apart, not stab then cut it...
Well some fan service i guess.

OK, after watching the subbed episode, I'm am more then willing to say that this was the most epic episode for me since the 139-140 combo. Everything in is episode was perfect. Flawless animation. Great music selections. Perfect timing and transitions for said music selections. Great voice acting. Just the right pace.

When episodes like 139-140 and this come up, it reminds of the way bleach used to be made every episode. Too bad they are few and far in between.

Let me be the first to nominate this Bleach episode for an Emmy for Best soulful episode to come! It had everthing in place. A steady flow of animation, pacing was fair, voice acting was exemplory, and the ending was dramatic! Episodes like these are what makes you cling to Bleach so hard.

What caught me off guard was the music. It was perfect. Simply put, it was the most awesome thing I've heard/seen in Bleach for a long time.

Wow, now that was a beautifully-done episode. Rukia's third dance scene is now one of my favorite all-time moments in the anime. The ice falling around Rukia, and her expression. Everything was just... perfect. Rukia's VA was kickass as per usual.

I think he was referring to a general sense: Aizen promised that if he/she/it followed him and served him, things would go well and Aizen would take over everything, and the Espada would be rewarded and would have a wonderful life, etc.

Naw, none of them were new. The one during the recap was first heard on the anime during Ichigo's fight against Shinji in the Vizard hideout.

But I believe (and I might be wrong on this) that that track is originally from one of the BLEACH movies OST. Speaking of which, many tracks from the movies have been used in the anime since the whole Arrancar deal started. Explains why the 3rd OST isnt out yet; many tracks have already been released on the movies' OST.

Well, I'm pretty neutra on Rukia - The flashback and everything was nice, and I can finally understand why Rukia's blade is complete in this episode but broken by the next, Shirafune's blade is MADE of ice, so it can actually have melted after killing Aaro (Squeezing my head of trying to keep plotholes away=)

My first comment on Aaro's screaming was "Someone please kick the football" - Good GOD! His voice was irritating (and hilariously funny .P) - Other than that, the episode was nice! Let's hope they keep the quality in the Szayel fights...

Wow this episode made me remember the feeling of watching SS arc. and the first arc. this was a wonderfully great episode. And after watching the Flashback part I really want those supposed coming Backstorys to be animated it'd be so cool to watch. I hope they use the Old music more in this arc I forgot how good it sounded for certain moments, it was funny that Noitora's sensing thing was explained in the preview. And after this episode I learned another reason why some people don't like to watch the Dub its because know matter what nothing can beat that feeling you get after watching a show you like for the first time.

Yea, things can get a bit stale the third time around, if you read the mango. Though, where the dub is now, I don't mind watching episodes again, at all. :D The music gives the same kind of effect at this episode. Just makes the episodes great.

when byakuya uses it then it must be way stronger right? and he fired that through ichigo's shoulder...ouch.

i liked this episode. Kubo's story telling of the chapters (in ep. 160) felt more complete and alive for me because i never actually imagined Rukia trembling and gasping for air and strength while reading the manga; that i realized, so it touched me even more. the voice of a child--AA's other skull--calling Aizen-sama for help is quite creepy.

Pretty great episode. The animation looked pretty good most of the time, and the last move at the end looked very well done. The flashbacks came out alright, the added stuff didn't seem bad.

Didn't like the change from a tentacle hitting rukia which removed the cloak to the current result, the kaien helicopter...oh and where's the water if he's spinning the shikai?

Hope the next episode turns out good.

very touching..
Since I love Rukia just too much I was almost moved to tears when Aaro pierced her.The flashbacks made me kinda sad Kaien is not alive.I'm sure if he was I would be an insane Kaien and KaiRuki fan.
Anyway,I still prefer tha manga version.Rukia looked pretty in this episode but still the manga is more emotional.(forget the fact that Will of the heart is really touching as well)
