I've been working on the Espada Project on and off for some time now, and I recently redid most everyone's designs after receiving some really thoughtful feedback (especially from folks in this thread-- thank you!). I decided it was a shame I hadn't drawn any of the actual Espada yet, so I thought I might draw them as shinigami... and then this happened (click for bigger):

ooi~ You're here too now?! (HPIM) I love your art. The Grimmjow kitty picture cracks me up everytime.

Yeah, Matsumoto... First time drawing her and I shy away from the huge boobs/ accidentally-on-purpose make her more realistic(relatively speaking). You're right, she's not true to model, and I'll do my best to fix her up next time. : )

I do enjoy your work, even if I disagree with your design motivations often.

It's still wonderfully moody, creative, and lighthearted, which is something I like in art.

The only thing that rubs me wrong is...

I disagree with your design motivations often -- just curious: do you mean the designs themselves, or my reasons for drawing them?

And I have to say, there are times when I look at it and all I can see are footie pajamas or hollow long johns, haha. But overall I'm still happy with it; his hollow form doesn't really give you much to go on.

Oh, by "design motivations" I mean the design elements that seem to inspire your work. excessive use of curves and arcs, with little to no straight lines, excessive use of dark lines in general, and of course, all the blue highlights.

These are things that, in my opinion, take away from a strong design due to being too common in your pieces. They are good and fine in themselves, but can quickly become a hindrance if overused.

this is not meant to be overly critical, just trying to phrase it to make sure I am clear this time. I really do enjoy the inspiration for the pieces themselves (arrancars, releases, etc) though.

Anything you have created and feel proud of should be recognized. It's obvious you've put time and effort into your colour and hand drawing of this fan art.

i really like line art, and i would guess that all of thos images started of as line art^^

you have a true form talent of the colouring of images, aswell as shading and lighting aspects.

you also have a wonderfull talent of making your images entertaining and fun to look at using colour and facial expressions^^

so i like your stuff, its really good and you shouldn't be put off and you should continue to post art like this on our forum to help bring just that little bit more fun and personalization to this site XP

Tsubasa-- Thanks! I really don't, unfortunately; I mess around with different coloring styles a LOT but don't really feel comfortable with any one in particular. : (

Primera Espada-- Seriously, thanks for pointing that out; it's the sort of thing I don't pick up on myself since I see what I do/am working on all the time. It's really really helpful to get an outside perspective on the stuff I do, and I'll do my best to keep what you mentioned in mind. : ) So thank you!
