I just had to make this thread as soon as I saw someone have "all the lights are blinding" in their personal message on MSN.
Oasis - Wonderwall
Massively overkilled x3 one of the songs everyone wants to play when they learn guitar. In 2006 some classmates played it on guitar in the classroom.
I'll be back to add more, just need to sleep................:p

- I will always love you - from the body guard (i forget the singer)
- Celine Dion - song from the titanic
- Areosmith - I don't wanna miss a thing
- Cindy Lawper - Girls just wanna have fun (i think thats who sings it)
- The Macarana
- Anything by ABBA
- Blondie - Heart of glass
- Take that - I want you back
- Robbie Williams - Angels
- Bon Jovi - Living on a prayer
- Brian Adams - Everything i do
- Gloria Gayner - oh damn the song has gone from my brain >.<
- Elton John - Circle of life and Candle in the wind
- Leona Lewis - Bleeding love
- Rhianna - Umbrella
- Soulja Boy - whatever its called (who cares really?)

I'd definitly say "Broken" with Nickelback and Amy Lee. It's about 2 years old and the radio STILL plays it every 10 minutes. "American Idiot" by Green Day was ridiculously overplayed.

Souja Boy ( Clearly I hear that song way too much. )
Im bringing sexy back ( I go to Casino's a lot and i hear it too much. )
Rockstar by Nickelback ( Almost every night club in second life plays it )
Tainted Love ( Okay when I first heard it I liked it but now it's like no ) -._.-
Those are the first four that are on my mind the rest will come accordingly.

Right now, since my neighbor has the radio on 24/7, it has to be "Sensual Seduction" by Snoop Dogg and "No One" by Alicia Keys. -_-

Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day - That song was played so much when it first came, and so many people were saying it was such a great and deep song. Any highschooler who just ended a relationship could have wrote those lyrics. It wasn't a special or deep song, it was a song designed for mass appeal, that tried to be sad and sensitive.

I mean songs like old classics and other overkilled ones, not just overkilled in the present day because every radio song gets that sorta of treatment. The song has to be in some kinda special category to be overkilled FOREVER
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
That is an ultimate overkill song, everyone plays it and uses it for some lame pump up anthem:p
MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This
Need I say more:p
Everyone knows it, it has to be one of the most famous songs ever. I sub-consciously used it yesterday:pyou can't help but know it.

Queen - Bohemium Rapsody, Don't stop me now and we are the champions
Anything from the sound of music (adverts LOVE THEM over here)
I remembered the song by Gloria Gayner it was - I will survive
Not sure on the artist - Sisters are doing it for themselves
Destiny's child - I'm a survivor
Aerosmith & RunDMC - Walk this way
Spice Girls - Wannabe
The Verve - Bitter sweet Symphony (thanks to the football)
U2 - Beautiful day (thanks to the football again)
THE FOOTBALL THEME SONG FOR MATCH OF THE DAY (Ok its not a song but here it gets played OVER AND OVER)
Oops up side your head - NO IDEA (gets played at like cheesy parties)
Ayumi Hamasaki - SEASONS, Dearest, UNITE, SURREAL and evolution
Le'arc~en~ciel - READY STEADY GO

Yeah, it was a funny song, but I can't help wanting to kill someone when I hear it.

Oh yeah, I think it was Right Said Fred or someone who sang that @_@ Totally agree to it being overplayed though.
Also agree to the Souja Boy song beoing overplayed too. We often listen to music in our PE class, and that song always manages to be played. Not sure why it's so great tbh...
What I find is always played is Evanescene - Bring Me To Life. Heard it way to many times.
That and The Fray - How to save a life. Everytime to radio is on I swear that song is played. I like them but.. not like played 24/7 @_@

def. Umbrella ella ella ay ay ay (kill me now its stuck in my head):cry
also that paramore song is really annoying now. don't know the name of it but u know which one.
Apoligize by One Republic, its a good song but playing it 5 times in one hour is ridiculous.
and Flo-rida's song.but really i mean any song with T-Pain, he is the epitome of overkill.
Tomodachi69
02-17-2008, 11:51 AM
Has anyone said low? I hate that song. Catchy for the first few listens, but I hear it every damn day on the bus. Also, Bringing sexy back and No one, as previously mentioned. I can't understand the lyrics in No one, either, which adds to my dislike for it.
From System of a Down, Chop Suey, Forest, BYOB, ATWA, and Toxicity were totally killed. So were Slipknot's Left Behind and that one song from their third album.

I HATE that song "Low". I can't believe they play that damn song in the trailer for "Step Up 2 The Streets". And NO, I don't want to hear about some chick in Apple Bottom jeans and boots with the fur!!!!!!! *head explody*

Anything by Avril Lavinge.
hmmm... most of what I had in mind are already posted, so I won't bother xD
I'd guess anything Green Day/Justin Timberlake/Rihanna and there was that lame hoobastank song that they kept playing in the radio a couple of years ago... >_> (not sure if it's hoobastank but w/e.. me not like so ya)
Wonderwall's also overkilled now.. (it's not even Oasis' best song imo)
Oddly enough, that what I think of most Green Day songs right now... especially "Wake me up when September ends"... very overhyped and overrated. Many people I knew swore by it and were like OMFG<3... but seriously, I thought it was crap (video was extremely lame too)

I believe Misery Business by Paramore is now on the list.

03-04-2008, 11:04 AM
I know it's not what you meant speed but u know lots of radio songs don't get the same treatment as the songs ppl are mentioning..many get played waaaaaaaay more than others. I remember in Canberra driving to work I'd hear that "Don't ya wish your girlfriend was hot like me" or whatever it's called and then on the way home I'd hear it also. It was like the station just played it non stop xD
Some oldies I always hear on the radio:
Led Zep: Stairway to Heaven
Bon Jovi: Living on a prayer
Beatles: Hey Jude
and on Aussie classic rock stations will they ever stop playing:
Farnsey: You're the voice
Farnsey: Paradise
that throw your arms around me song :yell and Holy Grail >_>
cheez
03-04-2008, 01:17 PM
I agree Beee almost any popular song form GreenDay or Linkin Park because when their songs get popular people never stop playing them on the radio and and on AMVs also. I think Linkin Park songs take up almost half of the music used for AMVs :rofl
spacecat
03-04-2008, 02:44 PM
lol cheez that is definitely true, them and evanessence win for most over used AMV songs :lmao

03-04-2008, 07:05 PM
Cause they earn like Thousands of pounds/dollars/euros/yen whatever to play a few songs OVER AND OVER until your that sick of hearing them you eventually buy them because its stuck in your head. One reason why radio has gone waaaaaaaaaaaaay downhill. So most of the top 40 these days are cliche and overplayed but mostly for a specific 1-4 month time period. Guess tis how music industry earns money these days.
People are just strange with AMV's but some are just AMV songs before you've even heard them so yeah I dunno.
^ ewww at my geeking.
I'd definitly say "Broken" with Nickelback and Amy Lee. It's about 2 years old and the radio STILL plays it every 10 minutes. "American Idiot" by Green Day was ridiculously overplayed.
True that Broken is an overplayed song but it was Seether, not Nickelback ;)
As for the most sth. songs, I don't usually listen to radio -other than my neighbours on Last.fm-, cause well, I guess my music taste doesn't match with DJs :p However, I, myself overplay some bands and songs that I end up not wanting to listen to them for a looong time, most of them being anathema, metallica or haggard songs >_< ;;
speedphantom
03-05-2008, 11:39 AM
Broken is a great song!:p
Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive
Eagles - Hotel California
Eagles - Heartache Tonight
Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
Crowded House - Better Be Home Soon

03-11-2008, 02:07 PM
My solution to avoiding overplayed songs has basically been to stop listening to the radio entirely :P In any case, most of the songs that get overplayed these days are the kind that would've annoyed me anyway, so it's no great loss.
I try to avoid overplaying songs I really like by only ever listening to albums, rather than singles.
Avarice
03-18-2008, 01:09 AM
Hey There Delilah (by the Plain White T's) has become the very definition of 'overplayed'. Or, at least in my area it has.
I Write Sins Not Tragedies (Panic at the Disco) also used to be incredibly overplayed. :/ They're one of my favorite bands, but they have way better songs than that.
"Fix You"--Cold Play
Really? Huh. I love that song, but I've never even heard it on the radio.
I luv this song.. but .. damn.. it is OVERPLAYED...
NO ONE by Alicia Keys
CooWings
05-05-2008, 02:58 AM
The Jonas Brothers - whatever song it was
Seriously, it's almost ALWAYS them on MTV. I don't listen to the radio anymore, so I don't know what else that's being overplayed out there although I'm sure there are tons.
CeriaHalcyon

THE MOST OVERPLAYED SONG EVER IS.......................
Sweet Home Alabama
Hiraeth
05-05-2008, 03:23 AM
Apologize, by Timbaland and those other annoying people. I swear Timbaland exists to make annoying songs. The Way I Are for example, even without the bad grammar this song is a pain in the ass. I can't go to a club without hearing both of these at some point. And I don't care what people say, you can't dance to Apologize. Physically impossible.
beautiful_death
05-05-2008, 05:10 AM
"Requiem for a Dying Song" by Flogging Molly :facepalm
"The Pretender" by Foo Fighters
Anything by Serj Tankian....seriously, each song sounds exactly the same >_<
Lilium
05-05-2008, 07:30 AM
At the top of my head prob "My heart will go on" during the Titanic phase. :lmao
I like the song (cause i like Titanic :3) but i reckon it was waaaaay overplayed :lmao
rayne_himura
05-05-2008, 07:46 AM
Jonas Brothers, SOS is the title of the song.. i think. soo annoying. :facepalm
i can hear it on the radio every 5 freakin minutes.
ok, right now the most overplayed song
"stay" by sugarland
seriously if you can listen to country radio for an hour and not here it its a good day
cornflakes
05-05-2008, 01:02 PM
O Fortuna, that classical piece. It's a great composition, but it's been murdered by 'inspirational' tapes desperately needing to inspire someone. You know, the Anthony Robbins type.

lol yes Timbaland is everywhere and in every music video and so annoying. that song with justin and furtado is also annoying.
indeed... Timbaland is everywhere... and Rihanna seems to be extremely overplayed as well. most of what she sings aren't even HER songs!!! ...at least that's what I heard.
And I agree with cornflakes.. O Fortuna is overused. It's good, but some variety wouldn't kill either. Definitely overkill'd >_>
And I remember that at a certain time, Fallout Boy was overplayed too (I absolutely HATE them) especially that song where they're in a High school ball (I never really watched the video so me knowing what it's about tells a lot).
Killers' songs aren't as overplayed as others, but they're definitely one of the most overrated bands ever. Their songs are not particularly bad, but imo they receive waaay too much attention/exposure for what they're worth >_>

Everything with Timbaland and Timberlake *_*
I hate 4 minutes the most :yell
Monsoon by Tokio Hotel is abusively overplayed in every radio station here, it's been like that for a couple of months.
The song is nice, but listening to it every hour gets tiring.

ahhh well back when i was younger i remember hearing Green Days When i come around being overplayed and The stair way to heaven and most of the dark side of the moons songs were overplayed in their days though i like these songs though. but today Fall out Boy and seemingly every time i turn on a new hits music station, also pretty much alot of rap songs with an okay beat seemingly get played over and over slojua boy was great example ehhehehjeh (shivers)

"Souljah Girl on the MARTA" >>> Souljah Boy. She has panache, and originality (even if she is crazy.
On topic, Lil' Wayne's "Lollipop" is the latest soulless hit on Hot '97 that makes my eardrums bleed. Songs like that are why I barely listen to the radio anymore.
Creeper
07-06-2008, 12:37 PM
Everything from Linkin Park and Evanessence
Well... not necessary everything but so many songs that I'm too lazy to mention them seperately. I never liked these artists anyway but what especially made me to despise their songs, was that time when I was watching AMVs like crazy. Linkin Park's songs are like the most overused ever. This soon caused it that I'll no longer even watch an AMV if it uses their songs.
CeriaHalcyon

Just about everything by the Eagles, Rod stewart, oh yeah and sweet home alabama.

I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry. It started out as a good, unique song, but when people started using it as their theme song or whatever, it got overplayed, and now, killed.
The novelty has worn off, stop being obsessed with it already!

I'm currently sick of "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis and "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock. It seems like there was one more but I can't recall what it was. :headscratch
Black Dahlia-True! :cookie
90% of songs being played on radio/satellite gets overkilled.
Especially if that station is Kerrang where every 20mins they will play a song by somebody like Linkin Park or Papa Roach.
And if we're lucky it MIGHT just be a different song then it was 20 mins ago.

Sensa_689
09-22-2008, 05:12 AM
LOLLIPOP by LilWayne - not only is it overkilled, it is also absolutely tasteless and dull. :notrust
I don't understand what people found in that song. LilWayne isn't even rapping in there, it's all just "shawty wanna thug"...crap, this slang really irritates me.:killu

09-29-2008, 01:25 AM
"what I like about you" seriously it is used TOO MUCH on tv!! (or at least it used to) there was a point in time where I heard it everywhere and it drove me insane! and what made it worse is that they changed the words around...EX: for the disney channel the used "what I like about toons" aaahhh! DX the list continues....
viperdarkness
10-12-2008, 06:15 AM
Disney's Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montanna, and sometimes High School Musical. though i don't really hear them on the regular radio, when you have a sister who listens to it on disney channel or radio and friends who also listen to it, it's overkill -_-;

Im sensing this thread will create a flame war sooner or later :XD
Id say of all time the most overplayed songs I remember are:
Wild Wild West by Will Smith - every time I went to the skating rink that song played. and EVERYbody had to do the shuffle skate :cookie
All Star by Smash Mouth - Literally couldnt go 2 min without hearing it on the radio. You could just hit the seek button all day and it would be a continuous loop of that song.
Every Britney Spears song - ooops...she did it again :facepalm
