Unicorn

It has come to my attention that some new members are sending Unwanted PM's to forummers advertising random things (like possibly dangerous websites).
If you get such a PM, please post the name of the sender here AND forward the PM to one of the mods to check things out.
Thank you very much.

Good job letting us know what's going on peoples. No need to keep this open. If anyone else gets any PMs like this, you have to let us know, by PM, so we can handle it. We will do our best to keep people here from being hassled.

Guys, this is really important...if you get a pm from an ad troll you must let us know. People are joining up and sending their ads via pm so that we do not know that they are a troll. Let us know asap if you get a pm like this.

Going to bump this again and keep it on top.
We have been getting a various amount of ad trolls recently. Please, if you get any kind of unwanted PM's from these trolls, let us know as soon as possible, so we can take care of them. We are sure there are some that we haven't caught yet.
Going to leave this open in case any one has any questions.

trolls usually have no sig or avy and no details, plus they only post a couple times, most of which is their advertising (if not all the time). Newayz it'd prolly be easier to look at the inactive ones and see how many PMs have been sent out or check the content of one of their PMs.

Yea, but that takes A LOT of time, that we don't have, plus it's a waste of time to hunt for trolls like that when you have nothing to go on. It's just a lot easier if people let us know when they get these ad PM's, hence the posting ect.

RangikuGirl send me one as well, is she really an advertiser, i mean I guess since someone else is reporting her I dont have to do anything?

Many thanks for reporting, guys. As I didn't actually see the PM, will have to let Velius make the decision.
Edit: Velius approved me to take action.

If you did, then please let us know by posting in this thread.
a ?
does putting some1 into an ignore list prevent them from sending you PM?
Velius

Yes, it stops you from getting PM's from that person.

In the future, who would be best to report it to? I assumed Velius is a Moderator due to the Purple Name, so I sent it to him/her. Is there anyone you would prefer having the PM sent to, or just whichever moderator is currently active on the site?
Velius

Yea, you can send the same PM to multiple moderators. That's probably the best way to go. Just pick a couple that are online and get it to them all at once.

I'd like to be included on that moderator list too. I'm always invisible but am online quite often during the day.

I got a random PM, but it seemed legitimate and linked to a nice bleach site. o.o
Velius
07-12-2008, 02:58 AM
PM it to me if you would please. Even if it is legitimate, it's still a bother and against the rules.

It happened to me the same as fuzzypig. What I realized is that the person who sent me the pm, just sent it to the four newest members that appeared in the main page at that time.
May I forward it to you, Velius?

Just put up a minimal postcount needed for PMing, if you can? I would say 3 posts is enough.

ShinigamiAlice sent me a random PM. idk who any mods are or anything as i only set up an account 2 days ago. If one really cares enough i guess PM me and i'll forward it back to you.

@Apsalar - Mods are everyone with a different user name color (Green/Golden/Pink). ShinigamiAlice has already been banned anyhow - So it's granted she won't bother anyone anymore.

because it signed up to BA simply to PM advertisements to other forummers.
We don't like unauthorised and sneaky advertising of random possibly dangerous sites.

Just recently read this thread, sorry for taking so long :-(, anyway, I received what I'm almost sure is a spam PM from a user named Bleach_Fangirl.

Yes, it has been taken care of. Thanks for letting us know. :D

I'd also like to add that we'd appreciate it if you reported advertisement posts that mods missed. I just caught two that were posted a few days ago, and people just skipped it. It's good that you didn't feed the trolls, but we'd like a heads-up about it so we can delete it as soon as possible. Thanks. :)

Oh I just posted this in the spam thread, bt I think it's best here.
"Sorry to not be Spammy for once but, I got a PM from a random person and I am sure you all got the same PM. I think it was a someone named Ally-Chan...but she has spammed all sorts of sites I am on to try and "Advertise" her site and she is getting paid to do it. Normally, I ignore her, but I am just giving you guys the heads up."
