Server Move and Downtime

Many of you may have noticed BA moving a lot slower than usual, this is because we have been using more memory than we were meant to on our server due to increased visitors to BA. We have been put on a holding server til we move to a new dedicated server.

This isn't really a bad thing since the more people that come to BA the better ;) however this message is mostly to inform you that BA will be having some downtime within the next few days while we relocate. The downtime should only be a matter of hours if all goes as planned. Don't worry if you come here and the site is down, we will be back soon ;)

No you won't notice anything different except BA will start going fast again (should be even faster) and there may be some downtime that's all.

Thanks for the heads up, I was wondering why the site has been slow at times. It is good to know that BA has been growing so much.

Tbh a server update's a pretty new thing. the space aloud on the forum then increases.

the fact that space has already mentioned thast this means, We're gettign NEW MEMBERS!!! *partys*


but will this server swap alow members to have more message and PM space in their profiles?

The move is to do with memory on the server not the hdd space, we have plenty of that now but we have to think of the future, over time it will fill up and then if we say to ppl we are cutting down your pm space and av/sig size etc they will just be unhappy so its probably best to just not do it from the start ;)

so does the server house the saved files fo the images and stuff we upload?

Yeah the database has all that in it, it will be the same as now but possibly some of the last few posts made before we go down will be lost, but maybe not. If it all goes smoothly people shouldn't notice a difference except the site will appear offline for a few hours.

Just for bothering spacecat; is there a confirmed date on the server movement?

I ask merelly because the current server seems to be at its limits... (at least for me)

the server move should come in by 13th, thats what the company told us. but apparently, they're screwing us over with this slowass speed a move anytime now would be most ideal.
dunno why they need so much time to transfer the domain. our files are already on the new server, we just need to domain transferred now thats all.

well, don't worry citizens, BA's move will be in only a matter of 1-2 days. after which, normal speed will resume ^__^.

quick question

i noticed that it seems like every ó has changed (and maybe all accented letters). I was reading throught a thread about numeros/fraccion and every ó is messed up, and its the same with the BA member KòjýSýS

fracción has become Fracción

at first i thought it might be just my computer, but this is the only website i notice it on, and i noticed it on computers:D

oh, yeah, regarding that, its usually relates to some servers not having complete character sets, so the symbols come out trash.
so what you can all do is re-enter the characters again. but it shuold be mostly working fine by now anyway.
