This is the home as well as the headquarters for most of the arrancar, including their ten strongest warriors, the Espada, led by Mircalla Zolmao. Players can use this thread to socialize, hold important meetings, battle, or anything of the like.
(Please be sure to remember this, like the division threads, is a location thread.)

It was a normal day for the Espada as he walked around the colossal corridors of the palace. He had no plans to go anywhere, just on his daily walk around the halls. His hands lay resting against his back, folded neatly against each other. As per usual with his walks his hands weren't occupied since he would leave his zanpakutou behind in his chambers. There was nothing to worry about in terms of being attacked and even then, he was quite confident he would handle it without the use of a weapon. Ryukei stopped suddenly and looked toward the window to his right. Emotionless sapphire eyes staring out into the open white wasteland. What was going through his head was anyone's guess.

Ever since becoming Nyarle's Fraccion and a member of her pack, Chrest had been feeling much better than he ever had in his life before. He had managed to make a recovery, and regain some of his confidence and courage. With every step he took down the whitewashed hallway, the necklace of gold around his neck moved, reminding him that it had been a gift from his new master. It brought a smile to his face. But that smile soon vanished as he saw someone else up ahead of him in the corridor. As he looked, he thought he recognized the Arrancar from previous meetings.
Oh, yes...he's one of the newer Espada. Ryukei-sama, I believe? He was sure that was it. He's had wine with Nyarle-sama, myself, and others.
“Good evening, Ryukei-sama,” the wolf called softly, hoping to announce his presence without startling Ryukei, who was staring out through a window. “Is everything all right? Are you well?” he asked, slowly walking until he stood near Ryukei without actually crowding the man.

The Espada sensed Chrest's presence before he even had a chance to speak. Ryukei turned his head and glanced at Chrest with a single eye. At first it seemed he was being approached by a random arrancar but upon closer inspection he recognized him. The last Ryukei remembered seeing him was when he encountered his now fellow Espada, Nyarle. From what he could recall, it was the one who seemed timid, but he couldn't remember if he was a fraccion or not. The Espada turned his body, and gave Chrest a light smile the same he observed others do as well.
"Good evening." Ryukei spoke in his usual polite, gentle voice. "I am well, there is nothing amiss. However, I do thank you for your generous concern. What are you doing here?" Ryukei glanced down at Chrest, not making any effort to close the distance between them.

Much to his surprise, the Espada turned and smiled at him. Chrest was honestly quite stunned, though he didn't let it show visibly. He tried to think, and couldn't remember ever seeing this man smile even once, and yet, here he was, smiling at a Fraccion who had decided to approach him out of the blue. After a moment, he decided to smile back and try to answer the question that had been asked of him. However, the answer was rather slow to come.
He wasn't there for any particular purpose. Instead of spending all his free time roaming around inside Nyarle's room or hoping to meet the other Fraccion of her pack, he had simply decided to step out and take a walk around Las Noches, perhaps see if there was anything of interest going on. That was really all there was to it. But so far, Ryukei was the only person whom he'd encountered. Everywhere else he'd gone, the corridors were empty and it made him wonder what was going on. Had he simply just not seen anyone else out of sheer luck?
Giving a light shrug of his shoulders, the wolf smiled again before speaking. “I'm just out for a walk, getting some fresh air and all that,” he said, giving the honest truth since he had no reason to hide it. “Although, I guess a part of me wants to stop by the kitchens and pick up a few bottles of red wine, so that Nyarle will have some whenever she returns.” He gave a soft chuckle.
Returning his gaze to Ryukei, he thought to ask the same question. “So, if you don't mind my asking, what are you doing here? You've already said there's nothing troubling you, and I'm glad, but then, you looked rather bored just staring out the window. Perhaps you would like to accompany me to the kitchens and procure the wine with me? Then we can share a bottle together,” he offered, hoping that such an offer wasn't out of line for the moment.

Ryukei's smile faded a bit, but it was still faintly there. Underneath the kind exterior,he stared down at Chrest with an analyzing glare. He looked at the way Chrest stood and thought, and it almost all didn't add up to his last conclusion. This time the mismatched skin arrancar didn't seem as timid, an update was in order. The way the fraccion just walked up to him and started talking was the opposite of how he acted previously. Ryukei took a mental note of this, and tuned in when the fraccion began talking again. The Espada's smile finally faded completely, he was getting tired of wearing it.
"Ah, I see." Ryukei spoke in a monotone voice, and that was the only sentence that came out of his mouth. He could choose to respond to the part about the fraccion going to the kitchen, but in all honestly he didn't care what the fraccion was planning to do. His interest was at zero percent, it peaked when the fraccion showed a new side, but that only lasted so long. Ryukei only gazed down at Chrest with an empty facial expression soon catching the other's gaze. The Espada's gaze didn't wear down, however, he was staring right into the fraccion's red eyes. Ryukei carefully listened and took the question into consideration and put on another smile, as one would do.
"I do not mind at all. I am on my daily walk around the corridors, despite being quite new here I have found myself in this position rather quickly. Despite my free time I have not gotten the chance to become familiar with the entirety of the palace. As for your offer I have not partaken in a good sip of wine in a while....I would love to. Please, lead the way if you would." Ryukei spoke in a gentle polite voice, looking down at Chrest with a smile.

Chrest had not meant any harm when he had asked if Ryukei wanted to accompany him, so he became slightly worried when he noticed the other Arrancar's smile falter and disappear. He wasn't sure how, but he worried that he had somehow said or done something offensive. But Ryukei had shared wine with them all once in the past, and he hadn't seemed to have a problem with it then. Fortunately, the smile returned, and Ryukei agreed, asking him to lead the way.
“It would be this humble wolf's pleasure to do so,” he replied, bringing one hand up to place his palm against his chest as he inclined his upper body forward in a slight bow. After all, he was still only a Fraccion, and he still intended to show respect to the Espada.
Afterward, he straightened himself and turned away to start walking along the path that would bring them to the kitchen. He walked slowly, in no real desperate hurry. Nyarle hadn't asked him to fetch the wine, nor had she told him to return any time soon, so he had time to spare unless some sort of emergency arose in the near future, which he rather doubted would happen. Rather than hurrying, he sought to enjoy the quiet empty halls and the unusual peace that had settled in them for the moment.
However, it did not take long before he soon grew bored of the quiet. It was nice, but he had someone he could speak to, and the silence between them was starting to become slightly unnerving. Chrest thought back to the time before Nyarle had taken him in. He really hadn't been brave, and had rarely spoken to others of his own free will. But now, he actually felt bad for having not spoken sooner, even if it was just to keep the Espada entertained. Still, there was the question of what to talk about.
“Ryukei-sama, please forgive my curiosity, and indulge me,” he began, his soft voice carrying easily in the quiet of the hall they were walking through, “but you became an Espada just recently, right? What became of the former Decima? Is he dead?”
10-03-2013, 02:24 AM
Ryukei nodded his head, and followed the fraccion. The Espada was perfectly content with the silence, he wasn't the type to communicate a whole lot after all. Besides he wanted to see how the other arrancar would react and act in the situation. Analyzing, researching, that was his instinct even if they were allies. The silence grew on, it seemed the fraccion wasn't going to say anything at all. It was expected, Ryukei was aware that his posture and expression were a bit intimidating to others. He didn't mind, it was helpful. Then the silence was broken abruptly, a single sapphire eye glanced down at the fraccion. He wasn't annoyed at the sudden question, nor taken back by it. It did come out of nowhere however, but he supposed those are the types of things other arrancar think about it.
"That is correct." Ryukei confirmed Chrest's words. "The former Decima?" Ryukei asked in return, before placing one hand under his chin.
He could clearly remember the previous Decima Espada clearly, and the fight they had as well. Ryukei tried to remember any evidence if said former Espada was dead or not, but he couldn't remember nor care to try to. He let his arm hang down back by his side, and glanced down toward Chrest.
"I cannot confirm nor deny the death of the former Decima Espada. Approximately midway through our altercation, his fraccion quite literally stabbed him in the back. Of course, the former Espada was weakened from the fight, or else the servant would not attempt such an act. I struck down the rebellious fraccion for getting in the way, he is still alive. Obviously, I did not cleave deep enough, but I could not honestly care less. As for the former Decima himself, he was carried off by his other servants, and I have not seen nor heard of him since. I do hope that satisfies your curiosity."

The story, as Ryukei told it, was a bit more surprising than Chrest was expecting, and he almost stopped walking, but at the last second decided to continue walking down the corridor. He had heard about the fight, but he hadn't heard the specific details. A Fraccion had gone rogue and attempted to kill the Decima, and he had done it while the Decima was weakened during a fight? It was vicious, and underhanded, and just the sort of thing that Nyarle had been trying to teach him.
Their world was a cruel one, where the strong decided the fate of the weak, but that did not mean that the weak could not try to decide their own fate. It seemed to him that the Fraccion who had attacked his master must have had some goal in mind, perhaps even taking the position of Decima for himself. For Chrest, the thought of attacking the one whom he served was abhorrent, something he would never do, unless he was forced to try and save his own life.
Pushing all that aside for the moment, it still left the question of whether or not the former Decima had survived the attack. Chrest tried to remember if he'd heard anything, or seen the boy around the palace. Nothing, he hadn't seen or heard any trace of him, just like Ryukei. So, did that mean that the boy had died after all? The Fraccion that had attacked him survived, even after Ryukei had put him down, so surely the boy could have pulled through?
There's no need to keep dwelling on it. If he's alive, he'll probably show up at some point. Chrest thought silently to himself, shaking his head gently to help clear it of the jumbled thoughts.
All too suddenly, just as he was trying to move forward, something cool and slimy slithered around his neck and tightened, jerking him sharply backward, causing him to immediately stumble back a few steps, his hands coming up to grasp at whatever was around his throat. He narrowly managed to avoid falling flat on his ass in the middle of the hall, and he quickly turned around to see who or what had caught him.
Chrest's red eyes widened considerably in true surprise as he saw that there was a tentacle of blood holding him around his throat. The blood trailed back to a black sword, and the wielder of that sword was none other than the assumed-missing former Decima Espada, who now stood a few yards behind them, standing defiantly with narrowed emerald-green eyes. Before he could even manage to get a grip on the tentacle around his throat, the blood turned to liquid and fell away, staining his clothes but at least he was free from it.
“I'm not dead nor am I missing or hiding. I'm also not the former Decima; I am the Decima once again,” Rem stated calmly, moving to sheath his black sword before it could spill even more blood onto the floor. Behind him stood one of his own Fraccion, Dirge, the one with black hair and who dressed himself entirely in black clothing, and who carried a solid black trident which rested against his shoulder as he silently observed his master.
“Well...” Chrest coughed softly, rubbing around his throat, his hand coming away smeared red with blood, but despite the scare, he was able to put on his usual smile and nod, “that's good. I suppose I was a bit worried about what had happened to you. But you seem to be as lively as ever, Saverem-sama.”
“No need for formalities or any of that. Just Rem will do,” Rem replied, crossing his arms over his chest, his gaze switching abruptly from Chrest to Ryukei, his expression still neutral although it might have appeared as though he were irritated for some reason.

The Espada stopped in his tracks, the sound of a foot hitting against the hard floor echoed throughout the hallway. The arrival of two new presences occupied Ryukei's attention, if he was surprised by the sudden event, he wasn't showing it at all. He watched Chrest get pulled back by one of the presences, from his peripheral vision. The sound of blood splattering on the ground rang through Ryukei's ears, and soon after a familiar scent flew by his nose. Even before his sense of smell came into play, he recognized the presence long before, by means of reiatsu. Ryukei turned slightly, looking at Rem with a single eye.
"This is unexpected." Ryukei began, turning his entire body to face towards the other arrancar. The Espada neatly folded his hands behind his back.
"So you did survive the encounter. It would seem your fraccion were able to heal you. I do congratulate you on your return to the group, however." Ryukei glanced over Rem and his fraccion, and shifted his stare toward the blood stained ground for a quick moment.
"So here you are, clothed in all red instead of the usual traditional white, with your rank back in your possession. I had assumed another would take it after I left it, but it would seem I assumed wrong."

For some reason, every time Ryukei talked to him, Rem became increasingly agitated and suddenly found that he had the desire to start throwing punches and kicks at the other Espada, even if none of them were destined to actually land a hit. Even when Ryukei was being civil toward him, he still couldn't help but feel as if the other Espada were mocking him, pretending to be smarter than he was. True as that might have been, it just plain irritated him.
“Someone probably would have taken it, but there seems to be a shortage of promising candidates for the Espada these days,” Rem scoffed, turning his head to the side. “I barely had to do anything at all to reclaim the rank you took from me, and to tell the truth, I wasn't even sure that I wanted it back. I guess I did, but I came back in my own way, hence my clothes. I was so terribly fucking sick of white.” The thought of white made the boy run his fingertips over the hilt of his zanpakutou. Blood had the amazing talent to cover up the horrible white.
It was at this point that Chrest chose to intervene, and the wolf calmly stepped in between the two Espada, hoping to prevent a fight. “Peace,” he said, his soft voice carrying in the corridor with ease. “Peace, please do not fight now,” and he turned his garnet eyes to Rem, a small smile curving his lips. “Ryukie-sama was just about to join me for wine. Perhaps you would like to join us as well, Rem-kun?”
Chrest's actions were enough to make Rem stop and reconsider the situation. The wolf was right; at present, there was no reason for him to start a fight with his fellow Espada, especially since he was likely to lose again. But more than that, he was rather shocked that this was the same wolf who had been so timid before. What had caused a change in him, to make him bold enough to stand in an Espada's way and then offer him wine so casually with a smile? Rem slowly removed his hand from the hilt of his sword, and stood straight, staring at the wolf with a carefully neutral expression.
“Sure, why not,” he answered, walking forward to join them. “It's not as if I really have anything better to do at the moment,” he added, eying Chrest as he passed him, curious to know about his recent change. Then his eyes slipped to Ryukei, and he narrowed them slightly. “Truce, for now?” he suggested passively.
11-14-2013, 01:42 AM
"I see." Ryukei replied to the shorter Espada. "While I do agree with your statement, it is entirely possible there could be a few hidden gems around. Perhaps waiting in secrecy to steal your rank away from you, or even my rank away from me. Ah...but I trust you know that well, however, I am not implying that was one of said hidden gems. In the end, it was a flop."
Before the conversation could go on, the young fraccion decided to speak up. Ryukei's attention quickly shifted from Rem to Chrest, he was pretty much confirmed that the wolf was no longer timid. Interesting, what could have caused this change he wondered. He found himself arching his eyebrow slightly in question to the young one's statement.
"Since when were you under the impression a physical altercation would break out?"
Ryukei inquired in a calm voice. For one, he didn't recognize any signs of violent behavior from the other Espada, and another he certainly did not hear any verbal signs that would deem a challenge to a fight. Not that he cared whether or not a fight would break out, he did not see any arrancar in the vicinity as a threat whatsoever. He decided to shrug it off for now, and instead went on to confirm Chrest's second statement.
"Indeed, if you would wish to, you both may certainly join us."
Ryukei's attention was quickly brought to Rem, who seemed to be offering a truce of some sort, he felt as if an idea of a truce was a bit unnecessary. However, if he denied he'd most likely have to go through the trouble of fighting the other Espada again. As much as he was confident he could crush the other, he simply was not in the mood and why beat up a valuable ally?
11-22-2013, 11:25 PM
The meaning behind Ryukei's words was not lost on Rem. He knew exactly what the other Espada was referring to and, perhaps to the surprise of all who were currently present, he did not become angry at the mention of what had happened in the past. There was no tantrum, no screaming, no rage. He merely made a small “tch” noise and turned his head to the side, his eyes narrowed in annoyance. Really, he couldn't recall what had happened to the traitor.
His back throbbed with a sharp lancing pain that struck his spine as he thought of the dagger piercing his flesh. He could still remember the attack, and how he'd fallen to the floor, with the traitor about to deliver the finishing blow. From his place on the ground, he thought he remembered seeing Ryukei stop the other man, and then his own Fraccion were rushing into the room, coming to take him away from the battle. He lost consciousness soon after that, and he couldn't remember what had been done with the man who had stabbed him in the back.
Really, Rem supposed that, were he a mere Fraccion seeking a better station in life, he too might have turned traitor, but he would have challenged his master in a straight-up fight, rather than attempting to assassinate him while he was wounded during another battle for supremacy. True, he was still very much annoyed with the outcome of events, but he didn't honestly care enough to hunt down that person and kill him with his own two hands. Maybe he was already dead, anyway.
The smaller Espada fell into step beside Ryukei, while the wolf Fraccion walked in front of them, leading their small party toward the massive cafeteria inside the palace. Rem watched the wolf, his curiosity once again turning toward whatever had caused such a drastic change within the once-timid creature who normally wouldn't dare to meet the Espadas' eyes with his own, and yet now he was bold enough to step in between two of them and claim peace.
Even more surprising was the fact that his claim for peace had been effective in quelling the situation.
