As the title say rate the very first episode/chapter of a serie you've seen
Without other episodes/chapters having any importance in your rateing.

Rateing should be: in stars from 1 to 6

1= Don't like it
2= Expected better
3= Ok serie
4= Good serie
5= Great serie
6= Best i've read

You shouldn't use series where you already know 1 version and then starts on the other- Aka you've readen the manga and now started on the anime or other way around.

Another thing: It don't necessary have to be the first episode/chapter of the serie, This is for the first episode/chapter of the serie you saw

Aka

This is for true first impressions.

Also along your rateing try giving a few lines of info 3-5 lines would be best. Longer should be placed in spoiler tags, Shorter...That's kind cheap wouldn't you say?

Should we also avoid rating the same series more than a few times (a few different people is fine to get different opinions, but more is just overkill)

I'll start off by rating I"s

its begins with showing a teenage girl in a bikini spread, and a "normal guy" is looking at it. We learn that the guy likes the girl, and that he wants to date her.

the genre is romantic-comedy and i'd give it 5 stars

it has fan-service, and a more unique plot for this genre, ohh, plus it has fan-service:p

K.O.Sen

This manga i didn't expect much off, it beeing another sport manga, Sen's character however makes you smile and laugh with how reckless and easygoing he is.
I would say from the first chapter it's a 3/6 but close to a 4
I'd recomend it to people that like seeking a main character with a personallity resembling Luffy's from One Piece.

Deathnote rating

the series starts off with a brilliant student, light yagami, a he picks up a deathnote. A tool which can kill by just writing the name of a person in it. With this, light decides to kill evil people and become the god of the world he is creating

Excellent series, unique plot, great art, and the story is from the "villains" point of view which is unique

Double Arts: 4

A great first chapter, it introduced the characters well and set up the story which I find unique plotwise so far when compared to other Shounens. The characters are likeable and the premise interesting. I want to keep reading to see how it goes.

hmm I'll do Nurarihyon no Mago~

Rating: 4.

A refreshing art style and a very interesting story! Old japanese legends have always interested me and now all these legendary demons and stuff have actually been made the main characters of a manga xD the main character is likable and him and his family of demons are properly introduced in the first chapter, but I'm not sure about the "buddy" characters yet >__>; the main character has some demon servants who are nice but the humans lack some character depth just now :p nonetheless, this first chapter made me want to keep reading on about the many kinds of legendary demons :>

wow, people actually bumped this thread ^^:rotflmao

Saiyuki Rating

What do you get when you take a classic chinese fairy tale/novel and give it a more modernized twist: Saiyuki

None of the heros are really heros. You have a priest who is the anti-thesis of priest, a pervy half youkai half human, a youkai slayer who is himself a youkai and a monkey xD

Rag tag doesn't even seem to begin to describe this bunch

Anyways, the first chapter sets up the overall plot for the whole series, some bad shit is going down, and they have to stop it. Sounds simple enough, but you'd be suprised

5 stars (pretty damn close to 6 btw)

For me, the anime with the best first episode is Death Note! I got hooked instantly. But ode to Bleach, it's still my favorite anime!:cry

Claymore (manga) Rating

ok, I love this series to death, just keep that in mind everyone ;)

The series starts off semmingly stereotypically, a monster (called yoma) is causing problems in a town

and so, the town hires a warior from an organization to exterminate it

the warrior is quiet and keeps to itself and carries a huge sword, and the only unstereotypical thung is that she is an attractive girl

well we met a boy in the first cahpter who lost his family to the yoma, and now he has nobody at all, even the town rejects him....so eventually he follows the warrior (called a claymore) on her travels

Overall the first chapter isn't anything special, I didn't get the feel of an epic series at all, but whatever short comings the first chapter has the series more than makes up for them later on

but first chapter.....3 out of 6

Since Shonen titles seem to be the staple of the thread, I'll contribute one of my own. ^^

Black Cat (manga) chapter 1

Introduces us to Train and Sven, a pair of sweepers (bounty hunters) roaming a world very similar to 1960's europe. Subtle hints are made to their pasts, and a routine bounty becomes more than they expected when their target has an unusual favor to ask of them.

One of the strongest suits to this series, that really and truly turns it from being ordinary to exceptional, is the character of train.

Ordinarily in shonen titles, you have two kinds of good guys:

-The goofy, wacky main character, who's a war god in battle but never, ever, ever kills anyone.

-The stoic, silent, brooding guy who's a war god in battle, and kills routinely.

Train is the only manga character I've ever encountered who combines the two of them. He's a carefree-spirit, not at all unlike Vash or Kenshin, but he doesn't even blink when it comes to executing his target. It's a coldhearted side of him that is shown from the first episode onward. It's so against the grain of what I've come to expect that I found it charming. ^^

On a scale of one to five, I give this first chapter a 4.

Death Note gets a 5 star from me for the first chapter. I got a pretty bad first impression from the anime (can't remmeber why) but after picking up the manga, I got hooked right away. Just great introduction and follow through, good plot, and great build-up.

Toradora! give it a 4 already like the series since the voice actress that plays the girl is louise from zero no tsukaima and it is a pretty funny series from the first episode

Mysertious Girlfriend X Chapter 1 rating:

Ahh, you've got to love steretypical romance stories

boy meets girl
girl falls asleep
boy tastes girls drool

wait, wtf:eek:

yeah, this series is definitely not your standard love story.....

it is really just a heart felt story about young love and two teens learning about love through each other...but each and every chapter is unique and unlike most annoyingly mundane romance stories

the art makes them look quite childish, but it gets smoother later on, and as far as romance cliches goes, this story has none, or they are disquished quite well

I give the first chapter 5 puddles of drool stars

Hen Chapter 1 rating:

Hen is the story of a girl who uses and abuses men, just for fun most of the time. Then she meets a girl, and quickly realizes she loves her, but this is getting ahead of ourselves

The first chapter pretty much reveals how much of a bitch yoshida can be, and how it almost seems like this will be a love story between a girl and a professor.

It's hard to like either main character, and while the art is good, there isn't much to go with (soo much open space and reaction shots)

pretty much just seems average or slightly below....the series does get better though

to LOVE-ru Chapter 1

5 freakin stars! I love it.. Rito is full of lulz I couldn't stop laughing everytime his eyes bulges :lmao And Haruna's such a cutie.. made me wonder if she likes Rito since she seems a bit jealous when she saw him with Lala.

Fave scene: When Rito got sucked in the vacuum :lmao

Fave quote: "Don't come near or I'll spit on you" - Rito said to the pursuers xD

Suzuka rating

The series is about a small town boy who moves to city to go to school (unique, I know ;)) while there he is living in a building filled with women

pretty unique so far right :p

well actually, this series is not a harem manga at all :eek:

the first chapter sets up the main romantic intent of the series. It has highly detailed and vivd art, multi-demensional characters and....fanservice

Pretty Face

1st chapter was a mix of lulz, romance and a weird comedy..and already setup the plot of the series....It's like Ranma 1/2 but is focused more on a romantic side..well I can't explain it if it's romantic or sisterly love..you'll know why once you read it. :lmao
It has some twist along the way...
It's one of those ecchi manga that will make you LOL more than enjoying those ecchi scenes..

oh yeah the one who made this manga is the creator of MxO too..

rate this 4

Vampire Knight

5 stars

An introduction of Kaname saving Yuuki first. Then it was soon fast-forward to Yuuki and Zero's school life as the guardian of the school, and they being a prefect is just a facade to hide the school's secret of schooling the vampires at night and to protect the overzealous schoolgirls from the vampire's attacks.

Not bad for a first chapter. Keeps me reading. :D
